Mickey. He had a devilish glint to his eyes that I even picked up on as a kid. He could’ve gotten me in trouble, for sure!
Wow, that sounds cool.
I love them all for equal ways. But I picked Nesmith. Woolhat for the win!
Peter. He was so sweet and mis-understood! (Didn’t you see Head??)
In the same sort of pecking order I got Micky for my very own. Davy was so cute, with his cute accent, but I don’t remember who wound up with Davy, who was pretty much everyone’s first choice. Well, at first anyway. As time went on and we had more than looks to go on, our choices became more varied. I still loved Micky, and that hasn’t changed to this day.
My order was
- Mike
- Davy
- Peter
- Micky
Davy was my first choice at first, but once I had watched a couple shows he quickly slipped into second place. Really, a tie for second place with Peter. Cute will always get me in the beginning but smart always wins the day.
Except…I did worry about him wearing that hat all the time.
Mike all the way. My best friend loved Micky. It was easy to find someone to be Davy when we played Monkees, but nobody ever wanted to be Peter.
Mike!
Years before I would ever kiss a boy, I saw an episode where a woman kisses each Monkee (I think there was a “who’s the better kisser” thing going on): it made me want to kiss Mike, too.
This was basically me, except I flipped around between Mike and Mickey at #2.
It seems I had a thing for the cute-but-geeky ones from a very young age…
Okay, I haven’t seen this show since I was a little girl, but I remember loving Peter and Mickey about equally. It sounds like as an adult I’d go for Mike, though. Are the episodes online anywhere?
There’s an episode where all four boys are in love with the same girl–April Conquest, played by the statuesque Julie Newmar (Standing next to Davy, she looked like she could tuck him under one arm and carry him off without any effort).
Anyway, all the boys are trying to court her in their different ways. Mike rides up on a motorcycle wearing a leather jacket, and she gets on the bike behind him. I remember seeing that as a young girl; the way she reached around him from behind to run her hands up his chest made me think that that might be nice thing to do.
Micky, I only found cute when he let his hair grow out curly and wore that tablecloth as a poncho.
Not a girl, but I answered the poll for the fiancee: Davy.
Davy. Between the accent, the looks, and the shortness, he made my heart go all pitter-pat. I’m still a sucker for a UK accent of any kind. Davy could have been the ugliest and tallest and he would have been my favorite, just for that accent.
Yeah, I prefer the shorter guys. Bite me.
Peter all the way. In the late sixties I had a pink tee-shirt that featured a cute photo of Peter Tork with his floppy spaniel hair. On the back, the tee-shirt said I LOVE PETER. Sometimes I would hear people laughing behind me, and only in later years did I realize that there was a double-entendre situation going on back there.
