(Old) A Drinking Problem in the MMP

Just what a new puppy owner needs! I know they aren’t bad puppies, they are new little beings who have to learn and be taught how the world works and their place in it. I’m sure they are going to be great dogs when they grow up.

Probably. As has been mentioned many times before, cats is teh weird.

Cats are the worlds pickiest eaters because they came to live with us hoomans because we made tasty garbage. Some garbage is good but sometimes the bit of garbage right next to it will make them sick. So sniff, taste, think, eat and consider. Then move to the next bite.

I loves all of you guys and certainly do not want to upset people in this safe place.

Hurray! We did the ceremonial sharing of the first tomato last week. As usual, it was a cherry but I of course cut it in half, plated his half and sprinkled some sea salt on the side before presenting it to him.

After sharing the first tomato of the year, its everyone for themselves afterwards. We’ve both been known to leave our salt shaker out on the patio.

Am I the only one who realizes after I’ve posted replies that I still missed some? I read all the posts, but there are so many, I inevitably miss a few.

Today when Ms. Dog got bored she started tossing the ball and looking pointedly at me until I fetched it. How long before I’m the one on a leash?

Does this mean you’ll be working with vampires?

Another snik trigger warning, blurring will happen.

Back when I was sitting at PetCo with a bunch of homeless pets, I was not allowed to walk the dogs because it embarrassed everyone when dogs walked me.

My fuchsia is not as happy as it could be now that the temps are over 105. I’ve been putting ice cubes in the pot but I think it is a lost cause. Sigh.

I have also learned that the big reason we are having a bummer hummer summer is because the water and rest stops that the hummers are used to are no longer there. This makes me doubly sad about the trees and roses because I know the Annas nested there year round.

That would be much better than working with Twilight fans. Yes, I have read several of the books because I needed to know how bad they were. They were almost as bad as the 60 shades books. I did enjoy every Harry Potter book.

It is grasshopper season which is probably why the stoopid kingsnik came back tonight. We were able to get GG out of the catio before snik was hurt, but this time hubs got the big tongs and grabbed snik off the rafter and put it in a bucket undamaged. Then we took it out in the desert and let it go by a stock pond.

This is super annoying because I’m fairly sure there is a rattlesnik nest in the empty place behind us and we have already had to bribe snik guys to take them out of our yard twice. At least the rattlesniks only curled up in the snik bowl on the other side of the house instead of in the Cage o’ Cats.

Thank goodness I’ve been vaccinated for it! Just reading about all of you guys productivity has worn me out.

Thanks for reminding me that I need to schedule my covid booster and look into getting the RSV or whatever it is as well. I’m going to be spending a week or so with Mom, I need to be sure I don’t bring her an unwanted gift.

We are cheaper than you. We would be using the camp toilet and going to my BFF’s place for shower if needed. Sadly this has happened in the past.

I made my reservations for a Texas viewing last year.

I have learned that cold Tex-Mex tacos make a better breakfast than cold pizza. IMHO, of course.

Well, shoot. We had a very wet winter and spring, but I’ve noticed fewer birds in general, judging by their songs/caws/tweets. I wonder what’s going on.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday!

There should be a lack of glitter, but it will be in the mid 90’s. So I’ll be schvitzing, but not sparkling.

Twilight: One girl’s choice between necrophilia and bestiality.

Yet you post here.

Spot seems uninterested in them. But all my dogs have been sky raisin eaters(just gotta avoid the jalapeno sky raisins).

Of course I woke stoopit early for no apparent reason - well, a small reason - I had to pee around 4 of this AM, and I couldn’t fall back to sleep. I gave up shortly after 5. I have since tended to the critters and had some toast. But I’m less than thrilled with Daughter’s dog.

He did NOT want to sleep in his crate last night. Normally he sleeps with them, but we don’t co-sleep with critters. After it was apparent that he wouldn’t stop barking and whining, I let him out and he had run of the house for the night. It doesn’t look like he peed anywhere, so at least that’s in his favor.

Daughter sent me a few pics - the kids seem to love Great Wolf Lodge. Tobias is a big fan of the water slides, but not so crazy about the people walking around in wolf costumes. Roxy has no issues with the wolf, and I got a couple of videos of her dancing - it looks like they do these summer camp types of activities for the kids. They had invited us to go along, but I’m glad we declined - not only because of FCD’s health nonsense, but it just doesn’t look like the kind of place we’d enjoy in our dotage.

I think today’s plan is to install the name boards on the boat - weather permitting. I guess we’ll see how that pans out. I also want to run to Food Lion for some sodas while the sale is on. Goodness knows we can’t risk running out of Diet Coke!! Other than that, I guess we’ll wing it.

And so the second half of the year begins. Happy Saturday and Happy July!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 97 and N.O.S. for the day with a heat advisory in effect with heat index values between 106 and 111! We shall ensure that folks stay well-hydrated out by the cee-mint pond. Ribs are in the oven to finish cookin’ and then they will be transferred to the biiiiiig slow cooker to keep warm. Despite the heat, this should be a good day of reverie and merriment. Also, with any luck, we’ll be rid of everyone by around four o’ clock. Looks like we shall get the chance to be slothful with sporadic bouts of productivity, so I guess that will balance out. At least I hope so bein’ as I caused some kind of rip in the space/sloth continuum yestiddy!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must commence to get things ready for the guest invasion. The life of a social butterfly is brutal!

Happy Sattidy Y’all! Happy Canada Day to all the Canadian Mumpers!

Morning all. Up before 6am, so if I lay down to read anytime today nappage will probably occur. Nothing on the schedule, may go over to the gym for a bit, also need to sign up for coaching soccer this fall (and take my on-line classes), might wait until tomorrow for it as there is a 2-in-3 chance for rain then.

FCM, yeah, I think dogs have to be acclimated to sleeping in the crate early, glad you didn’t find any wet spots.

Pilot, enjoy the kid’s birthday.

Ummm…maybe a Motel 6 at that price, but not a bad idea if the plumbers are delayed again. Spent a couple night in a hotel during my recent plumbing issues, not due to the plumbers but the noise of the carpet drying/dehumidifiers.

shoe, nice story, little kids been pulling that racket since forever…

Cupcakes, kinda thought you and sis read maps, but being Captain Obvious…

OK, onward into Sattiday. Take care all.

That’s still making them sound more high-falutin’ quality reading material than they actually are.

I’d run screaming for the hills, due to all the … screaming.

Holy crap, I hadn’t thought of it like that!

As an introvert who loves ribs, this sounds like the perfect day.

By coincidence, I “start” my day by going into work at 4!

I feel … human again. Didn’t get anywhere close to 8 hours, and so will likely lay back down again (nappage!) but I got way more sleep than the night before.

That plus eating a decent amount last night and downing a multivitamin seems to have restored my circuitry … with the exception of some, ah, less than polite but entirely predictable results of throwing a bunch of food down my gullet after eating pretty much nothing for a few days.

On that note, time for First Breakfast (leftover taco, plus whatever of the avocado might be salvageable) and to send my rent payment so I don’t have to worry that I’ll forget.

There’s lotsa rain predicted by The Oracles for today & tomorrow, with a possibility of tunder-boomers (to compete noise-wise with the amateur fireworks, I suppose!) so out of the kindness of my heart I’ve let Monkey out for a bit now. Let’s hope Mr. Twerp is polite about returning promptly when recalled.

Good morning one and all.

It’s currently 57F degrees and sunny outside. The expected high is 80F, and blue skies will remain with us all day. Temps will climb over the next several days; the expected high on Independence Day is 91F, and Wednesday will be 94F. That’s hot for these here parts, and I don’t have AC, except in the primary bedroom, and I don’t want to spend all day there.

I have tons of bird visitors every day, all day. They hop around in the flower planters, buzz through the flowers, and splish-splash take a bath in the bird baths. I have noticed, though, that my Flickers stopped showing up. They are beautiful, and I miss them. However, the downy and hairy woodpeckers come to visit, as do the bushtits, house finches, goldfinches, sparrows, nuthatches, sparrows, and others. It gets a little noisy at times, lol!

I spent half the day doing chores and the other half in slothdom yesterday. Today I need to pick up the slack and complete more things. I must wash the Jeep to remove the road dust and bug guts and then fuel it up. I need to get down to Lowes and Home Depot and get that lawn mowed!

I must also fit laundry in the to-do list and water all the posies.

Alright, I’m going to finish my coffee, eat some yogurt and get going!

I have suet feeders and a regular birdseed feeder, and see the usual assortment of cardinals, hairy & downy woodpeckers (and very rarely a pileated) plus blue jays and their ilk.

But every spring, the damn starlings find it and then it’s game over, they strip everything clean in a couple of hours. Takes all the fun out of feeding the birdies.

I have completed the Eating of the Leftover Taco, plus polished off most of a thingy of seaweed snax, and am having a bit of strawberry ice cream for dessert before re-retiring for nappage. Because what even is “breakfast” anymore?

red that is so cool about your friends getting married during the eclipse; are they science nerds? Hubs, who is a science nerd, got all the requisite stuff for us to wear to save our eyes. We were on vacation with daughter and SIL at a cottage near Lake Michigan. We went out into the big backyard field and watched the eclipse from comfy lawn chairs with appropriate beverages that Hubs set up.
Do you like the teal? I like teal but am wondering if it is too much, too in your face, too overwhelming, for the buildings.

Lily kudos on accomplishing all those tasks!

Cupcakes If you like wildflowers and have time, you might consider a drive to Manchester, OH which is just shy of an hour and a half east of Cincy along the Ohio River. The Ohio River Bluffs Preserve, which is an Arc of Appalachia preserve and is a mile or so west of Manchester, has breathtaking beautiful spring wildflowers that will be in bloom at the time that you are there. This is one of a few spots to see blue-eyed Marys. The trails are easy to moderate difficulty. Address to get to parking area is 400 Gilkison Hollow Rd, Manchester, OH 45144; no charge to park or walk.

well, it was cute until the moment when the Mom went low class on him.

Texted a former work friend whose birthday was yesterday. Told her Happy Birthweekend! She said she’ll certainly give it a good effort. We’re going to try to get together for lunch on Wednesday.

Need to go Krogering; Hubs is out of milk and we need hot dog buns (I used hamburger buns last Saturday and a torilla yesterday). Also Hubs informed me he finished the last of the strawberries yesterday and there’s only one slice of ww bread left. So, I need to shevel and get going.

Hubs also strongly suggested I mow this morning since it’s already air quality of 83 and there’s supposed to be rain this afternoon and tomorrow. Additionally, I want to go to the Fitness Center. With the air quality so sucky this past week, I haven’t been able to get much walking/exercising in.

So, have a good day with whatever pursuits you are having.

This made me look up the different types of woodpecker. Can ya tell that I’m not much of a birdwatcher? :stuck_out_tongue:

Hugs to you and your aunt oopsie. I hope that grief is the prime reason for her confusion.

Mooooooom, I’m envious of your ability to grow 'maters (I’m on the shady side of the building, so things that bloom don’t do well on my patio). I did pick up some local ones at the little pop-up produce stand down the street. I bought some cottage cheese just for the occasion.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and the patio / yard cleaned up after the storms the past two nights.

Not only was the patio in disarray from the painting crew, but thee were a lot of sticks and leaf litter, so I got out before it gets too stinkin’ hot to clean things up. I know that the painters will need to move things out of the way again when they finish painting the trim and patio fence, but at least things will have been swept under and picked up. I’ll likely be repeating this chore next Saturday.

Once KP is done, I’ll go back to work on the wedding album. I would like to get it finished before I go up north in three weeks.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

My weather app shows rain right over my head but the ground is dry. Hmmmm.

Moving forward with home renos. Got a quote to replace the patio door. I haven’t opened the current door in years because I’m convinced it is rotten and therefore will either not close or worse, will fall out of the tracks. Signed the contract for new flooring on the first floor. I’m going with parquet laminate. I have always loved parquet and now is my chance to get what I love. The door has to be installed first and that will take 4-6 weeks because apparently the factory has to make my door.

Today I will ride my pony. Dinner is up in the air. I hate the 4th of July and kinda spiral into mini depression. Dinner might be a greezy cheezboiger.

Taking a break after tidying the shop - my chore was mostly sweeping and vacuuming, since I dare not put things away. It got hot out there so we’re in the a/c for a while. In a bit, we’ll go prep the name boards for installation. Whether they go on today is still up in the air. FCD is having a tough time recovering - he’s getting better but he refuses to take it easy and let his body heal. He’ll never learn.

Daughter sent pics of the kids doing “yoga” this morning, then a video of Roxy playing mini-golf. No future for her in the LPGA, alas.

Thank you for all of the condolences/well wishes!

Yesterday was low-key; today will be, too. I was out late at my cousin’s again, but thankfully I sleep well here. I got out of bed at 8:20am, brushed my teeth, and threw some clothes and a hat on for breakfast in the B&B’s dining room at 9:00 (when the other guests and I have been asked to eat). Since then I’ve just been hanging out in my room, binge-watching old episodes of Suits on Netflix (via my iPad Air) and putzing around online (via my shiny new iPad Pro*). Sometimes my gadget problem comes in handy. I won’t head back to my cousin’s for a few more hours.

*I’ve had a 2nd-generation iPad Pro for the past five years, and around Christmastime I started thinking that it might be time for a new one. But it was still working just fine, so I kept telling myself I didn’t need a new one. New toys are never about “need” for me, though, and last weekend I decided that it was finally time to pull the trigger…and, of course, I also decided that I wanted it in time for this trip. So, on Sunday I went to the nearby Apple Store and got myself a 6th-generation iPad Pro (and a Magic Keyboard). But part of the reason I decided to get the new one before I headed up here was so I could give the old one away: my cousin’s husband is now very happy with it!

I’m off to urgent care in a couple of hours. I have a weird spot of pain behind my ear/base of the skull that feels like an off-and-on headache and has been going on for 2-3 weeks. I can also hear my blood pulsing in that ear. My PCP is off for a week, so it’s urgent care for me, as I don’t want to delay.

And today is my first day of full Medicare/Medigap coverage. This thing cropped up while we were between insurances, for which I’ve been kicking myself. I put off going to the doc because of it, but now I can go. Yay, I have to meet a deductible first!

In the meantime, it’s hot as balls here. It’ll be over a hundred later today, so I guess we’ll have a nice cold crisp salad for dinner.

Good luck, and let us know what you learn.

We had breakfast out with my cousin-by-marriage, and when the check came, we learned that someone in the restaurant had put $20 toward it before leaving. Our best guess is one of my or one of my lovely wife’s former clients, or a student, or a random kindness–we appreciated it no matter what. When I tipped on the original full total, the waitress commented that almost nobody does that when a discount or other reduction has been applied to the check. Really? Both of us always tip on the full amount!

The plumber says he can’t snake the drain through the toilet, because the piping is suspended and it might break the pipe. There’s no clean-out port in the piping that is several decades old. He tried going through the vent, but apparently the geometry won’t allow it. So now he has to install a clean-out port in the new lawn. He’s digging now. Cleaning out the clog was going to cost $1,200. (I know. I can’t believe it’s so expensive. I’ll have to find a new plumbing company.) Now it’s costing $3,000.

Additional: We only have a faucet between the middle bedroom and the catio. When I took the crawlspace panel off of the side of the house, I noticed a long-forgotten faucet on the side of the house. The plumber replaced it and hooked it up for $300. So now we have water in back, and water to the front.

I thought I’d cash out my REI rewards, which are $664-something, to help pay for the plumbing. When they changed fromUS Bank to Capital One, Capital One does not offer a cash-out option. I have to spend it in-store. I wonder if I can use my rewards to buy stuff, then immediately return it for cash? In any case, I may have to start paying attention to commercials to see what credit cards offer cash-back rewards.

Hi all! I’ve read quickly but don’t really have time to comment at the moment. It’s been a busy, busy, busy couple of days! Last night, our power went off at around 9:30, right when I was in the middle of watching a Twitch stream, and didn’t come back on until around 1, waking me from sleep with bright lights and sounds. We’d had some pretty bad storms, so I’m grateful that we were able to get the power back on as quickly as we did.

In a little while, I’m going out to the porch to read. Along with my library’s summer reading program, I’m doing Read Every Day in July for the American Cancer Society. (I couldn’t get a direct link to my fundraiser post, but it’s pinned and public so it should be visible to anyone that wants to read it.) I won’t have a lot of time to read - I’ve still got to get ready for the soccer game. But even a little bit of time is better than no time at all.

I’m not sure what else I have going on over the rest of the weekend. Tomorrow will be some online gaming (I hope) and cleaning (I hope more). Storytime on Monday because the library isn’t closed. Calling my mom for her birthday that day too. Tuesday, my guy up north needs distractions so the three of us will be playing computer games together after he gets back. His house is finally on the market to sell and he has three showings planned for today and one on Tuesday. I’m hoping for good things for him.

I’d better be off for now so I can sit outside and read while the storm is raging. As long as the wind isn’t blowing the rain further back on the patio, I should be good. Have a great Saturday all, and I’m hoping I’ll be back tomorrow to share my first official professional soccer game - and in a box, no less! :star_struck:
