(Old) A new topic for Slackards in the MMP

Well, you can skip the soap-leaves if you prefer.

Fender Stratocaster electric guitar (USA made in 2001) and a practice amplifier made by Roland.

Yep, I do that too. The goal in that situation is to eliminate as much ambiguity or opportunity for misunderstanding as possible.

They managed to cram nothing into 50% less time.

Nah, it’s a Treat.

Raleigh did wolves back in 2006.

There’s one in the lobby of the Lenovo Center.

They’re on straight. But looking good.

We feel the same about you.

You need Dr. Rick

[Old joke]A woman goes before a judge accused of beating her husband to death with his guitar collection.
Judge, to bailiff: “First offender?”
Wife: “No, first a Gibson, then a Fender.”

Nashville has guitar statues scattered around.

I can’t offer advice on growing them, but one of my favorite recipes using them are black bean sweet potato enchiladas . The recipe for homemade salsa verde is linked in the recipe (if you wanted to take a shortcut, you can use store bought, but that defeats the purpose of this inquiry). They are delish and vegetarian to boot!

I just dropped off some lunch for Mrs Magill. She’s at Band Camp, being The Band Mom. She appreciated it - apparently, she’s been snacking her way through the day, which is not a good eating habit. She also gave me her big travel mug to take home.

I also made an appointment next week to get my whole house water filter replaced. It’s part of the water softening system. She prefaced telling me the replacement price with, “That filter’s been tariffed, so it’s gonna be expensive…” She was not wrong.

Yes - I think everyone should do at least six months in retail and call centers before they’re allowed out into the world.

I thought I was turning into my dad. It seems I was wrong.

I’ll second that. Might cut down on the Karen/Chad/Meyghqueyghlah types who insist on treating customer service workers as subhuman vermin.

You can, I can’t, cos we don’t really sell it here! The ‘salsa verde’ that’s typical here is a Mediterranean thingy based on herbs, which contains 0 tomatillos.

Looks good though! I normally have sweet potatoes and black beans around, though the chilli selection here is pretty dire.

I hope I haven’t jinxed them, and they actually develop fully… I normally superstitiously don’t look for recipes until the crop is ready.

Similarly, anyone who wants to be on a school board should spend a month managing a classroom. Pfffft - like most folks could last even a day.

I’ve managed not to nap, so it’ll be early bedtime with Mel tonight. And I think supper will be forage mode.

*Howdy Y’all! We had quality cee-mint pond time for about three hours then came back in da cave, showered and achieved nappage. OYKW told me first thing this mornin’ he had a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for pizza. I told him as long as he ordered, paid for and picked it up that would be fine by me. Thus what was planned for tonight’s sup will be tomorrow’s sup. Glad I hadn’t started the chikin in the slow cooker yet. So pizza and sallit were et for sup. Now I shall go see what up on teh intartoobz.

Cookie glad the guitar and amp are findin’ a good home with your grandson. We are lucky to have a housekeeper who cleans under and behind furniture. Takes a good part of a day, but we don’t have to, so win-win.

Taters I say dinner out should be your reward for havin’ a late afternoon appointment. I don’t like those either.

Mollie you are, indeed, rockin’ it today! Glad you have your diagnosis. Hope the next step is a smooth one as in done without too much hassle.

red hope maintenance got there early enough not to interfere too much with your day.

BBBoo I agree. We, and you, are just a big ol’ bundle of joy!

MOOOOOOM bless your heart can mean many things. There’s regular bless your heart, which is nice. Then there are variations such as Bless your heart, bless Your heart, bless your Heart, Well, bless your heart, Bless Your Heart, and BLESS YOUR HEART! One must listen closely to the undertone.

Mollie, Nettie, and Rocker then there’s my method for dealin’ with a voicemail. PANIC! RUN AROUND! SCREAM! IT’S A VOICEMAIL, WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO! Then I either call back or erase it. When I leave one I just say my name, that I’m returnin’ the call, and my number.

Pearl rain and a high of 84 would be wonderful about now.

Cat_Glove we’re always here for a good vent. Glad you got it all out.

Nuts just think, it will be over soon. If it’s any consolation, I remember writin’ my thesis, but have never had flashbacks to the horrors of it all.

It’s been over a month since I contacted the Alaska Historical people to donate a document that my mother had (I’ve described it earlier) from 1941. All this time went by and I heard nothing and received nothing in the mail.

So I called today and they had no record that I had ever called, and this was the same woman I talked to the first time! So I indicated that if this document is of no interest to them, I will look elsewhere for a home for it and also mentioned that I’m going to be 80 next year and want this settled. I got a lot of apologetic noise from her and she tried the old Alaska trick of saying “Well, it takes a long time for mail to get anywhere from Alaska”. Yeah, I was born and raised there and didn’t just fall off the turnip truck. Anyway, she’s supposed to get it in the mail in short order. Sheesh.

They didn’t make it today. :frowning:

Laundry is laundered and put away, plus, I finished up some cards from a new to me die set. I’ll mess around a bit more in the studio between internettin’ this evening.

When I got my 7PM reminder to take my meds (thanks, Alexa) I also popped a time-release melatonin. By 8, my eyes wanted to close. So I’ve tended to Ziva and I’m under the covers.

Ok, Mel, work your magic!

Evening all. Sweatage is complete and many calories slain, but new ones have been added via Cheeburger and pretzels, a ordained by the Circle of Life. No soccer tonight, so a fair amount of slothage will be the order of the evening. Still about 82F outside, so no planning on being outside anymore. Need to do a couple loads of laundry tomorrow morning, just about out of undergarments and the shirts are piling up too.

And lots of catching up to do. Best be about it.

Knots, I was born around Akron when it was still the “Rubber Capital of the World” and still remember the scent, but no statues that I can recall there or here.

Taters, hope the eye check went well.

Mollie, you have a way with the dawn and pictures. Best wishes to the Mrs., sounds like she’s putting in good time with the camp. And glad you have it official now, so best wishes for the future.

**BBBoo, Taters **, I couldn’t say it as well as you two did, but you people here are important to me.

FCM, glad the EEG went fine, while I’ve had my heart monitored with various things stuck to my chest, never had the old brain wired up. And as for the tech and her knowledge of the sun…yeah, it’ll run out in another 7-8 Billion years…and vacuumed my car when I got it washed last week, it looks much better inside now. Sweet dreams.

Lucky, that is the major difference I find between us and the young generation; if it’s not on the phone it isn’t that important, and while we use cells as a tool, we don’t forget about the rest of the story. Interesting times in the near future… Glad the tomato harvest was good. And didn’t know you could freeze tomatoes, might have to give that a try.

rocky, I agree, I say the phone number slowly too, and when I’m ordering something or need to provide my address or e-mail, it enunciate it carefully and slowly.

Nettie, I’m the same way, one number at a time.

Cat Glove, sounds like a manager without a clue. That and daughter are definitley worth a Harumppff. Or even two: Harumph!!

Nut, sounds like a busy but not altogether unpleasant day.

Cookie, looks like you got caught in the 'file not found (or misplaced) section, hopefully they will be more responsible now.

And that’s all for now. 8pm so need to do the evening internettin’ and prepare for Slumberland. Take care all.

It is quiet and does a decent job. We always have carpet shreds on our floor because of the kitty trees and it was able to handle them just fine. We had a roomba about 15 years ago and the bits of carpet defeated it. This one does a decent job on corners but of course doesn’t go behind the doors.

It is controlled by an app on our phones. This means we can be out drinkin’ Margaritas across the state and check to see if anyone has used the robot litter box. If George has, we can send the vacuum in to clean up the spilled litter.

I’d rather have jetpacks, but I guess this will do.

Same design, this one is a Roborock. It came highly recommended by a mumper and I suggested getting one about six months ago. Hubs didn’t want to spend the money because we do have a cleaning service come in a couple of times a month, but now that he’s having to sweep up after the fuzzbutts, he changed his mind

I think you mentioned me being happier in WV than AZ…and you are right. Back when we moved to AZ in the late 1990’s we loved it. Neighbors were few and far between and folks were considerate to each other. We weren’t the only CA refugees though, and many of the others wanted to change things.

It was still OK until trump gave folks permission to openly be racist assholes. The more I saw and heard and experienced, the more I wanted out.

WV is still red, but folks here are quiet about it. There aren’t any “fuck your feelings” flags and there are more religious than trump tshirts seen in public. Its just quieter here.

Plus, we have Harry - the best neighbor ever.

It makes me laugh as well. We’ve always had bird feeders out but I’ve always known that it was because I wanted them. Now he’s starting to pay attention to them and is learning that birds are fun and interesting, plus we have new birds to watch now.

Every so often, we would get a Stellar Jay in our yard, now there are half a dozen Blue Jays hanging around. We are on the other side of the hummingbird migrations now, we used to get them flying north, now they are here and will be flying south in a month or so.

Dang about the late appointment, I’d also rather get it over with early. I do hope the issue has resolved itself, but if you have to have a minor lazer treatment (Yag lazer back when I was working for the eye surgeon), I’ve been told that it is painless and kinda fun because of the colors.

Love you right back!

We share a gene! I did notice that cilantro stopped being so soapy tasting about ten years ago, I’m not sure if that’s due to age or just the farmland being worn out. Lots of produce isn’t as good as it was, the dirt is just tired and grows tired plants.

So besides the new robot excitment, nothing much happened here. I had PT and got complimented on my ability to relax my muscles on command. Dude, I’m a lazy pothead, I have to concentrate to get my muscles to flex and resist!

I’m still not cleared to get back in the water which is disappointing. I haven’t been moving much and my body feels it.

Well, my shoulder says its time to stop typing, so I’ll catch up later. Maybe, its getting pretty dark out there…

It was a 10-hour work day and I didn’t get home until a litlte after 7pm, so I nearly skipped the planned Lego session…but I only had two bags left and I knew they wouldn’t take long, so I finished the Yellow Delivery Truck set:

It’s fun, and includes two toolboxes behind the “Lego” panels full of tiny silver tools! A bigger version of this photo (as well as bigger versions of all of the Lego pictures I’ve posted) can be found in my online album of completed sets.

Tomorrow after work I’ll start building the 1966 Ford GT40 MKII race car set that I bought on Sunday with my nephew. And I got a notification today that the Jaguar E-Type set has shipped; hopefully, that will arrive on Saturday.

Usually I work from home on Fridays, but I’ll be going to the office tomorrow. The customer is hosting a “thank you” lunch for people who were involved with one of our projects hitting a major milestone earlier this year, and then I’m facilitating a briefing at 2pm (related to a different project; the one I’ve been the acting PM for since one of my direct reports quit without notice at the end of May). A handful of my co-workers are also involved with both projects: the briefing is virtual, but those of us participating in it who are already there for the lunch will gather in a conference room. This presentation has been the bane of my existence all month, so I will be quite happy when it’s over. I’m hoping that (a) it won’t take the full two hours that are planned, and (b) I can start my weekend as soon as it ends. :crossed_fingers:

I’ll also be going to the office on Monday – the other day that I usually work from home – but this time for a happy reason: my new hire’s first day! She’s the backfill for the aforementioned quitter, and I’m excited about getting her started. This program has a pretty big learning curve, but the “acting PM” weight should be off my shoulders in a few months.

You and Mollie are both high-sterical.

Hooray for next steps! :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers:

I would have loved that! Wolves are my spirit animal[1]: I have wolf posters and statues and Swarovski figurines and Lego sets, and the tattoo I’m having removed is of a howling wolf (I’m having it removed due to the size/style, not the subject matter; I was quite happy with it for 20+ years). One of my “I won the lottery” daydreams is opening a jazz club, and possible names/themes include Le Loup. Not original, I know, but meaningful to me. :wolf:

  1. that’s about as “woo” as I get ↩︎

What I forgot this morning:
I started at 0430. At 0520 I was told I need to load, since the loader called in but “It was an easy 2 car set”. [Narrator]It was not[/Narrator]. It was 3 cars, and the 3rd car was almost as much as the other 2 combined. Plus the sup mislabeled it, didn’t put in the load chart up, and I had to spend 20min searching for a sup(one of the dispatch/on road sups) to get it for me. I really need to ask my shop steward if “Couldn’t pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were written on the bottom of the heel” is grievable. and once again the 300 Slide was slammed, since there were anybody doing data entry in Smalls. At least the rewarps were from Hazmat today. I did my Senior Day shopping, picked up a few things for next week’s vacation. Now I’m up from naptime, having an Aviation, smoked Paprika Chicken, Swiss/Gruyere cheese potatoes, and lemon pepper broccoli.

Dr. Rick doesn’t care. Dr. Rick is here to help. As are we.

This.

They should at least be able to identify a child in a lineup.

OK

I’d show up, drink martinis, and listen to the band,

This is another one of those steps where it becomes real. Yanno, like saying it out loud, or telling someone, or freaking presenting 40% of the time at home.

I’ll admit that I’m scared. Part of me wishes it could all go away, but the other, Puckish, part ot me really, really wants to go to my 40th high school reunion and say, “Surprise!!!” Because that would be fucking hilarious.

No, no. I’m serious. We cannot be friends anymore. 2022 is the year baseball died. If you play, you bat. The rule is simple.

Oh. I almost forgot. Today is five years of Mrs Magill being leukemia free.

Also, my mother’s brother may have died in January. Tom was always a bit of a recluse, but his habit of never letting anyone near him did him no good. His brother, Maus, my namesake, had been sent an obituary notice from their hometown newspaper that a Thomas H. Maidename had died in January. I am entirely certain that his brother, my sister, and I would have attended any memorial service he would have wanted. My father, too.

Seriously, please keep in touch with your family. Even if you don’t think they want anything to do with you, they do. They do.

Tom was tedious, but he was also my mother’s brother.
