Late afternoon here. Had solo breakfast out early, golf practiced, sheveled, and napped while Her Ladyship slept then worked out herself. Then we mini-grocced and bought a Christmas wreath for our door. Later today we expect to erect the Christmas tree and decorations we got a couple weeks ago.
It was sunny first thing but turned to drizzle as we got home from wreath-buying and is now raining steadily. Still warm: 80/27 right now with the overnight low expected to be 72/22.
Back around 1990 when I was 30-ish & newly married the younger couple next door had a ~2yo. She had worked as a CPA before the kid was born. She said she’d done the math. Day care would consume 100% of her take-home pay, so she saw no reason to work and did the SAHM thing instead.
It’s not a new problem, but it is a significant one.
A swamp cooler is not a good situation in Tucson for sure. I grew up in SoCal through college, lived 1 year in Phoenix, and 10 in Las Vegas. Desert is not my favorite climate, but I’ll take hot over cold any / every day. If 75 is ideal, I’ll happily take 30 extra degrees at 105 before I’ll take 30 too few degrees at 45. And for me personally, 75 is only ideal if the sun is shining and there’s no wind. If either of those is not true, kick it up to 80 and then I’ll be happy … enough.
That could be really interesting or really scary.
Yes, this. It almost makes sense in spots. And the vexation comes through crystal clear, and that’s what really matters.

And now, Buster and Maisie .
Hooray! I can see those two will be no trouble at all. Pure serenity and calm peacefulness shall be yours.

and at 4pm we’re going to the Canadian Brass holiday show (the venue is across the street from the Thai place). I’ve loved brass instruments for as long as I can remember, and 1985’s A Canadian Brass Christmas was one of the first holiday albums I ever bought.
Yaay! That is a fun group. I’d enjoy seeing them again, but we’re some distance from their usual touring haunts.
I mentioned this upthread or last week, but if you’re a brass fan you’re especially likely to enjoy the wonderful and very silly TUBACHRISTMAS.
