(Old) Autumn Equinox - changing colour in the MMP

Good morning.

It’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit and cloudy outside. Cloudy skies this morning will turn to partly cloudy skies for the afternoon with a high temperature of 64 degrees Fahrenheit.

I need to knock out the laundry today and fuel up the Jeep since I never left the house yesterday.

FCM, I remember having difficulty waking Polar up a few times in the last month or two before we had to say goodbye. All the same, I hope you have much longer with Higgs than that. Vent away on MiL. We are here for you.

I miss the visits from the same crows. We had regular visitors who would wait for the peanuts, but they didn’t come around so much once we stopped putting them out. Some regulars still like to come feed at the suet and bark butter feeders, though.

Tomorrow is an in-office day, so I’ll leave the house between 4:00 and 4:15 a.m. At least it won’t be raining. Hopefully, I can get out by 2:30, but we’ll see how the day goes.

Other than the laundry and fueling up the Jeep, the day will be spent hanging out with the pups.

We had an earthquake at 2:45 a.m. It was a 4 point something, and the epicenter was about ten miles away. It woke me up, which at least enabled me to get up and open my bedroom window. I had closed it earlier even though it was warm, because our across-the-street neighbor was standing on his driveway talking on his phone at about 80 decibels. Thankfully he was abed by 2:45 so I could finally open the window to get some cool air in.

Today is haircut day, after which I’ll prepare some lamb shoulder chops, baked potatoes, and string beans for lunch. Lately, we’ve been having our main meal of the day at lunchtime, so that I don’t go to bed on a full stomach and incur GERD. Dinner for the past few months is usually a bit of cereal or cheese and crackers, and not much of it.

Our dishwasher has decided to cash in its chips after giving us many years of quiet, faithful service. Mr. brown replaced all the parts most likely to have caused the issue, and it’s still no go. We’d pay for an appliance repairman, but the cost of him would start to approach the cost of just replacing the dishwasher altogether. So we’ve ordered one up and it should be delivered Thursday - I hope. We are going on a vacation starting two days later, and fingers crossed that Home Depot doesn’t faff off the delivery date.

It’s hard to watch them go downhill. Hugs and skritches.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP / Sunday chores / get dinner in the oven. Still drizzly here, so an indoor day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Sometimes during the prime spring/summer months, it is noticeable. Mostly because I’m figuring out how long I can go without mowing…

Morning all. Pills were taken, the Sunday NY Times has been acquired, and in a couple hours I’ll head off to Sunday dinner. Gym work will follow and then sloth into the evening. It’s 64f now heading to 74F and somewhat misty outside, you’d have to be out there awhile to get wet but you wouldn’t stay dry either. So no mowage today.

Need to air up my tires, as usual when the temperature suddenly drops, the pressure loses 3-5 psi (at least according to the on-board computer) and I get a warning light. So that will be done in accordance with the wishes of the machines…

Sticky Buns, hope the knee is feeling better this morning and I am sure the store will be a success.

FCM, with both MIL and Higgs getting older, don’t blame you a bit for stressing. And now you’ve created a taste for cinnamon raisin toast in me, may have to look for it on Moanday… As for the History Channel, most of their programming is overblown IMHO.
Let us know if the series improves.

lucky, been in 1-2 minor earthquakes like that, kinda eerie but hopefully nothing more serious shows up.

shoe, crows are pests and seagulls are cantankerous, so I imagine this isn’t the first clash they’ve had. Hope you got some good rest.

boo fae, glad you have so many choices for music, keep enjoying your weekends. And hope the knee is ok, mine clicks a bit when I get out of bed but then tends to behave itself.

Hope the felines have no issues at the vets.

That could be applied to the management at work…

And now for the Sunday You Tubing. Take care all.

Me too! Coconut is not my friend. Cooked carrots are ok, though.

Nope, just our local mall that is struggling to stay alive. I’m hoping there will be a surge of Christmas business. They do have a Kohl’s and an Ashley Furniture moved in a couple months ago, plus a really yummy pretzel place.

I apologize in advance for what I’m about to say. All I got from that was: Holy Eucharist, Batman!

I am sorry to hear that . Honestly, since Annie came back from being groomed the other day I’ve been worried about her a little bit, too. In spite of the trazadone that I’ve been giving her, she’s been shaking very, very often and sleeping at times that I wouldn’t expect her to. We can just keep on loving them while they’re here with us.

It was a good game and I haz a little sad too. I followed it as closely as I could being in another conference. The Dawgs second half was incredible! I pity the team they play next week.

Isn’t it amazing how much trouble the people are who say “I don’t want to be any trouble?”

I was like that for a long time, too.

Oh, shit!! :open_mouth:

… I love you’re all, “Meh, at least I got to open the window back up!” So casual!

Not … really. I’ve got a low-grade headache since yesterday that just won’t quit, and tummy (and downstream) are iffy at best.

I had some vivid dreams, including an extended guest appearance by G.C. so I guess I did at least slide down into REM sleep.

But it does not feel like enough, and I gotta work open → close today.

So for now, I’m hanging with y’all while Monkey gets some outside time & I try to assimilate lotsa water.

Meh. Buy one and stick it by her chair. Don’t tell her. Turn it on when she’s up and shut it off when she goes back to bed. If she does notice and asks about it, tell her it’s for Higgs.

Yes, I do lie to my mother as well.

I’ve been trying to convince the local crows to hang out in our yard and eat peanuts but so far they’ve been ignoring me. I love Corvids, they are so clever.

Happy Cake Day!

Open the package and throw a waffle out. I hate to sound mean, but you keep acting like you are dealing with the thinking and reasonable adult you have loved all those years. She isn’t and sometimes it is just easier to lie and secretly throw waffles in the garbage than to try to understand what is going on in their minds.

Your MIL sounds so much like Charlie in his final months that its breaking my heart.

I’ve been putting peanuts out at the end of our driveway so the crows can see them from the woods, but no takers so far. Do you think they might be happier if I got a tray feeder and put it out instead?

Check everything you have hanging on the walls. Sharp jolts like that can loosen things. Mom (living next to Fontana, CA) lost a large weight driven clock in the middle of the night and learned the hard way about that.

You make it very hard to love you sometimes!

I also hope your local mall survives. Good luck and make lots of money!!!

It’s been raining off and on today and I’m seeing dropped tree branches from last nights windstorm. None of them landed on homes, but a big one was across the train tracks this morning. A couple of pick-up with train wheels came and a bunch of rather crabby looking men in rain suits got out and cut the branch up into chunks and threw them in the big trailer one of the trucks was pulling and then off they went.

I was planning on swimming today, but I am just not feeling it. Hopefully I’ll get bored in a while and go anyhow, that remains to be seen.

Crashed back out for a bit longer and feel slightly less blurfy - clearly I needed more sleep.

Heading off in a bit to go see what mayhem the Sunday football crowds bring us.

The “peanut butter” sandwich thread has decided for me what lunch to bring today. Just need to slap that sucker together.
Pretty sure any marshmallows lurking in my pantry would be stale as hell, but we have honey packets at work (for the chicken strips, and the roll w/dinners … not the pizza, you heathens) and that should hold me through.

SuntanLotion please come and retrieve from us some of your beloved sunshine, we have quite enough of it here today & it’s just too damn bright out there!

Making green chili stew for dinner today. Such a simple dish to make and perfect for fall. Had to go out for some ingredients, grabbing a pork shoulder from the “boneless shoulder” section. When I went to cut it up, it turned out to be bone-in because some asshole moved it into the wrong section. So lots of waste to deal with. Not only bone, but a huge fat cap that was cleverly hidden on the underside. First world problems, ya know?

Contacted an old friend that I hadn’t heard from in several years. He owns a winery in Walla Walla that puts out a nice red. CAVU Wines, if you’re interested. We were best friends back in high school and lost contact for about 40 years. He says the wine business is declining as boomers die off. Younger people are more interested in fancy cocktails than in good wine, apparently. ::shakes fist at all Gens::

Take care in the coming week.

Its a rainy day here. I think its DeShaun Watson’s fault. Ha!
Took a small nap.
Have some meatballs I brought home from church for supper.

I’m at sticky buns’ table

I’ve worked on a set of Xmas cards today that I began before getting my wallpaper samples. Once I’m done with them, I’ll get the new supply out to play with.

Sunday dinner was poke roast with carrots, small potatoes, onions and mushrooms. 'Twas good!

Howdy Y’all! An interestin’ discussion was had on church icons etc. followed by a wonderful Eucharist. I really, really, like Rite 1. I did jump in to serve as Crucifer as the acolyte who was supposed to is under the weather, bless his heart. He’s great about showin’ up, so if he says he’s sick, he’s sick. I also had some good apple cake after church. The afternoon has been spent in the usual RDOS activities as is our wont. Also, the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow.

BooFae Happy doperversary! Hope the knee is feelin’ better today.

Lucky glad you didn’t get all shook up too badly.

Sticky_Buns I shall, no doubt, at some point in the future utter Holy Eucharist, Batman!

JtC re your question about chikin livers. I am not fancy or fussy. They get soaked in some buttermilk, drained cause excess buttermilk is ick, tossed in a bag with some flour, salt and pepper, shaken, then dropped in the deep fryer which is set at about 325 Amurrkin. They are usually done in about fifteen minutesish. I also do this on the back porch cause I don’t like the smell of it in da cave.

Trying to get to the library site, but I get a message that it’s overwhelmed. I’m guessing it’s an internal glitch, unless all of a sudden on Sunday afternoon, there’s an uncontrolled desire to check out ebooks. MIL is on her last audiobook, tho truth be told, I doubt she remembers anything of the last 3 or 4 books - she sleeps thru most of them. Luckily, there’s a biiiig collection of Mary Higgins Clark available (when the library is accessible) so I’ll be able to get more for her soon (I hope.)

Back to crocheting.

Good tip, and thanks for the recipe.

Swimming didn’t happen so I changed the sheets instead. It’s been sprinkling off and on all day and has been gray and dreary. Just the sort of day to make a cream pie which came out great. I’m really enjoying baking at sea level, not a lot of guessing involved.

Shakes fist in solidarity. Drink more wine, damnit!

Din will be fried braunschweiger and egg samwiches on English muffins inspired by you. The home fries are in the air fryer as I type and I’ll be heading back out to the kitchen in about five minutes.

And a good late afternoon all. Back from the gym and have had sammiches for my evening meal, so just need to keep myself entertained for another 5 hours or so, Got more rain today, so expect soccer will be called off tomorrow, plus the kids are on Fall Break all week so they may have other things going on. 70F today for the high, but due to get back into the 80’s during the coming week.

Not a coconut fancier here, either, have heard if you add lime to the coconut and drink’em both up you get a bellyache…

And that’s all I got for now.

I had a (cold) Braunschweiger sandwich for lunch.

So did I.

Howdy Y’all! I brought my surplice and cassock home after deheathenization cause I decided this mornin’ as I was puttin’ them on it was time for a wash. So into the washer and then dryer they went. Afterward I hung them up on the fancy wooden hanger they live on and hung it all up on the back of the bedroom door on the drunk octopus hanger thingy. So, I am in the livin’ room watchin’ Netflix and OYKW decided he wanted to lie upon the bed and channel surf as he is wont to do. I look up and he’s standin’ there in the surplice and cassock. When asked WTH, he said that he noticed 'em, wondered what he would look like and just HAD to see. He says I pull it off better. He’s a weirdo, but he’s my weirdo.

Things have changed. Back when I still attended, our choir robes were wool or linen (seasonal), as were vestments for the priest, lector, etc They had to go to the cleaners when they got too funky.

After much cussing about a couple of mistakes I had to hide, the set of Xmas cards is done. I used a couple of Xmas tree dies for two and the negatives to make shaker cards for the other two.
