I’ll have to do the same thing when I meet my new PCP in a month.
Speaking of pies, I keep passing what appears to be a good pie shop in my neighborhood. I’m going to stop for a slice one of these days.
I make my grandmother’s golumpki and, true to its Polish roots, has raisins in it. It actually offsets the beef nicely.
My post blood draw stop used to be Sonic or Bojangles, neither of which is in my neighborhood. On the plus side, Houston still has Church’s Chicken, although I don’t know if they’re open for breakfast.
I did the homework and set up an appointment with my new PCP this morning, then went to Xfinity to get my phone set up with them, but wasted the trip because I forgot my new sim card (AT&T doesn’t seem to want to let go of my phone, so I have to get the store to do it). Then I picked up a few groceries, came home, walked Nelson, sorted a few things (didn’t finish) and mad a pot of aig roll soup. I had forgotten to buy fresh ginger, so I used some ground. Not as good as fresh, but not bad either.
‘I know it’s Thursday, but I don’t really feel like going out tonight.’ Being Thursday, I hadn’t planed on cooking. She said ‘That’s all right. I can fend for myself.’ So I’ll have to fend for myself. Maybe I’ll back some chicken tenderloins and make a salad.
Oh, my. Peach, cherry and lemon cream (not meringue!) my three favourites!
We ordered something – don’t remember what – a few years back. Two or three days later it was here in CT, about thirty miles from here. Then it went to TX for a couple of days, before returning to CT, and being delivered the next day.
The recipe calls for currants – how do you feel about them? Or I suppose you could replace them with additional dates. (Maybe figs?)
In October 2023, they were fixing one of the belts at work and found some envelopes. One of them was a check to a real estate company from March. Of 2020. I hope they still got the house and survived the Plague.
Yay!
Maggie Wonderbeagle once ate an ottoman(I confused Naugahyde and rawhide. I love you very much.- Maggie)
I fended for both of us tonight. I had about a half of a pound of (very nice) ground beef in the freezer that I’d just bought today. (Ground beef & broccoli for my lunch today.) I thawed it in the microwave oven, then browned it, drained it, and added taco seasoning. Low-carb whole wheat tortillas, shredded medium cheddar, and sour cream (plus green onion and Tapatio for me), and we each had a burrito. There’s meat enough for one more. When all else fails, wrap something in a tortilla.
Time for my late-night final. The U8 team has been coached, but Mon Dieu, keeping their attention for more that 10 seconds is impossible (at least for me). I’ll survive the season but not coaching anything younger than U10’s again. Warmer tonight, not supposed to get below 70F, but still cool enough to let the AC have the night off. Arms are a little sore where I got my shots but nothing serious.
Into the Scroll-light Zone.
Oopsie, that was a generous and kind gesture to your ex- and I hope Bailey appreciates it.
VanGo, hope the new phone is enjoyed; I still have the one I bought a couple years ago and while it is probably horribly outdated by now, it serves my purpose so i have no major need to replace it.
I could probably get 40 of 50 state capitals right, but doubt that i could get them all.
Never had (to the best of my memory) any major cravings after a blood draw, albeit I probably snacked something since i almost always snack something anyways.
And that’s all for this report. Of to watch a little more tackleball and head off to bed. Take care all and I’ll catch you on Firday.
Thank you, luv. I posted in the Pit to keep that level of negativity out of here, but I know Mumpers are a supportive bunch, too. I just needed to vent more, uh, thoroughly.
It helped to work open → close tonight. Good distraction. Customers were friendly, the teens on the crew kept their drama to themselves, we weren’t ever so slammed that people got stressed…
I’ll (hopefully) get my current financial woes in order, and I survived yet another anniversary of outliving the only person I ever truly loved.
… and Monkey is curled up next to my knee. So, yanno, I’ve got that goin’ for me.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 90 and sunny. The weather will be the same where I am headed later this mornin’. The big item on today’s agenda is a three hour drive to Honey Creek and gettin’ learnt up which will begin around fourish this afternoon. I can check in at the lodge from noon onward. I plan to get there a couple hours before start time so I can get in some chill time. I won’t post while I am there as I am not takin’ any devices other than my phone. I don’t do well postin’ from my phone.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I must purtify, pack, and don acceptable attire. Casual is the word at Honey Creek, so jeans and tshirts it shall be.
Yesterday was a whirlwind. Off to Canton to see the doctor with stops in Green to check on my prescription and drop off some diet forks to the art gallery. Then we stopped at Costco, but neither my mom or myself were feeling the greatest by then, so we got what we went in for and left and came home.
Today the girls are coming over to clean since we weren’t home yesterday. My apologies if I already mentioned this… I’m going to have them work on the patio to get ready for the ramp to be painted either tomorrow or Sunday, depending on rain. The best news on that front is that MusicMan has only slightly hesitantly agreed on our color choice which is a dark purple that matches our doors. Yay!
I hopefully only have to work a half day or less today and then maybe a nap, but definitely a trip to the hardware store to buy the paint and some gloves for the girls to wear.
Same here - I feel like someone punched me in the arm. FCD had a bit of a fever last night, but he’s fine this morning - we assume it was a reaction to the shots. I’ve been moving my arm hoping to minimize the ache but that’s not helping. Oh well - I’m safe from plague and the flu anyway.
It’s funny - a week or so ago, I was trying, without luck, to remember the capitol of New Jersey. I used to know them all, but these days I can’t brain too good. Dammit.
{{{shoe}}} I can’t even imagine.
Being Firday, it’s laundry day. I’m also planning to run the carpet cleaner thru most of the living room. I’m not removing big furniture, but I’ll move and/or remove what I can. We have a ceiling fan in there which should help with drying. Once upon a time, I could do all 3 rooms and the hallway in a matter of a few hours. Not so much any more. Gotta pace myself.
Anyway, them’s the big plans. It’s supposed to get close to 90° today and tomorrow - I guess I should close the house and turn on the a/c when we hit 80-ish. Alas!!
Sheveled, as always.
Off to an actual interview; I have a good feeling about this. Same place I went the other day.
Then Y, grocery store, bible study later.
I’m working Sunday, so I have today off. It seems to me that my time off is not coming at a good time in relation to the science park project. The contractors are taking longer than they planned, so now critical decisions need to be made and I’m going away. I think I’ve got everything sorted for them.
Diet forks??? I’m picturing something with not enough tines to move food.
