Okay, so we're the ones that didn't go to the big Vegas shin-dig

Why not?

For me (and DeathLlama, too) it’s the misfortune of the timing. The first day of school is tomorrow, which makes for a very busy weekend. And of course, as another thread I started mentioned, my grandfather passed away on Saturday. I really would have liked to go, too. I’ve never been to Vegas, and it isn’t that far of a drive.

What’s your story?

I live on the east coast. I’m saving my pennies for a trip to Sweden. I was at the Norfolk Dopefest last weekend. I didn’t want to get on a plane, or in a car, all weekend.

How are those excuses? I hope everyone had fun, though, and that there were many changes involved.

Driving from St Louis to Vegas is not an option to me, plus I have to work. I don’t have any more vacation days coming up until October.

I need my money to keep up with the lushes I’ll be meeting in Dublin.

I’m too hideous to allow myself to be seen IRL by my friends here at the SDMB.

Well, I’m only 18. It wouldn’t have been a problem, but my BF isn’t 21 yet (two weeks to go), so I couldn’t stay anywhere. Plus, I have no money.

Not enough cash.

My husband and I may be going on a trip this spring, and we couldn’t afford two huge excursions. Sigh. I need more money.

It is a fairly cheap plane ride from Salt Lake City, but I just came back from Vegas (April and again in June) and will be going again in October for our big office softball tournament.

I also had company staying here from out of town.

Ving told me all I’d lost all my Vegas privileges after that incident with the showgirl at the AAA World Series last year.

I have less than little cash for anything these days. I live in VA, which is about as far as one can get from Vegas without being on a boat/ship. Plus I had to go to mass.

Arrgh. Bratman, darn it. I’m in KC. You could have driven to KC, and I would have driven the rest of the way! Darn it darn it.

I had nothing to do this weekend, either.

Well I was at an impromptu gathering in the lovely city of San Francisco.

I was with:

Omniscient
Sue Dunhym
OldScratch
JackBatty
Democritus
Psycat

I had a great time. Perhaps i should do a minutes thread?

I’m broke-ass broke.

I guess I’m the first DopeCon 'Vegas 2000 survivor to crawl back to the board. Next year’ll be even better, we’ll all just have to think about it far enough in advance.

(All of the pictures Techie’s going to post are fakes!! Not to be believed for a moment!!)

Beatle - MINUTES!

And Doob, yes, we want a minutes thread. I want to see how y’all and Omni did…and I’m SO jealous he got to meet you. :frowning:

Uh… well…

  1. Broke
  2. Gatherings like this usually aren’t family compatible.

It breaks sweet baby Jesus’s heart when I stray from the path of Righteousness and Truth. All you people who went to that Den of Iniquity, must now REPENT or be damned to the everlasting fires of HELL. If the Lord wanted me to go, he wouldn’t have made me so broke and far away.

You’re scaring me, tater ;)!

Well, you all should have gone, because you all missed out on one heck of a party.

Wait, Ruffian started this thread?

Oh, hey Laura! Yeah, it sure was a pity we didn’t get to go, what with me being bedridden and quarantined all weekend. Boy, that really sucks. I didn’t even get to see you once the whole time we just sat around here in L.A. Yeah, didn’t want you to get whatever it was I had. Well, maybe next year we’ll be able to go together, I mean, maybe we’ll get to go.

(whew, that was close)

I spent all my money being a good Mom and going to Chicago to see my son graduate from Navy Boot Camp. Now the ungrateful brat has volunteered to go to BAHRAIN!!!
