Not only have I never seen Stouffers frozen peppers here, Stouffers aren’t even selling their frozen wares in Canada any more. Nothing to do with tariffs, they pulled out of the Canadian market a couple of years ago. Which is a shame because they had one or two really nice frozen dinners I’d often buy for work.
The first half of lunch was mowing the back yard, and the strip between the canopy garage and the neighbour’s house.
Second half was a ‘tuna wrap melt’; a burrito made with tuna-and-egg salad with jalapeños and Swiss cheese inna Carb Balance whole-wheat tortilla, and heated up with a little olive oil in the fajita pan. And coffee.
ETA: Since we didn’t go out last night, The Spousal Unit says we’re going down the beach for dinner tonight. I think I’ll get the grilled Caesar salad with grilled chicken. And negronis.
I’m not a big fan of bell peppers or chile relleno, but I’m mad for pickled cherry peppers stuffed with prosciutto-wrapped provalone or fontina. I used to live in RI, where they were very easy to find. The closest I can find them now is Big City Two Hours Away. I managed to find two jars of Mezzetta Sweet Cherry Peppers at a Fred Meyer, and the discussion of stuffed peppers inspired me to prepare them: Cored and cleaned, stuffed with prosciutto-wrapped fontina (fontina was also hard to find), and chilled in their pickling brine with olive oil and Penzey’s Italian spice mix. Yumm-o.
Howdy from Honey Creek. I got here about two-thirty and have had chili time. I thought stuff got underway at four, but nuttin’ is happenin’ until the openin’ Eucharist at five-thirty. That will be followed by dinner and then the openin’ session which will go until nine. There will be a social time after that which I may or may not go to. That will depend upon whether or not I have had enough of people by then.
The room is OK. As I have said before, the rooms at the lodge remind me of an old roadside motel. Luxurious they ain’t, but the bed is pretty comfy and the a/c works.
Howdy all - about 1830 as I start driveling again. A calm day weather-wise; rainshowewrs have thretened here & there but so far zero skywater within 10 miles of me. What rain we’ve had regionally today is mostly pissing on the fishes, and they don’t much mind getting wet.
You might recall my local car pal here has stood me up for Big Boy meals 3 times in a row now.
I was dressed with car keys in hand to leave for solo breakfast / brunch at 1100 when I suddenly recalled we had a lunch date at 1230 that I was about to forgetfully blow off. Was this date in my calendar? Of course it was; I’m very organised.
A quick txt to confirm he was still on and that became the plan of my day. Got car wash on the way, then we met up as scheduled. A truly stupid amount of yummy Brazilian steakhouse was eaten washed down by a definitely stupid number of caipirinha. Much convo, both earnest and stupid, was had.
He’s now off to visit his aged Mom in the nursing home in Orlando, and I was off to do stupid stuff, eventually to land at home where I am now. I sure don’t need more food and drink today, although zero of each by bedtime 3 hours hence may feel a smidgen light.
On the ever-fascinating (MMPers be weird) domestic front I ran washing machine cleaner, dee-gooped/ de-molded the front loader’s grungy gasket … again … with MoldX, and am now washing the shower curtains. Go me!
There’s an hour left until sunset and we now have high solid overcast, widely scattered showers 20 miles away and the temp is a lovely 81/31 eventually to fall to a downright chilly 76/24.
I’m not sure I have the ambition to get up from my chair to pee, much less to go out and seek further entertainment or sustenance.
I decided to blow off going to Xfinity today (I’ll do that Monday on RDOS time) and finished up the sorting and putting away stuff in the studio. Then…wait for it…I actually did a project! Granted, I had done the die cuts before the move, but at least I assembled something. I also found a few places that I’ll need to tweak to make the work flow better. I think I may be able to pull off this RDOS stuff.
I also moved Nelson’s toys from the mop bucket that they were packed in for the move to his toy box. He found a formerly neglected Wonder Dog that he’s dispatched multiple times, as well as the fetch toys. I have a feeling that I’ll have to take the grabber around before I sweep the floors tomorrow.
Got the new phone, and it is now ensconced in a case. I haven’t used a phone case in years, but after the demise of the last phone, I thought it might be a good idea.
red Those are great! But where’s the tittle on the “hi”.
fcm Good luck with the littles overnight.
The smol dog is coming to work with me on sunday, so we got some supplies (a chuckit, a gnawing thing, some treats) to bring in. She’s now mad at me cuz I made it harder to get through the fence.
Well, I’m doing a number of loads of laundry, mostly towels and bedding now that my friend has left. I also deadheaded the garden. I Took out the compost, too. I might bestir myself to clean the guest bathroom, or I might read and eat cookies. Hard to say.
We went down the beach for ‘dinner’. There are only four parking spaces next to the restaurant, and only the far one was open. Since there was a Honda SUV tailgating me, I put my indicator on and started to pull in. Unfortunately, there were a couple of older women in the SUV in the next space, who needed to put their dog into the carrier in the back seat and get the dog situated.. So I sat there patiently, waiting for them. Once they were clear, I parked. As I got out of the car a woman approached (not from the Honda; a different vehicle) asking if I needed any help. I told her no, and she said, ‘Then get out of the f___ing road!’ I asked her, ‘What am I supposed to do? Run over people?’ I have to tell you, I do not suffer belligerent fools lightly. I took a couple of steps toward her (not to ‘do’ anything, but to do some verbal sparring), and she got back in her vehicle and left. The women with the dog were apologetic, and said a few times that I didn’t deserve that. As we parted, one said, ‘Have a cocktail!’ I assured her we would. This is Birch Friggin’ Bay! Dude! Chill!
Anyway I had the Grilled Caesar with chicken (they get their sun-dried tomatoes from a farm and they’re not in season, so it had halved cherry tomatoes) and a couple of Rob Roys (made with JWB), and The Missus had a Bang Bang Shrimp Salad and a Hemingway Daiquiri. I gave her my croutons, and she gave me her shrimp fins.
ETA: After Impatient Woman Who Can’t Figure Out ‘Go Around’ left, Wifey, RN thought she may be the (always angry) daughter of one of her patients – except she lives in Ferndale, and the patient lives in Bellingham.
I knew it was the first week of September, I just didn’t know the day.
We are your friends too, we really do care.
Give Monks some scritches for me and check your mail.
I can’t find anywhere local that has the updated vaccines yet, I’ll give it a few more weeks and then will just drive to Virginia and get it there. I’d rather get it here, I’ve found that getting jabbed and then doing laps at the gym stops all the soreness.
We only have so much memory storage. We keep the important stuff and discard the detritus.
Sorry, NJ, your capital isn’t nearly as important as remembering that Toby loves strawberries.
She posted a pic a while back. I’d call them RUDE forks if it was me, LOL!
I was management once. I learned my lesson really fast!
Isn’t it great! It takes going outside to remind me to don my glasses because my eyes have always hated the sun. My seriously low reading correction means that my glasses are so light I can barely feel them on my face.
@Baker I used to work for a eye surgery center as an admin assistant. I knew everything that happened, it was my job. During the three years I worked for them (great job, just didn’t pay enough), there were over three thousand cataract surgeries done.
There were a few people a year who had to come back for lazer treatments for floaters - no pain, lots of pretty lights, and ONE person who ended up getting a serious eye infection. Blurred for possibly squickiness. He was the same person who licked the tip of his eye drops to clean the pocket tobacco off before putting the drops in his freshly operated eye, so nobody really had a lot of sympathy for him. He was of course treated with kindness and care, but we talked about him behind his back a bunch. So, don’t do that.
I kinda figured that. I already know that if we got run over by a beer truck, GG would be snatched up within a day. People love the giants.
We have kin who shows Bernese Mountain Dogs. She has a three year waiting list for puppers she sells for three grand each. And those are the neutered pet dogs, she sometimes sells an intact pup that she would show (because she can’t do it all) for around five grand.
Before George, I just trapped ours. Free cats are rarely free either.
I suggest some B&J Cherry Garcia ice cream. You will get dairy, fruit and veggies all at once. Plus, it will cool you down.
I put ganky keyboards in the top rack of our dishwasher (without the heated drying cycle) and then leave it upside down on the porch for a couple of days. I’ve fixed more than a handful of keyboards that way. Plus, it was already broken, so what was the risk?
That sounds like a ‘merican solution to me. I just wait until dark and either knock the nests down with a broom or spray them off the house with the pressure washer. I don’t like throwing chemicals around in my yard, but I’ve been a tree hugger all of my life.
I’m whining about not having enough hobby stuff, its not like I’m buying clothes for a growing teenager or trying to heat my rented home on social security. Happily, I can choose to not buy thread (use what I already have), so many folks can’t just not buy what now costs twice what it did last year.
So you need to sign up for the local Nextdoor and find out what happened. That sounds like something that would be gossiped about for years, so find out and dish so we can also point and laugh.
I used to grumble in the middle of an ocular migraine: I used to pay good money for these sorts of lights, why can’t I schedule them for the weekends?
You aren’t missing anything. The quality has gone way down in the last few years and now the sizes are smaller too.
That’s really all that I want from a room.
Don’t worry overly much about the orgy happening at home, I’m sure they will get everything cleaned up before you get home in the morning!
I just yank it out and wash it with a load of towels. I’m lazy like that.
Laundry is a constant thing here. I change the sheets three or four times a week and we don’t reuse towels.
And now the power is flickering. There are thunderboomers and rain right over us. I’d better stop before everything goes black. (I can hear Hubs rubbing his hands in anticipation of getting able to play with his generator)
The gasket thingy is what keeps the water inside the front loader while it’s running. If I remove it I have a not-watertight clothes washer.
The previous tenant of my apartment was an utter bachelor slob who cleaned absolutely nothing during his time here. Neither did he spring for a housekeeper. But he did have a dog that shed. Lots.
The gasket probably ought to be replaced since even repeated aggressive treatment with bleach and other noxious fungicides still has a large area of black unremovable slime that will not die permanently embedded in the supposedly inert silicone. Can’t scrub it off, can’t scrape it off, can’t chem it off.
That sentence did not end as I expected / hoped. Power failures at night are not for playing with generators; they’re for playing with each other.
I misunderstood. I was talking about the top thing you put your detergent and bleach in cause you typo basket instead. We just wipe the front gasket with vinegar on the first of the month. Of course, we only bought the washer a year ago, so aren’t dealing with past owner’s mistakes.
Oh he’s out there getting all excited about playing with a big boy toy and I just took a nice long shower. I’m still a floozy at heart
Free dogs, too. We literally brought Scruffy in off the street in front of our house. $600 in surgery later, plus I don’t recall how much for grooming (she was a walking mat) anyway, that was our free pup.
Grandspawn are in bed - so far, Tobias has come out twice - once for a bandaid on a boo-boo that looks like it happened 3 or 4 days ago - the scab is that dried - then again because the bedtime music on Alexa stopped playing. I think it timed out. Anyway, they should be zonked out soon. So will I, most likely.
SIL promised they’d reclaim the kids no later than 2. We shall see. I may take them to the playground and have their folks get them there. Depends on how I feel tomorrow. And so ends another day.
Up from naptime. Having a Negroni, with rainbow trout with lemon and butter, and peas, mushrooms, and brown rice. Spot had dry, flavorless bits, and is now napping.
I watched Star Trek: Strange New Worlds last night, and one of the Youtube after shows.
YouTuber: “Pike was lax on discipline compare to other captains.”
Me: "Pike was probably like ‘What is Starfleet Command gonna do, put me in a chair, and make me sit in a corner?’ "
Garth Brooks.
But do they leave the light on for you?
Nifty!
Definitely some side eye in that pic. < skritches >
-10/10. Would not recommend.
I do Nextdoor. It’s mainly “I don’t know” and snarky comments. But I enjoy a good snarky comment, so I got that going for me. Which is nice.
Take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
