Thanks for all the wishes about my back. I’m not supposed to take it because of my rearranged innards, but Naprosyn/Aleve does help.
It’s the same kind of sore that I get whenever I decide to go running and overdo it, except this is in my back and not my thighs. The painful part should be pretty much done by tomorrow, and I suspect that I’ll live.
In other news, George Mac and the boys came by to pick his cotton, and he lost money on this field. Picked cotton gets packed into big blocks the size of a semi, called a module. The field that surrounds me is 30 acres, and to break even, he needed 3 modules; and a normal yield would be about 4. He got one. The land right here is very sandy and drains quickly, so the field is dry even with weekly monsoons, and doesn’t support cotton very well. He says he’s planting wheat next week instead, and that’s how I had the seed drill parked in my yard.
I tried to take some pictures of they guys picking yesterday, but they didn’t turn out too well. However, I do have a shot I took that did turn out of a different subject. Get ready to ::squee::
I found this in my workshop yesterday. VWife estimates him to be 3-4 weeks old, in good health, and he went from wild to lovesponge in about 2 hours. We sure as hell are not keeping him, since the 2 tail limit for indoor felines is already filled. I’ve forbidden her to name him for that reason. If anyone wants him I think he’ll fit in the CD slot…
I should have guessed sooner that he was out there. His mama, who I thought was a tom until we caught the kitten, is a contemptible POS feral cat that has attacked me on a couple of occasions, but most recently in my workshop, obviously defending her offspring. She’s getting in from the attic via a large hole in the ceiling. Having enamored me (NOT) on several occasions, I’ve put her on the short list for some high velocity subcutaneous lead poisoning, and never got the shot. For you bunnyhuggers out there, fear not, because the county animal control is coming tomorrow with some live traps for all of the feral cats we have.
