Well, then. Between the Mongolia and the cedars, nothing will grow. (There’s about a one-foot strip of the lawn-roll under the cedars that’s dead.) We have cedar chips between the cedars. The bushes are safe, but I’ve warned The Missus about the cedar chips/bark when she plants the Mongolia.
I live alone* and my bathroom door hasn’t been closed since 2022.
*for a value of alone~I’m retained as bipedal, debit card wielding staff to a Siamese. She insists on the door always being open so I can be adequately supervised.
I wouldn’t mind so much if the cats only wanted to supervise, but Abbey insists on belly rubs.
And you don’t like anyone rubbing your belly?
I don’t think anyone has ever rubbed my belly.
Anyway, it’s a bother when I’m trying to attend to business. A cute bother, but nevertheless…
He’d prefer to eliminate the middle-doll and make people suffer in real life. He stalked me, cyber-stalked me, and did all kinds of twisted crap. I’ll spare you the details because they’re pretty upsetting, especially for cat lovers. At one point, my very rational, non-gun-owning siblings wanted me to get a gun to protect myself. I got a taser instead. OK, enough of the creepy stuff.
Eureka! The little informational doo-hickey got stuck in a fuchsia pot, I guess when I checked out. It’s impatiens. My mom used to grow them in California.
I love hummingbirds. One time I was sitting on my balcony with a guy I was dating at the time, and a hummingbird flew between the wrought iron railing and within 4 inches of my knee. I was thrilled!
Can attest. My mother LOVED magnolias and planted a small one in our front yard. It died. (Chicago winters and all.) From then until we moved away, 5 years later, there was a bare spot in the middle of our front lawn.
My mom would have loved it here. If you threw magnolia seeds in the general direction of someone’s yard, a tree would grow and thrive.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 43 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 76 and N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization (I have Verger duty) followed by first Sunday brunch. We shall be redeemed and well-fed. Sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage, and day drinkin’ will take up the rest of the day. Life is a whirlwind here at da cave.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
I forgot what I need to do to link videos directly so this is it.
Sounds like it could be to me?
Hey, Pilot, how’s Mexico?
Welll, some good news here this morning! I booked a picnic pavilion in my hometown and it’s got a lakefront view and it’s relatively inexpensive. My dad loved Hawaii and beaches so we’re going to have a memorial luau! The park is even dog friendly if someone wants to bring their pet.
My big task now is to figure out what to call it. My dad’s first name starts with a B and I’m trying to think of something catchy that still involves the humane society idea. I’m open to ideas…
Awoke too early for church. About to have some water as I seem to be drying out for whatever odd reason.
Then back to nap.
Church doesn’t start til 11.
It’s like one of these and when water sits in it too long, the minerals in the water take up residence on the inside. In this case, it’s probably been close to a year, if not longer, since I did the vinegar thing. Come to think if it, you’d expect us to have crunchy water coming out of the tap…
So, wait - you don’t care that the steamy, shower-y warmth escapes and you then step out into the cold? Are you mad, woman???
OMG, creepy doesn’t even begin to cover it!
On a less creepy note, but still weird - yesterday MIL was napping on the couch, and I swear, she was chasing rabbits in her sleep!!! Her legs were twitching and kicking and flailing all over the place! Then again, maybe she was dreaming she was a Rockette??
Speaking of dreams, last night in my dreamland, I won $967 in Powerball. Oddly specific amount there. In reality, some jerk in Oregon won my jackpot. Unless it was one of you, then you’re my bestest friend!
Not sure what today holds, apart from cleaning the critter fountain and emptying the dishwasher. I’m sure something will happen eventually. Happy Sunday!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. On vacation. Today is the usual cleaning and laundry. Spot is in the sunroom, watching the fuuds fly around.
Now Iguana clean my freezer.
I value my privacy, especially when somebody like to claw at swinging things.
Sounds like you were the victim of a Khan artist.
I also leave the bathroom door ajar.
I have a ceiling heat light, not that it helps after a shower.
Only thing that helps is drying off my upper half.
I’m showered, shampooed, and dressed. I’ve emptied the dishwasher, cleaned the critter fountain, packed up the crap MIL wants to give to her sister, and flushed the monthly septic treatment. I just heard MIL’s Alexa tell her the time - will she stay awake or go back to sleep? We shall see…
Mexico is nice. It’s not warm enough for my tastes as a beach, but boy do the Mexicans know how to fiesta!
As to your party, “Brian’s Barky Barbecue and heavenly Blast-off” sounds pretty good.
You are correct and I got them mixed up. Nevertheless, for someone who just wants to try it, it’s in the freezer.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do meal prep and KP. The usual Sunday chores and a trip to H&R Block plus Kroger (replacing yogurt) on the slate for today.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Morning all. Since I go out to grab the Sunday NY Times in the morning, I have started to make Sunday my Moanday shopping day, which saves me a little effort then. So off to Wal-Mart for Pepsi 2-Liters, Kroger for Red Delicious Apples and Milk, and Publix for the paper since Kroger didn’t have one. Now home and waiting for it to warm up a little more so I can do mowage. I’ve decided to do it early then go over to the Metro Diner for Meatloaf this afternoon. Might work some gym time into it, might not. 57F heading for 75F, if the eclipse was today it would be perfect, but tomorrow is supposed to be cloud-covered.
Like BBBoo, I have neither human or feline/canine residents so I don’t normally close the door, at least all the way. Got talked into a ‘barn door’ for the master bathroom when I remodeled, don’t think I have used it more than twice since I got it 4 year ago.
nellie, so sorry about the nightmares, at least you don’t wake up with it happening to you.
Safe travels and good weather, JtC.
Sari, think you are right on the Chicken dishes, I will have to look for it in the grocery store, that video that Sensei posted looked too much like work to me…
As for the balance, I know nothing about vertigo, but I’d get it checked out. Best wished to Echo and Sah-son. Might want to have him checked for an ulcer or gallstones.
Shoe, hope the chicken was good.
swampy, happy Vergering.
Sticky Buns, on B-word I can think of this morning associated with animals is for a female canine and I do not think that would be appropriate…
FCM, MIL does sound a lot like dogs when they are chasing something in a dream. At least she is getting some exercise.
OK, temperature is nearing 60F, when it gets to about 10am or 65F it’ll be mowage time. Until then I’ll keep internetting. HAve a good Sunday all.
Waves back from Canton, MI. It didn’t freeze last night, did it?? I’m sorry I wasn’t there to get you! I’m ready to not be on vacation anymore.
We all poked around in Older Daughter’s yard yesterday. The young folks went out and rented a rototiller (the sod cutter was too heavy for the three of them to lift) and ripped up some grass to expand the vegetable garden while Mr. L and I stayed in and supervised the cats. And, wonder of wonders, the skittish cat has decided that I’m not a scary monster! He even came and sat on my lap (I unlocked a cheat code by sitting on my daughter’s favorite chair with the Very Fluffy Blanket)!
We spent an hour or so at the CVS clinic yesterday, getting an emergency supply of the blood pressure med Mr. L forgot to pack. We’re also going to have to invest yet more time in finding a supply of his Very Expensive cancer drug, since our local pharmacist found out he can’t get it from their specialty pharmacy. He has enough until the 18th, but we thought we were done sourcing drugs.
Eclipse plans are firming up. The five of us are going to drive to Toledo tomorrow morning and meet up with OD and SIL’s friends, then caravan over into the path of totality. I’m looking forward to it; the woman was Daughter’s college roommate and she introduced her to SIL. She’s a genuinely lovely human being.
flyboy, I’m with you on the buttermilk, but I’d be putting it in baked goods, not on slimy sea creatures.
Coppertone, maybe it’s your thy…hey, stop hitting me!! I had a doctor who always seemed to tell me any symptom was perimenopause. I got nothin’. I hope that tooth starts behaving better.
FCM, if you’d like more practice, I have a freezer that could use some attention…
shoe, I’m sorry your mom is being like that. I’ll second the idea that there are always regrets about relationships; I hope you get to see your dad again, but at this late date your mom isn’t going to change and there’s just not much you can do about it.
VanGo, I’ve been doing physical therapy for sciatica pain since last fall. It’s amazing how much trouble one little nerve can cause!
And now I’m going to vacate the hotel breakfast lounge so they can clean up in peace. I’m at the point in vacation when I really miss having a house with a room I can go be by myself in.
I don’t think it froze, it was in the thirties, but the wind was bone cutting. Baby trees don’t usually notice wind temp, so it’s probably busy growing roots as I type.
I’m not loving this trip. I’m sad about VBC and stressed over the potential move. I would have cancelled, but I’d already invited NF and it would have been rude to back out at the last minute.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/55f with no predicted change, and scattered showers. Weather app says “Every day should be a fucking party. But today it should be an inside fucking party.” Sounds good to me!
Yesterday was mostly a travelling day. We checked out of our hotel on Friday at 2pm and got an Uber to the airport. Spent a few hours lounging in the BA First lounge with absolutely nobody else! We had the whole place to ourselves so the service was amazing. One of the staff came to tell us our flight was ready to board so we went across to the gate and go on the plane almost straight away. It was a very smooth flight although it was relatively short (8hrs) which meant not much sleep for me.
We were half an hour late landing because another flight had a medical emergency and needed to land before everyone else, so we got held back until they were safely on the ground. We got through security very quickly and in the time it took for 'im indoors to try the passport e-gates and then have to see a real person, I had already collected our suitcases. We were on the ground, off the plane, and on a train into London within half an hour!
Train strikes here meant that our booked train back home was cancelled, and we were able to travel on one an hour earlier than planned. We got in on time, straight into a cab and home to see the fuzzbutts! Fed the cats, cleaned the litter trays, had a shower and changed clothes, then summoned another Uber to take us to Mayor’s Fest just in time for the band we really wanted to see! The Travel Gods were definitely smiling on us as we arrived at the venue with five minutes to spare! We knew we’d be tired and jetlagged but it was worth the effort. We stayed for three bands, but left before the last one finished because we just could not stay awake.
The festival continues today at a pub in town, we’re just getting ourselves together and working out how much of it we think is viable. Probably two or three of the later bands, once I’ve finished the first load of laundry.
