(Old) About your favorite pet in the MMP

Morning all! Just a quick stop in before my day ramps up! hugs to all for the trials, tribulations, joys and excitements in life.

Went walking around the mall with dating guy for a few hours yesterday. It was a lot of fun, just chatting as we walked, going in to stores and looking around. The one thing I did find out while there, though, is that I could get into a lot of financial trouble in Five Below. I’ve already got stocking stuffer ideas! I also got snagged at a couple kiosks but being broke helps keep me from buying things I don’t need!

When I got home, Hubby and I watched season 2 of Picard. The lateness of the hour meant we ended on a cliffhanger episode but we’ll dive back in today.

Today, Hubby had a doctor’s appointment and I have PT, so there’s going to be a lot of driving between them. I’m going to spend the afternoon setting up some things I got on Prime day. Which means rearranging my computer desk a bit but for efficiency, I’m for it!

The weekend is low key, nothing set plans but we’ve got a new board game to play and TVs to swap out. So it will all be good.

Now I’d better get this booty in gear! Have a great day, all!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. We will find Bella, I just hope we find her soon. Charlie is in a no-kill shelter so he has time to grab someone else’s heart. Hopefully that growth might never change and Charlie will live a long and healthy life with a loving family. If we hadn’t just gone through that horrible nightmare with VBC, we probably would have been willing to take that chance, I do hope he finds someone soon.

Ummmmm…sometimes it’s better to have a diagnosis you can point at when people tell you to suck it up, it’s all in your head?

That’s the best I’ve got, sorry.

I have some very harsh words for the big holes in the public safety net. Often the people who need help the most are the ones least suited to jumping through all the hoops.

I hope things get better soon.

shoe, I’m sorry for your co-worker. It doesn’t matter if you know it’s coming, it is still a shock when it happens.

Today will include unpacking a few more boxes and doing laundry. Hubs has been looking at adoptable cats so we will be meeting a few this weekend, but we don’t have anything planned for today.

I have acquired some super cute lamps, one with a stained glass shade

Imgur

and several with fabric and beaded shades that are probably around my age. George is a very graceful cat despite his size, he hasn’t ever knocked any of my bowls or vases off the shelves, so I’m not horribly concerned about him knocking the lamps over. We don’t know Bella, she might be a clumsy goof, so I ordered some museum wax to stick the lamps down because I want the glass one on my desk.

The wax got here yesterday and I got everything ready and then flipped the lamp upside down to see the fabric glued to the bottom. Damn, museum wax doesn’t work on fabric, I’ll have to figure something else out. Oh well, I’ve got nothing else to do with my time, LOL!!!

It’s a beautiful day today. Luckily all my meetings are one on one meetings with team members. Except the one I just missed, which I likely will not be attending, thanks to the global Microsoft outage. Another day off work would be nice.

First, the A/C broke. Then the mice came and infested the building. Now we’ve got the plague. And no one can log on. This is not the month for work. Apparently I can go into the help desk if I want, but I really can’t because covid.

Curious to see how long it takes for the patch to be released.

You got our weather forecast too. Nice break from the triple digits earlier in the week.

When Nelson was sick last month, I was beginning to think that I’d be making a donation of kibble to the shelter, but eventually, he began eating it again. It did help when I cut back on stuff to just get calories in him once he began feeling better. Hope that Buster and Maisie go back on their usual feed.

I wonder if Command strips would hold your lamp just enough not to be yeeted off your desk by a feline?

Hugs to you shoe and to your coworker too.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, a load of towels / sheets in the dryer, a load of clothes in the wash and fixing to do KP / houseirk. I’ll also make the menu and grocery list shortly for the trip to the sto’ this afternoon. Some time this weekend, I’ll take a chainsaw and hack off his feet trim Nelson’s nails, which would be easier to do with another person helping.

My clicky knee is pretty much better, but now, my back, hips and other knee are achy (the clicky one didn’t really hurt, just swollen and clicked whenever I took a step). This whole gettin’ old sucks some days.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

jtc, ah, poor charlie. i’m sure he will find a good home.

i mentioned last week that i watched garage sale mysteries while doing the furniture shuffle last weekend, there were 6 episodes about 1.5-2 hours each. there was a “based on” so i figured i would look at the books. there are 4, 9 ish dollars, so i thought why not. bought book one.

whoa nellie! the only thing the tv show and the books have in common are 2 character names and the title garage sale. “based on” seriously! no, not at all!

the tv series is light, cozy, with brief moments of danger. the perfect thing to watch while doing something else.

the books are dark, intense, dealing with severe abuse, terror cells, human trafficking, serial killers, and scams. the books are good and the writer has a good way of showing her hand and weaving things together. i’m on number 4 right now.

this weekend i have more shuffling to do, then sorting. 5 pieces of furniture have drawers and i emptied the drawers into boxes, bags, and baskets. once the last 2 pieces are in place, i will sort the drawers.

Do be sure the chainsaw blade is dull enough! Have you ever considered a grooming sling? Amazon.com: Kkiimatt 10 in 1 Pet Grooming Hammock Harness with Nail Clippers/Trimmer, Nail File,Dog Nail Hammock, Dog Grooming Sling for Nail Trimming/Clipping

I have a friend who regularly rips her Pom’s toes off with rusty pliers and she says that while getting Amber into the sling is a struggle, once she is hanging, she just goes limp with defeat.

Thanks for the Command Strip recommendation. I used them for a few things in our last place and I don’t think they work very well on fabric either. The bottom of the lamp base seems to have a solid surface under the felt so I’m thinking that if I pull the lamp part up some, I can fill it with sand or glass beads to add some more weight to the brass base.

But honestly, if it gets broken…the Antique Police won’t toss me in the hoosegow, it will just be a mess to clean up.

As I was leaving:
Roomie: “WHY ARE YOU BITING MY FINGERNAILS?”
Spot: “WHY ARE YOU AMPUTATING MY TOENAILS?”
So that chore is done, I guess.
It was back to FUBAR at work, SSLAW #1 was broke for 80% of the sort. I got bounced between Smalls, the Mez, and irregs. But that’s done for the day, and laundry is drying. Naptime.

Reconsidering the cabana boy thing, then?
But hope it’s a quick fix for the itchies.

I’m on a first name basis with the ones the complex uses.

Or a serial yeeter, like Spot. But nice shades.

I think what you want is a Santeria priest at this point.

Same to you!

Done at the cardiologist - I like him. He set me up for a stress test on Aug 1 - so we’ll see. I walked thru Lowe’s and discovered that there are refrigerators with 2 ice makers - one thru the door and another in the drawer. WANT!!!

Now I’m in Cracker barrel having soup and salad. Shoulda gone to Olive Garden. Oh well. When done, it’s off to urgent care, then to CVS and the credit union. Then home to launder. Woohoo!

Afternoon (well, it will be here by the time I finish this) all. Actually timed things well, did all my shopping and got it back to the house and inside before the rain started. Still lightly raining with some thunder in the background and will stay that way for the next several hours according to the weather wizards. Now the debate is if I go out in the rain to do my swimming, wait until this evening to do my swimming, or say F*** it all and stay home all day…tough decision.

Real Fishy, don’t think I’ve been in a 5 Below store before, might have to give them a look-see.

Talkie, sounds like a wasted day at work. Hang in their, it’s Firday!

FCM, glad the day is going as planned (and yes, you should have gone to Olive Garden for soup and salad…).

Think I will get my big bowl of Salad early and then let the evening meal take care of itself. Have a good one all.

I had applied at a new place few days ago. The guy said he had to take care of a delivery.
I called later. I messaged the place on facebook and called and left a message last night.
Today I get an e mail saying, I got all your messages. I will review all applications and call those I decide to interview.
Okay, thats out.
One last interview tomorrow. I’ve interviewed before but was unsuccessful.
Its my last trying.
Off to tha library.

I’ve been in interview hell this month as well. Phone interviews, face-to-face interviews, placement agency interviews, aptitude tests. I’ve been job seeking for six months, but I’m in high gear right now, so … solidarity.

Home at last - I sat in Urgent Care for over an hour - guess I wasn’t all that urgent, but DANG was it cold in there. But I’ll be getting some cream as soon as CVS lets me know it’s ready. So yay!

Not going to bother with laundry today - I just don’t want to. Tomorrow will be fine.

I think supper will be forage in the fridge.

Housekeeping comes today. Up early, made pain de grenouille for breakfast. Got all engaged with the crossword puzzles and missed going to exercise. Made a grocery run: $40, twenty of which was ice cream. The rest of the day should be fairly sluggish.

Attention Please, Important Announcement:

The cat fud crisis has been averted; the Corner Sto’ had small bags of cheap kibble, enough to keep Monkey’s body and soul together until the good stuff on its way via Amazon arrives.

I just didn’t have the energy to deal with the Big People Sto’ (a.k.a. either Wal-Mart or Meijer).

That’s really pretty.

I snortled.

Much sympathy to talky though, and good wishes for a successful upcoming exorcism.

They’re kinda fun. Lotsa random cheap goodies like toys and flip-flops, candy galore, it’s very easy to say, “Oh, that’s so cute, and just a couple of bucks!” and suddenly you’ve loaded a basket with fifty bucks worth of glittery plastic crap stocking stuffers.

Sounds that way - that suxx.

In an interesting reversal, I found the spoons to throw in a load, and how often is my lazy ass the more ambitious one? (Okay, I’m almost out of clean work shirts and my favorite comfy pants don’t have another day of clean-enough left in 'em, so the chore went from “should” to “really hafta soon”.) They won’t be done in time for today, but I should be able to at least move everything to the dryer before leaving for Long Night.

I’ll just leave the basement light on as a reminder to go fetch later. Plus it makes a convenient nightlight for returning home at 2 a.m. since Coolio occupies the same outlet as the lamp-onna-timer.
I can either return home to a well-lit but stuffy home, or a blessedly cool and not-hyuuumid dark box, and a girl’s gotta have her priorities. (And flashlights.)

It has begun.
:jack_o_lantern:
In the stores: pumpkin spice Cheerios and yogurt.

Ugh. The Church of Pumpkin Spice has reactivated.

I harvested my first beefsteak 'mater and a big handful of grape 'maters. And I counted 8 cantaloupes in various stages of growth.

FCD is riding John Deere around the property. I’m making good ice. MIL is sleeping - she didn’t hear her phone ring, and that usually gets her up right away. I’m about to assume the recline position with occasional treks to the kitchen to empty the ice maker.

Firday at FairyChatEstates…

when my friend was young. his mother would have “food safari” night. she would hand each child a fork, open the fridge. what ever your fork touched was your dinner for the night. it made leftover night fun, and slightly dangerous.

Howdy Y’all! Stuff got did and then we brunched. Then it was back to da cave for nappage and a very lazy RDOS rainy afternoon. It started rainin’ around noon and has continued off and on, sometimes heavy downpours and thunder all around. Right now ‘tis 77 Amurrkin out! I fear there will be an ice berg in the cee-mint pond! We day drank and I feel the need for more day drinkin’, even though it’s closer to cocktail hour drinkin’ now. Of course there will be the usual Netflix, chill, and popcorn later.

I actually have one and he hates it even more than being held down. Oddly enough, it didn’t bother him when he was a puppy.

They’re owned by Dollar Tree and do have some things worth the money. But like their parent company, steer clear of knives and electronics.

GMTA. I’m having a garden salad with fake crab meat and an ear of sweet corn. I may have a nice peach for dessert.

I’m curious, what’s this frog bread that you fixed? I tried looking it up, but only got bread shaped like a frog. Is that what you baked?

It’s been a day of adulting. I called CVS to order more insulin (if it goes to autofill, they provide waaaaaaaaaayyy the hell too much and it doesn’t keep), put in a call to Lilly to get reimbursed for two defective insulin pens, did laundry, cleaned house, bought groceries and set up my new-to-me Cricut. Unfortunately, the feed gears are stripped, so I had to contact eBay to begin the return process. I was looking forward to going back to the touchscreen too (my back up machine doesn’t have one unless I install the software on my desktop and then, it’s a bit awkward). Back to shopping for another machine. At this rate, I may make it a point to buy one a year, since it’s been 10 years since they’ve made them.
