I love the rain because it brings me my favourite pasttime…Puddle Stomping.
What is your favourite pasttime? …other than message boards which is already evident!
I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!

Being in rain, watching the rain, listening to the rain. Or snow.
And flying when it’s not raining!
Surfing! However in sewerville, the gutter water & often the sewer goes into the surf spot. sigh
Long walks on the board walk… Watching the sea gulls fly. Feeling the warm sun on my skin.

Nature-related, huh?
Sitting by the river at night, before the mosquitoes have hatched out, with a six-pack and a bag of chips. Fishing pole optional.
Oh!
When spring first, well- springs and the tulips and daffodils are out. Walking among them, photographing them, picking them, smelling them. And the lilacs, too.
Love is like popsicles…you get too much you get too high.
Not enough and you’re gonna die…

I love sitting anywhere near, or even better in, the ocean and letting the waves splash me.Also body surfing in on the waves is great!!
PCW, I also LOVE to jump in puddles like a little kid, much to my hubby’s dismay!!
PCW, send some our way, Colorado’s front range is dry as can be!
As for a favorite past time in nature would probably be walking in the mountians hand in hand with a man. Call me silly, but it’s romantic and there’s nothing like the mountains to give my heart a smile. Include a man that I like, I am in heaven
No…doesn’t have to be nature related at all. whatever pasttime strikes your fancy… the fact that I am so happy about the rain, is because I am looking forward to doing my puddle stomping… There is a spot out front of my work that has the most perfect puddles!
I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!
PCW, I was going to start a rain thread…you beat me to it!
I just like looking at the rain, being cozy inside. The drought here in CA started two years before I was born and ended when I was 15, so I was raised to love the rain. The El Niño year kind of wore me down, but only a couple years later, I’m overjoyed to see it pouring. I don’t know that I like doing specific things when it’s raining, but it does make me really happy.

Making love in front of a log fire is top of my list!
Snow here…4 inches last night…with freezing rain today…just cuddle up inside with a warm blanket and a good book

Oh yes! Let’s celebrate rain! By all means!
Everyone in this thread who has said anything remotely nice about rain is required to spend two weeks in Seattle in the winter. (People in Seattle don’t tan, they rust! Last week it only rained twice, once for three days and once for four days. “Little boy – how long does this rain usually last?” “How should I know? I’m only six!”)
Our local Y2K problem is that the sun might peek through the clouds and strike us all blind. On the other hand the skin cancer rate is very low.
My hobbies: Squelching out to my car. Using windshield wipers. Buying umbrellas. Treating trench foot. Pointing out to my children places in the sky where I’ve seen the sun. Taking the dog for a wade. Mowing the seaweed. Wondering what a “convertible” is. Getting clear lenses for my sunglasses.
Puddle Stomping? PUDDLE STOMPING??!!! Oh, please, give me strength!

Funny that you should mention rain and favorite pastimes together. One of my favorite things to do is hike in the rain. I’d say I like to fish or hunt in the rain, but it always turns into a lot more hiking than actually fishing or hunting. I live to be out in the mist and rain, tromping through forests and rivers, listening to the rain fall on the leaves and rocks, hiding out under a tree when it really picks up, feeling the water squish between my toes as my socks and shoes become little lakes. Ahhhhh, I think I’ll call in sick tomorrow and head up to Cazadero. Thanks, PCW, for the good idea.
Beer. It’s not just for breakfast anymore.
