What happened with OJ? Last I read he was (supposedly) confidently preparing to be released in a day or two after the hearing.
How long can the judge wait to deliver her decision? Is the delay an indication that OJ’s bid has failed?

Linky-link-link?
??
It was in the news for weeks about two months ago.
Randomly selected googlenews link:
Best link I found. Can’t find anything about a decision.
Because there hasn’t been one yet.
That’s why I’m asking legal eagles: How long can the judge wait to deliver her decision? Is the delay an indication that OJ’s bid has failed?
If I had to guess, I’d say that the longer the delay, the more likely it is that OJ wins his argument.
I don’t think any judge wants to be the one responsible for letting OJ out so if there is a way to deny the new trial and have it stand up to appellate review, I think the judge hearing the case would have jumped on it by now. The fact the he hasn’t implies that at least an arguable case for a new trial was made and now what they’re doing is seeing is if they have any other options.
It seems likely that he’ll get a retrial just like his conspirator C.J. Stewart. They committed the same crime. It seems reasonable they should get treated the same way. Hopefully he’ll get a similar plea deal too.
OJ is a broken man regardless. He’s run into some tax issues while in prison. iirc the IRS took his house in Florida. He won’t be returning to much of a life outside prison.
He deserves another trial. In his first one the judge unfairly took it into her own hands to punish him for past deeds and give him the maximum sentence even though he just wanted his stuff back. A gross mishandling of the justice system.
“O.J. Simpson goes before a Nevada parole panel Thursday to plead for leniency in his 2008 kidnapping and robbery case, but even a favorable decision won’t spring the former football star from prison.”

Your post is a gross mischaracterization of Mr. Simpson’s actions.
I would not read anything into the delay. OJ raised multiple issues in his hearing, and the Judge is going to have to address each issue in her opinion.
There are two separate things going on now: 1. parole board hearing. 2. trial about incompetence of counsel.
I don’t think patiently waiting at home and wishing for a return of sold items is what landed Mr. Simpson in prison on a felony conviction.
Yeah, that judge was way out of line. All OJ did was to commit armed robbery and kidnapping. Anything more than a 30-day suspended sentence is too harsh
On March 8, 2013 my attorney presented a motion to have my ex held in contempt of the divorce decree.
On May 13, 2013 there was a trial. The judge requested written briefs.
The judge still hasn’t issued his ruling.
Were you, uhm, on the jury in Los Angeles? :dubious:
OJ’s attorney apparently did fuck up pretty badly according to this article. And if the part about the plea deal is true, he would already be out of prison had he known of it and agreed to it.
Considering the fact that the one other defendant who actually went to jail with OJ was in fact granted a new trial, this looks more and more like stalling on the part of the trial court.
I wish to hell some civic-minded fellow convict would do a Jeffrey Dahmer on him and save the taxpayers another shitload of money.
