Ohhhh, looky, a springy MMP!

Sorry to hear about your former director, rosie. Prayers and good thoughts headed out in your direction.

Owie, BioTigs, I about cried when I read your story. Glad you didn’t damage anything and that the pain is passing.

swampy, do we need to share with the GDoL that you are using valuable job-hunting time to subject us to an excess of TMI? Hmmmmm? :stuck_out_tongue:

The saga of Rod the Roomba is…fascinating.

Thanks to kai, I am now scared of cows.

I’m sorry about both your and Jahdra’s brothers. Isn’t it odd how kids who seemed so promising can turn out to be such sad adults? Makes me sad. And grateful that my brother, who went through some kind of shaky phases, turned out quite well.

Golly, I wish I could win a 27" TV and some Hi-C.

Cool pic, SCL! (Does this mean you’re famous?) I was going to try to take a close-up of a magnolia too, but at the moment I can’t find my memory-card reader, so uploading pics isn’t happening. Argggghh.

I wanna see kitty pics, Bobbio!!! (Oh, and I loved your BooFae pic.)

That allergy story is scary, Nava. I’m always afraid I’ll become allergic to more things, but so far, it’s pretty much just pollen and mold.

I’m frankly amazed that Maggie doesn’t cook. She is a Wonderbeagle, you know.

I have the dining-room table I grew up with. The chairs are long gone, but the table still works (although I really want to refinish it). I want to get decent chairs for it, but haven’t found ones that I really really like.

Well…I’m falling asleep now. Guess I should give in.

Everyone have a lovely evening…

GT

Thank you, everyone.

MamaTigs - Don’t do that! (and that pic squicked me out!) But as long as you didn’t knock the bionics out of whack. A couple of years ago, I fell smack on my (real) knees - I tripped over something Smokey had knocked off my nightstand. a few days later, I fell backwards and landed on my tailbone. All in all, not a good week for me.

Awww, SCL, you’re very pretty, and your husband is a cutie. He looks as though he could be related to my husband, and the two of you make a very handsome couple. Lots of hockey action going on, too bad about Connor, poor guy. He’s still a member of the team though, right, and will have the opportunity to play another time, yes? Thanks also for the offer of a pic ofthe inside of a magnolia blossom, the whatchacallit (I really do know what it’s called, just having a dumb moment) is definetly a significant feature of the flower, and if I want this to look like a magnolia I need to get the details right.

Oh swampy…you handed me a line so…was it bulk bear sausage, or just a link?
I am sooooooo sorry FCM, here is some loverly dark chocolate coming through the cd drive.

meli dear, for someone who’s from the Land of Marketing, you certainly need to brush up on your language skills. It’s not “hand-me-downs,” it’s “heirloom.” If you’d acquired it from someone not related to you, it would be “antique.” Tch!

Not totally kidding, furniture from just a couple decades back is being sold as “antique” or “collector’s items.” You got it cheaper because you’ve got “above-average currency-management skills”.

Biotigs, St Pete doesn’t even ask kindergarten teachers for ID. He just takes a look at the glops of diverse foodstuffs stuck on their clothing and welcomes them in. He knows he’d face his MiL’s wrath, otherwise.

Have you noticed how most doctors are very bad about asking for your medications? Funny thing is, in Spain our medical files are in the 'puter, they can look them up, but they still ask you “are you taking any painkillers, what dosage and for how long have you been on it?” instead of asking “what medication are you taking?” or looking it up. Every time Mom gets a new specialist, the specialist asks exclusively about those medications which would be directly linked to his field. Mom usually remembers to point out that she’s also taking tummy protection and antiinflamatories and was taking calcium but not any more because she’s at zero risk for decalcification and actually with her arthrosis it’s not a very wise idea and she’s not on HRT because it makes her sick. Several times the nurses have pointed it out as well. A few times, the doctor went and said something like “ok, I’m going to change your painkiller and add some stomach protection…” and then Mom has remembered to mention the whole list. That usually stops the doctor dead on his tracks, because they suddenly realize she’s not just an old uterus or just a bad spine or just liver problems… she’s a damn cocktail.

Rosie, I’m so sorry to hear your news, am sending positive thoughts your way.

Vundernuts - excellent pic, thanks! I passed it on to 'im indoors who thinks it’s scarily accurate. At least he said the attitude fits…

Kai - how’s your arm? Hope you’re healing up well.

BioTigs, please stop doing things like that, you make my bionic bits ache in sympathy. It’s a very impressive bit of bruising though, I hope you’re making the most of it.

Swampus, you have far too much time on your hands, I’m not sure I can cope with all this TMI. I’m a delicate little flower, you know.

Meli - family furniture is great! When my doting parent sold her house and moved into sheltered accommodation, she gave me her dining table and chairs, a corner display cabinet, a china cabinet, her wedding china and a bone china tea service amongst other things. Of course she only did it so that when she moved into her new place, she could go out and buy heaps of new stuff - well, there goes my inheritance!

SCL - great pics!

Last night I went out with friends for beerverages, this time the guest beer at the pub was Harviestoun’s Bitter and Twisted which went down far too well.

Oh, and I still can’t hear properly after my ear infection. The doc told me to take normal decongestant tablets, so I did. Now I’m on my second pack and things haven’t changed a bit. Bah!

Hubba hubba!

Rosie I’m so sorry for your loss. Her, her family and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

BioTigs cool pic! It does look like your knee is healing well. I bet in a few days the new owie will be lookin’ as good as the rest of the knee.

kai it was definitely bulk bear sausage.

gt the folks at GDOL don’t have a clue about anything from what I’ve seen. Maybe I need to go to work there!

snakes y’all are a cute couple.

Ok, off to check and see if the paper’s here and to caffienate up some more.

Later Y’all!

I just told GermanBoss I didn’t intend to renew. He went “whaaaat? but we’ve pretty much already agreed that you’re coming over to France and all and we’ll need you in 2008 for Spain and…” “dude, thanks for the news, but they are. And I’m a tad up to here of working for people who think that ‘needs to know’ is equivalent to ‘doesn’t need to know’” “Let me talk to SwissBoss please and see if I can fix this.” “OK. But I need to go to the doctor and I can’t even decide where with the kind of information I’m getting. And doing anything in Switzerland takes three forevers, it’s driving me nuts.”

I did tell my agent two days ago and there hasn’t been any answer. Wonder if the specific agent is still at that agency or what, other times I wrote when he was on vacation and got an “out of the office” email.

Why do people always make decisions about other people’s lifes without talking to the ones whose lifes are being decided? And why am I suck a wuss?

Caffeinating here as well. The pollen has finally gotten to me, so am taking the day off today to try to recouperate.

Rosie, my thoughts and prayers are with your former director’s family and the choir. So sorry! :frowning:

The “picture-a-Doper” thread is a trip! And now that I’ve seen some REAL pics of some of you, I must admit that many do not match the pictures I had in my mind’s eye of them. Probably has much to do with my associations due to their names and other vagueries, I guess. Swampy, for instance, does NOT look much like a bear! (Although he does look very handsome! :)). I don’t really have any recent pics of myself; I’ll have to see what I can find and see if I can upload one or two somewhere.

That’s the nature of agencies, Nava. Sadly, 'im indoors had exactly the same troubles when he was working overseas - most of the time he couldn’t get hold of his agency or the person he dealt with wasn’t around, and then they’d take ages to get back to him. The only thing you can do is be persistent - that’s what he did and it paid off in the end.

The most frustrating thing was that he’d be on a six-month contract and they would leave it very late to tell him that it was being extended. The response was usually “oh, we told your agency weeks ago”…but of course the agency never passed the info on to him so we’d have a stressful couple of weeks trying to find out if he was staying abroad or coming back to the UK with all his goods and chattels, which was a logistical nightmare in itself since he can’t drive! See? We don’t even get to have fun car stories.

Rosie, I’m so sorry for your loss. The deceased and her family will be in my prayers.

I woke up extra early today to get some reading done before my 10:30 class. The temptation to go back to bed is extremely overwhelming. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn.

Hugs to Rosie and SCL, you two are cuties. And I have to tell you, apologetically, when I told my SO CLEARLY “Snakes CAT Lady” he said “Snake scat lady? Wha…?”

I had to smack him.
Morning all!

Why are mornings so dang early?

There’s no one in the office but me so far. I could have a party!

Morning? It’s nearly hometime for me and my boss has just been to dump three urgent jobs on my desk that all need to be done by tomorrow. One of them involves student numbers which means I have to use the most unreliable programme in the entire world - it not only refuses to provide the information I want, it throws users out at any point in the proceedings with the most pointless error messages imaginable.

Good job I’m going out for beerverages with Hazel tomorrow, otherwise I’d probably end up getting carted off by the men in white coats.

Morning. I am up and caffeinating. It is a brisk, rainy 48 degrees Amurikin here. So far no one has locked themselves in the bathroom this morning.

There is serious bickering in my office between my coworkers and my boss. There are essentially two camps, and, and I hate to say this, it’s narrowing down to guys vs. girls.

I am not on either side, really. One of the guys is my boss. So I have to listen to him.

But everybody keeps putting me in the middle and it’s really starting to piss me off.

Happy phone call, out of the blue.

Y’all know that I’m in training to become an EMT. When I started, I submitted an application to join the rescue squad, which is a separate station from the fire department I’m on. I told the rescue chief that he could sit on my application until he thought I was ready to join.

Weeeeell, my cell phone just rang. I’ve been voted in, and I need to go to the station meeting Monday night…

Morning, everybody. I’m up and caffeinating. The knee is still seeping just a teensy bit – I’m currently debating whether to call the doctor’s office or give it one more day. I’m feeling seriously non-ambitious, so I’m thinking keeping it elevated today and doing lots of knitting will be good for it, right? It’s a good excuse, anyway. I’m glad you liked the photo, although most of the nastiest looking stuff is actually blood-saturated steri-strips. Yeah, not my favorite thing, either. I’d change them myself, but I don’t have the adhesive they paint on to make the sides stick longer. Also, of course, I don’t have any steri-strips, but it’s not like those aren’t easily available. Oh well, it’s too much decision-making for only one cup of coffee.

It’s another sunny, springy day here, but not quite as warm. We’ll have cooler nights for a couple of days, but by this weekend spring may actually arrive and stay. That would be nice. At least it’s dog swimming season again, full-on – and I got a phone call the other day from someone down at the dog beach, who’d found Isaac’s collar that he’d managed to shed somewhere out in the water a month or more ago. It finally washed up on the beach. So we now have two ID tags for him. Stoopid dog.

Hurrah! Huzzah! And all that! Today is my Friday cause tomorrow’s a vacation day!

rosie, my condolences.
biotigs, OOOOOWWWWW!!! I tooks some ibuprophen, just because, after reading your post.
kai, compared to me, you got a spring chicken head o feathers.
bobbio, congrats!
scl, you and hubby are in the seriously good lookin’ category!
bear, you are incorrigible!
All of you with job woes, sorry, that sucks!

That’s about it. Carry on.

Tupug

Aside from being on a leg, rather than a belly, that looks rather like a photo I emailed to the surgeon a few days after my fundoplication when I was concerned about it being red and puffy.

At least you didn’t damage the [del]carpenter’s[/del] surgeon’s efforts. Many years ago, I had an arthroscopic job and about four months later, POP! happened and I had to go back in for them to nip out a bit more cartilage.

It’s been unexplained manic workloads here lately. Dunno if that means we’re short some staff, or if the users are just getting busy. I’m not complaining, as it’s been good for four hours of overtime in the last week.
