I went to college at WVU in Morgantown and I found the fastest way to go (from Loudoun County/Western Fairfax Co) is Route 15N to Frederick; get on I-70W, to I-68W, to Morgantown. It usually takes about 3-3.5 hours from Loudoun to Morgantown. Going I-66 to I-81 seems like it would be much longer – it takes an hour to get to 81 from 66, then another half-hour to 45 mins to get to 70.
Trust me Opal, I drove that same route for 5 years! 
It’s faster, plus I know it like the back of my hand!

Ummm… you got a bit of a typo there. That would be I79 from Morgantown, not Route 71. I live in Morgantown, and I’ve never heard of that road.

Not happening. B’s off with her family for the next few, and coming back Sunday (or late Saturday). Either way, she ain’t driving more than she hasta, and I do not exactly relish the long drives as I used to. Oh, and we have class Sunday, too.

My oldest will be particularly disappointed, as she was looking forward to talking with you (of course, she’s the one that won’t email you or anything; there’s definitely some passive/aggressive stuff going on here). We actually won’t be arriving until about 2:30 or 3:00. We’re meeting a realtor at 11AM in Spencer, WV, and told her we could give her 2-3 hours of time. We are packing a light lunch for the family, including a fruit salad; we’re bringing our Strawberry vodka with us, and whatever fruit salad the family doesn’t eat on the way to the party, we’ll add the vodka to, and the grown-up Dopers can enjoy some refreshing 80 Proof fruit.
Them apples sound mighty juicy!
Opal is picking me up at 8 a.m. sharp. I am estimating it will take us 5 hours to get there… that is if everything goes perfectly. Factoring in stops and stuff, maybe 5.5 hours. So that would put us there around 1:30-ish.
