Real Fish, probably since ‘kitty’ and ‘kiddie’ sound alike (which you of course know, just being Captain Obvious here…). Oh, and Deep Meow for my contribution…
Most kindergartners wouldn’t get it…but I do, and And I started algebra about the 8th grade, I think.
wet one, hasn’t got this far south yet, but my railfan site has cameras all over and yeah, the Northern areas are getting smoked in good. Hope it abates soon.
Shopping trip is done, braunsweiger supply is good until August, and picked up a couple of other items. the Big August shopping trip will be Thursday or Friday, whenever I get my list ready. There is a heat warning out for Thursday and Friday, heat index may get to 117F and regular temps to over 100F, so mowage just may have to wait a couple more days.
Swimming and sauna in about an hour or two. Take care all.
TIL that Cheddar can see the images on my computer monitor. The other cats will notice the moving cursor, but that’s about it. Cheddar sees a cat video and she wants to play with the cat. In my monitor. In my touchscreen monitor. The one with the keyboard directly underneath.
I’ve only had to reboot the thing twice today. If 47 lbs. of ball bearings get sent to Rachael Ray air freight or SAC scrambles the BUFFs, you’ll know why.
Right after I posted, the internet and the power went out and stayed out for 2 hours. Both are back on now. Blessings upon all utilities workers, I say.
I’m sorry for you all. This is what Oregon summers have been like since 2019 or so, with predominantly California and Oregon smoke. In August/September 2019 in the valley the AQI was over 600. It was like walking in soup. I’ll see if I can dig up a postable photo from our front door.
Nellie dear lady, you really suck at this trade-off stuff don’t you?
The choice is actually between immediate pain now that will harm your recovery, or a teeny weeny indistinguishable amount of incremental muscle weakening that will be fully offset the very first time you do walk to the store once you can do so pain-free.
I know you mean well, but you can’t start healing until you’re not re-injuring stuff with every step. Remember: pain is Nature’s way of telling you: “Don’t do that.”
Self-abuse is very much out of style. Please … take it easy.
She’s not much for day drinkin’, or even drinkin’. Not a bluenose, but one is almost always plenty for her. Makes her a cheap date. Besides, more for me. Yaay!
Sloth is not in her portfolio.
She’s a lot more like our own FCM. She’s either busy doing something productive like cleaning / provisioning / cooking, or busy studying something edumacational, like multiple foreign languages, or is reading fiction chosen to fill squares on one of several reading challenge bingo cards. The reading is recreational & sedentary, but it still has to have some tangible result. Like maybe reading every book in a series, or prepping to watch the movie(s) made from the book series, or filling the bingo card. One of her goals is to read every NYTimes best seller back to the 1950s when the list was invented.
Me? I’ve always said fishin’ is for people who have a psychotic need to look busy while doin’ nuthin. I ain’t got no such need t’ look busy. Nuthin’ is plenty for me all by itself.
Behind the Green Cat-door The Catnip Delivery Always Rings Twice
I’ve painted as much of the deck as I can today. Tomorrow I’ll move the wood stack frame to where it belongs (or to where SWMBO tells me to), put the wood back in, and put the cover on. I may buy another gallon of paint tomorrow, or I may wait until Friday. Either way, I’ll plan on finishing the painting Friday. Mrs. L.A. says I use too much paint, and she could paint the deck with a single gallon. I made an effort to use as little paint as possible, but I still don’t have enough.
I know I’ve mentioned this in the past, but I really don’t like painting.
I figured somebody would make a joke, but I wasn’t expecting it to be you. I’ve never considered masturbation to be something abusive, so to me “self-abuse” encompasses a lot of different possibilities, but masturbation simply isn’t one of them.
I also tried to come up with a better term for you torturing your poor battered knee, but “self abuse” just sounded less contrived than all my other ideas.
Afternoon all. Shopping and swimming are done and nothing much planned for the rest of the day. 93F now and that’s about as cool as the days will get through the weekend.
Flyboy, I’m with you, not a painter, there are spots in the house that could be touched up but I take a “one of these days…” attitude towards it.
suzie, that is some bad skies…hope it doesn’t get that bad this year. Air Quality Index here in N. Ali-bama is 47, so the smoke hasn’t made it’s way this far south yet.
Quietly, hopefully Cheddar learns that playing with the screen only gets him yelled will may penetrate his brain soon.
That was one biiiiig pot o’soup. I took a container of it to Daughter and filled a zip bag for MIL. FCD and I had some for supper tonight - it was pretty good. And there’s enough left for another supper, and maybe a lunch.
Tobias never did nap - until we were driving to pick up Roxy. His mom is in for a crankypants night. But it’s quiet here, and that’s all that matters!
FCD is feeling a little better - I’m hoping the meds really kick in soon. At least his number hasn’t come up yet for jury duty, And I’m assuming there won’t be any trials scheduled Firday or Moanday, plus Tues is a holiday, so his number may never float to the top.
Tomorrow is Roxy’s last day at Montessori. The next few weeks will be interesting…
I have a big batch of beef jerky in the oven. I use Alton Brown’s recipe, which is pretty simple. I don’t air-dry it on paper filters like he does, because I have a “dehydrate” setting in the oven which works well.
It’s easy because you can go to a Mexican carniceria and buy carne asada beef, which is already sliced to just the right thinness. The marinade is about five ingredients, and after letting the meat sit in the marinade for three to four hours, you just pop it into the oven on racks set over trays and let it dehydrate for 8-10 hours.
We did a batch last week and it disappeared in just a few days because it was so good. I hope this batch is just as tasty,
Howdy Y’all! We procured provision and fried chikin N.O.L.s. Provisions got stowed and chikin got et. That was followed by quality cee-mint pond time/nappage/day drinkin’. That was followed by showers and now we are inside in the a/c. It’s waaaaaay hawt outside! Retired life is da bomb!
I’m full of surprises. Also, when you’ve spent a lot of years teaching teenagers with their, uh, frisky little minds, you’re quick to “go there,” mainly so you can try to forestall the inevitable snickering.
Good afternoon, all! Today’s been a bit of running but for all that, it’s a relatively good day. This morning, I took CtE and we walked. I’m actually pretty proud of both of us because this is something we both need to do. They’re helping me get motivated as much as I’m helping them. And I did my 2 miles again, so that is feeling really good.
Talked to Dad today. He’s doing relatively well. He had a slight problem with his dialysis machine, though he was able to bypass it with help from the nurse line. Still, it meant that he wasn’t done until 9 this morning and he slept badly. Luckily, he doesn’t have to do anything and can rest.
This afternoon, I peed for science! Another urology study, this one with an MRI. I spent a LOT of time in that MRI and I was grateful for 2 things - that I’m not claustrophobic and I could keep my eyes closed. I actually used the time to meditate a bit, which made me feel great when I was done. I just had to make sure meditation didn’t turn to sleep!
Hubby got a message from his sister asking if he could extend his visit. His dad is having a procedure done and his sister will be on a vacation. Luckily the cost of changing the flight was negligible. Of course, after that, the kids managed to do a number on their toilet and he had to rewash all the towels that he’d just finished washing. He was not having a good day.
We were originally going to make tonight a date night, but he’s not sure if he feels up to that - especially since I have to take CtE to therapy tonight and won’t be home until 8. However, we’ve got tickets to go to the soccer game on Saturday night with his coworkers so that can be date night instead. Or maybe tonight will end up with some kind of fun after all.
I’ve got to be off. It’s time to take CtE to therapy and give me a good hour to read.
