(Old) Alexa, start the MMP

Bless you dear lady. I am thinking that tomorrow if I feel too cooped up of going there and just sitting in the sauna for awhile, nothing strenuous, just some sweating and showering.

nellie, I bet Noisy Neighbor has been evicted before due to the same issue, and has learned the tricks to maximize their time there prior to eviction. You and the neighbors keep on documenting.

Good question. I know the top of cars is usually not a good measuring stick, as it can drift around up there, but how it’s done officially I don’t know (goes to goggle and viola!Measuring Snow)

doggio, Edgar Allen Poe could write a story around that pic; stay warm.

And closing in on 10pm, will soon be off to slumberland, so catch y’all on Hump Day.

A whole 1 ferret outside as I make my way up the stairs to bed. Let’s hope this crap ends soon.

I was asked today to oversee some tech rehearsals for the Jr high play. I don’t know what the show is, what the tech requirements are, or how to use their lighting or sound boards. I’ve been told that all I have to do is be a school department employee in the space, but I’m not really comfortable with that. What should I do?

Be a school department employee in that space.

In particular enjoy those 3 words in the middle ‘school department employee’.

Don’t let any kids lick the door knobs or accept dares to stick their tongue on a frozen flag pole or stick a fork into an electric outlet, yanno, basic stuff.

Holy socks, Batman. That sounds amaze-balls.

“Alexa, fix me this delicious hot drink!”

{ plunks down a leather satchel full of coins with a loud CLANK }

Five degrees out there right now, and intermittent snow.
It’s supposed to “warm back up” into the 20s in a coupla days.

Whatever. I’m off tomorrow.

For now, there’s a pot pie in the oven, and I’m tossing Monkey some scraps of deli turkey. (He is a BIG FAN of the stuff.)

Off to murder some zombies.

Ugh. Woke around 1:30 because my shin skin was crazy itchy. The lotion bottle in the bathroom felt full, but it didn’t want to give up its contents. I got out enough to coat the itchy area, but I’m wide awake. Dammit. Sleepy, tho, so just a quick post before maybe more zzzzzzzzzzzz

Stoopit shin.

I’ve got everything but for the creme de cocoa. I forsee a visit to the liquor store.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 20 degrees Ferret Height(-6.66 Centipedes), but the snow has stopped falling and the plows are rolling. YUKON, HO!

The Unfed Cat by Edgar Allen Poe, with forward by Spot

Thanks.

I don’t care that it’s 2am. That sounds like something I could drink right now!

I hadn’t quite thought of it that way but I agree. When I was a kid, I constantly begged my mom to quit. It wasn’t for another 30 years that she wanted to and she made it happen.

I’m very proud of CtE. She really is maturing quite a bit. And she thinks she’s settling in on a career as a librarian. I think she’ll do great!

I usually go out with a ruler and measure what’s on top of my porch railing. Being in the apartment makes anything else not as convenient or reliable.

Insane seems to be an understatement! I can’t even wrap my mind around the thought that a school district would be so careless with kids’ and teachers’ lives to keep school open in that kind of cold. I can’t help but imagine scenes from one of the latter Little House books when Laura was teaching and had the class keep on their coats and do their work around the fire.

Thank you. Sometimes heading that from someone that isn’t your kid’s teacher helps. I just wish there was a way to make it easier for both my kids.

doggio, that’s done mighty fine picture taking!

Very smart advice. Don’t forget not letting anyone handle anything that could cause them to shoot out their eyes!

I can commiserate. For me, muscle spasms in my lower back woke me. That’s what the meds are supposed to take care of, dammit! Now I’m just waiting for the next round of advil and the heating pad to kick in, as well as the melatonin. Times like these, I really could use some of the other gummies! But… not until I can get back to doing deliveries, which won’t be until we get a new vehicle. (Soon, please!)

Thanks, everyone, for the thoughts and prayers for my mom. I’ll keep you posted.

It’s 8 ferrets out right now and according to my weather app “According to my nipples, there is a 99 percent chance of is cold as fuck outside.” Yep, even in the house, I’m agreeing with that. It’s not supposed to get above freezing, so I expect little relief.

I really should put my audio book back on and try to get some sleep. CtE’s class starts at 11:10 and I’ll need to drive her there. Plus I really need to get the van from the garage (so I can use it for trade in) and do some grocery shopping. None of that will happen if I’m too tired to keep my eyes open!

Annie and I are displeased with our breakfasts this morning. Actually, Annie is also displeased with my typing this morning. She’s decided that if she licks my arm enough that it might deter me from typing and cause me to pay 100% attention to her.

It hasn’t worked yet…

I decided to be mature (sigh) and rescheduled my tattoo appointment on Friday. I didn’t feel that it was a good idea to have someone trying to stab me in the arm while dodging coughing fits.

Now I’m going to get to the real task that I’ve been putting off for awhile. I need to find a lawyer to help me see if I can file for disability. I HATE to go through all of this trauma and drama again, but if it can help us out financially and MusicMan wouldn’t have to work so hard, then it’s ultimately worth it.

Trudges off…

Up early for nothing.
Was supposed to train but its -4 without wind chill and I’m not taking bus’s.
This is the first time in decades I’ve stayed inside more than 1 day.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 20 Amurrkin out (feels like 14 ferrets) and clear with a predicted high of 36 and N.O.S. TWPTB say we had six inches of snow, but I don’t think so. The ground is covered in white, however. Needless to say skools are closed today all over the area. We have no plans or want to be anywhere but in da cave and warm Since it looks like French toast outside, Ima make us a breakfast of French toast and bacon in a bit. Why not! We have some raisin and cinnamon bread so that should be tres nummy.

Now I need more caffeine to aid in motivation to cook. I foresee much RDOS inactivities today. We can day drink and watch the snow melt!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

It SNOWED!! At the BEACH!!

Can you wrap your head around it? We’re promised mid-20s today and sun. No clue what we’ll do today, but breakfast first, soon.

Happy Wednesday!

Why should you care? I sure don’t.

It’s five o’clock somewhere, amirite?

I am verklempt.

Ok, I’ve already started working on what I actually need to be doing. WOOHOO! It’s a bit emotional, though, so I’m currently taking a break and probably won’t start again until I get back from the fingerprinting place. I foresee a McDonald’s breakfast to replace the first icky one in my future.

MusicMan is out there in the cold and (thankfully) his truck decided not to work right just as he was pulling out of the yard. So, he pulled back in and they’ve fixed it. He’s going to hopefully be able to shorten his runs today so he might make it home at a decent hour. It’s interesting to me how they can’t keep drivers working for them, but they set themselves up for failure. I mean, it’s mandatory 50ish hour weeks along with occasional mandatory Saturdays. I would think that they’d be able to get more drivers if they had a more life-friendly schedule.

Woke up to a 40 degree swing in temps this morning! It’s a balmy 20F out there.

A light breakfast this morning, then off to the dentist at 0900 to see if they can glue the crown back in. Might as well do a quick stop at the grocery while I’m out, as well.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 5c/41f with no predicted change, and partly cloudy. Weather app has gone quite bonkers and says “Call me crazy, but I think this is a fucking shorts day.” Oh, most definitely not!

That was me this morning, I didn’t want to get up and I didn’t want to come out to work!

He looks very cosy in there. Cherry draped herself over the radiator until she got warm enough, then she stretched her paws out to cool off a bit.

You’re still recovering from surgery, slothage is perfect for that and the carrot snacks will be good for you.

I have seen the pic on the Book of Farces, looks very peaceful too.

Eeek! I am glad you got to watch it from the safety of the back porch, with appropriate beverages.

You have a lot going on, and I’m sorry to hear about your mum. You’re right, you need to take care of yourself too.

We are contracted to work a specific number of hours per week but we’re also on a regular salary. We don’t clock in and out, and we’re no longer required to complete timesheets. I have no idea what hours I work, I know I “do” more work at home because I’m much more productive when it’s quiet, and the office can be noisy on the day when everyone’s in. I am learning to not care quite so much.

I’m sure you will be able to get the other two complaints in without too much bother if the tenant continues in this vein. Sad to say, they don’t seem able to heed a warning and are blatantly lying about what they’ve done - multiple complaints wouldn’t happen over a quiet family dinner and a low-key birthday party.

Yesterday was busy, I logged out of work and made my campus food for the rest of the week, then had a bit of sofa time with Shadow on my lap until I had to move him so I could make myself some dinner. He scrounged as much chicken as he could, then he got back on my lap afterwards until it was time for me to go to bed.

Today’s been busy, I had to go to a departmental meeting this morning and did the minutes - my minion should be doing them but English isn’t her first language and they tend to talk about things that she doesn’t understand so we both took notes and I’ll let her put the final version together from both of ours.

Then I had a short break before I had a meeting with the ADHD Squirrel which mercifully ran to time because she had another meeting to go to afterwards. I’m just about to have some lunch, and then I might be able to do some actual work.

I have heard from my pub friends today and everyone’s in good health so we’re off to the pub later tonight, we just need to decide which one we’re going to. There are a few on our usual rotation, often dependent on parking availability and football fixtures as we need to avoid the supporters’ pubs if there’s a midweek home match.

Morning all. It’s about 10F outside right now and supposed to get to the mid-20’s today, then gradually warm up for the weekend. Another day of forced sloth, might get to the store for a few things but that’ll be it, also need to call and set up my 2-week post-surgery appointment with the Doc, but that should be sufficient for the adulting today.

FCM, not exactly what you planned on for the mini-vacation… I wonder how the weather is back at your home. But enjoy the sloth and the eating anyway.

VanGo, I think the powers-that-be figure you’re smart, tech-saavy, and can figure things out as you go along (at least better than anyone else they could send) so gave you the job; or maybe they are just knuckleheads. Your call.

Sticky Buns, hope the filing works out for you this time.

boo fae, enjoy the pub time.

And need to break my fast and maybe even get things done. Have a good Hump Day all.

Happy Hump Day!

Happy Snow Day to all of you who usually don’t get them!
It’s pretty as long as you don’t have to go out in it.

It is 1, feels like -7, degree outside. The sun is shining, which makes me happy.
Today should be the last day of these obscene temperatures.

I couldn’t take my son to irk last night. The garage door was frozen shut. He’ll probably get a point for calling in and probably won’t get paid for the holiday.
The door finally opened around 1130. He could have gone in late but decided to stay home.
Fortunately, it was stuck from ice at the bottom of the door, not because any of the mechanisms were frozen. We’ll try opening the door from inside the house before going out today.
Next time we have another cold spell like this I’ll consider getting a space heater for the garage.
We now know that we need to open and close the door several times a day when it’s cold like this too. And spray the bottom of the door with silicon spray or WD40.

I don’t worry about booties for the dogs in the snow. They are playing and if they get uncomfortable, they know where the door is. Echo likes to lay on the table, which is metal. I think it would be cold even in the sun, but it’s her favorite spot.
The cows have been out back a lot lately, that gives her something to look at.

The brownie drink sounds really good.

We truly hadn’t plans, apart from going to the Skechers outlet, and lots of hot tub time. FCD brought his laptop and is working on his tank designs. I’m on my tablet.

We had a nice breakfast to start the day and housekeeping brought us towels - we didn’t need the room cleaned. If the sun does come out, maybe we’ll go for a ride. Or not. Who cares - we’ll wing it.

And it’s colder back home than here.

great pictures, fairychatmom and dogbutler.

fcm, the beach in winter is so lovely.

dogbutler, that is a great winter mysterious picture.
