(Old) Autumn Equinox - changing colour in the MMP

ooof day, that is a tough one sahirrnee.

jtc, because of your picture i have john denver singing country roads in my head.

here the trees are starting to go. according to the peeper forcast we should have intense colours this year.

the city has been planting a lot of ash trees. this means many tiny yellow leaves. ginko trees are quite numerous and they go bright yellow with stinky fruit. the yellow does make it look sunny on a cloudy day.

i went to a podiatrist today to deal with the mystery spot on my heel. my theories were; blood blister, cat hooking me with claw, or stepped on something.

there was a tiny spot on my right heel. def. blood, but not a scab, felt like a lump behind it.

and the winner is:

stepped on something! a tiny piece of glass to be exact, and the glass was still in there. the doctor was able to get the glass out and clear the pocket of infection (that was the lump).

good thing i didn’t go with doing my own surgery. the doc, assistant, and i were quite fascinated by the whole thing. there was much oooohing and aaahhhing around the shard. i also have a nail clipping to take to the lab for testing.

it was quite the morning,

If anyone wants to know where my local UPS delivery person is right now, well, He’s not at our house… Yet! But, at any minute for about the last hour or so I could tell you exactly where he was because MusicMan ordered a new laptop and he’s been tracking him as he drives around the city.

I think the interview went well. I am 99% certain that the recruiter had told them that I had never taught online before, but the girl still looked kind of frowny-faced when I told her that I hadn’t. I don’t know. We shall see.

They replaced my broken frames, for free. Yay.
Its raining; unyay.
:eyeglasses::open_umbrella:

Some trees here are changing colour already. (Colour with a U because I’m in Canada.)
I love the colours of the changing leaves.

Even though we moved to N. Indiana, it’s still shorts season here. We went for a pleasant walk around the neighborhood, 63 degrees F. I joked with Mrs. Nott that my walking program is “Walk 'til my legs start to hurt, then go back home.” I updated the line from the old children’s story to, “I think I can…remember what I was doing.”

Afternoon all. Short note since I need to get ready for soccer practice. The swimming pool was open at the gym (the jacuzzi is still out of order) and it wasn’t crowded, so I got my 1.5 miles done and don’t ache too much. Dairy Queen will provide the evening repast. Still near 90F today, but starting to cloud over, so we’ll see it the rain appears tomorrow as predicted.

Get back with y’all this evening.

Hurray!

Well, well… It’s an honour to see you here in the MMP!

I am a bit blah right now. My recruiter figured that we would hear back from that job today and we have not. To be honest, it’s not a job that would thrill me, it’s just a job. So maybe something better will come along instead. Still, something would be nice. Apparently I’m still projecting my fears upon the poodle because even after giving her some Prilosec and her usual anti-anxiety meds, she’s had a gurgly stomach all day.

In other news, did I mention that MusicMan is going back over the road? It’s official, he will leave next Monday. Oh, and fortunately, the new computer has finally arrived, so the UPS man is safe from further stalking.

I feel like I need to take away BIL’s internet access. He called me all in a tizzy because he read something somewhere that e-bikes will require licenses and registrations. I know they do in some states, but not in Maryland. We’ve told him that. We printed out the e-bike laws for Maryland. He’s still all wound up because of something he read somewhere. I’m going to have to go see what’s causing him to lose his mind. Dammit.

I could smack FCD - he told MIL that BIL could petition to get his driver’s license back. WHY would he do that? BIL doesn’t have a vehicle and can’t afford one. And, frankly, he’s terrified of driving around here. He’ll got 10 miles out of his way to avoid a left turn across traffic. He doesn’t need to know that he could get his license again. Dammit. I hope MIL keeps her mouth shut.

I had to order some more yarn to finish the lap robe I started yesterday. I hope I ordered the right colors. It’s hard to tell by looking at the colors on the screen. Tomorrow, I’ll pick up my order at JoAnn’s, and I’ll take samples of the 2 colors I need - if I ordered wrong, maybe I can find the ones I need. I hope. Dammit. Never start a project till you have everything you need.

The boat might get moved tomorrow - there was no one to help FCD today. But if the weather isn’t sucky tomorrow, I’ll drop him off at the boat, then drive to our marina to help him tie up in our slip. As long as it’s not raining. So we’ll see.

Wishing your nephew well.

When I was a kid, my dad had a business account in Middlebury, IN that he delivered to. He always took a cooler with a block of ice to bring home a couple of gallons of butter pecan ice cream from Vic’s Ice Cream. The shop owner was a plain person (Amish or Mennonite) and made the very best ice cream you could imagine. I just looked it up and apparently, the place is still there, but not much other than directions was found.

I initially read this as skittles 'n meatballs.

Good luck on the interview, sticky buns. Annie looks as adorable as usual.

Sounds like you’re in the neck of the woods where I grew up and my dad still lives.

Since you tend to be his tech support, could you set it up with filters as you would a kid?

Irked, came home, got about 3 drops of rain when I turned into the driveway and it stopped before I shut off my car. :frowning: It’s supposed to storm tonight. I hope so because we really need it.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! We had what I am sure will be the last quality cee-mint pond time today. ‘Twas nice as it’s hawt out but the hooomidity is not so bad. We also accomplished nappage and day drinkin’. Sup got fixed and et and the kitchen cleanded up. Looks like the thing floatin’ in the Gulf of Mexico will visit on Thursday. Lots of rain is expected. We shall see. Now I am ready for Netflix, chill, and popcorn.

It’s definitely autumn here: cool and overcast/rainy all week. I’m alright with that, though!

As “first day back at work after a week off” Mondays go, today wasn’t bad at all. I did wind up logging onto both laptops last night, and spent ~90 minutes doing triage/making notes for today. I think that same work would have taken 2-3 hours this morning, though, plus I was ready to catch up with my boss when he was, so I’m glad I did a little prep.

Bailey wound up not being among the stressed Mumpets yesterday: the groomer was supposed to arrive between 2-5pm, and at 5:01 I texted the company. Turns out the client immediately before me fell down her front steps – hard – while going to get her dog from the grooming van! The groomer needed to stay with her until the paramedics arrived, which I completely understood. They rescheduled for Thursday morning.

As for me, I woke up with a very weird painful elbow. It feels quite bruised, as though I’d spent several hours holding something heavy in my hand with my elbow propped on a hard surface or something. When my arm is bent a little it’s not too bad (like when I’m typing), but trying to straighten my arm is painful – and if I forget and go to rest my elbow on my desk, it hurts. I sleep on my stomach, often with my arms up: maybe I slept with my elbow bent and my head on my arm, and didn’t move enough during the night? The pain isn’t where my head would have been, but maybe I messed up a tendon or something by keeping it bent with pressure on it. It’s such a strange part to be in pain without having hit it on something! While I sloth on the couch this evening I’ll apply an ice pack and take some Tylenol (that’s all I’m allowed), and will hope that whatever this is resolves after another night’s sleep.

It’s just about time for dinner and the aforementioned sloth…a small chicken pot pie and some PopSecret Homestyle are sounding pretty good right about now.

In the milliseconds between uploading the picture and copying the link just now, the Imgbb website became unresponsive. I’m not seeing an image at the moment, and clicking the link results in a 404 error, but maybe it’ll be working again by the time I click “reply”/anyone sees this. Anyway, here it is:

https://i.ibb.co/jw88JJP/2024-09-21-Tiffany-Necklace.jpg

It’s not obvious, but it’s a small (1") lowercase “j” (my first initial) in the handwriting of the designer.

I  her/that, too!

That sounds awesome!

When I first got Bailey, I used to daydream about renting an RV for a week and heading to some deserted stretch of beach with her. Unfortunately, by the time she was old enough for such a thing it was apparent that she wasn’t actually that kind of a dog…she would have hated something like that. Ah, well. Maybe I can still do it someday with a future doggy!

What does the second “F” stand for?

(she asks, all wide-eyed and innocent)

Ugh. :people_hugging:

Meh. Do you know how long he’ll be gone?

‘Fu…’ ‘Fellow’.

OMG, first it was CostCo, then Dillard’s, now I’ve been told 3 times in the last hour that I can get scissors sharpened at JoAnn’s. My fault for complaining about my dull scissors - my dull $2 scissors. Yeah, I’ll pay for sharpening that will cost more than replacement.

Ok, I’m chill. I’m good. No need to panic. Same old crap…

I still get bit in the butt that way. Darnit for you.

I have child filters set up on my comp because I got tired of seeing pron when I’m looking for something else. I just checked them and you can also filter by keywords. Websites like twitter or facebook can be blocked but you have to know all of the places someone goes to be able to block everything.

I’d just take his internet access away, but I’m a bitch.

Hurray! I usually went back to stacks of paperwork and about a thousand emails.

Dang about the lady falling, I hope she’s OK.

I also hope that you just slept wrong and your elbow will be fine in the morning.

That’s some primo ice cream, but my absolute fav is Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia. I haven’t had any for a while, I should put it on the shopping list.

“Oh, I don’t need to pay anyone to do it, I just tightened the screw holding the blades together and they work great again!”

(I’ll bet you could get a large pack of replacement scissors at CostCo.)

My mother gave me my stitching scissors almost 40 years ago. She made a frame weight, beaded scissors case and scissors tassel using my favorite colors and I have used the frame weight so much I’ve worn a hole in one corner and the gold plating on the scissor handles is worn off. I’m want to be cremated with them. And some needles in my collar.

There once was a stitcher who wasn’t a very nice person and one day she got run over by a beer truck. When she woke up, she was in a wonderful place with good light and work tables, all of the floss and fabrics and frames and tools she would ever need. She was sure that she was in heaven until she saw that there were no needles.

I went to get my blood drawn this morning and the patient before me passed out. apparently, he’s like Hubs and passes out when he gets stuck with a needle (how the heck these guys get tattoos I have no clue) but unlike hubs, he doesn’t want to lay on a table for a blood draw. Usually they have two people with him, one to draw the blood and the other to push him back in the chair because up until now, he always fell forward or sideways.

Today he went boneless and slipped out of his chair and wanged his head against frame of the chair and then floor.

The vampire said she’s strapping him to the chair next time.

So that meant I would be late for class and I didn’t want to be rude so I came home and smoked a few bowls instead. Then I mopped the kitchen floor. Then I went back to the gym to swim by myself and the pool was closed because the life guard was at lunch.

I was planning on trying to get in the water tomorrow, but Hubs has a couple of folks coming over to talk about cleaning for us. I’ll probably still go, he knows what we want as well as I do.

You sound like Hubs, LOL!!! Jolene has seen the butterflies and thinks they are worth watching as well.

A few weeks ago we wanted to watch The Caine Mutiny. I bought it (and three other ‘themed’ films) on Blu-ay, but hadn’t watched it yet. We put the disc into the Blu-ray player and it loaded… but it wouldn’t play. We ended up watching it on TCM On Demand.

I’ve had a hunch for a while, so I thought I’d experiment just now. I put in another Blu-ray disc. Same issue. I put in a DVD. Same issue. See, at some point Mrs. L.A. spilled her drink (I think it was a Hemingway daiquiri) on the remote control, and the TV remote control. She didn’t wipe them off. I surmised that the DVD/Blu-ray remote control had sticky stuff inside. I tried pouring rubbing alcohol on it (since I couldn’t get inside), but that didn’t work. I’ve ordered a new control. The earliest it will be here is Thursday. (Incidentally, she did eventually wipe off the TV remote with a damp paper towel, a long time (days? more?) later. The TV remote is, and has been working.)

Umm … :open_mouth:

I love how you’re just so casually, like, “Some did not [survive being electrocuted].”

Jeez, and I thought my job had its downsides.

IME the only way to stop them is to overcome whatever obstacle your subconscious is chewing on.

While I am definitely Team Cool’nRainy, I like “unyay” and will be using it henceforth.

Me, too (touo?) and am always happy to see you pop in.

:musical_note: "Every breath you take … " :notes:

… no internet presence?!? I’m shocked.

/s

FCM this is very wise advice.

What, like, ever?!?

I did this once and figured out that - a tummy sleeper like you - I’d hung my arm off the side of the bed, held straight out, palm up.

That kind of pressure for who knows how long on the elbow joint caused me a few days of pain.

You may need to develop a sudden case of noise-canceling earbuds.

Naw, lady. Phish Food.

Discovered that stuff while stoned off my ass my freshman year of college, and probably ate my body weight of it that semester.

It contains calcium, which is good for your teeth & bones, and is therefore healthy.

That’s my story & I’m stickin’ to it.

The new saga in my life now is The White Dress, for this stoopit event in Dallas I’m being flown out to attend accompany my mother.

Of the two that were ordered already, one is hideously shapeless and boxy (and oversized, that is SO not a “M”) and the other, while relatively shapely - as in, there’s a discernable waistline - is a weird pale vaguely bluish-purple not-quite-white. (And, according to my poor horrified dad, very see-thru.)

Absolutely have no idea what that could be. We have no debt, no mortgage, no money issues, no health issues, etc. And these have been occurring for several years. I’d blame the meds I’m taking, but there is only one that even hints about this being a possible side effect.

Costco has a great selection of earbuds, at great prices. Non-members can order them on-line through Costco.com.

This month they have a good deal on a four pack of Fiskars scissors. Definitely not worth paying to have old scissors sharpened.

/snerk

But Cherry Garcia has froot! And cocoNUTs. And sugar cane which is a veggie. It’s practically health food!

(I’ll put Phish Food on the list too. I do want to be objective about this after all!)

Fiskars is an awesome brand, and you are an awesomely hilarious lady.

Man, I like your style!

I’m assuming you’ve had it before, but if not - or if anyone else here hasn’t & likes chawcklit and encounters a pint - you are in for heaven on a spoon.

The 1st time I had it, was one of those “I wish I could go back in time and experience again for the first time” moments.
