(Old) Day Trips planned in the MMP

shoe - I also am impressed with your pizza over prowess! I consider it a major accomplishment when I can time FCD’s toast and bacon so that they’re done at the same time. I don’t even want to think about what you juggle there. Yet another reason I never wanted to work in a food-related field. Bad enough dealing with customers, but ovens and fryers?? No thanks!

Mowage is done, except for the ditch because I didn’t want to mess with it and it’s not too gross… yet. In a little bit, I’ll haul the laundry baskets downstairs and get our unders sloshing away. I should push the rollsuck around the living room, too. Can’t do stuff like that with the grands underfoot.

I’m sorry - I shouldn’t flaunt my exciting lifestyle at all of you. I can feel the envy growing from here.

We discovered the leak Thursday (I think), but it didn’t seem like an ‘emergency’. They couldn’t get the guy out on Friday, so they scheduled for the first thing this morning. Now it’s the afternoon. Maybe. We’re losing a lot of water. Who knows what it’s doing to the house? (At least its Summer, so it might dry fairly quickly.) I’m down south tomorrow. They really need to get out here today.

My allergist suggested I go on Dupixent, a monoclonal antibody injectable. My co-pay would be $2,847. A month. No way Ray. I called Dupixent’s assistance program, and once the doctor’s offices faxes a few forms, I will be eligible to get the drug for ZERO DOLLARS. I started to cry when the case manager told me that.

Hooray for Shoe’s pizza triumph. And in front of the GM no less.

If you can juggle 5 fryers you can juggle 5 ovens. Fryers contents go from start to finish in what, 1 to 3 minutes? While pizzas take WAG from ~5 to ~10 minutes. So each item is both less time critical and the total turnover is slower. it’s juggling beach balls not golf balls. But either way it’s just juggling.

You can do this. We can cheer. And eat whatever you drop or burn.

From yesterday / last thread:

That was not me. All credit to @cincinnatus who was describing his reaction to the fine libation I had described in an earlier post.

Mornin’ all. More like Noonin’ actually.

Was up early, hit the 7-11 for coffee on the way to the beach. Didn’t quite make it there for sunrise but it was close. Had a nice nap in the sand, some swimming, and a bit of walking. But mostly just soaked up radiation.

Wading in the chest deep water I was “attacked” by a couple dozen 6" gray/brown fish cruising along the bottom. They’d hover around my feet and as I’d stir up the bottom walking they’d dart in to eat … something. They’d bump my feet or occasionally try to burrow under them. Kinda odd until you’ve seen / felt it a time or three.

This is sea turtle season and they come ashore to lay eggs in great number. BOth great numbers of turtles and of eggs per turtle. Every day starting as soon as it’s light enough to see the conservation folks cruise the beach in quads looking for fresh nests which they record then rope off so the eggs can mature undisturbed by beachgoers. At least human beachgoers. Saw several fresh tracks of where the turtles had come ashore last night.

Nature. It’s fun stuff.

Anyhow, back home a couple hours later just as Her Ladyship was arising. Shevelment, usual at-home breakfast, laundry, and Doping followed.

Now balconating under clear skies out to sea and puffy clouds inland. NWS says presently 90F/32C on the way to 95F/35C. A nice breeze makes it very comfortable in the shade.

dupixent is a wonder drug. i also have the assistance program. it is wonderful.

the title of this week’s mmp got me thinking i should look into getting somewhere for the eclipse. i’m thinking erie or niagra falls. i can get to both by train (unless i can convince friends to do a road trip).

Flyboy, anyway you can turn the water off to the house? I have an outside spot that I can shut off water to the whole house (been useful with my plumbing leaks and on long vacations). But don’t know how much you need for regular living there, so may not be practical.

I’m very happy for you, wet one, but just another crack in our incredibly messy health system.

That sounds like fun!

Stay dry, Herald.

FCM, yeah, I paid around $750 for new tires several years ago, so that’s not a bad price. And glad FCD is doing better.

OK, need to get ready for the swimming part of the day. Been doing 750 yard/25 minutes, will upgrade to 900 yards/30 minutes today. Take care all.

Yay for you, but dang, that’s just bat-crap crazy!! I don’t understand how drugs are priced, but I’m guessing the executives of the drug companies get substantial bonuses as a result. It’s obscene - we’re not talking luxury goods, we’re talking stuff to keep people alive and well. Dammit!!!

< pant pant pant >

OK, that’s out of my system for the moment. Rollsuck is done. I even emptied the trash can in my car - no small task! Unders are in the washer. Cat box has been scooped. I think I’ve earned some recliner time.

But did you sign up for the FT positions?

Isn’t it interesting that now that fresh veggies are plentiful, the grocery stores are discounting frozen veggies. I imagine that’s why you bought a number of bags, just like I did on Saturday. They’re put away in back of freezer for when fresh is not as available.

nellie Happy Doperverary :cake: :tada:

While it may not be the most pleasant experience, good on 'ya.
What kind of fossils will you be hunting?

shoe very impressed with your new skill acquiring. Juggling all those ovens and fryers while keeping from burning anything or getting burnt yourself is quite an accomplishment.

I’m thinking about driving up to Bay City to see the Northern Lights this Thursday evening since the chances I’ll make it to Alaska is pretty slim.

Folded the laundry that Hubs washed and hung up over the weekend then washed a load of whites and hung them up. We rarely use the dryer, mostly for perm press.

Long walk through the neighborhood with a bud to get to work. They switched us from Microsoft Outlook to Google Gmail over the weekend. Not as user friendly; I had to call IT to find out why I didn’t have access to the group email inbox or why when I scanned documents to myself, they’re ending up in the same email. Eventually we’ll be switched from all Microsoft Aps to Google Aps. Not looking forward to it.

Leaving soon to take Hubs to chemo; last time he had chemo was in Dec. It used to be shots in his belly but I think he’s being switched to IV drip now. Hope the side effects aren’t too harsh.

Well, yeah. I will need to defecate today.

We’ll be looking for ammonites which are abundant where I live. But we’ll also be looking for inoceramus vancouverensis which is a cretaceous bivalve and also teeth and other shells, fossilized wood and cool rocks.

Thanks for sharing.

Any time! :poop:

These weren’t on sale, but I like the bagged mixed veggies for soup. I got some stew beef from the used meat pile, so there’s a big pot of veggie-beef soup in my future.

We’re likely just a tad too far south to see them, but rain is supposed to return Thurs night anyway, naturally. Dammit.

Laundry is done. FCD is home. I’ve got 2 burger patties thawing for supper. Chillage continues.

I just officially canceled the trip to Vegas I had planned for this weekend. “Why?”, you ask. The fact that it is predicted to be cooler in Riyahd Sunday than it is in Las Vegas!

I’ll stay at home, drink bad booze and tear up hundred-dollar bills every couple of hours. Saves me the drive!

I’m curious what a fossilized tattoo looks like. Or are you accusing floaty of being a fossil themselves?

Today my TC friend and I went to New River by way of Black Canyon City so I could point out trailheads and the place to get mining claims. As the I17 is being widened between Phx and the interchange at the junction, we were happy that the speed limit had dropped so we could inspect the progress. Despite being a Phx native who visits family in Phx often, TC friend was amazed when I got off the interstate at New River. She had no idea there was anything out there, it was pretty cute tbh.

She was pretty happy at the dispensary, no waiting and a nice and knowledgeable budista who seemed happy to take as long as she wanted.

I’m not a fan of vaping, but I also know that pot reeks and people notice. It’s a good way to make new friends when you are somewhere that it is legal, not so much in states like Utah (driving through with stops to eat and stretch legs) or Idaho (staying for a week).

My budista and I were trying to figure out how many vape carts I would need compared to my 1/2 oz per week of flower and I mentioned that I would mostly be hanging around with family which motivated him to suggest an extra cart just because. I took his advice!

TC friend got a 30% new customer discount, but traded that for a BOGO deal on her gummies and I got a free 1/8 of flower for bringing her. NF and I will get the same deal when I bring her next week

After I get back from Idaho, we are going to see the meteor crater again because we love driving through that country. I also learned that the Biosphere 2 is doing tours again and I’d kinda like to see that…when it isn’t 115F.

That is great, he must feel so much better now.

Darn kitty! I am obsessive about not leaving dirty knives where one of our idiots could find it and cut their tongue licking it. Yes, they aren’t allowed on the counters or in the sink but of course they get up there when we aren’t looking.

I got an email from Birdmoss saying they were sending Mom an acorn token as a new member gift and it looks like just the sort of thing to brighten her day, so I’m already enjoying this. Thanks again!

Why not both?

Good on you for taking on the ovens and winning shoe! You should be pretty proud of yourself

Now you deserve a raise.

This entire post made me happy. (Cart QUEEN over here.) I’m glad y’all got a good guide.

Buddy doesn’t care if I’m looking when he hops up on the counter (which he’s been told repeatedly is a no-cat zone) or climbs into the cabinets. He’s recently decided that upper cabinets are a good kitty hangout, so had to install latches on those.

That’s why I bring friends there when nobody likes driving through the construction zone and the one in PV is closer. Everyone that works in New River seems to genuinely enjoy their job and want to sell us what we really want instead of what is fast and/or profitable.

The single dispensary in all of Prescott Valley is of course always packed with full parking lot and lines out the building. My day trips are much more fun!

GG wasn’t impressed with the spray bottle until I put some lemon juice in it. Not enough to sting eyes, but enough to smell. I haven’t seen him on the counters for quite some time…but I do hear him hitting the floor when he hears us coming.

I worry about spray bottles, since with my luck, I’d hit something that can’t tolerate being sprayed, such as electronics or power outlets.
