OK, whadja get?

That’s OK. After all, it’s inimitzable…

This sounds super interesting. What exactly did you get? I’ll want to look into it

Is this from something? I find it strange that it’s said twice

As for me: A Packers Tshirt, a Jordy Nelson jersey(!!!), a wonderful book from my girlfriend, tons of giftcards and money (I never want anything so this is what I get)

FROM DAD: cash, and the book Why Jazz (I’m a jazz musician)

FROM MOM: cash, and a Kindle Voyage (I already had a Paperwhite; the Voyage is better)

FROM BRO: the Shipley Proposal Guide (my day job is proposal writing/managing) and a book called Modern Reading Text in 4/4 For All Instruments (“Designed to teach syncopation within 4/4 time, the exercises also develop speed and accuracy in sight-reading with uncommon rhythmic figures.”)

All great stuff!

I haven’t done the gift exchange with my best friends yet: we were supposed to get together the weekend before Christmas, but there was illness on their end and then they went out of town. I’m hoping to see them this weekend, but we haven’t set anything up yet.

I’m currently reading that.

If you mean a Griddler (basically a George Foreman Grill on steroids)… I have one and it is my favorite of all kitchen appliances.

Selections:

From Mr Boods: an annotated book on the 10th anniversary of Modern Toss and a pair of 3rd C AD gold earrings.

From the in-laws: a voucher for a chain of drug stores.

From myself: shopping trip to Brighton (picked up some nice clothing for lectureing and public talks from one of my fave shops, a pair of antique cameo earrings from the North Laines, and a fab hair accessory from the Tegan shop in the Laines) & a three day rampage in London (some good pieces from the second hand couture shop I like plus two shows in the West End). A couple of secondhand books to flick through over the holiday break including John Cleese’s autobiography. I also hit up an extortionately priced ‘American Food Shop’ in London and paid more for a couple of 3 Musketeers than I would have for the equivalent weight in pure cocaine, but the effects on me are about the same, so whatever.

Brother sent me a Yamaha AudioGram 3 instrument/voice mixing device that attaches to a computer. I’m a bit dumbfounded on how to even start using it and I need to find an XLR microphone to replace the one I donated to Goodwill :smack: years ago. (WordMan, I might be poking you for advice.)

MIL and Step-DIL got me the Die Hard DVD Collection (Xmas movies! ;)) because it was on my list. I was happy enough that they put Wife and I up for the holiday visit, but I guess Wife also sent them a copy of my wish list.

BIL and his spouse gave me an Amazon gift card.

Wife bought everyone dinner on Boxing Day because our sleigh ride got snowed out. [Yeah, there’s supposed to be snow, but the roads to the resort were too hazardous to attempt.] But it was quite an awesome dinner with her mother, brother, and their spouses (spise?:dubious:)

Wife got me RockSmith 2014 (with the cable) because my friend has one and wanted me to get a copy, too, but I was too stingy to buy it for myself.

Just after Thanksgiving, I made a deal with my boss: I’d buy his old Sena BlueTooth Helmet Audio unit (paying 2/3rds the cost of a retail version) and he’d be able to throw that cash on his purchase of the new Sena unit (and end up paying 2/3rds the cost of a retail version). Before I left for my Xmas trip, I handed my boss a Franklin note. For Xmas, he said, “This is just gonna gather dust, 'cause I won’t use it.” and he handed it back to me.

Another Year Over
A new one’s just begun

Happy Xmas (War is Over)

It’s from “Alice’s Restaurant”.

Alice, by the way, had an idea for cutting cat access holes in her doors, and a friend of hers copied her, and then we copied that as it’s a mutual friend. True!
