(Old) 24 Hours of Labor- A Labor Day MMP

Outside on my “lunch” (smoke) break. There’s a lovely cool breeze, and @JaneDoe42 a coupla trees are juuust starting to show some hints of red at the tips of some branches. (I think it depends on the angle of the primary sun the tree receives.)

Autumn is on the way! Good thing I also brought a cheapie ramen cup - might need to warm up tonight.

… I might also have some tea bags stashed in my locker. That thing is turning into Mary Poppin’s satchel.

Guess I didn’t proofread!

Sis and BIL put off bringing the W/D setup over today. It has rained on and off and he didn’t want the wood to get wet in the back of his truck.

I began a card set and am down to the assembly.

Some things never fade. I am so sorry.

And I’m back home, some calories added and hydration done. Nothing much planned for the evening, call my brother and check in and do some soccer stuff, but nothing too exciting. Next week’s weather shows little or no rain and temperatures back in the 80’s and 90’s, so our little ‘false fall’ seems to be over.

Oopsie, you’re going to need a bigger shelf you keep building things that often…and if your store has them, try Lily’s toaster grills, not delicious but easy to do and not bad at all.

Yep.

shoe, my house is clean enough for me but I suspect you would not approve; don’t sweat it, it’ll get done.

FCM, they are building a new Aldi not to far from me, looks larger than the one I occasionally go to, will have to check it out.

And need to do a couple things and then may call it a short day. Take care all.

Pack crushes the Lions! :cheese_wedge: :100:
Celebrating with a Wisconsin Old Fashioned. Roomie had to use my computer to fill out some online paperwork. Spot had a meltdown because the primates switched seats.

No shame, you’ve been going though some stuff. {{{{shoe}}}}

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, I verged, and we had a great first Sunday brunch. The dessert table was exceptionally good! Seriously, my inner seven year old boy wanted to just eat desserts, but I told him he had to eat real food first. He has pouted ever since. Nappage was much needed this afternoon. The biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. We had some Netflix and chill time as well. OYKW has turned in for the night but I am not quite ready yet. Thus is the news from swampland.

The biiiig trash and compost/yard debris cans are out. Admire me very much.

Not the MMP, but a lot of the rest of SDMB seems more hostile. Pouncing, nitpicking, and insulting seem to have experienced quite an uptick. I’ll need to think about how much I want to participate cause that shit gets me down.

I’m sad to say that I’ve noticed this as well. I’ve been attacked and was recently called a Scientologist (WTF) in PM’s and I don’t even post that much on social media.

Things seem to be uglier IRL as well.

I am very proud of your bin moving skillz.

I’m currently thinking about my pet lemon tree. Should I bring it in for the night so its roots don’t get cold or leave it out so it can get the morning sun.

Next time just box up some real food and enjoy the desserts while they were fresh. Eat the healthy stuff later.

I made the mistake of asking Harry about what made the leaves turn colors. That man sure does love to speechify after a cup of real coffee and a few cookies.

Listening to everyone talk about them, yeah…that sounds like way too much work. While I was randomly looking at them online, I found a flat tank that had water and a pump in front of a hi-def video screen showing salt water critters doing their thing.

I look at hands and necklaces. I don’t really care, we tip for service not for boobs, but I do look.

I’ll claim that label, thank you very much!

And, much as I’d like to reply to everyone, I’m too tired and need to do some S&S (stitching and smoking).

I spent most my day at the capital, things are getting kinda ugly now. The trumpies have been very aggressive and the miners against black lungs don’t seem to have a lot of patience or diplomacy. The Battle of Blair Mountain is getting a lot of discussion.

I won a couple of pieces at the ANG needlepoint auction, but only because I set up the auto bidding thing yesterday. I had planned to check the auction during the day, but things kept happening.

This is now how I will think of you always and forever.

My apartment building is a merry-go-round of fun.

Yesterday, I logged my seventh serious car crash partially witnessed. BANG - SCREECH - BANG - BANG - SCHLORT. Someone got t-boned. Two cars about fifty feet apart, one on the street, one on the on-ramp. Airbags all around. I went down to looky-loo but there was already a crowd of people helping and the fire department was there quickly.

Then, just now, the fire alarm went off in my building. At first I wasn’t sure what it was; I wasn’t even sure it was in my building. I gathered up my essentials - wallet, weed, keys and dog - and headed outside. In the hallway I can smell the smoke. As I walk past the apartment two doors down out comes a soaking wet young lady in a towel. I can see inside a soaking wet young man sloshing around in a lake. They didn’t look very happy. I saw them out on the sidewalk later and asked if they were ok and they were still, surprisingly, not very happy. So I left them alone.

The entire building congregated on the sidewalk with all our pets and waited to see what would happen. The fire department showed up pretty quickly and got to work. They are, as I type this, throwing shit out the window. I’m not sure what kind of fire they had - I think it was mostly the sprinkler going off, because, seriously, they squeegied out a sea of water on top of what drain out of a pipe. They must have been ankle deep.

I’m pretty sure I’m safe now.

Yiu should have been here 20 years ago. Oh, wait…

Glad you and Bob are.

Me too.

I hope you are able to get some decent sleep tonight.

Me? Not a problem? I sleep the sleep of the innocent.

I’m exhausted today.

Yesterday was another sailing race for SenBoy so I went down Saturday to help get ready. It’s amazing how much stuff is needed.

The disadvantage of being in two clubs is that there is twice the number of races that I have to help put on.

It rained during the race! Really hard at times. The sailors have wetsuits so it’ annoying but those of us on the race committee boats get wet as well. A lot of the RC members have bib overalls which keep them drier and it looks like it’s time for me to get one as well.

It’s already Monday here and I’m busy teaching kids who don’t want to learn.

Don’t think I didn’t take 6-12 month breaks, but it’s been more peaceable until recently. And I’m not even talking about the interminable threads that quickly devolve to two to four people who seem to be having an angry wank-off at each other.

I’m glad you and Bob are ok, j-batts!

Ms Peach did great at work today, she really didn’t like the dust extraction system (I agree with her on that). But lots of meetings with other workers and getting to know the place was good. One little puddle on the floor in the wood shop, quickly cleaned up and hidden by some sweeping of saw dust. I actually got some things done, since there was no body else around. I think I have all the parts made for my “stone piano”.

Mr. brown is feeling janky due to his flu vax yesterday, and is upstairs sleeping and refusing breakfast. That leaves the downstairs blissfully quiet. I went out and bought some potting mix and some pretty yellow, blue and white johnny jump-ups, and when I’ve rested a bit here, I’m going to de-pot some old and weedy lobelia and replace it with the JJUs.

I don’t know what I ought to do for lunch. I’d make some chicken soup for Mr. brown, but he’s not a soup fan. I’ll just have to wait and see what he feels like eating, if anything. Hard to plan for something like that.

My next vax is tomorrow. I did flu vax last Friday, and my Covid is next. Hopefully all the mess with the CDC et al. didn’t dick things up at CVS. But this is California and I’m optimistic.

@teelabrown, the new thread started yesterday: Pet pics in the MMP

Drat! I knew that, and may have even posted in it. I need more caffeine than I’m getting in decaf tea.
