(Old) Autumn Equinox - changing colour in the MMP

It depends. Are you vacating your usual abode?

I’ve been known to do something similar for a quick meal. I generally add a handful of frozen vegetation and sometimes stir in a beaten aig while the soup is still close to boiling

I put on pants and took Nelson for a little drive today to get out of the house. It drizzled all day, so no dog park and h/we do need to get out regularly. Once back in town, we swung through Lowe’s. The folks in the paint / wallpaper area treated both of us: they gave Nelson a big boy milk bone and me a book of wallpaper samples that had been discontinued. I’ve never gotten one before, but there are some patterns in it that will work well for cards and home decor projects. They’re not photo safe, so they’ll stay away from acid lignon free paper that I may use for that, but, hey, free craft supplies.

My fav lunch!

SCORE on the wallpaper samples, I’ll bet you got some fun stuff.

The wind blew our little trash can around (we can only put out 6 bags/boxes a trash pick-up, so Hubs bought a can to hold big garbage bags to fill with household stuff and then tie up to put in the big bin) and while we were cleaning up, we noticed that the place next to us had their gutters twisted up over the roof along with other wind damage.

Hubs texted the number on the “For sale by owner sign” and got a text back from them. The new buyers were out looking around an hour later so that’s probably smart.

The car in the neighbors yard is gone and the yard isn’t ripped up and muddy. The forest has been very noisy today so I suspect that whatever made the dear run for it’s life is still prowling around out there. The screams I’ve been hearing make me think cougar, but there are some pretty loud raptors out there as well.

ETA the most exciting thing. I have finally managed to get Hellfire running on my comp. The first Diablo was amazing, the greatest game ever and then the Hellfire expansion came out. It wasn’t created by the Blizzard designers but it was created in partnership with Blizzard. Except the partnership didn’t end up well.

I loved playing that game, it was mindless monster bashing at it’s best. That was back in 1998.

Comps nowadays are pretty fast and don’t do well with programs that old. I had to figure out which screen resolution to use and where to under-clock my comp to make the game run almost as seamlessly as it did back then.

Once I got my game to the FREE AT LAST BWAHAHAH! part, I saved everything to an external HD and put all of my settings back where they should be. Now I can plug the HD in and let it do all of the slow down things so I can play D1 and get stoned and remember how young we were back then.

Evening all. Well, it has been a day. Left about 12:10pm to make it to my referee assignment at 1:30, figured I had no trouble getting there as I had read the directions…and apparently my reading skills aren’t what they used to be, got lost and thank the spirits I had remembered my cell phone so Google maps showed me the error of my ways and I made it about 5 minutes before game time. Refereed two games (Girls U12 and Girls U10) without protests and with a fair amount of running by yours truly, so it was a successful outing, even if it was 61F and drizzly the whole time. Made it home in good time (figured out where I went wrong) and have just finished my Fettuccine Alfredo for dinner, so feeling good. As I came back home (heading west) the rain got heavier but never to gully-washer proportions, but I think mowage that was planned for tomorrow is going to have to wait a bit.

JtC, glad you were able to keep under control, so many folks wouldn’t have. And sounds like the Fairl was a great change of pace, even if muddy. Hope they got the car out. Deer can be dangerous pedestrians…and I just read your last post, y’all be careful there…

Oopsie, the nice thing about this group is that the people here are real; you could meet them in the ‘real world’ and I suspect they would be pretty much the same. And thanks for sharing your own thoughts, I hope it makes things clear for you when you state them like that.

Sticky Buns, great pic of you getting tongued… And thanks for trusting us Mumpers with your thoughts…

Yeah, have no problems Monday-Tuesday, Wednesday takes some puzzling, Thursday is hard and Friday-Saturday I cuss a lot.

Coppertone, sounds like someone at your building is not helping things.

I know you’ll do us proud!

Go ahead and get it out of your system; we understand. Like one of my favorite quotes goes: “Shared pain is lessened; shared joy is increased.” The MMP tends to prove it.

swampy, glad you could just supervise. And I agree, it’s much easier when you read the directions.

cookie, sorry Daughter had to cancel but probably was for the best.

red, love that Loew’s allows dogs and the local crew are so good with Nelson.

Whew, that was exhausting. Need to browse the internet some and then do some reading prior to bedtime. Have a good one all.

The first 2 anna half quarters were real worrisome but the Mumper support from afar carried us to victory! Thanks everyone~I’ll let you all know when we need to suit up next Saturday, it’s our Homecoming against Rutgers.

Hooray everybody’s teams! Go :football: Big :red_square:!! Go Wolfpack :paw_prints::wolf::paw_prints:!! And keep doing what you’re doing Dawgs!!

Cake has been baked.
Dorito salad will be consumed
Church tomorrow!
And football.

Sounds like something that MusicMan would eat.

JtC, I agree with your thoughts on weight. Intellectually, my brain agrees. The world’s take on this is ridiculous and sometimes exhausting. Just yesterday I was reading some dumb thing about how it’s basically an insult to celebrities to be ‘accused’ of using Ozempic to lose weight. Other than being skinny due to an eating disorder, who the hell cares how you get there??

Well, anyways, we’re back home from the wedding. We didn’t actually stay very long after the ceremony because I was literally in tears because my stupid knee was hurting so bad.

Tomorrow I’m going to set up my art stuff at a store at the mall. Finally! So I’m looking forward to that and hoping that it will actually sell!

It’s not even October yet, and SWMBO turned on the furnace.

MIL would have us fire up the pellet stove even tho it’s high 70s/low 80s during the day. Nope. I hope we can wait till Nov at the earliest.

Crocheting continues. Early bedtime methinks.

I wish our building would turn on the heat. The a/c is still on. Though I never used it, even when it was 90. Way cold on my floor.

I know exactly the kind you mean.

It tends to have a shitload of salt, which is rough on a cat’s kidneys. (They don’t process salt the way we sweaty monkeys do.)

If the price is roughly similar, I’d definitely recommend opting for the food made for that species.

I LOL’d.

Next year, set up a “Pet The Gigantic Kitteh” booth!

G.G. would love the attention, no?

There’s a heavy black market for satin, donchaknow?

So … you fixed it.

(I intensely dislike coconut.)

Oh, what fun! Random free craft supplies are always a fun treat, and since it’s never what you’d usually buy for yourself, I find they often inspire new ideas.

I’m friggin’ whupped. Lay down in my car on my lunch break and straight-up fell asleep. (Watch, if I went to bed now, though, I’d probably just lie there.)
Today was the 1st and only shift this whole week that I didn’t close, and though normally the Early Outs don’t leave until S.M. is done with next week’s schedule, I begged to get the hell outta there.

We were all standing around doing nothing and I’ll get the schedule tomorrow anyway.

Oh, I don’t go into the woods, I listened to Teddy Bears Picnic far too often as a kid. Not to mention my new fear of ticks. I love looking at our woods, but think I’d probably get lost in less than 10 feet anyhow.

Can you see it grow? I can actually tell the difference between today’s lawn and yesterdays. It is so much fun to watch

We are in total agreement about this.

I’m so sorry that you couldn’t stay for the wedding festivities, I’m sure you were missed.

I hope you make lots of money at the mall, is it the big one on the way to St. Albens? I’ve been wanting to go back and look at all the creative and crafty things for a while.

Can you put a small oil filled space heater close to where she sits? They work nicely and don’t get hot enough to burn skin or kitty fur.

That sounds like a tough schedule. I hope you can get some quality sleep tonight.

Only if Jolene was with him. GG is tired of the noise and bother with the workers who have been doing things so he goes into the bedroom so he can be alone. Jolene is new to home improvement bothers and noise so always goes out to greet and supervise. That means that GG must come out and supervise as well, despite all the noise and bother.

All the more for me. Would you like my cooked carrots in exchange?

Not real diamonds, but certainly brings the bling for a reasonable price.

We bought her a small electric blanket when she moved in here and she loved it, but decided it wasn’t appropriate for use in the summer, so she wrapped herself in afghans. I’m sure there was logic in her mind but damned if I know what it is. We’ll be getting that blanket out soon.

She just went back to bed and asked me to turn on her regular electric blanket. So I guess the smaller one in the living room shouldn’t be too far behind.

I should go to bed, too. I will. Eventually.

I saw a doe and a yearling about a mile and a half up the road on the drive today. There was also a murder of crows on the way home.

Oh, yeah, when I first went out to my car on my break I was treated to some unexpected entertainment: someone was feeding the seagulls, and a couple of crows were trying to bully them away (outnumbered at least 5 or 10 to one) so I got to watch a lot of aerial dogfights and interesting feats of agility.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 68 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 87 and partly N.O.S. My DAWGS lost last night so da bear has a sad. I shall recover, however. It was a good game and I stayed up late for me. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I get to plop in a pew. There is a presentation on the icons and stained glass windows in the church at eight-thirty a.m. I want to go listen cause I’m a kinda church nerd. This is a fifth Sunday, thus we will be usin’ Rite 1. I think perhaps OYKW will opt to sit this one out. I like Rite 1 (grew up with it) and like the fact that we do it on fifth Sundays, which means sump’n like three or four times a year. After all that ‘twill be home for a sammich N.O.L., nappage, day drinkin’ and other RDOS inactivities. Any need to feed today will be via forage.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/51f with a predicted high of 13c/55f and cloudy. Weather app feels the need to educate us today, and says “Mammatus clouds get their name from the Latin term for fucking man tits.” So there you have it!

Hurrah! That is such good news

If it’s not helping with the bills, tell it to move out again!

Great idea, and you made a very good choice there

Oopsie one thing I love about the MMP is the lack of judgement, we’re all just people doing our thing, and coming in here to talk about it. Personally, I enjoy the gym but don’t get there as often as I want. Other people don’t like it so much, some people like using the machines but not the free weights, we just go and do what we want to do. Personal trainers are expensive but they have their uses, and once you’ve picked up some knowledge about exercise, you can carry it on yourself or choose not to. If you’re not getting enough benefit from it, there’s no point throwing money at it, right? Maybe find another kind of exercise that you like better

The weekend continues being busy - yesterday I was at the gym for two classes then home to get tidied up and out in time for some lunch in town and then on to a music festival. We skipped the last band of the night because we’re not fond of them but the others more than made up for it, and as far as I’m concerned, the penultimate band should have been headliners. Anyway, we went home, channelled shoe and ordered pizza.

Today we are doing more of the same, the first band’s on at 2pm, there’s been one line-up change that does not fill me with joy but I’ll survive. It’ll be another day of good music, and hopefully catching up with more band friends so it promises to be fun. There may be beer involved but not too much as I have to be up reasonably early on Monday to take Shadow to the vet for his arthritis shot.

I managed to do something to my knee yesterday too, nothing major but I think I twisted something just walking around. It’s clicking when I bend it, and it hurts (but not all the time) so I am hoping it’s just something that will right itself before I need to consider trying to get an appointment with a GP. Those are as rare as rocking horse poo.

Buddy has a vet appointment Monday, too. His previous doctor moved, so he’s going to a different one in the same clinic. I asked for the one who did Allie’s checkup, since the Princess loved her (and Allie is historically not good with strangers). Hopefully, his steroid dose can be lowered again or even stopped, since he’s having some side effect issues, mostly with his moods.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Time for the quarterly mattress flippin’ toothbrush switchin’ filter changing to go with general cleaning. Plus handegg. There is currently a DENSE FOG WARNING

One time the neighbor’s Jack Russell was barking at the crows in the trees and the crows were mocking his barking.

I don’t know what was going on last night - I didn’t go to bed till nearly 11:30 and I know I was still awake after midnight! I did mostly sleep thru, but still only got about 6 hours of sleep.

Part of the reason I was up - I was watching a History Channel series on Prime about Lost Cities. I’m not sure I’ll continue with it. The first one was about the Knights Templar and the accompanying narration seemed a tad more dramatic than one would expect from a documentary. The second one was on Atlantis - it was actually really interesting, but still a tad over-the-top. I’ll give episode 3 a chance and then decide whether I’ll continue or find something else. I like documentaries, but not dramatizations that emphasize the drama.

And a minor freak-out at bedtime. I went to rouse Higgs - she sleeps on the couch till it’s time for her to get in her crate. Last night, she wouldn’t wake up - it took three tries to rouse her as I stood there thinking “Oh, no, not that…!” She was just very soundly asleep. But she’s old and not doing well - I don’t expect her to live much longer. Dammit.

Rain is forecast to start this afternoon and continue on and off thru late Tuesday. The remnants of Helene, I think. I need to get outside and gather up the broken branches that are littering the yard. If they’re solid enough, they’ll go on the wood pile for basement heat. Otherwise, I’ll fling them into the woods to be reclaimed by Mother Nature. And I need to find something in the freezer for supper, plus a quick trip to Food Lion for rye bread.

Just last week, MIL said she was tired of rye bread and raisin bread every morning. So I bought mini plain bagels and cinnamon raisin bagels, plus a box of toaster waffles. I finished off the raisin bread myself because I hate waste and I didn’t want it getting all green and furry. Naturally, she asked for raisin bread that morning, and then for rye. She got the last slice of rye, hence the need for shopping. As for the waffles, since the package hadn’t been opened yet, she didn’t want one. WTF?? I bought it for her - we don’t eat toaster waffles, and apparently neither does she if she has to have the first one out of the package. Could she possibly come up with anything else for me to complain about???

OK, that’s out of my system. Afghan #3 is coming along - two squares are finished, one is about half done. Six more to go. Then I need to edge them all, sew them all together, and edge the entire thing. That’s part of the reason I decided to make really big squares - less sewing-together (the part I dislike the most.) When I get it done, I’ll post a pic of the first 3 for your viewing pleasure.

The light outside suggests it’s overcast - I imagine the weather-guessers are spot on with today’s forecast. But it’s also going to be warm, so not exactly soup weather. On the other hand, I’ve got a bag of russets that beg to be turned into soup… what to do, what to do? I shall await inspiration.

Happy Sunday!
