Oh, so you like loaded pizza, huh?

I once ordered a loaded pizza. The cook was killed when the bullets went off in the oven.

Sure, there’s always one.:stuck_out_tongue: But still, unless you eat a whole pizza by yourself, this means leftovers. I’ll admit that fans of that disgusting abomination are often quite vocal and really do like it. Just that no one else does- not even as their third choice.

For example- few dudes will pick plain Cheese as their #1- but many will settle for it after their fave is gone. But Hawaiian pizza is never a third choice- either you love it or hate it (and most hate it)- which is why it’s a poor choice for ordering pizzas for a group.

Yes, one person will vote loudly for Hawaiian, and that fan will eat his share or even a little more. But no-body else will touch it.

I don’t mind pineapple on pizza - it’s the ham that kills Hawaiian for me.

Put it with some sweet onion and peppers and some sausage or ground beef, and it’s pretty darn good.

Then the other thing that happens is when a group is say, half vegetarian and half not. So they order pizzas: half of them cheese or vegetable, and half with pepperoni/sausage/etc.

At which point the meat eaters look at the pizzas and say “Oh, I like mushroom. And I’ll take a plain cheese, too. Plus one pepperoni.” So after one go-round all the cheese and vegetable ones are gone, while the still-hungry vegetarians look at all the extra sausage slices lying there.

Which means I get an entire pizza to myself!

But yeah, I agree that it probably isn’t the best choice for groups. Based on a tournament last weekend, the order around here goes pepperoni, supreme, veggie, cheese, everything else (that rarely gets ordered). We went through 20 pizzas Saturday, and the ones that went home with the kids were plain cheese.

I have never seen that happen. I suppose in very small groups, but not even in SF, where I used to work, with lots of Vegetarians.

What’s the problem with ham and pineapple on pizza? I like ham, and…
Pineapple is good with anything because it aids digestion: It contains the enzyme papain, that attacks proteins. Good for digestion.
What’s your problem with vegetables, Mr. Shine? So a pizza has bell peppers and such. So what?
Remember, I’m the one who complained about the notion of strawberry pizza–and lo and behold, there IS such a thing! Some people put strawberries on pizza and you’re complaining about vegetables?

I think I have found my people.

I’m a picky pizza eater, too. I don’t mind pepperoni, love ham/canadian bacon, and will happily pick off anything that doesn’t “leave its mark” on the taste of the pizza as a whole. So olives are OK, but things like onions and jalapenos, no go.

In the groups I hang with, they usually order a cheese, a pepperoni, a veggie, and a loaded one (or multiples thereof if there are lots of people). If I can snag a slice or two of cheese and/or pepperoni, I’m happy. But I agree, the less picky should keep their grubby paws off the picky people’s pizzas unless they indicated that’s what they wanted from the beginning. If they spoke up for the loaded or the veggie, they should stick with it, dammit!

I have the opposite problem. I don’t particularly like pepperoni or sausage on a pizza but I will eat them if it’s loaded with enough other stuff to make it taste good. Invariably, if we order everybody else wants pepperoni and meat and we end up ordering a small veggie for me. But after a slice or two of the meat pizza, everybody decides that the veggie looks good and we end up with no veggie left and lots of meat that I don’t want.

I am one of the people who really likes the “loaded” pizza and so I’ll usually request that.

However, I’ll readily admit that I’m going to have a little bit of everything. In a typical mix of pizzas at an event, I’ll typical have two slices of a loaded pizza and two slices of whatever else is available, including at least one of pepperoni.

My rule of thumb for a general-purpose/mixed event like church or a PTA: 40% pepperoni , 10% meat combo, 10% cheese, 10% veggie-only, 10% Hawaiian, and 20% supreme.

I also have a little of everything, and i will start with plain cheese then work my way up.

I’d say no Hawaiian, based on the fact that Hawaiian pizza lovers will happily eat other varieties but no one else will touch Hawaiian.

You beat me to it by an hour–I worked for Domino’s 30 years ago and the manager put strawbs on his personal pies; I think he waited until it came out of the oven to put them on. As much as I despise strawbs, I can’t imagine them cooked.

I prefer “white” pizza (no tomato sauce, extra olive oil to make up for it) myself. Greeeeeeeaaaaaasy!

OK, I got some dope on this one…

I run St Louis’s BEST and most authentic New York Style Pizzeria.

Hands down, Pepperoni outsells everything BUT plain cheese pizza. Cheese and Pepperoni are neck and neck but I would guess Cheese would win if you factor in “Slice” sales.

Our Fully Loaded or Supreme" is called the Bronx Bomber it has: Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Italian Beef, Ham, Bacon, Black Olives, Mushrooms, Green Peppers, Onions, Jalapeños, Anchovies, Extra Garlic, Extra Cheese and Extra Sauce…the Anchovies and Jalapeños almost get lost in the mix.

I am also located right next door to I-Tap, a beer bar with 61 rotating tap handles and 500 beers in bottles. Once a month or so I “pair” a pizza with a beer; While I usually don’t go for Jalapeños or Pineapple I did a Pie with Pineapple, Pepperoni and Jalapeños to pair with Bell’s HopSlam…it was an almost perfect match. I LOVES me some HopSlam.

Get anything you want on your pie…as long as it is made with love it will be great!

Road trip!

As a carnivore, I would prefer the “loaded” pizza, if that’s what I’m thinking it is.

What I’m thinking a loaded pizza is NOT, is 86 proof.:stuck_out_tongue:

The two least pickoffable things on Pizza are Pineapple and olives, so I will strongly object to them. Pineapple is much worse leaving it’s gaggingly sweet and assy taste over a 3 inch radius area. Olives at least only leave a putrid salty contamination over an inch or so.

Anchovies pollute not only the pizza but the whole damn lunchroom. And, I kinda like raw anchovies in ceasar salads.

But you’re right about pineapple. You cant pick that crap off.

My cardinal rule is: don’t let other people order pizza, regardless of the occasion. The last time I got cornered into doing this, my neighbor went on the cheap and bought one of those god-awful Papa Murphy cardboard atrocities. Worst pizza this side of one of those frozen horrors.

Also, I’m a big fan of pepperoni and pineapple. I like the sweet-salty combination. Don’t judge me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t judge me either, Wolfman or Dr. Deth. Say what you like about pineapple, but for redeeming value you’d be hard put to beat the papain in pineapple. Mahalo.
