(Old) Another lost great idea in the MMP

One time while I was a proposal writer I was asked to update some metrics for a graphic, and I Could. Not. Get. The math. Eventually I asked a (cute) technical type to help me: he was very patient while I displayed the comprehension of a pistachio nut, and wound up basically doing it for me. Afterwards I half-jokingly said “I swear I’m good at other things!”

(Both parents were math majors. No one knows what happened to me. If I didn’t look so much like each of them, there could be a believable “switched at birth” theory.)

i’m so sorry. he looked like a really good nurse cat.

purplehorseshoe, non krillic slavic languages make my head hurt. i can not make head or tails out of polish. although i understand it is a phonetic language, i just can’t hear it.

jtc, that is some really wild weather out there. i hope all goes well at your house.

misnomer, i thought about you as i went past the lego store in nyc. really wild builds in there.

i have hit the 3pm wall. just hanging on until 5.

So sorry about your kitty, facherwirrt.

Stay safe, JtC!!

Today my mom and I went north to do some reminiscing about my dad. We had lunch at a restaurant that he loved and did some other odds and ends.

Now I’m just waiting for MusicMan to get home. Then I will distribute to each of us a small bag of Peanut Butter M&Ms which was also a favorite of my father’s. In the meantime Annie is curled up on my lap sound asleep and, I mean, I could get up and do some work, but that would be so mean to wake her up! Right??

Y’all flung a cravin’ on me. I’ll use the breast of the grocery sto’ chicken to do a Waldorf version tomorrow.

Yay! Survival rocks!

I thought of you today when I was in Kroger. I saw copies of Lego magazine on the news rack. I didn’t even know that they published a hard copy version.

More annoyed. :stuck_out_tongue:

Krogered and picked up a few extra things that were on closeout (actual bargains, as they are things that are frequently on my grocery list, rather than some fancy-schmancy truffle oil infused rutabaga fries). Tomorrow, I hit the outlet grocery and meat market to restock the freezer and snack jar.

What I have to say about this is censored.

I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a cast iron wall. I’ve certainly seen copper pot walls and I like them. I have a cast iron skillet; I keep it in the oven. I would like to buy more cast iron but I doubt I’ll be going down I75 through Chattanooga again; it’s too red south of Michigan (Ohio, Kentucky-although they do have a Dem gov, Tennessee, GA, FL)

I also completely, utterly and thoroughly agree.
ps. No need to apologize; you’re just being realistic.

when we returned from Krogering, Hubs looked out the car window at the front of the house and said that he thinks our azaleas (4) are dead. Heck! Love azaleas, particularly very pink ones.
The only flowers currently open in the yard are crocuses and hyacinths. Tulip stems and leaves are up but buds have yet to open.

ooh, ooh, I bet it’s gorgeous.

WOW, this is only April 4 and it’s that hot already!!! I can’t imagine what it’s going to be in mid-July. 120ish???

metal mouse hope you’re able to get a TileGuy so your kitchen can be put back to normal.

poor Muffin; she probably feels like she’s been kidnapped, er catnapped, and is being held in some low security resort-style prison. hopefully Stockholm Syndrome occurs sooner than later. I’m so sorry for both of you.

oopsie great to hear that the new job is working out well.
And Thai sounds good. Maybe tomorrow night. I’m thinking chicken satay.

Concur. There have been times when Bella was draped over my leg asleep and I just stayed on couch for quite awhile since she was so peaceful.

Other than Krogering I’ve been a RDOS today. I was happy to get some used meat at Kroger today-Boneless Beef Sirloin Tip Steak Thin Cut - will make some great sandwiches au jus.

The word ‘equipoise’ was in an article I was just reading. I wondered, 'Whatever happened to @Equipoise ? Looks like the last post was 2023.

Howdy Y’all! Current bear is happy with past bear. Past bear got the yahd irk done this mornin’. Current bear is a little achy and sniffly, however. Future bear may sleep with Ben or Ty tonight.

Chickie salad was OK, but something was missing. Maybe not enough tarragon? Anyway, I ate, then did my bike while watching the latest episode of Death in Paradise. Now FCD and I will watch Inspector Lynley and/or Vera, because that’s our new routine.

Howdy, y’all. I’ve been absent this week, doing lots and settling into my new job at the museum. They must think I’m ok…I was left as the only exhibits/facilities guy for the last hour and a half. Plus I opened by myself.

I just sent my first ever message to a congresscritter asking him to try to stop the defunding of IMLS and other arts and education groups. Just, really, why? is he doing this. He wants a stupid uneducated population? Museums tell the truth, and that’s a problem? If the grants dry up, the museum closes. We have a healthy exhibition rental routine, but that also depends on other museums getting grant money.

I’m scared. I just went through losing a business, don’t want to do it again as an employee.

Lots o stupit crap going on here, got a grumpy letter from the DMV saying I didn’t have insurance on the car. I do. So calls and emails with my agent, I think I’m ok. Text from the bank asking if I had made a purchase of 50 bucks from Subway in Texas. Uhhm, no. Check the online banking, and another 200 in Milwaukee. So fun times there.

So sorry to hear about the cat with the great name, The Great Catsby. Remember the good. It is never easy.

I read too fast and thought you took your pants outside. I’m not British, but I know that means something different over there.

FCM Now I want sloppy joes.

That gave me a giggle. Nice turn of phrase.

@Jack_Batty Sorry to hear about your friend/BIL. That was beautifully written.

I napped. Or I tried my best between the big toe cramp, and somebody running amok on the bed like someone who had washed down a couple of grams of meth with 3 Four Lokos. Watching hockey and having a Cuba Libré, and making Cajun style fish stew for dinner.

They’d hiss at each other for 3 weeks, then I’d get voted off the island [Jeff Probst]The Tribe has spoken[/Jeff Probst]

It was 90 here today(new record). Wednesday’s lows will be in the 30s.

Dinner:

I bought The Missus Zeke’s Sahara Salad:

Romaine lettuce, candied walnuts, dried cranberries, green apple & crumbled gorgonzola, served with a raspberry walnut vinaigrette

I had a Greek salad.

Followed by,

Ultimate Sahara pizza (thin crust, extra sauce, extra cheese, fewer onions):

And some red plonk, of course. Yum.

A hefty offering of onions, green peppers, canadian bacon, pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives & italian sausage on our specialty marinara sauce smothered in mozzarella cheese

Crazy Walz?

It was 89F when I went grocery shopping.

Evening all. The wall is painted and all the furniture is back where it belongs in the great room, so that much at least has returned to normal. Still need to find someone to put the tile back in the floor, it should be a quick and relatively easy job, but it’s not a huge thing. Soccer starts at 8am tomorrow, so will be off to bed early tonight.

boo fae, enjoy the Mayor’s Fest, sounds like fun.

FCM, thanks for the reminder to clean my disposal, I use some commercial tablets instead of baking soda and vinegar.

JtC, stay safe.

cookie , sounds like Sadie is getting more comfortable with all y’all.

shoe, hope the night’s festivities at work were all pleasant.

Oopsie, happy first week Anniversary!! And like you, shopping for clothes is going to 1, maybe 2 stores, getting what I need with a minimum of fuss, and getting out as quickly as possible.

Van Go, glad the job is going well. And fingers crossed that some sense comes to the politicians and the museums can stay open. And at least the bank caught on to the fraudulent charges pretty quick. It’s why I check my accounts every few days on-line.

I lived for 4 years where it reach 50C (122F) almost every day for a couple of months. It is not fun.

flyboy Greek and Sahara salads? Need some Roman Salad to complete the Mediterranean cuisine trip…

OK, still have to work out the substitutions for soccer tomorrow so everyone gets to play as much as possible. Up at 0630 tomorrow, we’ll see how the day goes. Take care all.

There’s the pizza…

Went to a bible study ( not my churches). They had pizza.

Ecclesiastes 9:7-9 ESV

Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do.

Our larger and smaller Egyptian gods spent their morning under their loveseat for maybe ten minutes before the smaller one got bored and started chasing the rain around again. GG just slept.

Yeah, I got so confused that I smoked a nice bud and then started unpacking my needlepoint kits. Hubs spent his time cussing at the interwebz before going out to check and see if the genny would start.

I’ve been there for months already. We are all in this together. If you can, please look at 50501 groups in your area so maybe you can find ways to make a difference in your area. Letters and emails are also being noticed. Mostly by their staff, but we do what we can.

Go you! I hope getting Bailey into the car isn’t too painful for her, I do know how bad hips can be at times.

Oof. Rough day, but ended well. Didn’t sleep well after the emergency vet and losing Catsby. My last student cancelled, which was not that disappointing because I was exhausted and needed to sleep. Got a nice nap (the older cat cuddled with me; I think she’s noticed the emptiness of the house).

Then went to a concert. Voces8 is a top tier British vocal ensemble, and they come here pretty regularly. They also started an education foundation where they work with high schoolers; my wife’s choir is I one of the first they worked with and tonight they got to sing with them. So that was cool.

Now winding down with a beer and hearing to bed soon. 8:30am dress rehearsal for choir #1 tomorrow. Hopefully we don’t float away in the night (oh yeah, it’s rainy).

Well, Mr. Max’s person had bad news. Her daughter and hubs called today to say they don’t want her there. Her PCP told her she needed help and support. She doesn’t know what she’s going to do. She has long-term care insurance, but it’d only cover half of the monthly expenses in an assisted living facility. I don’t know what she’ll do. She insisted on paying me for the last two walks. I’m trying to accept it graciously, but I really don’t feel like I should take anything.

Tomorrow is the march. I’ll let you know how it goes.

My father died before the American Bar Association OK’d TV commercials, but he was adamantly opposed. He said it “cheapened the profession.” Unfortunately, he was among the few attorneys who felt that way.

I"m sure OYKW will understand and won’t even be jealous.

VanGo, you’re an excellent worker, and there are a lot of us on your side in this, if that helps any.

I did look into that, which is why I’m marching tomorrow. I’ve emailed my congressional delegation. If the media ignores us–and there are a LOT of us–I will also contact media outlets. I will not go gently into that bad night. I keep thinking of the guys who died in WWII. They were defending the US as it’s supposed to be. I’ll be damned if they’ll have died in vain.

JtC, I’m glad you, hubs, and Egyptian gods are OK.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 87 and mostly cloudy. Looks like we will have a couple of days where the highs will be upper sixties next week. Weather be weird! No big plans for the day. We might go to the little bar just up the road for burgers and beer. That would be the big excitatement of the day.

Nellie OYKW and I have a three way with Ben or Ty on a frequent basis. Sometimes we invite Mel to sleep with us.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!
