OK, I'll Start The MMP

So I hit the sto today for something, first full day of Phase 1. Lots of people, but more facemasks. But light on chicken and pig.

mmmmmmm…coffee…

Yay for getting your cat back!

: squirts aloe at nellie : Hope you didn’t burn too much.

No soap was needed. The thing actually went together fairly easily.

metal mouse, I seriously doubt if I’ll be called as a witness. I’ll likely make an affidavit in addition to what has already been notarized, but it will be the security camera footage and the electronic serial numbers of the stolen phones that will put them away.

I got the new table and chairs put together without any more cursing than is normal for a Saturday morning, washed, dried, folded and put away four loads of laundry, stripped and made the bed, took the old table, chairs and packaging to the dumpster, took Nelson to the dog park (his bestie Watson was there and a sweet boxer mix, Billy came over from the big dog side for a romp) and made fish tacos, cilantro/lime slaw and black beans for supper. I’s tahred! Chillage in the studio and watching TV is what’s shaking at CasaRoja tonight.

Stay healthy y’all!

I wasn’t very clear in my last post, was I? Sorry! I inherited my Italian mama’s olive complexion, so the worry isn’t burning. Sunshine is bad, bad, bad for people with lupus. The UV rays wreak havoc in many ways. My arms get red blotches on them not because I’m burning, but because the UV light messes with my already messed-up capillaries and makes them leak. So my blotchy arms are my canary-in-a-cage: they tell me to go home. I oughta listen.

Beck: you’re wise to listen to VOW. That gal knows what she’s talking about.

flyboy, do you really prefer bottled Margarita mix to the homemade, fresh kind, or is there some particular brand that’s so stellar, homemade isn’t worth it? Just wondering.

It’s just easier to get the bottled stuff. I do enough in the kitchen.

“Egyptian Rat Screw” woke up some dormant brain cell that’s been unconscious for decades. I remember that game! Or, at least, I remember the name.

Thank you for the long distance/virtual congrats, everyone. I get down on myself very easily and often, and the shitty demons in my head get very loud. But thanks to y’all, I had a moment just now of quite literally thinking to myself, “Hey. I am pretty awesome. Look! All these people said so!” Thank you all for that.

**Tabbie **- yay for kitteh reunion!! And yay for reasonable landlords! But how will you smuggle cat litter in without the neighbors seeing? Then again, I don’t suppose everyone buys it in 40# boxes like I do?

The whole household is asleep, but the breakfast casserole is in the oven because it takes about an hour to bake and I don’t want to mess around with guessing what time to start it. Late risers can reheat their plate. I have spoken!

**FCD **submitted his design work yesterday and unless he gets some questions early on Moanday, he’s done with that project for a couple of weeks. I’ll need to get his laptop to him in rehab, but we’ll work that out when the time comes. Meanwhile, today he’ll be installing the cypher lock I bought for his shop.

Daughter’s BIL works in the place where she applied and he said the position is vacant because the previous occupant was promoted. He’s going to put in a personal word for her, so unless they’ve pre-selected and the announcement is just a formality, his word might just help. The announcement remains open till the end of this week, so we must wait a while.

I shall continue gathering the stuff we need to take to my mom’s tomorrow. I’m starting to get nervous about this surgery. I’m not ready to be a widow and I’ve got to stop thinking about that possibility, dammit. Stoopit over-active imagination… Happy thoughts~~~~~

Happy Sunday!

happy Mother’s day to all of out MMP Moms!

Afternoon, mumpers! Today our fine sunny weather has given way to cool winds and lots of grey clouds. I don’t mind, means the Polish idiots next door will stay inside so we get some peace from the 1980s techno music they like playing at full volume when they’re outside.

We had an eventful weekend after all - I spent most of Friday finishing my project for work so that’s now done. I had to email the course trainer about one thing so hopefully she’ll reply to that tomorrow and then I can upload it and forget all about it. Metalmouse, the course is accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management so we don’t get an A grade (I think these days it’s A* now, or maybe two stars, hard to keep track), instead you get a pass or a good pass, and if you do really badly it’s a referral and you get to try again. There have been five assignments, I passed all of those and got good passes for some sections of those too. The final two units didn’t have an assignment, they combine to form the project instead. I wrote around 12.5K words so that should be quite enough!

On Saturday we decided to walk into the town centre, it’s about a mile from home. The open-air market which had been closed since March was opening up again so 'im indoors said he’d like to go and see what it was like. His favourite butcher has a stall there and is his regular brisket supplier. It was a nice walk, and on the way we found our second favourite butcher was open, they only have a small shop so only one person allowed in at a time. He bought a large quantity of chicken thighs, some pork steaks with a hot and spicy coating, and a big pork joint so he’s putting that on for few hours and it’ll be pulled pork tonight.

The market was quiet, probably because it was late in the day when we got there, they had a separate entrance and exit roped off, and a one-way direction around the outer edge of the market. Only a few stalls were open, one of them was his favourite butcher so he got some brisket from her. The Jamaican food stall was also open and we got six tubs of hot and spicy curry mix from there, it’s the only place that sells it in town so we were lucky. Only the meat and fish stalls were open today, the baker had a notice saying they’re opening on Tuesday, one of the veg traders was there but none of the others so it might be busier next week.

After that, we went to one other store to get decent bread rolls and ham, and I managed to track down a couple of cartons of lactose-free semi-skimmed milk. My supermarket hasn’t had any for ages so I’ve had to buy skimmed and full-fat, and combine the two to get the right taste.

Today is going to be a quiet one, I might vacuum the floors, then again I might lay on the sofa with a book. Decisions, decisions.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until seven-fifteen this mornin’. ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 81 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Today’s agenda includes intartoobz church at ten a.m. and the makin’/eatin’ of N.O.L. which shall be beastloaf, peas and butterbeans with okra, mac & cheese, cornbread, and peach cobbler with ice cream. NUM! Chillage shall ensue this afternoon.

Tabbie yay for gettin’ to keep kitteh at your place!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the two and four legged Mommy Mumpers!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Forgot to mention - it was THIRTY-FIVE FREEKIN’ DEGREES this morning when I let Higgs out! But from the looks of the long-range forecast, by the end of the week, we should be back to more or less normal May weather. Still a couple more really chilly nights ahead, tho.

Roxy and I have breakfasted, but no one else is up yet. Buncha slugs!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. It only got down to 40 this morning.:dubious: But at least the Murder Hornets will be sluggish for a bit.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

I celebrate, because I’ve been called “mother” a lot.

Dot, Shoe, “Egyptian Rat Screw” sounds like a cocktail I’d like to try.

On yesterday’s drive, the odometer turned 89898 on the way home. Unless I was reading it backwards. In that case, it read 89898.

Yay on the kitty reunion tabbie!

I woke up around four with a cramp in the arch of my right foot that just wouldn’t go away. After a bit, I took a muscle relaxer and finally got back to sleep. I slept until a little after eight, when Nelson started getting restless and giving me doggy kisses to get me up. :stuck_out_tongue: Not a whole lot on the slate today other than the usual Sunday chores, so I may get a nap in.

Happy mother’s day! to all of the Mumper mom’s.

Morning all. Solved all the Sudoku’s and word jumbles this morning, so my brain seems to be working OK. Shiny and 70F today, may get out for a walk here this afternoon.

No luck ordering from Outback for dinner; tried 5-6 times, let me put the order in and then refused to accept it. Sent them a note letting them know I was displeased.

So I’ll figure something out.

Oh, and Happy Mother’s Day to all Moms, here or there.

tabbie, good news on the cat; hopefully she’s a house-cat and won’t be tempted to wander.

hippy, glad things are going well for daughter. Sounds like she and her customers are accommodating to the circumstances.

dot, thanks for the card lesson. Never player/heard of it before, and being single, it would look silly if I kept slapping my own hand…last card game I played was on a cruise with friends-Cards against Humanity.

nellie, feel better soon, hope the lupus doesn’t raise a fuss.

To everyone else, since there was mucho posting since I last visited, a very pleasant Sunday and hugs. tears, and humor as much as you need.

Now, back to Virtual Railfan and watch the trains…

Happy Sunday!

It’s 35 degrees outside at this side of the state too, but the sun is shining and there is no wind, so nicer outside than it was yesterday…
Lily came by for a playdate, and the dogs ran and ran. My two are sleeping for now.
Ripple cracked up Lily’s mom this morning, I don’t know what got into him.
Lily and Echo got into a fight again. She always jumps in to break them up, I think as long as there is no blood let them work it out. They are pretty evenly matched, Lily is bigger, but Echo is quicker and more agile.
I think whatever tension there is between them won’t go away until they work it out without interference, and while it’s a lot of noise and sounds scary, they aren’t really hurting each other.
Anyway, she got a grip on Lily and I got a grip on Echo, and Ripple just bounced right up to Lily, doing his play bows and his bunny hops. It’s unusual for him to get so goofy and silly. Had her laughing so hard.
Ripple worries me, sometimes he just ain’t right in the head. I’ve seen him at the park wanting to jump in and play when two other dogs are fighting. He has to know the other dogs are fighting, and he is definitely playing.

My son got a 98 out of 100 on the big assignment that he was worried about. The professor told them that their report was the most complete and best she had ever seen. My son was so worried about it, so he is quite happy with the 98.
So food science is done, and he has an A in that class. New business ventures is done and should be an A. His final is marked late but it wasn’t late, he needs to email the professor for that unless the exam being late doesn’t affect his grade.
He has to take the final for global marketing, and write his final paper for history of jazz and he is done.
I will be so HAPPY!!!
He also has to have an exit interview about the loans he took out, except he didn’t take out any loans. Thanks to pell grants, scholarships, and a little help from my mother and me, he is graduating debt free.

The sausage casserole didn’t turn out so good. It’s not horrible, just needs something. I put green chilies in it and nothing. I would have put green pepper in it but my son doesn’t like them.
It’s Italian sausage, eggs, cream, cream cheese, taco cheese, and green chilies.

I got everything on my list done except taking a picture for irk. I’ll do that today, which means putting on some makeup and doing something with my hair.

I need to getup and do something, I keep falling asleep/

We are getting the rain that was promised so it makes for a lazy day which makes me want to nap. I have the collards in the jet pot and half the ham in the oven along with a sweet tater. I have a small headache so I don’t know if the tater salad will happen or not. I can scare up something else easier and quick. Maybe some mac and cheese in the insta pot once the greens are done.

There are fires burning in the Everglades or were before this rain and that may be part of my sinus/headache woes.

I paid my credit card bill yesterday and while doing that I checked the activity and there was a $219 charge for Hyatt Place in Germantown. I have never been there, have no desire to go and did not make the charge. I called Discover and they cancelled my card and are sending a new one and opened a fraud investigation. They are going to reverse the charge. The only reason I was checking was to see if a plumbing charge went through. Now I will need to call the plumber to give them a new card.

BuddyBoy has a Vet appt tomorrow morning for a booster shot and a toenail trim, ear cleaning and whatever else he needs. The Vet is asking customers to call once in the parking lot and they will fetch the pet while the owner waits outside. I told them to bring out a muzzle so I can put it on him as he is not friendly. Poor little misunderstood Buddy. Strange animal.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mama’s and pet mama’s out there.

I called my mom to wish her Happy Mommy Day, then I headed outside. I dug up 3 iris for her - I could give her 3 dozen and not notice!

Then I pulled up weeds and saplings around FCD’s shop. The fill dirt was full of paulownia seeds - OMG, I hate them!! It may take a couple of years to get rid of them, altho we’ve got a guy coming in to put down cloth and bluestone, so maybe that’ll discourage them. I also yanked up a bunch of Virginia creeper that was starting to creep up the back of the building. That stuff moves in fast! The building has been up less than a year.

Next, I got out the push mower and did the hill in the back that the riding mower can’t do, and then I mounted ol’ John Deere and mowed the rest of the back yard.

Everything is in the car but our personal clothes and toiletries - we’ll have time in the morning to do that. And **FCD **just finished installing the cypher lock on the shop. It drove me crazy that he never locked it, especially considering the high $$$ computers that live in there.

Roxy is with her other grandmother, and I have an afternoon of sloth ahead. I’ve declared that everyone is responsible for their own supper. Chillage shall ensue!

I became a grand-uncle this morning! Welcome to the world, Theo Wren!

What ended the snoring?

Y’all are lucky you can go to the vet. The vets up here are only seeing emergencies.
I’m going to call tomorrow though and see if I can get Echo in to be spayed anytime soon.
It would be nice to get that done and have her heal before the park opens - which is scheduled for June 6.
Knowing the way things have been going, she’ll come in heat right about then.

It’s gotten nice outside, 59 degrees, and I am stuck inside irking.

My dinner will be either something with the turkey, or sausage casserole. I may try it with some salsa on it.
My son said he didn’t like it so much, yet he still ate two big squares of it.
