Hoo, boy, what a day. Today started at 52Ferrets and got up to around 79F for today’s high. Tomorrow will make up for it with a forecast high of around 91F. Icky.
Thanks to all for the kind Doperversary wishes.
I’m still a noob, compared to many here!
FCM, I’m sorry for your BIL’s ills. I hope everything goes well for him. And I hope there is nothing of note on your EEG.
Pearl, I’m glad your unemployment insurance got sorted! Good luck with the new job search.
JtC, I’m so glad you continue to improve, even if at a pace not to your liking. Exciting and fun news about your new robot sweeper! And how funny how Hubs was inspired to get one, as well as his new interest in birds. Great stories!
Metal Mouse, Ollie is strangely preoccupied with something behind the workshop/wood shed. I can’t see him when he goes back there unless I actually follow him out. Directly to the south of the house and shop is a very large hill with an abrupt rise no more than 30 feet from the structures. The hill is thickly planted with mature Doug fir, so it’s a dark and tangled forest all the way up to the peak of the hill and beyond. Goodness knows what lives in it. But it’s a good bet that anything feral would make a home in such a spot. When Ollie went back there yesterday afternoon, he was barking at something. I wondered if it might be kitty.
Hope you get out of watering the yard.
This is hopeful news, thank you! Ollie chewed his paws to baldness and his undercarriage looks pretty sad, too. But the itchy event is over now, so hopefully he’ll get some fur back soon.
When will you find out if the heavy duty antibiotics are helping your toe infection or not? I’ve got everything crossed for you, Red!
Who wouldn’t be, swampy?
I’m glad you had a nice birthday celebration! And glad you got out of cooking tonight for an easy pizza supper.
Oopsie, I’d come to your club, too. What fun that would be!
doggio, some of your typos are more fun than a lot of people’s intentional funnies.
I clean up lots of thread titles because, as you obviously noticed, typos/poor grammar/misspellings drive me a bit nuts. One of my many failings…
Love the bourbon box for Spot, though I know it’s not Spot in the box, and sorry you had such a trying day today.
Shoe, I plan to go have a look at the moon tonight just 'coz you mentioned how pretty it was last night. Thank you! Loved the skunk story, too. I’ve a few of my own, but for another time.
BooFae, I hope the Travel Gods were kind as you hoped they would be!
taters, I hope you got your pedicure today, and may the outcome of the eye doc appointment be No Big Deal.
Another lovely sunrise photo, Mollie, and you mooned us, too! Thank you! Good news on your GD diagnosis so you can move forward now. Nice pic.
So happy for Mrs. Magill, too!
Backatcha, lady.
Kids these days, eh, lucky? I’m jealous of your tomatoes! We’ve had such a cool summer, everything is really late. I usually put up about 35 quarts of tomatoes a year, and it looks like I won’t be able to start until late September this year.
Me, too. Also the “zero” instead of “oh” thing, same as FCM and nettie. Luddites of the world, unite!
I encountered someone today who I think was on her first day of her six months. More on this later.
Agreed. Only…
Today started out well enough. I had a lunch date with a good friend in town and had a great time catching up with her.
Getting into town is enough of a sojourn that I try to do as many errands as possible when I’m there. One of my errands was to fix something I bolloxed up sometime in the past 9 months: When I opened a new Verizon account for my cell phone, I wrote down my password and PIN on a piece of paper. Which I promptly mislaid, and couldn’t find to save my life, despite months of looking. So a stop at the Verizon store was on my list today.
I lucked into a really kind, patient counter person who provided tremendous help. But there was an assumption that the email address they should use to send a link to fix a password problem is linked to the phone. In my case, it isn’t.
The kind, patient counter person contacted Mother Ship Verizon Customer Service, and we finally got through to a Real Person. It took awhile for us to successfully communicate to the Real Person that she needed to change the email address where she was sending the link.
And… ok… the email address I gave is crazy-long. It’s a gmail account preceded by 20 characters, so it’s abcdefghijklmnopqrst@gmail.com. Only easier, because the first 7 characters are my name. Real Person could not get it. It didn’t matter how carefully or slowly I or the kind, patient counter person repeated the email address, she couldn’t get it right. The back-and-forth went on for 30 minutes and started to feel like we were in the middle of a nightmarish Who’s On First? routine. She finally got it, and I asked – nicely, of course! – if she would please send us an email to my phone so I’d know the address was correct. She did, and it was. I was advised it would take up to 48 hours to receive the updated link so I could fix my password woes. Ok.
More fun awaited at home. I realized that all the email on the server for the email address I provided was now duplicated on my phone. I don’t want it on my phone, just on my computer. So I began deleting the emails off the phone. And without realizing it, off my computer, too! I deleted about 1,000 emails before I discovered the phone was syncing in real time and deleting those same emails off my computer. < sigh > Luddite, indeed. Fortunately, this is mostly a garbage email account so I don’t think much of importance was lost. Still. Annoying as hell. And entirely self-inflicted for losing that piece of paper with my password on it!
I’ll never be a cell phone person, really.
Time for bed. Good night, everyone! Have wonderful days tomorrow.
