I left work at 5pm, the snow was in the light flurry zone. As I waited the snow got more serious. The shuttle was running late due to the road closures starting for the parade. When I got on the shuttle about 5:30, the ground was starting to get wet. By the time we pulled into the building at 6pm, it was starting to accumulate on real ground, cars, and people.
I brought home my laptop just in case, but just now realized I did not bring home anything I can do on it.
The shuttle will not run on Friday. There is no way it could get anywhere. I’m thinking of the easiest ways to get into the office.
It is just one of 15 (but one of my top two favorites). You may have confused me with shoe or someone else who posted a pic of their kitteh. Last I checked, Nelson is still a canine.
{{{nellie}}} May you survive your trip without needing bail money (I’m sure we Mumpers could likely swing it).
Have you ever considered making cornmeal waffles? My dad takes a box of Jiffy cornmeal muffin mix (don’t laugh, he never cooked until about 20 years ago), mix as directed for cornmeal pancakes and put in the waffle iron. Kind of tasty.
Irked, came home, suited Nelson up in his ducky slicker (and me in my rain poncho, not nearly cute as his gear) and walked him before supper.
On the way to irk this morning, just down the street from where I live, I caught a glimpse of movement coming from the right side of the road. I slowed down, then stopped. There were about a dozen deer crossing the road. The car behind me was two of my cow-orkers, so we had to yap about it when we got in. The deer tend to wander between Air Base Trail (a really nice greenway, legacy of the former Sewart Air Base) and Sharp Springs Recreational Area (where the dog park is, about .75 miles as the crow flies) and it’s a wonder that we don’t see one get hit from time to time.
Evening all. Still raining here and looks like it will continue into tomorrow, so not a day for being out…so of course I went out, first to the gym and then a quick stop at Kroger, but am back in the house now and have no plans to be outside again. 47F now and looks like the highs will be in the 50’s range for the foreseeable future.
Pilot, safe travels. I’ll be going through JFK to England in June, flying Virgin Atlantic.
Oopsie, I am simply not ready for baseball yet, just starting to get interested again in basketball and ice hockey, but you do you…
BBBoo, I hope this fixes your dental issues; I have been so lucky in not having any problems (yet) with my teeth.
Oops, and me having given him scritches too… And did the deer have a little doe? Yeah, two bucks!
do not haiku good
Pilot and shoe are better
but I have no snow
I got a letter confirming employment at the museum, pending background check. I’ve been working with the local school dept for going on 15 years, and had fingerprints done about 6-7 years ago.
Howdy Y’all! We were again RDOS sloths. However we did make martinis for day drinkin’, so were productive on that front. Sup was nuked leftovers just to even things out sloth wise.
Nellie hope things are more settled today.
VanGo huzzah!
All you dealin’ with the evil white stuff, better thee than me.
Sounds good. Thursday morning the perio Resident yanks the tooth, then 4 hours later I’m being the volunteer (grand)parent for the first meeting of the K-2nd Builders Club after school. Me, a teacher and 16 supercharged kiddos. Hopefully the anesthesia will have worn off and I won’t be drooling strings of bloody saliva by then.
The Tamiflu worked wonders for Harriet, two doses and she no longer has any fever 24 hours later and looks her perky self. Her mother is less pleased with its side effects for adults but glad she has it for the baby”s sake. I”ll get to sleep at home tonight.
Now the question is whether the cat will forgive me three days absence.
it was a good show but rebooted itself too many times … as Metal Mouse said warehouse 13 was cool …too bad syfy had a policy of nothing longer than 4 or 5 seasons on their original shows back then …Do they even still make original stuff anymore? i know their TV movies wee squeezy cheese fests but beat anything else on Saturdays usually
Spousal Unit absolutely refuses to make a phone call - he prefers to talk to people face to face. Yeah, sometimes you need to do that, but often a 5 minute call will save an hour of driving, not to mention the gas. I don’t say anything any more - it’s as effective as beating my head against the hearth.
OMG - are they related to my late MIL??? She did get recommended shots, but she was always a big believer in saving pills for later, just in case. Made me crazy - and left me with a lot to toss when she died.
Snow is continuing - I’m guessing we have 5-6" so far. I actually opened the back door of the garage to look in the yard. Very very white and pretty deep. If we still had Higgs, we’d have to go out and shovel a small path for her. Stoopit snow.
Daughter told me Roxy has a fever now, so Tobias has shared with at least 2, and I may be next since I was close to both of them for a good long time last night. And FCD may be next after me because we hug and smooch and sleep together and stuff. Glad I just stocked up on tylenol (generic) and motrin (generic) - that should help us handle the symptoms. And we’ve had both flu and covid shots in Sept (or Oct?) so we’re good there.
mmmm - my fave!!!
Anyway, I need to text the plow guy about coming tomorrow after the snow stops. Not that we plan to go anywhere. Oh, and Thursday we’re supposed to maybe hit 60° - did I mention that earlier? Weird weather.
WAG, he might have a lot more hearing loss than he admits to. That’s a classic symptom. Not that they will ever admit it.
Good idea to have some Tylenol and ibuprofen in stock. Glad you both got all your shots, good girl!
The US is having its worst peak of influenza right now. Twice as many cases as a week ago. High fever, bad coughing, malaise! Might be worth getting a test for flu at the drug store because at our age it’s worth talking to the dr if you have the flu so they can decide if Tamiflu is needed since we’re geezers. Tamiflu needs to be started within in 48 hours of flu symptoms starting to be effective. I’m sure glad we had Harriet treated after her fevers started, she did great with the Tamiflu. I’m sold on it.
You can get a dual test kit at drug stores that test for both Covid and influenza with one swab. They cost about $10 around me.
Consider a RSV vax too if you have t already, especially since you and I are around young grandcritters, those little germ factories.
DH hates phone conversations, too, and his hearing’s fine (his listening can leave a bit to be desired).
I usually avoid food-scented lotions, myself, since smelling something like cookies gives me cravings. OTOH, most men don’t want to smell all floral, so there may not be many other options.
moooomm. Yep, you’ve done good, girl! Extra points for getting hubs vaxxed too.
Home now. Snows a flying, frigid winds are blowing in. They’ve already cancelled school for tomorrow.
Been home 20 minutes, the cat has juuuuuust now deigned to climb up on my lap purring. She didn’t come to the door when I came in as she usually does, she had to have her fit of pique first and made me call her by name. She made me work for it before she came sauntering out from whatever pile of clean clothes she’d been sleeping on.
No way I’m going anywhere tomorrow. Nope, not gonna stick my nose out in that winter storm warning. 8’ of snow and temps -8. My frail bones are staying inside tomorrow buffing up my RDOS cred.
