(Old) About your favorite pet in the MMP

Thanks. She’s giong to have some bumps frozen off in December. She just texted that the doctor shaved off the one on her hand.

Good luck. I hate itchies!

So TC friend just called, Hubs ordered some cat fud for her (she uses the money from teaching TC for her rescue efforts and I haven’t been going to class, so we thought we owed the cats some kibble).

Apparently, her Fed-Ex guy and our ex-Fed-Ex guy are not the same people because hers just dropped the box over her gate and one of the bags split open. I told her that we could contact Chewy and get her another bag, but she said she was able to pour the kibble into a garbage bag and that the kitties would be just fine, she was just calling to tell me thank you and complain about her asshole Fed-Ex guy because he does that stuff all the time.

Hubs contacted Chewy anyhow so the Fed-Ex guy will have the opportunity to break another bag.

Hubs was going to set up my desktop yesterday but couldn’t find the monitor stand. Today he went through all of the rest of the boxes that didn’t have my handwriting on them and couldn’t find the stand. Despite knowing that he had packed up my comp, he still started going through the boxes with my handwriting with the expected non-results. He’s ordered another stand for me but it won’t be here until next week. I’m OK with this, the only thing I can’t do with my laptop is print or defend Sanctuary. I could probably set up the printer if I was so motivated, but the only thing I print anymore is the class lessons so it is easier to ask him to do it when needed. I don’t really have time for Diablo because that would take some of my “stitch and gaze at the forest” time. It’s finally cooled off, 79 today, and the humidity is lower so sitting on the front porch in the evenings has become quite the habit.

I didn’t like the black out curtains I bought for the dining room, they worked very well but the pattern was too busy for the wallpaper. Today Hubs took those curtains off and put up some solid (sage green) black out curtains for me and I think it looks much better now.

His room heats up during the mornings so tomorrow the old dining room curtains will go up in his room to help with that. I think they will match the paint and dress up the room, he doesn’t care as long as they do what we want.

The main problem with changing out the curtains is that the current curtain rods are those thin white metal ones usually found in apartments built in the 1980’s, the ones that are so close to the wall that they flatten out the pleats. Mounting new curtain rods involves a stepladder and both of us. Him to do the work and me to stand behind him and worry.

We still haven’t heard back about Charlie. I called the Petsmart and asked the nice young person who answered the phone to leave a note for the volunteers who fed the cats. He said he would, but also seemed to think that they don’t seem to be very good at checking their email so doing a physical application might be better. Hubs wants to drive to Charleston in the morning to do fill out the application by hand so his curtains probably won’t get hung this week.

That’s OK. It all has to be done, but it doesn’t all have to be done today.

I’m glad you are having someone look at them, hopefully it will be a quick visit and an easy fix.

I’m glad that is all she needs. It’s much better to get on top of that sort of thing sooner rather than later.

I’d advised her to have a doctor look at it. It wasn’t until one of her patients who’d had skin cancer told her she should see a doctor, that she got an appointment. :man_shrugging:

I just heard from a rescue volunteer. Charlie has a growth in his throat. The vet has seen it several times and says it isn’t growing and will probably be fine but it does need to be monitored.

We are both still raw and heartsick over VBC’s suffering, we just can’t bring ourselves to risk going through it again. Not now, not this soon.

Good. That should be easy-peasy.

Hope your itchies are easily remedied.

Awwww. Poor Charlie and hugs to you, hubs and GG.

The doctor was just going to shave the lesion for a biopsy but she said, ‘I can just take it all off.’ So she did. Fingers crossed the biopsy comes back negative.

Hugs to you and your husband. I’m so sorry you’re both going through this.

We’ll be thinking of Mrs. Flyboy and sending her good thoughts. I hope it turns out to be nothing, but so glad they removed all of it in one go instead of waiting.

Since this is a pet MMP…

When Mrs. L.A. moved in with me in 2010, she brought her rescue cat Harvey with her. This is when we first met ‘Auntie Chris’. (We considered her Harvey’s auntie.) Harvey died in her care after a sudden respiratory illness. I just learned yesterday that Dr. Chris’s sons cat died of a sudden respiratory illness about the same time. Chris was our vet for our rescue cats Tonka and Creamsicle. She took them both over the Rainbow Bridge; Tonka because he was 17 ½ years old, blind, and was suffering; and Creamsicle after she suffered kidney failure at only about six years old, probably after eating a poisoned mouse. She saw Goo when we got her. By that time she was slowing down, very busy, and it was hard to get an appointment. We started taking Goo and Abbey to another vet who could fit us in. But we always waved at her clinic when we drove by.

Chris Carlson was well-loved in our community for her compassion and care. We miss her, as do others whose pets were in her care.

T’was a shock, it was. It just brought her ugly death back up and threw it in our faces, both of us got wet eyes when we got the news. We feel horrible for turning down a wonderful cat over medical issues because we’ve never done that before, but both we both said no right away.

I really don’t want another black or mostly black cat, but it looks like that’s what we will end up getting. Here’s hoping new kitty doesn’t want to lead me to the bathroom like GG does. I always feel badly about kicking him at night, but I don’t put my glasses on to go to the terlit.

For the record, I think black cats rule. They look like little panthers and their fur turns chocolate in the sun. I just can’t see them at night and don’t want to kick or trip over them cause one or both of us will get hurt.

If I ever get a black cat, I will name it Snowball.

Our black cat was Tonka. He was eight years old when we adopted him (the oldest cat at the NOAH shelter), and we kept his name. Goo and Abbey were also previously-named (Goo was six, I think; and Abbey was a couple of years old), so they kept their names too.

There are plenty of other cats out there that could use a loving home.

{ Monkey approves of this post }

… and I sat on him enough times after first getting him that I’ve simply trained myself to pat my chair before plonking down in the middle of the night.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

{{{{MusicaMan and Sticky}}}}

Ye gawds, though. Wasn’t supposed to close tonight, but … well, shit happened.

And tomorrow is Long Night, and I’m already pre-exhausted.

And I can’t even really complain about my life, the mother of one of our crew passed away this morning. She was in & out of the hospital for a while now, and was IIRC in her late 90s so this wasn’t ezzactly a total shock, but my co-worker is still understandably quite broken up & my very lovely co-workers are all rallying for her as best we can.

She even showed up, briefly, so work rather predictably screeched to a halt while we pretty much had a hug party.

Monkey has received some gooshy-fud to make up for the fact that I’m completely out of kibble. :open_mouth: There’s more on order on the way, but imma hafta get a little bag of crap kibble tomorrow to tide him over.

I have a pot { snerk } pie in the oven. Too tired for anything else.

Oh, the SIM card arrived shortly before I headed out to the trenches work (thank the gawds!) but dealing with my phone is so totally back-burnered for now.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 89 with yet again light rain showers predicted for later in the day. We shall see. Since I did not do this yestiddy, today I shall betake myself over to the church house to take care of candle duty. Afterward we shall be bears who brunch at Newk’s. The rest of the day shall be spent on RDOS inactivity.

MOOOOOOM hope urgent care can help you fix the itchies.

FlyBoy hope Mrs. survived the hand thing relatively unscathed. It is good to get on top of those things. Also, I got a giggle about your walk. You walked π today!

JtC sorry about the sad memory of VBC. There will be another cat out there for GG.

Coppertone I’ve always said that if I have a pet snake its name will be Fluffy.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed, yet again. My life is just so awful!

Happy Firday Y’all!

Good morning. Thanks for all the warm thoughts.

MusicMan is doing better than I expected. I hope when he wakes up today he will continue to be ok. Thank you, JtC, for the suggestion. I had already started looking for someone to help with the fight. Unfortunately, it’s kind of like my own fight - how much is it worth vs how much will it take out of you to have to relive all your horrors over and over again? The thing that I think is most awful and most surprising is this sentence (slightly paraphrased because I don’t have the letter in front of me): “Favorable outcome received. You have been diagnosed with a disability. You have been diagnosed with PTSD.”

Favorable???

In other news, the job interview went ok. It might actually pay more than I expected, but they might not want me because nearly all of my experience is with children with more significant needs and this is for children with more typical needs. So, my experience isn’t quite as valid. But, I have to say it was a super cool old building. I would guess that the school had been built in the early 1900s. I mean, there were fire places in two of the rooms that I was in on the second floor! Oh, and I had to amble my way up the stairs to the second floor when I got there. Fortunately my leg is a tiny bit better. Then when my interview was done, they let me know there was an elevator which I took back down because I am worse at going down the stairs than up.

JtC, I am sorry for what you found out about Charlie. I can certainly understand your decision.

Flyboy, yes, it is good that your wife was able to get that taken care of now.

FCM, glad you were going to get to the urgent care.

Bit of craziness getting the Urgent Care appointment changed but it’s all good now… I hope. I’d originally scheduled it for 8:20, since I need to be at the cardiologist at 9:45. But I got to thinking if something happened and they ran long, I’d have problems. So I canceled that appt and made a new one for noon at a location closer to the cardiologist office. Which means laundry will be done late. But I’m hoping to get a scrip for the itchies - if it’s truly scabies, there’s no OTC meds for it. And the cardio visit is to get a baseline evaluation, since, yanno, I’m 70 and all.

And if there’s enough time between appts, Lowe’s is really close and I want to go look at refrigerators. Just because. Or I’ll get lunch.

FCD is actually taking my advice to heart and not going to the boat today. He really needs to take a few days to let his legs and back rest, but if all I get is one day, I’ll take it. The man doesn’t know how to rest. At this rate, by the time he gets the boat all fixed up, he’ll be too crippled to take it anywhere. But knowing his parents, he’s inherited a double stubborn gene.

And being Firday, there’s laundry, which will get done late today.

It’s a relatively cool morning - only 68°, so I opened a few windows. We’re headed to mid-80s today, and pretty much 80s for the next several days - huzzah!! I need to mow - maybe I can get the ditches done tomorrow morning before the next batch of rain is forecast.

As you can see, excitement continues at FairyChatEstates. Happy Firday!!!

Good morning.

It’s 59F and mostly clear outside. Once again, we will have abundant sunshine. Our expected high temperature will be 86F. I wouldn’t mind a little rain, but it seems this weather is going to stretch on for the foreseeable future.

Sticky Buns, I’m so sorry about everything you’re enduring. Being caught in the middle of folks who can’t or won’t get along and dealing with all the bad news is a lot. Take care of yourself.

FlyBoy, I’m glad the doc could take care of the Missus yesterday. I hope the results are good.

FCM, it’s good that FCD is taking a break. He should listen more often! I also hope your itchies will be handled today at the doc in the box.

JtC, I’m sorry about the news for poor Charlie. I can understand why you did it. I hope he finds a good home.

Yesterday was quite the day, and I had to manage a problem from afar. I received a call from the MPA early because she was in the office. The carpet in the SD’s office, the conference room next to that, and outside both of those rooms was soaking wet—so wet that it squished and squelched when walked on.

I immediately called the property management company, and one of our handy employees walked around to try to figure out the cause. It looks like a sprinkler head was busted right outside the office of the SD (outside). The SD was in her office on Wednesday and commented that the carpet under the computer desk felt damp and speculated they must have steam cleaned. I thought that was odd because we use carpet tiles, and they don’t typically steam clean them. I sort of shrugged it off and went on to the next thing. So things went from slightly damp to sopping wet by yesterday morning.

They sent in disaster cleaners, set up air scrubbers, and had fans blowing by afternoon. The last I heard, they were checking the walls for moisture.

Other than that, it was the usual work stuff. Today, I have three interviews, and maybe, just maybe, I will take the afternoon off. It depends on what shows up in my email.

I’m not sure what my weekend plans are. I need a pedicure, but I’m not sure I’ll get to it.I also want to do stuff in my yard, and the back lawn needs to be mowed. I’d like to go somewhere, but I think I’ll put that off until next weekend because I’ll have three days, not just Saturday and Sunday. I hate cramming extra stuff into two days AND trying to take care of the usual weekend chores. I understand my limits, and know that this feeling is just because I cram so much into my work days. I didn’t used to be so bothered by cramming a lot into weekends.

The pups are still on kibble strike, so I need to make sure I pick up new food at the store today .

Well, that’s all for Taterland. I am sending all of you my best and hope for a smooth day.

Morning all. It did rain last night and more is expected later this AM, so that will help the grass grow (so I will have to mow it more often, let me think that out again…). It has cooled us down some, 71F this morning and only getting to 80F today. Need to do some Friday shopping and swimming, but otherwise not much on the agenda. Credit card payments sent and money moved around, so will check that today on-line.

{{{{hugs}}}} all around for the various challenges we’re all facing.

FCM, hope they get the itchies taken care of.

JtC, a hard decision, but I know when it hurts that much to lose a pet, you don’t want to hurt that way again.

flyboy, hoping the Mrs. biopsy is clean.

shoe, hang in there. And a spare { } to your co-worker.

Sticky Buns, hope things work out for both you and MusicMan.

Taters, had a damp carpet in my house a few years ago, it really is a strange feeling to hear the squishing under your feet while on supposedly ‘dry’ carpet. I’m sure they are checking for mold and will get the plumbing folks in quickly.

And now I need to break fast and get about the day. All y’all take care.
