Seriously? Papa Murphy’s pizza is better than any frozen option and better than half the delivery options. I would never describe them as cardboard.
I dunno, there’s something about Totinos that makes me like them. Maybe they aren’t pizza, but they *are *cheap and tasty.

That’s probably true… but 1) my wife attends any event I’m involve in buying pizza for, and she likes Hawaiian and 2) we rarely have any of the Hawaiian left, and I know she’s only eating a slice or two. We’re up near Seattle if that makes any difference. It might be a regional thing.
I love pineapple, to me Dole Whip is something the angels get to eat everyday and us mere mortals only a few times. But cooked? On a pizza?
“If you mess around, no blame me when bad stuffs happen to you!!”
Looks like I’ve touched a nerve. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has noticed this phenomenon. It’s not unanimous, but it’s close enough to feel vindicated.
You betcha! pepperoni and pineapple is a divine combination on a pizza. Sprinkle with a little red pepper flake and you have some good eatin’!
My wife’s the meat-eater, I’m the veggie-lover. We usually compromise by getting a half-pepperoni and half-mushroom. I’ve been very careful ordering it, though, since the day that one idiot pizza-maker put the pepperoni and mushrooms on the same side, and left the other side with only cheese. “That’s what you ordered!” he said. Since then I’ve been careful to ask for “half pepperoni and the other half mushroom.” And I don’t go to that pizzeria anymore.
Seriously. Perhaps it’s just this franchise, but I’ve been unfortunate enough to have two of their pizzas over the past five years and both were nearly inedible.
I’ve had Papa Murphy’s a few times and it has always been pretty good.
This thread is interesting to me… My company seems to order pizza often for lunch meetings and they frequently put the leftovers on a counter not too far from my work area. Almost always there is lots of Cheese, Pepperoni, and some multi-meat. There are usually only a few pieces left of Supreme, Veggie, and yes even Hawaiian. Those last three are the ones that always get snatched up first, with the Cheese and Pepperoni left at the end of the night.
Barbecue seems to be the one people really clamor over though and there is rarely any of that left.
I stupidly once let a student order the ten pizzas for a club meeting. He ordered nine pepperoni (everyone likes pepperoni) and one cheese pizza. That was a bit too limited in choices.
We’ll now do 2 cheese, 1 veggie, 2 supreme, 2 pepperoni and 3 pepperoni/sausage. Except when I know someone is eating kosher, then I’ll get another veggie as well.
My favorite combination: sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and black olives with extra cheese. We had a Waldo’s chain here where this was called the “Barnstormer” and was their most popular combination. Needless to say, it wasn’t a thin-crust pizza.
We don’t often disagree about food, my friend, but pineapple on pizza is an abomination!
In Brooklyn, pineapple on pizza would be a hanging offense. In fact, I haven’t seen a pizzeria here that offers the option.
I worked ten years at an establishment famed for its vegetarians, and also noticed that the pepperoni and sausage pies were consumed far in advance of the veggies. Like Arthur Schwartz says about Jews loving Chinese food, “If I can’t see the pork, it doesn’t count.”
Yep. This tends to happen too much when the veggie option is just cheese or one veg topping. Loaded veggie doesn’t tend to get eaten up by meat folks, but they will grab a cheese or mushroom slice.
(I am a meat eater, aside from Lent, FWIW)
I haven’t been within maybe a thousand miles of Brooklyn (Beech Grove, Indiana). So I’ll stick with pineapple - studded pizza, Ike.
I like Hawaiian with jalapeños added to give it a kick and balance the sweetness of the pineapple. I’ll eat whatever you get, though, as long as you don’t overdo the olives.
This is why you DON’T ASK. Just order. There’s very little I hate more than the half hour argument that inevitably follows the words, “Who’s in for pizza?” Some princess doesn’t get their special mushroom, olive, and ham white pesto pizza, they’re just shit outta luck.
I’m not a big fan of just pepperoni, but this thread has been educational about why I need to order it more often when ordering for groups.
I used to be a pepperoni purist, but now I’ve learned to enjoy select other ingredients. But I do like to enjoy those ingredients, so don’t like the pizza overloaded with too many toppings.
Some lovely combos I enjoy:
Smoked salmon and arugula
pineapple and salami
chicken tikka masala and cilantro
