Well, we moved the boat, we plugged it in. It tripped the breaker. Dammit. FCD is in the office talking to them. No time to get lunch - it’s 2:30 and we need to get to our house in an hour so Daughter can get Roxy at the bus. So much for a lunch date. Dammit
So your cat’s named “Darkness”?
Awake & up, but not happy about it. I had some impressive sheet lines on my shoulder.
Long Night tonight, not happy about that.
Mgmnt. co. added the last three months’ worth of water & mowing service all at once, due with this month’s rent. REALLY not happy about that.
How can I be working my tail off and still not be sure of how imma pay the electric bill?
Oh, right, the damn car fix. Man, I knew that was gonna screw me, and yup, here we are.
A week from now I’ll be dealing with the parents after a flight that is almost sure to rile up my tummy. They are both extremely anti-alcohol and anti-pot, so my usual crutches are gonna be a dicey proposition.
Sorry, I’m not ezzactly a ball of sunshine today. Though there’s certainly enough of that outside …
That’s a LOT of pizza for a little kitty, I’m glad it all worked out for him.
We aren’t being hit by Helene, it lashed another storm system ahead of itself to give us some beautiful rain. Next week we will get whatever remains of Helene so that’s something nice to look forward to.
Sorry about the dishwasher. Hand washing dishes after getting spoiled by the machine really kinda bites.
Well crap. I sure do hope this isn’t too much more $$$
That is not fair. Will they maybe split it up into payments? It would still hurt, but not as much.
It’s just not right. I’ll bet if you weren’t paying most of your paychecks on rent, you would be able to keep your head above water.
I really hope things get better soon.
There is absolutely no way that this is acceptable. I don’t care if you were a PFC with 6 children, the military should pay well enough that service members don’t need to worry about their children going hungry. Ummm…and now I can feel a very political rant coming on so I’ll just go back to watching the forest move with the wind.
My kids never lacked for essentials. They did wear hand-me-downs a lot, and we had a lot of hamburger helper type meals, but they were clean and fed and schooled. I think they turned out pretty well.
I hope you don’t think my crabbiness about the situation was directed at you. It was not. It was my anger that we can send our young people off to die in other lands but can’t pay them enough to feed their children here at home.
I’m sure you did a great job with your children, there was NO judgement directed at you.
No, no, I got your meaning and I agree completely. It always galled me that my troops had to draw welfare to make ends meet. The old saw that “Uncle Sam didn’t issue you a family in your seabag” got old very quickly. Despite warnings to the contrary, troops were using allowance money to buy things. When the allowances stopped because of deployment, they couldn’t make payments and their paychecks were garnisheed. Additionally, they then had the CO crawling up their asses. Tough to keep morale up in that environment.
we are getting spotty bits of the outer bands of helene. she is hitting quite a few states now. at least she is moving quickly.
looking forward to the weekend with a vacation day on monday. i’ve got a new cart to try out on saturday’s shopping trip. CLAX The Original Transport Mobile Cart, Folding Trolley, 132 lb. Capacity, Green at Tractor Supply Co.
i’ve had my eye on it for quite a bit. it arrived last night (i got it from amazon, not tractor) and it is very to fold and unfold. it will also be handy around the building.
wild times.
Howdy Y’all! Outside of fixin’ and eatin’ sup along with kitchen cleanup, we have done nuttin’ all day. Livin’ our best RDOS lives! 'Twas pleasent out after yestiddy’s storminess, so we sat out on the porch and day drank after nappage. Next up is Netflix, chill, and popcorn! Idleness continues.
I just finished lunch: A Cobb salad from Trader Joe’s. I took the day off, so I ran errands.
to you shoe.
It’s still spitting rain here and now we’re under a flash flood watch. I live on a high point of the neighborhood, so likely won’t be flooded, although my street may become impassable in places.
Chores are done, groceries bought, Nelson cuddled and eating supper (poke chop, corn and a garden salad). After, it will be surfing and playing around in the studio.
Shouldn’t - that’s the problem they were supposed to fix. Their engineer will come over on Moanday and see what he can figure out. Meanwhile…
I’m just about done with the second lap blanket and I’ll finish the first one when my yarn order gets in. In the interim, I’ll probably start #3.
Laundry day has been moved to tomorrow. That’s the big excitement. Rah.
Up from naptime, watching some preseason hockey and having a Boulivardier. We got some heavy rain here, but not much damage. Asheville is pretty much underwater, and a dam may burst.
And not to be alarmist, but Jim Cantore just Tweeted a Tropical Depression map, and the word “Ugh”.
That’s Spot and pieces of chicken.
{{{{shoe}}}}
Looks nifty
At least he’s not fleeing the area.
Fair food didn’t happen because the heavy winds were blowing tents down. We went to Chiefs and had fried chicken livers to make up for it.
While we were waiting for our food to come, a very supersized woman and her equally supersized son were sat behind us. I am fat. Hubs is fat. She was at least twice the size of the two of us together and I honestly had a lot of sympathy for them because they had to be so very uncomfortable.
That is until she started listening to us talk and got offended by Hubs (who was sitting with his back to her and didn’t even know what she looked like) calling Jolene a little piggy-pig because she had inhaled all of her breakfast before pushing GG out of his. She made the effort to push herself upright and yell at us because we were fat shaming our daughter and by extension every fat person in the world.
We were all ?!?!? and didn’t say a word back. Happily the waitress arrived with their appetizers, hot fudge sundae for the young man and a banana split for her, so she sat down to eat. I hope she had room for the two chicken and dumplings dinners she ordered. So yeah, I did get a little judgy about that.
That looks very handy, I’m sure you will use it a bunch. Back in AZ I ordered a utility cart and Hubs disapproved strongly. He scoffed the entire time I was putting it together and complained about storing it.
Once I pointed out how much easier it would be to use the cart to move his 5-gallon vats of beer around, it became HIS cart and I had to beg him to use it to unload groceries, LOL!
It’s raining here again, but we are in a 500 year flood zone so aren’t nearly as concerned as the folks by the river. Now that its dark I can’t really see the rain fall, but I can tell how hard it is falling by watching the traffic on the highway. I love hearing it patter on our metal roof and will miss it when we have another layer of insulation put in the attic. (The world isn’t going to cool down in our life time, we need to make plans with that in mind.)
Exercise this morning with weights about did me in. But we struggled on to hit Costco for a few things. Interesting that three Haagen Dazs ice cream bars are $7.49 at the local grocery, but a box of 15 are $12.50 at Costco. Anyway, I had them pump up my tires as the low tire light came on. The guy mildly chastised me, as all the tires were low. I just stood there meekly, as I know he was right.
A very warm day and a couple more on the way. I think 84 on Sunday, and then it drops into the 60s.
How is Sept. Almost over? I swear it started a week ago.
Racing to the future.
Doritos salad for supper.
Good evening all. Swimming was stroked and my gas tank got filled for $1.79/gallon due to a ton of Krioger points, so that was a nice feeling. Did a little cycling this evening and finished with a Big Bowl O’Sallit, so well-exercised and well-fed. Still raining on and off so I am 99% sure soccer will be called off tomorrow, but the Parks and Recreation folks have confounded me before so I’ll be up early to check.
Legend, best wises to Khoshekh anbd hope the dishwasher gets fixed soon; had to do dishes manually a few months back and concur that it is no fun anymore.
FCM, sorry to hear about more boat trouble, hope the fix will be in soon.
shoe, best wishes, if you need a dollar or two for a short bit, y’all let me know…
rocky, happy carting.
Not. Good.
And it’s after 10:30pm so I think I’ll save some of the You Tube vids for tomorrow and head off to dreamland. See y’all Sattiday.
Yes! I’m very bad at naming pets, so my kids have named both of ours. My daughters being who they are, Roxy is named after a character in “Homestuck” who loves cats and Khoshekh is named after an otherworldly cat that hovers about four feet off the floor of a restroom in “Welcome to Night Vale”. He’s a very black cat, so it works (although he doesn’t hover, probably because all the food he gobbles down keeps him grounded).
shoe, it doesn’t seem like you need more stress on top of the dreaded trip. Maybe you can carry some unobtrusive edibles and sneak a bite now & then?
Sticky_Buns, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the job. Student loan forgiveness and school holidays and summers off could go a long way to making up for low pay!
FCM, the boat electrical issues sound beyond frustrating. If it’s not one thing, it’s another.
I hope everyone can stay warm and dry overnight!
Wow, for all my earlier whining, that wasn’t a bad Long Night. Lotsa football crowd earlier in the night, but nothing crazy, and closing up went smoothly enough.
The two people working the line with me got into it with each other, though, early in the shift. Not sure what the exact deal was, although I know she is touchy about people reaching across her or otherwise getting in her personal space to reach for a needed item, and he … got mad when she bitched him out? I guess?
Keep in mind, back of house is not ezzactly roomy. We all bump into each other; it’s just gonna happen.
All I know is things with them went from “snippy” to in a hurry, and the irony is that both of them have such quiet speaking voices, that anyone ten feet away would have never known anything was happening.
S.M. was standing right there, though, and since she’s good at knowing everything going on in her bizness, she politely involved herself to calm them both down, and things went O.K. from there.
There was a noticeable effort to keep 'em separated
which helped, I’m sure.
Oddly - for probably the 1st time in I don’t know how many months - I never touched a register today. I friggin’ always wind up on the drive-thru … it was unusual enough that the manager even remarked on it.
That is 100% the plan.
