yes, thank you. 3 of the incoming freshman look really good; one of them scored 48 pts. The 4th is 7’2" and at 18 is a bit ungainly. We have a transfer senior from Charlotte who also is about 7+’ and he was very impressive. Didn’t get home until 10:15pm. Internetted for awhile then went to bed shortly before midnight. Slept 8+ hrs, could hardly believe it!
Today Hubs & I went to the Tigers vs Orioles game. He got seats in the upper deck 2nd row just slightly to the right of home plate. It was in the 80s, sun beating down, no breeze. I braved it for 3 innings then went to the top of the section 3rd row from the top but under the overhang and there was a breeze up there; much more comfortable. Hubs stayed in his seat the entire time; he said that a woman about 4 rows back passed out after I left for shade. Tigers scored in 3rd, 5th and 6th innings. As top of 7th started, it was 7 zip. We left our seats after the 9th, watched the 10th from the lower deck, walked to car during top of 11th then listened to rest of the game in car. Tigers lost in the 12th 10-9. Oh well. I know FCM likely doesn’t care but maybe FCD follows the Orioles and is happy.

Cat_Glove potato candy is cold smashed N.O.T., peanut butter and powdered sugar. It is as sickeningly sweet as it sounds. It’s a kinda southern nostalgia thing. You think you want it, but when you take a bite, you remember why you don’t want it.

Today I Learned
He was nice about it. You take a little bit of old mashed taters and add enough powdered sugar to make a dough. Then you mix more powdered sugar in some peanut butter to make a paste. Roll out the dough to a quarter inch or so and then slather it with peanut paste. Roll and chill for an hour then slice.
This part is perfect, though!!!
Now that Hubs is filling the bird feeders, he’s taking an interest in the birds we are feeding. Today he explained all about the hummingbird migration patterns here and last week he told me how to tell female gold finches from males. Bless his heart.
Harry is making plans for electric fencing around the apple trees. There isn’t power out there so he’s talking about using car batteries and rotating them - some protecting the trees from marauding deer - and some on the chargers.
Watching the neighbors is much more entertaining when one of them is feuding with the wildlife!

Nothing much to mention today. Work was busy/stressful but not terrible, the evening commute was slow but not terrible, etc. I got home early enough that I was again able to do some Lego assembly before adjourning to the TV room: if that trend continues, I should finish the Yellow Delivery Truck tomorrow. Then I can start the 1996 Ford GT40 MKII. Right now it’s 9:18, and I’m watching more Elementary (I’m halfway through the final season) while eating some cookies and putzing around online. This episode will end in about 10 min, and then I think I’ll head upstairs: I meant to go to sleep early last night but didn’t, so I’m going to try again tonight.
Phew! 
My “when I win the lottery” plans include having a great big back yard – then I won’t mind paying someone to maintain it – with a glass-walled “storm observation center” in the middle. If I decide to spend my billions on a place in the city, though, swap out “great big back yard” for “great big flat (lightning-safe) roof.”

I love baseball, and am a lifelong Yankees fan. I grew up mostly near Baltimore but both sides of my family are from northern NJ, and neither parent was into sports but the uncles who taught me about baseball were (are) Yankees fans; therefore, I became one as well. I’ve lived in Northern Virginia since 1998, and shortly after the Nationals moved to DC in 2005 I started dating someone who bought a pair of season tickets every year: while we were together, I bought his other ticket and we went to 60-70 (out of 81) home games a year for a couple of years. (And, yes, I rooted for them: it didn’t feel like cheating, because the Nats are in the National League and the Yankees are in the American League. ) These days I don’t have many local friends who are into baseball, but I’ll still go a Nats game from time to time and I keep an eye on them – I did get emotional when they won the World Series in 2019 – but the Yankees are and will always be My Team. 
I used to be into ice hockey (one of the baseball uncles was also a hockey uncle), and in the past few years I’ve developed an interest in English football (Up the Town!). Basketball doesn’t do anything for me, and I’m ambivalent about American football.
Up from naptime. dinner is cheese tortellini with meatballs and home made sauce, with spinach with olives and garlic. And a martini.

Skunks stomp their front feet to express, basically, “Karen, whaaaat?” while waving their tails to remind their audience of their capabilities.
So I sat quietly on my side steps. While sparking up something that’s often compared to skunk.
And quietly giggling. They were entertaining as hell.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 18c/64f with a predicted high of 21c/70f and cloudy. Weather app says “Cloudy as fucking shit”. I agree, it is cloudy out there and that’s perfectly fine with me.
Out of curiosity, I also checked rents for the area I live in. I could rent a rather modern-looking 2 bed unfurnished flat here for just short of $1,000 a month. There are places in town available for half that amount but I would not want to live in them.
Cookie it’s a good thing they are already thinking about options for the kids for the future, sounds like there may be a bit of planning involved there.

Yesterday was a mixed bag of a day. The all-staff meeting was not worth the bother, didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know, and was really as waste of time. The bonus is that it was scheduled for an hour and only took half that time.
I went to the pub with my friends last night, it was busy as our local university had some of their graduation ceremonies today and someone was having a private party in the conservatory bit. It was cool and dry so we sat outside all evening instead and had a very pleasant time. I am on campus again today, the Travel Gods were reasonably nice to me so I hope that doesn’t mean they’re going to be nasty later!

That’s the big plan of the day, as we are content in our RDOS slothful ways. Sup will be my world famous Eyetalian chikin, succotash, a cheesy broccoli and rice thing from a box (don’t judge!) and cheddar bay bizkits. Not real imaginative, but it’ll feed.

Today starts with 66 Ferrets and exhaustion. I could not fall asleep last night, partly because I overindulged in sweet cherries, and my gastrointestinal system let me know it was unhappy, and partly because my shins were itchy, even tho I got up twice to slather moisturizer on them. It was after 3 when I finally dropped off, so the 7 AM alarm was most unwelcome. But I need to be at the hospital for my 8:30 EEG appointment. Dammit. I’ll be leaving in a few and I need to roust FCD out of bed to tend to Otis before I go. I wonder how exhaustion will affect the EEG??
No other plans for the day so far. I may well come home and nap. We’ll see.

73 Feral Cats upon regaining consciousness this morning. Heading toward 89 for the day, then the bottom drops out tomorrow.
Thursday is housekeeping day at The Home. It’s one of the best perks of this sort of facility. She doesn’t clean under furniture and only makes a once-a-month attempt at dusting, but the floors get mopped and the carpets vacuumed, countertops cleaned and bathrooms swabbed out/disinfected. These are difficult things for older folk to manage.
Found a home for my Strat and amp. My 20 year old grandson has expressed an interest in it. I just have no interest in it any longer and have made no serious attempt to pick it up in the last five years.
