Happy birthday, Seanette! :birthday: :tada:

I’m naturally an organized and generally neat/tidy person, but I don’t know that I’d say I’m meticulous about anything. Well, maybe my inboxes? I use all three of them – 1 personal and 2 work – as “to do” lists, so they each often contain just a handful of messages. If I get really busy at work for several days, or if I go on vacation and don’t access Gmail regularly, I’ll eventually get to a point where I have to stop whatever I’m doing and clear out my inbox(es). Having too many messages will distract/bother me. (And my messages are always read. )

I’m at the office today, in the corporate proposal center – with all of one other person (at the moment) – and it’s been a quiet morning both literally and figuratively. The 3-hour, in-person meeting that I’m here for doesn’t start until 12:30, and I’m hoping the next ~90 minutes remain uneventful. :crossed_fingers: Whenever I finish this post, I’ll head to the little coffee/convenience shop on the ground floor and grab some lunch. The other person in the space here so far isn’t part of the proposal I’m supporting: I better not still be alone at 12:30!

Yesterday I did wind up skipping the jam session, but late afternoon I got the “oomph” to meet up with my friends for the early jazz show at a nearby bar/restaurant. None of us had been there before, and happily the place was great! Small-ish, with just enough of a dive bar feel to be comfortable but not skeevy. Everything about the place was slightly worn but it was clean (even the bathroom), the food was decent, and the stage was really nice: elevated, spacious, and front-and-center. They have live music there every night, and it was nice to see a place take that seriously. The sound was good, and the jazz trumpeter and his band were terrific. And while the room was far from packed, there was more of an audience than I would have expected for live jazz on a Sunday at 4pm. It was a 15-minute drive from home, and only 5 minutes for my friends: we all agreed that we’d definitely be willing to go back sometime. It felt like the kind of place where I would have been a regular in my 30s…ahhh, those were the days.

The rest of this week won’t be boring: tomorrow I have a midday tattoo removal session and an evening personal training appointment, Thursday afternoon I have a virtual voice lesson and that evening I have a ticket to a jazz show in DC, and Wed-Fri one of my direct reports will be on vacation so all of his tasks will fall to me. I’m hoping that a lot of folks will start the Labor Day weekend/holiday early. :crossed_fingers:

I hope you like it!

And I would totally go on a Louise Penny tour of Quebec!!

Then so am I.

Thanks…but those are made by the lovely and talented missred.
