(Old) About your favorite pet in the MMP

Happy Birthday, Wheelz!

And I hope you’re feeling better, VanGo - barfing is no fun.

It’s a beautiful day outside once more. So far in the 70s, gorgeous breeze. I would like to take the day off but given that I’ve been so foggy and unproductive I should probably work. Also, other than walk around outside or read, I wouldn’t do much other than maybe make some bread.

The headache is back (mostly pressure I think from the congestion), but I slept for a good long chunk last night, I think partly because I made myself go on a walk. It gave me a bit of a headache, too - EVERYTHING seems to give me a headache - and I could manage just over a stroll but it was worth it.

I’m hoping my sense of smell and taste come back soon. On the one hand, I don’t overeat when I can’t taste anything; on the other hand, it feels like I’m eating paste or cardboard when I eat, which is a bummer.

Morning all. Did get a little rain last night but no thunderstorms, but there is a good chance of rain tomorrow. Just broke fast and heard the garbage truck come by, so need to bring the bin in the house in a bit, but outside of that and some cleaning, not much on the agenda. Will try to keep my gym streak going (would be 15 days straight, which means I am very dedicated or very boring, YMMV). 77F heading to 86F so a little cooler.

Flyboy, your insurance would rather total your car than pay a couple thousand to get the catalytic convertor replaced? Sounds silly to me, but I am not an insurance person. Glad it’s still going strong. Hope the skin results are negative, had a biopsy a couple of months ago on a spot that turned out negative, so wishing for the same result for her.

{{{Sari}}}, sad to hear about cousin, going to be hard on her family. And can’t imagine what aunt is going through…

boo fae, some people can be miserable human beings…and then there are ones like you, who restore my faith that we are a caring species. And just think of all the interest that .48p will earn, you’ll be a millionaire by the time the earth is swallowed by the sun… As for the hoodie, I’d guess their central warehouse is in Latvia so everything goes there to be sorted; just be glad it didn’t end up in Turkmenistan…

Best of luck on the job interview, Sticky Buns. You best know how to balance your finances with your mental well-being, you’ll make the best call for you.

swampy, hope the Doc visit goes well.

Nettie, sounds like Buddy is getting back to being his normal PITA self.

Taters, I do agree with your boss in spending it all, don’t give the folks above any reason to think you can do it on less or they’ll be cutting you back. And best wishes to Buster on his impending loss of manhood…

talkie, just take it easy and let your body tell you when to get back to normal operations. And hoping that the sense of taste resumes soon; that’s one of the bonuses of living, IMHO.

OK, need to go fetch the empty garbage bin and do some house stuff. Have a good Thorsday all.

The shop said they’d have to use the same California-certified/CARB-certified (apparently they’re different certifications) converter, and the CARB-certified converter and installation would have been $4,000. (Cats are expensive.) After the car was totalled and the shop wasn’t contracting with the insurance company, they could put the CA-certified but not CARB certified converter on for $2,000. But even then, the car would have been totalled because 2005 Priuses were (according to the insurance company) only worth $1,500. It’s standard practice in the industry. If the cost of repair exceeds a certain percentage of the car’s insurance company-determined value, the total the car.

The big item on my agenda today is a telephone consult with the leading DVM expert on equine neck threadworms. Do not Google images. Gross. This is after the farrier trims Ariel. Guess I’m horsing around today……bad pun

 That was a pretty half-assed attack.

Woke up suddenly from a bad stress nightmare. I really hate those. Additionally, the hip pain flared up, so my mood this morning isn’t great. Took a couple of Excedrin and we’ll see how the day goes. At least we’re in the 70s for the next few days, which is a relief. Turned off the AC and opened the windows.

Breakfast was some reheated black beans topped with a fried egg, and half a bagel on the side. Coffee for the cobwebs. My coordination in the kitchen was messed up by my preoccupation with the dream/pain, so I bumbled around dropping things and making a general mess.

Somehow things went well at work. I guess the gremlins all died of exhaustion after the last 2 weeks. I did my Senior Day Shopping at Teeter, and narrowly avoided being creamed by a Suburban rushing to get a parking spot on the way in, and almost head on-ed by a GMC pickup turning left and drifting into my lane on the way out. I still gotta go to the Likker Sto.

Slavic Temu?

Or get Annie her own PC and SDMB account.

:cake:  :champagne:HAPPY DOPERVERSARY red!!!:champagne:  :cake:

:birthday:  :champagne:HAPPY BIRTHDAY Wheez!!!:champagne:  :birthday:

That is weird for Labs.

I read that as telephone insult, like you were talking to equine veterinarian House.

No bother! And since no one beat me to it, the knowledge test is for her getting her permit. I want her driving so I don’t have to schlep her everywhere for college. If she doesn’t pass the knowledge test, we’ll get the straight ID instead.

First, thank you, wordy for your kind words. I’m trying to engender that it’s strength!

Second, I did have a good time! I knew most of the ladies but one I only knew in passing and another I didn’t know at all. There was a good mix of crafters and other non-crafting chatters. We talked about drama, shared funny stories, teased each other and introduced one another to funny YouTube things. Meta is going to do this bi-weekly, so I’m looking forward to the next one!

Happy belated birthday, wheelie!

JtC, they’re definitely starting to. It’s not nearly as bad as I it was 2 months ago! Hope you’re move went well.

{{{VanGo}}} Sick always sucks, especially from heat. I hope whatever you put on your stomach stayed the second time!

Thank you, MetalMouse! For the most part, it seems to have, though another friend passed unexpectedly this weekend and there was a little drama kicked up from a conversation last night, but that got worked out smoothly by 1am. So I’m crossing all the appendages in the hopes of a continued downward trend in bad things.

{{{sari}}} My condolences. This has been a year heavy with lots and it’s always worse when it’s someone younger, especially with family.

doggio, don’t you know that everything is always the fault of the workers and never the fault of management or machine failure? Silly man, thinking it could be blamed on anything else! And thank you for being here. That goes for all of you!

I’d have added “And that’s just the way I like it!” But then, I’m a freak like that!

I’m grrring will you. I don’t understand people who think of pets as disposable.

And thank you for saying you think I’m stronger than I think. It’s good to hear that people think so, especially when I’m having trouble remembering it.

It’s amazing the round about routes packages take. I’ve had things go from Nashville (where I am) to Memphis, to Ohio, and then back to Nashville. I’d much rather be the one going on a tour of places instead of my mail!

Crossing of appendages!

swampy, I’m glad we got CtE through graduation as well! Now if we can get her butt in gear for getting ready for higher learnin’, I’ll be happy!

My mind being on getting CtE her permit had me reading that as DMV instead, which has me very confused why they would have anything to do with equines or neckworm. Then I took a reread and all was sane again!

Today will be fairly low key. I’m supposed to relive my teen years by hanging out at the mall with the guy I’m dating. We never fixed a time so I should probably check with him about that. CtE’s therapist is on vacation, so I may try to convince Hubby to start watching the 2nd season of Picard with me tonight. And it’s not supposed to be a hot today so I may take a little time reading on the porch. Regardless, it will be a good day. I’m going to keep that mindset to make it happen.

Good day, all!

Things are not good here at all. MusicMan found out today just before work that his appeal to the VA has been denied. They said that, yes, he has PTSD, but that they don’t think it’s from his time of service. At work today they wouldn’t even let him do his job because he was so upset. I am very worried about him. He just sent me a text to say he would be home soon.

I went into a staffing agency office yesterday for an interview with a placement guy (he says things look good and he could have me in at someplace within the week … but I digress). The place has a front reception area with employment resources - job board, terminals, things like that - so there were other job seekers in there doing whatever they were doing while I waited for my appointment.

One guy, who came into briefly talk to the receptionist before filling out some form another, was wearing a t-shirt that read:

FUCK THIS
FUCK THAT
FUCK ME
FUCK YOU
FUCK OFF

(there were little smiley faces after each “fuck” so it wasn’t totally off-putting)

I so desperately wanted to ask him how the job search was going but I think I already know.

Not just the modem, but also our router got fried. Right now, we’re using the router from FCD’s shop, so we need to get a new one for him. Still, back on line. I’ve got to reprogram a few more smart plugs, then I’ll be done.

FCD and I went out to lunch, then down to the boat to do a few things, but he didn’t want to leave his mom alone too long, so we’re back. I need to wind down, then I’ll get caught up.

Hope you all had a Happy Thursday!

ive had 4 cats and 2 dogs that i loved …but blackie the cat im holding in my Facebook pic was one aunt and i hand raised from almost death …cousin found her and sibling in a roach trap after being dumped sibling was dead but she couldnt see or bre so cousin brought her to mom to see if she could be saved … well we almost lost her becuase the PetSmart advice wasnt working so we bottled fed her and took her to the vet and spent a lot of money t and it took a month or two held her for so long that shed slept on my shoulder ad id walk around …eventually she did that as a full grown cat

She was 18 when she passed

from the last mmp :

i bought a box of store-quality ice bags so i can drop them on the floor to bust them up …

RE: your in-laws you have the patience of a saint ..id of committed aggravated homicide by now

Howdy Y’all! I did the doc and got bled by the vampires. Then we et a biiiiiig breakfast (well, more like brunch bein’ as it was at ten thirty a.m.). After that it was home for nappage. A large and in charge tstorm moved through whilst I was at the doc. OYKW said we got a lot of rain in about thirty minutes at da cave. Temp has been in the low 90s today and it feels less humid, so there’s that. Oh and we day drank out by the cee-mint pond cause 'twas nice and non-humid enough to sit outside. In a little while it shall be Netflix, chill, and popcorn time. WOOHOO!!!

Well dang. Not only are you spending money on new gear, trying to do your research when you can’t get online is a real PITA.

:people_hugging:

I am so sorry. While I’m sure he’s contacted the DAV for help, you haven’t said anything about a lawyer. Many of the lawyers who work disability denials know that you don’t have any money so they take their fee out of the settlement if there is one. If there isn’t, you shouldn’t owe them anything.

I used to be a food stamp worker. I was horrible about judging people’s desire to work by their facial tattoos. There aren’t many employers who want their front line workers to have marijuana leaves or their cheeks or a middle finger flipping the bird on their nose.

I also has a grrrrr. Poor kitties risking getting tossed out on the street after she’s had them for five years is just horrible. I have many bad words to say about that.

Why didn’t I listen?

Poor you and poor Ariel!!!

Ick for the headache, I’m sorry you are going through this. Remember to drink lots of water and try to rest as much as you can.

Afternoon all. Some serious cycling got done this afternoon but am back home recuperating. For some reason my garbage wasn’t picked up (I may have had the bins to close for the magic mecha arm to grab it) so it’ll sit for another week (only 60% full so I have space for this week’s waste). Recyclables were grabbed after I moved the garbage bin back inside. Weather is cloudy and rain is possible Firday through all next week but haven’t seen any real downpours yet. Cheeburger is about 80% defrosted so should be ready for dinner in a bit.

flyboy, I forgot your car was old enough to drink (18 in some states). Makes perfect sense now, both them and you.

Cookie, don’t think I ever had a stress nightmare, hope the day went better for you.

doggio, sounds like those other drivers beat you too the Likker store…

Had exactly the same reaction. Of course if wet one rode Ariel into the DMV, it might get talked about…

Sticky Buns, sending extra {{{{hugs}}}} because you and MusicMan can use them.

J-Bats, would say that wearing that shirt to an interview would be contra-indicated, IMHO. That said, I know how he feels, there are days…

FCM, must have been an heck of an electrical discharge; glad it is fixable.

shady, nice story about the cat you saved.

OK, on to my daily TV watching (Pardon the Interruption on ESPN) and then thinking about dinner. Take care all.

oh believe me she was the most spoiledest cat we’ve ever owned …hell had no fury than she did if dinner was later than 5 after ten… Although she did try for it to be as early as 4 pm lol never happened tho

I’m so very sorry sari. Even when you don’t see them often, cousins can be pretty special.

Cancer sucks. The good news is that having the lesions removed doesn’t even require getting knocked out.

As do I. :rage:

Yay! If you begin at low pay, is there the opportunity to increase it?

Ahhh, thank you! I knew that it was sometime this month, but forgot what date.

Atilla shares a birthday with Nelson, but 10 years earlier.

Grrrrrrr!

It’s an older vehicle. Usually, if the damage is more than 50% of the book value (never mind what someone would actually give you for it), it’s totaled, especially if it’s a popular model that kept many parts the same for a few years.

Damn!

Irked, swung through Sonic on the way home (on my trip home from Dad’s, I found that their little $1.99 bacon queso wrap was quite tasty), walked Nelson (he got to say howdy to Lupio across the fence) and et. Sloth is planned for the rest of the evening.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

These sorts of stories always remind me of the woman who came in to interview for a position in my department years ago. She showed up in jeans and a sweatshirt, plopped down and put her Starbucks cup on my desk, then looked totally bored throughout the interview while occasionally slurping whatever was in the cup.

Irked. Walked 3.14 miles. Ran the dishwasher and put the dishes away. Mowed the back lawn (the front’s OK for now). Gave the kitties their gooshy food. Had a shower. Now the cool-down.

As I was typing about my day, I got a text: 'Doctor’s going to do my hand today

Thinking good thoughts for wifey’s hand having nothing going on. My wifey had what looked like a melanoma to her and PCP but then disappeared, causing us to wonder if it was actually a skin-burrowing insect acquired in Chile.

Going to Urgent Care first thing tomorrow to have my itchies looked at, hoping they get me done fast before my cardiologist appointment. My doctor is pretty well booked indulgent care is part of medstar, so it works.

It’s been a day…
