They’re back with a shiny new video. The visuals reflect back on a number of their previous videos and maintain the tradition of one-takes.
Amazing stuff. It’s incredible all the work they put into these videos.
Thanks for posting that - I really enjoyed it.
Great!
Kaleidescope background through practical effects. Not sure I’ve ever seen that!
My favorite parts of the videos are always the quick glances we get of the looks on the guys’ faces when you can tell they are concentrating hard on hitting their marks but have also been told to “look natural.” I can feel their stress and relate!
The lead singer and the bald guy seem to be the best at keeping their composure.
I don’t know if Dan(the bald guy) is capable of facial expressions.
Behind the scenes video.
They say something about this being the most complex video they’ve ever done. I think they have short memories.
The practical kaleidoscope mixed with cgi reminds me of this old video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5FyfQDO5g0
I seem to be one of today’s 10,000.
And have just spent rather too much of the day watching OkGo videos.
Well, that was neat!
There is no such thing as too much OkGo videos.
No; but there’s such a thing as spending time watching them when I really ought to be doing something else.
I don’t recall seeing the drummer in this one.
That was impressive. But, for me, nothing they do will ever top “Needing/Getting” in terms of precision and behind the scenes work. And it’s a better song, too.
If something else involves CPR or a tourniquet, I’ll give you a pass.

Starting at 1:20, he’s the one in the bright pink top. He also now has a beard.

That was impressive. But, for me, nothing they do will ever top “Needing/Getting” in terms of precision and behind the scenes work.
That is a pretty amazing video, but in my book the absolute zenith (heh, pun intended) of their video-making career is Upside Down & Inside Out. Choreographing those scenes around parabolic arcs on the vomit comet had to be astoundingly difficult to manage, and I imagine they only got so many rehearsal attempts before the plane rental budget ran out.
In any case, they’ve certainly come far since the treadmill video…

They had an idea and they ran with it.
“Inside Out and Upside Down” is my favorite by a small margin as each video is so unique. I think what’s even more remarkable is how much corporate sponsorship they had yet they retained total creative control and the sponsor had very minimal exposure overall.

They had an idea and they ran with it.
OK, that made me literally LOL
Nitpick: it’s “Upside Down and Inside out”. That’s a good one. It’s probably my second favorite OkGo video. I have to give first place to The One Moment.
I’ve long had the sense that these guys were the sorts who, as children, played a lot of games like Mousetrap and set up intricate rows of dominoes.

Based on the video for This Too Shall Pass, I’d agree.
