It might have been in the TV series. I have it in my head now that the scene was in colour, and ‘Jonathan’ had just learned the word from The Captain.
I’m a big fan of “Do Big Cats Like” videos but I guess I just assumed that British felines were much too dignified for that sort of nonsense
I started writing to authors and actors in back when I was in grade school. Back then, anyone who was anybody had someone to answer fan mail and send pictures. I still have my treasured autographed pic of Billy Mummy in his “Lost in Space” garb. (I had such a crush, LOL)
I’m the sort who takes replies as encouragement and so grew up knowing that if I wanted to talk to someone the easiest way to get the conversation started was to open my mouth and start talking. Most folks love to talk about their passions, be it writing, acting, digging up rocks or just making bread. Ask and you usually receive
Writers really are the easiest, though. They are not capable of not answering a written letter or email. If you are at a book signing or lecture, asking to talk to them afterwards almost always gets a positive answer as well.
I’ve only lost 9.4% but that is in the last month. Today I sent Hubs to Food Lion to get another five sirloin tip roasts, our freezer meat is probably going to last longer than our onshore stocks.
There you go, proving once again how much smarter you are than me. I allow myself an hour a day of doom/rage and still have get X updates. You really do not want to get sucked into that cesspool.
That’s horrifying, I really hope you didn’t do any damage.
I had them for the first time at Tudor’s. It was a big mistake, now I want them all the time.
It’s warmed up to almost what it was this morning, but the temp is dropping again now. We were under flood warnings this afternoon but are back at watch now.
Thank you. It did me so much good to just be able to sit and hyper-focus on thread and canvas for a couple of hours. I needed to not think for a while and I do feel much better now.
It isn’t nearly as wonky looking as I was afraid but I probably need to finish this before I can take my brace off because I know I’ll be able to tell the difference if I don’t.
When you try a new recipe, do you cut it down a whole lot for just one, or do you take the chance that you will want more later and make the full batch?
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and had a marvelous Sunday brunch. Much tasty comestibles were consumed. One of the desserts was nanner puddin’. Cause I are smart, I made an early trip to the desserts table to ensure I got me some. Another person at our table was disappointed that she waited too late, so I shared my nanner puddin’ with her. I told her that was proof that I loved her. The afternoon was spent in nappage and day drinkin’. We had champagne cause we wanted to be fancy.
The rain and cooler temps are headed our way. Looks like that’s what we will wake up to in the mornin’. Moanday will be a good day to stay inside and dry. Now it’s time to see what’s up on teh intartoobz.
I make a full batch. I do a freezer rotation and tend towards soups, casseroles and stews for that. I just pull out enough for the workweek on Sunday, repeating Sunday’s meal on Tuesday or Wednesday, so I’m not eating a something that wasn’t exactly a home run for five days on end. It works for me.
That’s kinda how we do it. I don’t like to mess with a recipe until I’ve made it once. It is a little easier when I make a flop because there are two of us eating it, so it doesn’t last as long as it does for you.
Have you done your taxes yet? Unpleasant question, I know, but it might be trickier than usual this year. Mrs. Nott, who has an accounting degree, has been working on ours most of the day, with sounds of exasperation and gnashing of teeth. The social security website ran her in circles for a couple hours. To be fair, our situation is further complicated by the fact that the sale of our old house, and the purchase of this one were finalized last year, but still… I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so wrought up over our taxes. She’s not done yet.
Back when she was working on lots of other people’s taxes, under the pressure of unreasonable bosses, that was pretty rough, but not like this.
I’m on board with the Wal-Mart boycott, but it doesn’t change anything. I haven’t been inside a W*M in the last 40 years. They’re at the top of list of labor law criminal firms, and I won’t forgive that.
If you don’t really need to sell off any stocks, just keep them. The current situation won’t last forever, and your patience will be rewarded.
Be well, be safe, and be You.
And a good early evening all. Did my exercising at the gym, the basketball game wasn’t too exciting (S. Carolina looked comatose), but there was soccer and golf on other channels so I was entertained while sweating. Then had 1.5 sammiches for dinner and that will conclude my major eating for the day (snacking, however, may occur…). Still the occasional raindrop falling, but the worst seems to have moved east, so swampy and doggio will get it next.
JtC, just looked at my Edward Jones stuff, my annuities have taken a $4,000 hit each and the my other investment product is down about 3grand; neither is absolutely critical to my livelihood, but still bears watching. And the sewing looks great to my admittedly amateur view.
swampy, it i always good to share your pudding…except if it is chocolate, then it’s Mine, MIne, Mine!!
And sammiches have been et along with some popcorn so my belly is a happy place for now. Have to catch up on my You Tube watching, so take care.
I cleaned, took out the trash and recyclables, and scooped Spot’s box. I even took a nap. Currently having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, and watching Matlock.
Loved him in Babylon 5, too.
The retro fest took up most of yesterday and today. While I wasn’t able to get to the protest, our building was very well represented. A good sized group went down to market street.
Retro fest was a success. We had it at tea time so we could just have light finger food, so good. The display case was a big hit. Speakers were good. In an interesting mpp coincidence, Philadelphia story was shown at 4 pm to close out the fest.
Now I’m slowly getting things ready for tomorrow. The cats are very curious as items are moved.
This is very important advice and I totally agree. But I can say that because I moved most of our money overseas when Kamala lost. It is too late for folks to do now and it would be unwise to start.
Also, are you and the Mrs aware that we are experiencing some really strong EMF solar storms that are messing with the interwebz? Plus the kk has sent his kids to play in the social security computers so there have been issues reported for the last couple of weeks.
I’d guess that the IRS website isn’t very helpful nowadays either.
Thank you, wools are very forgiving, plus it is doing its job. Stitching settles my mind by allowing me to just not think about anything else but thread and needle.
Sharing nanner pudding is a whole different level than sharing boring ol’ chocolate pudding!
I had a senior / blonde moment this afternoon. I gave Nelson a bath and clipped his old flea collar off, intending to put the new one on once he was dry. He did his usual running around commando until dry and time to put both collars back on.
Could I remember where I put the new flea collar? No! It came 3 weeks ago and I put it away, but not in the doggy tub. I looked for it all afternoon because I really didn’t want to shell out another $55 to replace it. As I was brushing my teeth, it came to me. It was in the hall closet with the human meds. Doh! The little guy is now protected.
!!!
How long do they last? Holy cow!!! Clutches pearls and staggers over to the fainting couch.
When I was shopping for an outfit for Dad’s funeral, the salesclerk took pictures of each outfit (about 6 different ones) and I sent them to my daughter as she has much better fashion sense than I do.
I hope that your shopping trip was successful in finding adequate tops for work that you like… Well I’ve now read down another 51 posts and see that you did find both some tops and slacks. Good job. Enjoy wearing them this week.
Heck, one of the sweetest women who I had occasion to work with, passed yesterday from cancer, only 51.
Can’t it be both? I can’t stand pepsi. Like FCM, I’m a coke drinker. If we end up at a non-coke establishment, I’ll drink either an Arnold Palmer or water.
The Meijers somewhat close to Mr. Scribs was very nice when I stopped in there last year.
There were so many very clever signs yesterday. I only took a picture of one and it was of this guy wearing a crown while doing the SigHiel Salute and holding marionette strings with a naked Felon dangling on a stage. The caption was “I said dance! My Little AMUSE-douche”.
Several others were
“Vaginas brought you into this world and
Vaginas will take you out with their votes!”
“If vaginas could shoot bullets, the R’s wouldn’t try to regulate them”
“How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat?”
Well, I’ve finally caught up after reading about 80 posts.
Went to mass at another church rather than our own parish as it was a more convenient time. Afterwards I went to the gardening store and purchased some pansy seeds per my daughter’s request. She was very busy today and didn’t come over until 4pm. But she brought Bella so that was great. First I showed her how to fill the tube planters with the potting soil and plant the seeds so she did that with the rest of them. Then she went outside with Hubs and trimmed the rose of sharon and some other bushes that he wanted trimmed. While all this was going on I made the sloppy joe mixture then took Bella for a walk. When we returned I cooked some brussels sprouts. Both Hubs and daughter pronounced the dinner delicious. Bella was fed her normal kibble then given some cooked hamburger which she promptly hoovered down. After dinner, I gave Bella some rubs then they had to go home.
And so endeth another week in the MMP.
Well, damn.
I had a glass similar to this, only more rounded on the bottom, for 30 years. I had some wine, and wanted some more. I put it on a towel that was on the (stand-alone)dishwasher across from the fridge. I’d gotten a chub of Jimmy Dean’s sausage out of the freezer to thaw, and thought I’d move it to the fridge. I picked it up, and… it was frozen to the towel. When I picked up the sausage, the towel came with it… and my favourite wine glass shattered on the floor.
And the late night final. One more You Tube and off to bed with me.
Lennier: Initiating “getting the hell out of here” maneuver.
rocky, glad things went well.
red, I do the same thing, forget where I put something then it will come to me when I’m doing something else. Of course then I remember every detail of my putting it there…glad Nelson is protected.
flyboy, I mourn the loss of a favorite glass, there are certain things that when they break just seem to affect us more.
And it’s closing in on 11pm, so off to bed I go. Take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
Guessing this a seresto?
Off to bed with me, the back is hurting and more horizontal time is better.
See y’all in the next mump.
Bless your sweet lil’ ol’ heart.
They’re more expensive.
However, I brought home half a metric shitload of sliced tomato that couldn’t keep till Tues, so … man, that quiche I made last time this happened was so good.
Okay, imma buy spinach (healthy! go me!) plus heavy cream (uh, prevents osteoporosis!) and a premade pie crust - the rolled refrigerator kind, the frozen ones are … uh, no thanks.
Ah, one of my favorites.
You iz good. You iz kind.
And here I thought we were friends.
Oh, my goodness. How awful.
Yep, they’re my backup. A bit spendy-er, but definitely a step up.
Someone I knew misheard that one, along the lines of “Scuse me, while I kiss this guy” as
Summary
“How can you have any pussy if you don’t beat your meat?”
Sorry. (Not really.)
{ plays “Taps” unironically }
Sucks when inanimate objects leave us. It shouldn’t matter so much, dammit!
Friday night was not the usual weirdness, because all of it moved to tonight, which is normally a chill day.
Narrator: “It was not chill. At all.”
Imma snuggle Monks (who has already velcro’d himself to my thigh) and possibly get drunk.
Narrator: “Yep. We all knew she was gonna do it.”
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Sorry. I have a couple of glasses I’d hate to lose.

I didn’t have much emotional investment in it. It just had longevity. I had thought from time to time that Bed Bath & Beyond is gone, and I wondered how I’d replace it if it ever broke. Maybe I should take a picture of it and post it on SDMB so Dopers can help me find one. But I never did that. Anyway, the one in the link looks kind of close.
I have three 10-ounce Coca-Cola glasses like these:
Dad bought four of them in the mid- to late-'70s, and one broke in the '80s. They’re in regular rotation. I’d hate to lose them because apparently this style of glass isn’t made anymore.
