OK, PETA Now I'm listening!

This is an ad NBC refused to run during the SUper Bowl (NSFW). (It is not gross or disgusting, quite the opposite.)

OK PETA, I am intrigued by your ideas and wish to subscribe to your newsletter. (not really, but still…)

They probably would’ve been in the clear if it hadn’t been for the frame at :23. :smack:

Remember kids, nekkid boobs and the super bowl = intranational incident.

The is all about priming the pump for the newest rights organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Vegetables, PETV. Not only is it unethical to eat them, it is also unethical to have sex with them.

Hold up…I thought it was People for the Erotic Treatment of Vegetables.

Erm…excuse me…

See? Told ya, if they’d stick to nekkid Pam Anderson protests instead of being dicks at the circus; they’d hold our attention better.

That ad reminds me of the letter to Dan Savage in which a guy described that, among other disturbing behaviors, his girlfriend thought it was hilarious to use a cucumber as a dildo, then cut it up in a salad she served to the boyfriend’s mom and sister - in full awareness of how offensive this was to the boyfriend. Unsurprisingly, Savage said to DTMFA.

Sometimes they can be quite clever. I am absolutely sure they wanted this ad refused.

I thought the same thinkg jjimm, the put an ad out that NBC rejects then post it on youtube and it gets seen for free.

Seriously, does PETA have any affiliation with Comedy Central? I can’t help but laugh at everything they publish.

PETA: Where only women are treated like meat.

They’re also becoming quite a Pain En’ The Ass

People Eating Tasty Animals

Here are the reasons NBC decided to pull the ad:

* licking pumpkin

* touching her breast with her hand while eating broccoli

* pumpkin from behind between legs

* rubbing pelvic region with pumpkin

* screwing herself with broccoli (fuzzy)

* asparagus on her lap appearing as if it is ready to be inserted into vagina

* licking eggplant

* rubbing asparagus on breast

Now, I’m no fan of censorship, but I don’t believe NBC is being unreasonable here. As adults, we can all watch this maturely, but I could see where NBC wouldn’t want kids at home asking their parents, “Mommy, why is that lady putting vegetables in her crotch and not her mouth?” And that’s a perfectly valid question. Vegetables lose most of their nutritional value when inserted into the wrong orifice.

On the other hand, I’m quite sure that there will be no shortage of other ads on NBC that find other ways to objectify women that are just as damaging. So maybe NBC’s splitting hairs here. I hope the two sides can come to a friendly compromise.

A good compromise would be for every member of PETA to get eaten by a tiger during half-time. I do believe that would be a rating winner. I known I’d watch, and I haven’t watched a football game in over a decade.

It would surely go down as in instant classic, perhaps even surpassing the popularity of the Budweiser frogs and Apple’s “1984” ad. They could even bring in Roy and have a tiger finish the job - to succeed where Montecore had failed.

They never expected that ad to be accepted. They’re getting more publicity by it being rejected. :rolleyes:

Merged two threads on the ad. And whiterabbit is right, of course. DNFTPETA.

And that’s a good thing for all of us to remember.

Valentine’s Day is coming up. Maybe I’ll get her another present instead. :smiley:

Looks like they’ve got plenty of food…

That much is obvious. Fuck PETA.
