Only if you find me the whiskeypalian patron saint of lost causes and light a candle to them on my behalf. A really big candle.
Wow, look at the time! I had no idea it was this late, I really meant to check in at a more reasonable time. I’d blame it on trying a new thing in the kitchen*, but actually it is because my current piece is taking some serious attention because it isn’t symmetrical and I can’t just work off what I already did. I’m enjoying it even though its making me work and stuff.
Almost all of the snow is melted off, there is some in the shady spots but last nights rain melted most of it off. I’m afraid that’s the last of it for the year ![]()
It seems as though it would be easier and with less paperwork to just roll that cost into your property taxes. They are paying an entire department, from clerks to management, to process those little monthly checks from each house.
Oh hurray! While I’ve never gone as long as you with just sink baths, I know how good it feels to have warm water running over your body after missing it for a few days while camping.
I hope he didn’t share anything with you, strep isn’t a whole lot of fun.
Do you also always doubt them until they return with everything right? And then overtip due to feeling guilty for doubting them?
I’m glad you recovered quickly and hope that you sleep well tonight.
Are they going to repair something or do they normally drain it for the winter? If that was the case, they are slackers cause winter started a few months ago.
Oh very cool, I hope it happens soon. From my understanding, the multifocal lenses aren’t like bifocals, one eye will be corrected for near vision and the other will be corrected for distance. Your brain has to be plastic enough to develop the proper neural pathways for that to work properly.
I still wear glasses, but I don’t really need them. There is no distance correction and a slight reading correction. I’ve worn glasses since I was in Jr. High so I stopped noticing them long ago. I don’t put my glasses on now until I need them but then I don’t think to take them off afterwards. Plus they are photogrey so I don’t have to bother with sunglasses.
Dang about his BP, that probably needs to be dealt with before the cat surgery…cause I think it has to.
Premeditated sloth sounds like too much planning for me!
I’m so happy that you are happy. That was a big chunk of change as well as bother. Its good it worked out well.
*cornbread with both corn and chopped jalapenos - the extra liquid and mass messed with the cooking time which delayed roasting the tomatoes for the churro beans. I’ll remember to adjust next time.
Up from naptime, having a martini and chicken with egg noodles and peas.
Spot, in his mind: “I AM YOUR GOD, BOW DOWN AND ADORE ME!”
What come out of his mouth: squeak
They drain it for the city inspection, and any corrective maintenance.
“The pool is broken, the hot tub is broken, and the mouse-tini was served at exactly the wrong tempreture. This is no way to treat a god.” - Spot
Yay!
I thought y’all did soup suppers on Wednesdays during Lent.
11pm here and even with sleeping in late this morning I’m ready for sleepage. For some reason I seldom nap in the afternoon anymore (probably because I’m fairly active during then, either gym time or soccer) so staying awake 15-17 hours isn’t that tough for me…for now. But definitely time to visit Slumberland.
swampy, sounds like you were well-fed for Chalice duty.
JtC, the snow may be gone, but don’t be surprised if there is a day or so in March that brings back the white lawns. There was supposed to have been a snow storm in Ohio the day I was born and that was in April, 1953.
Jtc, Cookie, I usually have a couple curve balls on my orders, but so far they have come out fine for over a year, right what I want. Sure you tipped her well.
doggio, lovely pic, and truth is there…
And off to visit Slumberland; catch y’all tomorrow.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 6c/43f with no predicted change, and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s not that fucking cold outside. It would be a lot fucking colder if we were on a fucking whale-watching trip.” This is true, been there and done that. And it was cold!
It’s my normal state of being ![]()
Very sensible thing to do, also sensible is a small libation to ward of scurvy and malaria.
It makes such a difference to how you feel, doesn’t it? I’m glad you and Sis had a busy and productive day too.
I had a very busy day yesterday being my minion, so I am hoping to get a bit of quiet today to do my own work. I still have some things I want to check up on for him so that he comes back to something other than chaos ![]()
It’s just me and Troublesome Minion in the office for the next two days so let’s hope I survive without attempting to throttle her!
Morning. Woke up to bit of white stuff falling out the sky, but it’s stopped again. It didnt stick, and I don’t think we’re forecast more.
Huh, I’m planning on going cetacean spotting next week, but in warm places, so… hoping it’s warmer there’n here today! I’ve been watching the forecast somewhat obsessively, and it looks like there should be plenty of centipedes around.
Anyway, I should away to irk. I’m at least half mentally on holiday so I don’t think I’ll be getting much done… may just tidy things up then come home again, attempt stuff on the laptop, now my home setup is nicer than my irk one.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 68 and sunny. We shall be bears who lunch as both of us have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for Mexican comestibles. We will make a stop at Aldi’s afterwards to pick up a few needed provisions. Nappage and RDOS sloth will complete the day.
BBBOO that would be St. Anthony. Whiskypalians accept pretty much the RCC canon of saints with some of our own thrown in. The big difference bein’ there is no formal process for canonization. The inclusion of a new saint is done by vote at General Convention.
JtC the county sends a bill each month that includes water, trash pickup and the stoopid streetlight.
red Lent starts next Wednesday. We get to carb load until then.
doggio how sad that Spot must lead such a wretched existence!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. WOE!
Happy Thursday Y’all!
I am sorry to be the bearer of sad news…..it seems we have lost our @Sunny_Daze
boofae - I saw that last night. How sad - she wasn’t very old… ![]()
I know the feeling - There are some patterns I’ve knitted in the past that require honest-to-goodness attention, so no watching TV or even thinking about anything other than the pattern. One was for Daughter and even tho it looked great, I never attempted it again. The other I made for my mom and then for me (I was young and not too bright…) These days, I choose patterns that I can learn after a few rows, then go on semi-autopilot. Paying attention takes the relaxation out of the whole process.
Well, he avoided kissing me, and the hugs were with both of us standing, so he was breathing on my legs - I think I’m good. ![]()
Starting the day here at 34 Ferrets, but it’s not supposed to hit 40, so, shall we say, a brisk day ahead? Then many 40s and 50s with a couple of 60s tentatively promised. Of course, it’ll drop below freezing at night for a while. But no more snow, theoretically. Poor Tobias bemoaned the lack of playing in the snow this year. There was a nice layer, but it was topped with a thick crust of ice. Not at all conducive to snowmen and snow angels. Ah well…
Today includes a lot of erranding. FCD needs 'nanners. I have a package to return to Da Jungle. I have to pick up some meds. I need to run to the Mart of the Wal, and I want another barrel of Clancy’s pretzel rods from Aldi. So I can make a circle of sorts, but the UPS place doesn’t open till 9, as does Aldi, so I need to time my start accordingly.
I was amazed to get an email from Princess (the cruise line) about my repeated requests to fix my account, since I can’t log in and so far the “help” I’ve gotten consists of “Reset your password!” I’ve reset it so many times, I don’t know what the latest iteration is. Anyway, I should get a call today or tomorrow from someone who said he can help. I hope so - this will be my 4th cruise with them, and I’m pretty sure that entitles me to some bennies.
And we’re pretty sure the Sandpiper will be afloat again early next week (did I mention that already?) At that point, we won’t do anything else till spring when it’s warm enough to work on it. The only boat-related project till then it refurbishing the dinghy and making it a cover. And that can be done in the shop.
Speaking of which - remember the path I cleared? Well, it’s now a slippery path of muddy muck, so we have to walk in the snow!! Luckily, it’s snow, not ice, so the slip-and-fall hazard is worse on the cleared area than on the snow. I dread seeing the yard after everything melts. But that’s something to deal with at some future date.
Meanwhile, I’ll finish my surfage, shower, dress, and go erranding.
Happy Thursday!!
A cheerful good morning from Elkhart, where it’s 14 ferrets, with a “feels like” of 14.
Today is Darwin Day, when we celebrate the work of a guy who studied the evolution of Beagle dogs, or something like that. ![]()
I have to go to Mishawaka for an allergy jab today, and Mrs. Nott has a haircut after that. I need a haircut myself, so we’ll have to go to Great Clips one of these days.
Things got weird around El Paso, TX recently. The Dept. of Homeland Paranoia shut down the airspace for 10 days/a few hours while they used a laser to shoot down a deadly drug-carrying drone/party balloon. The Dept. did/did not have the authority to do those things. Gosh.
Good morning.
It’s 35F and partly cloudy. Today will contain a mixture of sun and clouds, with a daytime high of 54F.
Sad news about Sunny_Daze. I had been missing her posts here.
Well, the haircut didn’t happen yesterday. It appears an eagle with something hanging from him made contact with wires and the power was blown for nearlly 24,000 people, including my house and where I get my hair cut. It was a pretty wide area. At any rate, at first my stylist said she’d text if the power came back on in time for my appointment, while “encouraging” me to reschedule. When the power came back on, not even an hour later, I texted her and said the power was back, but she texted back and said I needed to reschedule because she had picked up her grandkid.
I have to say, I was kind of irritated. I now have to wait another three weeks to see her. I have been half looking around for a new stylist. I need to put more effort into it.
Since I was dressed and ready for public consumption anyway, I decided I was going to finally purchase a new cell phone. Except, no one had the phone I was looking for. Not available online either. I believe it’s because OnePlus are really pushing their latest phone, but OnePlus 13 is much better. At any rate, I’ll be on the lookout now and just purchase the damn thing the first place I see it.
After my non-satisfactory phone hunt, I went to Costco to pick up a few items, and then came home. I was hoping that I’d get to stay home today, but my dogs are out of food, and the vet hasn’t sent the new bag yet. I’ll have to get some “in-between” food, damn it. They had enough for breakfast this morning, but I don’t have enough for their dinner.
FCM, I hope the account thing is finally straightened out.
BooFae, I hope Troublesome Minion is just “Minion” for the next couple days.
Okay, time for more coffee. Please take care of yourselves.
Well, I screwed the pooch last night. I was talking with Mrs Magill about something while I was laying out my morning and evening pills, and took the wrong set. Unfortunately for me, my morning set includes a time release bupropion. That means for the last twelve hours, I have had much too much serotonin coursing through my brain. The good news was that I was probably in the best mood in my life. The bad news is that I have been trembling uncontrolled for the last twelve hours and sleep was something that happened to other people. I also cannot type worth a damn.
I am so looking forward to tonight when my serotonin levels plummet. I still have some trazadone left - I may take a couple to try to even things out. At least sleep won’t be a problem.
taxes are done and hopefully a refund happens. i celebrated with grilled salmon, mashed potatoes, and green beans. some glop fell out of the sky for about 2 minutes. i guess that was the 20% snow/rain.
left the office key card at home today. argh… i hope this isn’t a portend of things to come.
huzzah on the shower, missred. that must have felt soooo wonderful.
taters, i hope the bp issue is corrected posthaste.
.
Morning all. It’s bright outside but only 42F, but due to get near 60F later today. But hearing that Sunny has passed darkened it a bit, she had been a long-time Mumper and we hadn’t seen her here in many months, and now will never again do so. I mourn.
Maus, I only take 2 pills and both in the morning, so my only boo-boos are when I forget I took it early and take a second dose. Only has happened twice that I recall and no side effects, but hoping you have a long, deep sleep tonight.
boo fae, may your Minion time be troubleless. After all, throttling her, while satisfying for the moment, will get you talked about in public…
Nut, only time I spotted whales close up was in Antarctica, which was a bit cold.
FCM, happy running-around the stores. And hope your cruise account gets fixed.
Knots, real all about that story here in the dope, very odd…
Taters, best luck with the haircut and the salon search, at best I get mine cut every two months and it takes about 10 minutes since there isn’t much left up there. Good luck on the cell phone search, my new Google 10 is pretty good but still figuring things out.
rocky, I usually don’t do my taxes until the start of March, but I think I got all the forms now so may download the Turbo Tax (or pick up the CD at Staples) and get them done next week. We’ll see, I think I may owe the US Gub’mint some $$ as I closed out a account at Edward Jones to buy my car last year. We’ll see how it goes.
And fast has been broken so onward into the day. Have a good one all.
Sorry to hear about our Sunny_Daze. She hasn’t posted in the MMP for a long time. Godspeed, friend,
I guess that just shows how lapsed I really am. ![]()
I saw it on FB first, then checked out the memorial thread here.
{{{wizard}}}
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Laundry is on the slate for today, but not until afternoon. Given the size of my kitchen and the fact that my portable washing machine takes up most of the business end, I have to wash between meals.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
My counsellor is right near my church. I really should pop in on Ash Wednesday on my way. Probably won’t, though.
Looks like a good photo for the February photo contest!
Breakfast sandwiches this morning. Shopping later. I have to buy some of the ingredients for the adobada, including three pounds of pork shoulder.
Likely to hit 40F today, maybe more. A nice sunny day in the Ciudades Gemelas.
