(Old) Another English Autumnal MMP

I should really dedicate my tale to its own thread as there is a lot to relate. I will try to abridge as much as I can. I know big long stories in MMP’s tend to go scanned and I don’t blame anyone, but I digress.

It all started in the summer when I learned that transactions between my bank and my landlord weren’t transacting as I thought. Essentially, I was three months behind on rent and I didn’t even realize it (I know I should have but I had lot going on). Anyway, I arranged a payment plan that saw me plopping down two and a half months rent immediately, and then the rest a month later - along with regular rent payments. I adhered to that payment plan right up until September. I paid my rent a few days late with a late fee, but since I had broken the payment plan they simply denied my check and threatened to evict me.

I talked to the community manager and she said, don’t worry, just move out by the 21st and there will be no eviction. Great I was planning on moving out that day anyway. I had applied for an apartment and the only snag was a rent debt on my record because … they wouldn’t take my money. Two days later I get an eviction notice on my door that says the sheriff has every right to drag my ass out on the 16th. I cannot get a hold of the community manager because, as I learned later, she went on medical leave pretty much the day I talked to her (I hope I gave her a stroke) and she didn’t tell anyone about our conversation. I ended up going into a hearing to contest the eviction – which I lost because even though I made a good case - that there was an agreement that had been broken, that I hadn’t even been in court when they came up with the payment plan, that a representative of the company accepted my rent check, etc … the plan is a plan and renters get the shaft.

Now it turned into my only hope was move out before the end of the month. Right back to where I started – and the new place still couldn’t finalize my application because I still owed that money … that they wouldn’t accept until I moved out.

So basically, instead of renting a UHaul and moving my stuff from one apartment to another, I had to rent a storage space and rent a UHaul to move it all into there and then check into a motel for a week while all my lease paperwork is finalized, then rent another UHaul to get my shit out of storage and into my new apartment. My couch is still in storage … I got everything else.

This is a nice place, though. First time I’ve ever had a refrigerator with side-by-each doors, with ice maker and water dispenser. I even got a ceiling fan and a fake fireplace.
