Ohio's anti-trans brigade continues

It was an attempt by an armed group to enter the seat of the legislative branch by force and overturn the results of a legitimate Presidential election. That it failed is not relevant. That is was destined to fail is not relevant. OTTOMH

Earlier this year, the FBI announced the arrest of a would be terrorist. He had become radicalized and sought out infrormation on how to make an improvised explosive device and where to buy chemicals to make explosives on the internet. He thought he had found another terrorist who was selling him those chemicals. He was actually in contact with an agent posing as a terrorist. The chemicals that were delivered were inert and harmless. However, as he intended to make a bomb, thought he was making a bomb, an intended to detonate that bomb and kill innocent people he was charged with all those things.

I, or another Doper, will deal with the rest of your post tomorrow. It’s late and I need to go to bed.

They weren’t attempting to take over the government. They were attempting to stop the certification of the election. And to hang Mike Pence.

Saying “Hang Mike Pence” while chasing him and his family in the Capitol while carrying weapons and zipcuffs and while the mob outside is building a gallows moves this from “saying stupid shit” to “literally attempting to murder Mike Pence with the encouragement of the sitting President”.

I didn’t contradict myself. It was allowed to run its course by Donald Trump, whose Acting SecDef withheld permission to deploy the National Guard despite requests hours earlier from both the police and members of Congress to do so. But thank you for admitting Trump’s deliberate inaction in support of the riot.

And yet, as my own citation indicated, it was Christopher Miller’s deliberate actions that prevented the requested NG support from being deployed in a timely manner.

Tell us: do you agree with Donald Trump’s actions and statements on that day?

Two Things

I have sent a message to the mods requesting this discussion of Jan 6 be spun off into its own thread.

And

One of the recent assasination attempts on Trump was as follows- Reasoning, correctly IMO, that he coud not make it past the security checkpoints and metal detectors with a gun, a man came up with a plan to kill Trump. He would enter without a weapon. Then, he would take a pistol from one of the armed security personell. Once he had the pistol, he would shoot and kill Trump. All those parts of the plam were ludicrous. Assuming he did somehow take a pistol from a guard (already a near impossibility), how would he get within range, aim and fire a fatal shot before an alarm was raised?

There was zero chance of him killing Trump. That is not relevant. It remains an attempted assasination. Do you agree with that?

This thread is all over the place. I’m leaving it closed rather than go through the work of splitting it up. Still can’t figure out who started which hijacks, but I see several.

If anyone wants to start a thread on a specific subject, please do. If someone then starts a hijack, please report it instead of replying to it.

This thread is a major mess.

@Magiver, you in particular seem to be a main driver of the hijacks. Watch it. Stay on topic in the future.
