I’ve always hated that … relatives that make a big deal visiting and the like then just sits there taking maybe 20 minutes total out of a 4-hour visit …
Jolene has to go to the vet for a recheck on her UTI and I’m officially changing her name then. The George of the Jungle and Bella thing was only amusing to me, nobody else got it anyhow. Everyone gets Jolene.
Heck, once cousin and hubby had settled down in the living room, Jolene totally ignored Linda to zero in on Ronald. I could tell she wanted to claim another man!!!
Welcome back! I also love the little free libraries. I don’t often take a book, but I always look to see what they have. There was one at the Harley dealership in AZ that always had at least one copy of “The art of Zen and Motorcycle Repair”.
I haven’t gotten my library card here…it’s complicated and I am lazy, so I’ve been downloading books AZ. I feel like I shouldn’t be borrowing any of their popular stuff because I’m no longer paying taxes for them, so I’m re-reading some of my old favorites.
It can be shocking to read Isaac Asimov and contemporaries with my current eyes, that casual racism and sexism was so normal back then that I didn’t know that it was objectionable.
When things become normalized, it is hard for people to change. Children believe stronger than adults.
Thank you! I embraced digital cameras right away. I love being able to take a hundred pics and delete 99 of them.
I love your cards, and admire your creativity btw.
That is excellent news. Hurray for kind people who trap and pay to have wildlings fixed. It make their lives so much better.
I am so happy this worked out so well.
I’m good with feeding suet only. So far. I might change my mind later once I figure out what the local birds eat. And the flying squirrels. I seriously want to sit on our porch in the evenings and watch them swooping around.
The hummers have been enjoying their feeder and Jolene likes sitting at the french doors to watch them. For about 30 seconds because she is a teenager and has the attention span of a goldfish.
I’m grumbly with you at the vet. I hope they get things figured out soonist.
Oh yeah. There is no doubt as to who is large and in charge in this home.
LOL!!! you are so right, we were pretty committed to getting a different cat and even went through the pre-adoption approval paperwork. While we were visiting the cat we had picked, she purred at me and then purred at Hubs. Whatca gonna do?
No. It is still way to hot to iron. You should probably throw your iron away and pay someone else to do it forevermore.
I hope things work out better this time around. Please use protection.
you are a very good friend!!!
Would meltdowns happen if you just moved things into your unused art room space? I hope he gets things sorted soon, I hate living in a cluttered, unorganized room and I’m constantly fussing at it until I get it right.
How in the name of everything holy ELSE does one make tamales?
Once a floozy, always a floozy.
Whaddya mean, that Santa Claus isn’t real … wait, what about the Tooth Fairy?
The Easter Bunny?
SAY IT AIN’T SOOOOOOO … { sobs holding ankles of nearest adult }
It’s still hot out, and I’m hungry dammit.
I’d had grand plans for getting pot roast stuff in a coupla days and firing up the ol’ slow cooker one morning early afternoon later this week, so I’d come home to a hot meal after work, but now I’m thinkin’ …
… but then again, once I brave the Walliest of Worlds, and get everything prepped, and get it started … damn thing will be ready tomorrow mid morning.
Which could work.
But still. I’m hungry NOW DAMMIT.
{ falls over & dies of Teh Cyoote }
ETA: I think that they think they fit just fine in the current allotted space.
Speaking of … the paper trays we use at work are colloquially called “boats.”
They come in two sizes: small, and large.
Can’t tell you how many times I underestimated something, muttered, “We’re gonna need a bigger boat,” laughed quietly to myself, and had these damn young’uns look at me like I’M THE CRAZY ONE!
We’ve been to the “good” Mexican place twice because we thought that me getting a chili relleno sans cheese was just a mistake. The tamale came wrapped in some sort of cooking paper.
We have no plans to go back, even their margaritas sucked.
Linda and Ronald did like the tortilla chips I fried up for them in my new cast iron pan but just salted them instead of using the sauces. That’s OK, hubs loves my queso so nothing went to waste.
ever see those hormel tamales? well here’s how to make the home version
The same place used to have a hand version that worked like a manual cigarette roller. The brag was that you could make hundreds in a couple of hours if you didn’t mind them looking like taquitos cut in half.
Another cool morning at the park. Only five dogs were there today, so it was quiet. Echo started a little crap with Leah, but I think that’s because I handed out the treats today. Even though I wasn’t handing out treats at the time, Echo still got pissy about Leah coming near me. The next time I bring treats, I’ll have somebody else hand them out. I don’t like the idea of treats when we are sitting in the pavilion but the other people bring them and told me it’s my turn. Since they share with my dogs, I guess it’s only fair.
I’m surprised B/H mom is going along with it, she used to bitch at me for bringing treats when I used them to bribe Echo and Lily to leave.
Then again, she is always bitching about something. She wasn’t there this morning so it was quiet. Barky isn’t so barky any more, but Humpy is making up for it.
Yesterday, there were ten dogs at the park. Two of them got into a little squabble and I yelled at Echo without looking first. Poor Echo, she was innocent that time. She was pretty good the whole time. Except when except one new and nervous dog would start to run, then flip out when he saw seven other dogs chasing him. He was fast and should have kept running, but instead he’d turn around and start growling and lunging at whoever was closest. His owner left, and I think given a little more time, the dogs could have worked it out.
I miss the old morning group. The dogs knew each other well and you could have pile-ons and rumbles without worrying about a fight breaking out.
VanGo, my feed is going to the end too. I have to scroll back up to the last post I read.
As to the neuropathy in the feet, I have it, I suspect from the nerve damage in my back.
What helps is
1 - getting enough sleep, and elevating my feet
2 - foot exercises foot exercises
Taters, when my dogs get ear infections, the vet puts some kind of cream in their ears that lasts two weeks. It costs a little more, but better than dealing with cranky dogs. It may be worth asking about it.
If you are worried about Maisie’s behavior, you could look up Litter Mate Syndrome. There is a group on FB, Litter Mates Without Syndrome that has lots of good info.
I did/do everything wrong though, and I don’t see any signs of LMS in the GR.
She may just be going through a phase too.
Red, I am always afraid of cutting myself when trimming my toenails. It hurts just to think about it. Mine need trimming now and it’s hard to get started. I’d think about getting regular pedicures, but my feet are ticklish and I don’t know if I could handle it.
I’m tired. We had to turn the AC back on last night. I didn’t sleep well though.
"What are you doing tomorrow? " As a RDOS, if you don’t have a particular appointment, do you plan your next day the night before?
MIL often asks me this. It’s difficult not to be a bit snarky. I have no reason to think that far ahead on a regular basis. So apart from one load of laundry, I have no plans. I’ll figure something out in the morning. Or not. Oh, wait - I need to empty the dishwasher.
It’s tequila, lime juice, Cointreau (orange liqueur) and salt.
Plus, I guess, ice. Crushed/slushy, or on the rocks.
Am I missing anything?
How hard is that to eff up?
I’m guessing bottled - or worse - lime juice, and skipping the Coin-trow.
To be fair, I wasn’t expecting it at all. The bat sightings are usually a coupla seconds, maybe a minute tops, and I hafta be outside and looking up at juuuust the right moment.
But still. It always feels special.
My new song:
"Thirty-two trash bags to take outside
Forty-five trash bags of traaaash
Take three out
Scoop the litter
Forty-nine more bags of trash to take out!
ETA: the math works out, somehow. Feels that way, at least.
Good evening all. Gym time has been used to good effect and mowage was completed before darkness, so I consider the day a success. Even with the steak dinner at Longhorn I have calorie room for some snacking tonight, so of course I will do so. Interesting to see what the scale at the gym will tell me tomorrow.
Need to check with my soccer parents, next weekend is the Labor Day holiday and I have to find out if anyone is heading out of town so I’ll know if we’ll have enough boys to play or not. Most of the leagues take the weekend off, but not our folks.
FCM, sometimes you need a dull afternoon; things will be hectic soon enough.
Swampy, I will note that Chruch people eat very well…
flyboy, the first time I ever had to turn my water off, I had to get down on my hands and knees with a pair of pliers and a flashlight (did I mention it was night-time and raining?). First thing the next day I got a long-handled water meter key which still resides in my garage.
No, I like it there…
red, Ouch!! Hope things are less owwie this week.
JtC, I think the name change is appropriate and well-deserved. Love the pictures.
Sari, I had missed the stories of the dog park. Hope this new pack gels soon and gets along ok.
Alrighty, after 8pm here so need to finish whatever it is I am doing and get ready for bedtime. Still need to put my weekly plan sheet together, so will do that now. Take care all and catch you on the next MMP.
Okay, heres my story.
For 8 years I had been friends with maganut, my friend who believes everything Alex Jones says.
We ate together at church dinners alla time.
I saw him as a friend only, likely because he wasn’t a loser ( drugs, etc.).
Well 4 years ago, I looked at him and thought, wow, he’s actually attractive.
So we didn’t “date”, that would imply taking me out or spending money on me.
I went over, a 10 minute walk, and we watched dvd’s and almost had sex. Don’t ask.
Fast forward to last year.
By this time he had moved about 10 miles away.
Last Sept. he asked me to spend the weekend with him.
Then the next day he called and said Its off, because I was vaxxed and when
Vaxxed people touched him he got sick.
Hes empirically wrong, of course.
I saw him on the bus at times.
I went to his church after this and he kept saying, Come sit with me.
And once asked me to go eat with him, he’d pay half.
I decided to go to his church today.
He sat by me.
Ate with me afterward at the lunch.
Later he went to hug me and I said, Oh! You’re going to get contaminated.
Then we talked and he said he hadn’t wanted to start something only
To end it.
I told him last year he broke my heart, wrecked me.
He hugged me bye 3 times, saying I like you.
So I dunno.
We shall see.
Hugs, opinions, welcome.
We always used Triple Sec or Grand Marnier but I suspect you are right about the ones served in WV. Tequila and a bottle of mix.
I also love bats and am happy that you got to see one
Oh yes, she is shameless when it comes to men. I thought she was more flirty to Hubs because I’m the one who gives her meds, but nope. She ignores women if there is a man around. Our poor plumber had to call us for help because she walked up his back while he was under the sink and then sat on his head. When I told him that he could just move her, he cuddled her and said he couldn’t do that, she was just to purry and cute.
The saddest part about it was that they really wanted to like my cooking. But I do get it. When I lived in Asia, I ate a lot of local food and got used to their spices and some of the food was just HOT. Once I asked Mom to send me some canned jalapenos (which are always very mild) and made chili rellenos to share with friends. Everyone hated the heat and we later figured out that it was the different fruit that they reacted to. T’was strange.
It is to laugh. This year that is, next year I will a large container garden to supply our kitchen. I really had no idea that folks out this way don’t like spices. I should have figured after the family potluck, it was all comfort food.
At least we get lobster rolls at a fast food place and crab cakes in the Food Lion deli.
Cleaned, napped, took out the trash and recycling. Having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, meatloaf, home made mac n’ cheese, and a salad. How’s that for a “meat and three”?
Some of us are not big talkers.(Verses say, roomie, who runs an outer monologue.)
Spot begs to differ.
AWWWWWWWW!
Bottled mix and José Cuevo.
{{{{Coppertone}}}}. But you really might wanna stay away from people who think Pizzagate is real.
