happy birthday Boofay
Happy BooFae Day!!!
This is a biggie in this county, and coincidentally, it will be celebrated at a festival later this month. If anyone cares… ![]()
Today is starting with 41 Ferrets on the way to the upper 60s. It’s foggy again with a chance of rain this morning and possibly more tomorrow, but we may actually see big ball of fire in sky come Moanday. Or not. Who knows.
Also today, we’ll be taking lead ingots to the boat. When the old fuel tanks were removed and the new smaller, lighter ones installed, we came up about 400# short on weight. So we’ll replace the weight with ballast tucked in where we can. The “fun” part will be hauling the ingots from the car to the boat. We can’t load them all into the plastic dock carts so it’ll take 2 or 3 trips. Then we need to pass them from the pier to the boat without dropping them in the water. So good times ahead.
No other plans for the day so far. I think I’ll stick a hunk o’ chuck in the slow cooker while we’re gone since I don’t know if we’ll get home in time too make the pot roast on the stove. Which means the veggies will likely be cooked on the stove in liquid from the crock. Or I can wait till tomorrow. Decisions, decisions…
For now, tho, it’s morning surfage followed by shower.
Happy Saturday!!
A joyous Saturday to all of you! Here in Elkhart, it’s 61 ferrets, and raining. The weather seers say we’ll get 3 more ferrets later today.
FCMom, your lead ingots project sounds like a whole lotta work. Yike!
Good morning.
It’s 48F, cloudy, and damp. The forecast calls for cloudy skies all day with a high of 55F. There is also a very small chance of rain throughout the day.
Happy, happy birthday, BooFae!
Cookie, I’m sorry about your Home acquaintance.
FCM, that project sounds like a heavy lift.
I hope all goes well with it.
Buster and Maisie seem to do okay when we leave the house for a bit, but every once in a while, we come home to a stuffy demise. The day before, the porcupine had its innards spread all over the house. This is usually Maisie’s doing. However, they are delirious with joy when they see us. My first lab, Cap’n, would moan and howl at us for a time when we got home. He’d really let us know how unhappy he was that we had been gone. I can’t believe he’s been gone for so many years.
Doggio, I’m glad the trip home was mostly uneventful, and the Roomie is home and (hopefully) resting comfortably.
My son looked at a couple more houses yesterday. It seems one was pretty nice, but there was too much road noise at the other. They were supposed to look at a couple more, but that didn’t happen.
Well, I suppose I should get another cup of coffee and start the day. You all take care of yourselves.
Ditto! ![]()
I had never seen a long arm machine in use before. Interesting process.
Happy birthday boofae! ![]()
I’m sorry about your fellow resident, cookie.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I need to do towels today, but after that, RDOS.
I awoke to a notification that there was a Jungle package delivered. Shoot, I just put this order in about 2000 yesterday and it was waiting at my door at 0730. Nelson will be happy, since it included his dental sticks. He gets one of those as a bedtime treat.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Well, forgot to mention I survived youth soccer, we had 4 coaches for about 32 6-year olds so we barely held our own, but the boys seemed to enjoy things. Then dined and slept and am back up on Sattiday morning. Signed up to referee a soccer game about 25 miles down the road today since no one else seemed to want to and it’s on my route to the store I do my Braunschweiger run to, so two birds… Of course there is rain expected this afternoon, so hope to get the game in before the tunder-boomers show up. Will be spending the morning around the house, might even clean some stuff up, ya never know…
FCM, not a fish eater, so I’d take the bowl of wheat chex, but to each their own tastes.
JtC, hope the Tombies enjoy the toast. And sounds like the drink community there fits you well. And good point on listing all the accounts, I think I did that this past year but need to look it up/update it. And good in helping Mom out.
Coppertone, hope the warm weather sticks around since the heat people apparently don’t.
Mollie, I expect the roller coaster has a few more hills in it, but we’ll be riding it with you.
doggio, glad the trip home wasn’t too bad and Spot wasn’t too upset…
boo fae, a most happy celebration of another orbit around the Sun. Enjoy the Bradford trip.
Hippie, quite a layout and hope it comes out looking great (I know it will).
FCM, happy ballasting!
And that’s all for now. Have a good Sattiday all.
We put 300# of lead under the platform holding the generator. On the drive home, we discussed how to hold them all in place. FCD wants to use Great Stuff but I think that’s a Very Bad Idea. It’s an insulator and a space filler, not an adhesive. Plus as it ages, it crumbles. So the conversation goes on.
Daughter and her crew are enroute - it’s a dreary day and the grands can play and/or watch TV in the basement. I’ve gotten a fire started to take the chill off down there. And I somehow suspect we’ll be feeding them supper - FCD has suggested fried chicken. So pot roast has been moved to tomorrow.
Just heard car doors slam - they’re heeeeeere!!
Mrs Magill was way tired last night and fell asleep at about 8:30, leaving me to put Chloé in her crate. It takes her a while to wind down if her Primary Human doesn’t put her up for the night. As they say, “Early to bed - early to rise,” **Mrs Magill ** was up at 5, asking me whether I was going to walk. I reminded her that it’s Saturday and turned over. “Not so fast,” my bladder said, so I attended to that, pausing on the way back to bed to put on my glasses and check my watch, just in case I was wrong.
Laundry is now sorted and being processed, walks have been had, and fasts have been broken. It’s time for animal beauty day. Let me tell you, the rabbit and dog are thrilled.
Happy birthday boofae! ![]()
Exactly. My aunt didn’t talk to.my father for years after my Granddaddy died. I think he still regrets she died just as they were beginning to reconcile.
Thank you, everyone. I think I’ve come to accept my situation.
Mrs Magill"s parents are coming this evening for a couple of days. Dinner tonight will be penne ala vodka.
A skiff of snow on the ground this morning. I’m guessing it was pretty icy last night, but everything is moving along smartly at 1100, and we’re looking at 60s in la mañana for the daughter’s visit.
I’ll be doing some cooking today, first to put together the lumpia filling, and then later today for a dinner of herb-marinated chicken, pounded into a cutlet and breaded/fried (yes, you heard me: I’ll be pounding my chicken later today). Roasted butternut squash on the side.
Sadie’s order of kibble didn’t show up yesterday. The shipper (Chewy) said “delivery attempted”. I have to call “foul” on that one. This is a 15 story building sitting next to one of the busier streets in the city and on the fringe of a very wealthy neighborhood. There is no way they could have missed it. Now they must face the wrath of Sadie if they don’t get it here today.
An oddly non chaotic Saturday. Although Home Depot had 2 boxes of smashed marble tile, a snapped 5foot by 3" by 1/4" wood trim, and a hemlock 4x4 that was packed with…a piece of Saran Wrap. : headdesk :
Nice.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOOFAE!!!
![]()
He has tried a couple of disembowelments this afternoon.
I’m Catholic, and I love fish.
moving around. which is good.
Does anyone know what ‘FILL IT!’ means? A friend shared a meme indicating that Internet searches related to Jeffrey Epstein have dropped 95% since Trump started the war. Another meme says, ‘Turn on your vpn. Go look up what’s really happening. In the Middle East. Iran is whooping ass. Yikes.’ There’s an article shared from ‘The Other 98%’ about Republicans behaving badly.
In each case, (and others) she comments ‘FILL IT!’ I’m not hip enough to keep up with the new lingo, and I just don’t know what ‘FILL IT!’ means.
It’s apparently too hip for Google. I’ve never encountered it - maybe your friend is just weird??
Yeah, I tried that first.
Well, she’s an actual rock star, so…
Afternoon all. Back from refereeing soccer, game went well and the rain didn’t kick in until I was 3 miles from home, but I tell you truth it stormed some then. Still hearing thunder in the distance and rain will be on and off until after 9pm, so good thing I got my outside duties done early. Will spend the balance of the night indoors.
Oh, and got caught by the girl scouts at a store, ended up with two boxes of Adventurefuls so now I have to discipline myself regarding cookie consumption (only eaten five so far today…).
FCM, glad to hear you have got the lead out…enjoy the kids and the chicken.
Mollie, 5am and my bladder are old pals.
Cookie, hope Sadie’s goodie arrived today.
doggio, I am also (a lapsed) Cat-Lick, and have always hated fish, for reasons I cannot explain. Firdays of lent meant a lot of cheese sammiches for me.
flyboy, never heard that response before either.
And probably time to start considering my Big Bowl O’Pasta for the evening repast, so take care (and stay dry) all.
Hey everyone, it looks like we all had days.
I spent far too much time out on the front porch watching the forest. The Spite House has a huge magnolia that is almost in full bloom, so that took some extra watching.
While we were out yesterday, I noticed that almost everyone had daffodils sprouting or blooming but us. We would have had them too if the deer hadn’t a pulled them all up and ate them. Stoopid deer.
It got pretty warm today, almost 80F, so Hubs washed his grubby motorcycle. Then a storm blew in and it got all water splattered again. The carport has two open walls and two closed. Of course the wind was blowing in the direction of the open wall.
Currently the windows are open and we are all enjoying airing the house out.
I saw the possum digging around in our front yard this morning which upset me until a noisy truck came by and possum ran in the other direction and hid under hub’s car. I like that it is afraid of the noise and hope that will keep it out of the street. The grapes were gone when I checked so I put some more out along with a big pile of bird seed.
I hope you had the happiest of birthdays, BooFae and that cake was involved!
I can’t see how you could possibly fail, this is your journey and no matter how you walk it, you will win.
Hmmmm, I must have misremembered, I’m sorry. Do you have a bit of open area to walk Nelson or have you two taken up walking the streets at night?
I’ll bet your home will be much more peaceful after everyone has had some rest and I hope roomie is remembering that they sent her home with the good stuff.
This is why I made Mom write EVERYTHING down. I know I’m going to be a mess, and won’t be willing to try to do postmortem mind reading.
I hope you have a great time in Bradford but if that’s where those horrible pear trees came from…please burn it to the ground and salt the earth.
It came out fantastic. Of course I had no doubts ![]()
Once you have your samwich stretched and rolled up on the bars, do you do anything else or does the machine move your quilt while as it works?
How much does one of those machines cost? I know they can’t be cheap, just the work area looks fairly pricey.
Are you looking at houses online for him? That would be a lovely excuse to judge kitchens. Hmmm, 2 million dollar house with those cabinets? Hard pass!
It all went away in a few hours
They have store bought white and wheat bread available, everyone likes home baked bread better…even if it isn’t that great sometimes. The loaf I have resting now is stuffed with roasted garlic and grated parm, so hopefully it will be better.
Man, your life is just so glamorous! No wonder everyone wants to be you!!!
I hope you had a great visit with the grands. And that they left early enough for you to relax a little before bed.
Gasps and clutches pearls!
I hope Sadie’s crunchy fud shows up before her bowl gets empty. That would be unacceptable!
You are just recovering from your travels so it didn’t seem that bad in comparison.
Ex-catholic and I also love seafood in almost all forms.
Does it help if you bury them in the freezer? Out of sight, out of mind?
Howdy Y’all! I did actually leave da cave today. I picked up a ‘script refill at the pharmacy. I was gone for all of half an hour. Lunch and nappage were needed to revive me. OYKW made his casserole abomination and will eat it over the next three days. I guess one does what one must when one has a gnawin’ and a cravin’. Sup got made and et with leftovers for tomorrow so win-win there. All the clocks that need to be manually reset have been, even the vehicle clocks. I did what I do twice a year, which is sit in my vehicle for a few minutes until I remember how to change the clock. I am goin’ to bed at pretend (for tonight) ten o’clock hopin’ I will fill somewhat human wakin’ up at tomorrow’s real six a.m. I am servin’ at both services tomorrow, plus holdin’ an Acolyte trainin’ after the second service. Should be ummm.. fun?
Kitty kibble kame kwikly! Kat krows!
Got the lumpia mix put together, but it really wore me out. Dinner chicken got a little too crispy on one side, but was still edible. The butternut was good.
We had cornmeal pancakes this morning which were, as always, freaking awesome. We haven’t had them for quite awhile - syrup, you know - so it was a nice treat. Even better, I got to make three big messes today for the wife to clean up. Score!
It became pizza, tho SIL had buffalo wings, too. It was a nice visit and they’ve gone home, so it’s blissfully quiet.
I need to go check the basement. SIL supposedly helped the kids clean up, but their notion of clean doesn’t always match mine. I refilled my morning and night med caddies. I need to contact my doc about my cholesterol meds. And I need to restock my Vit B, I think. Can’t recall why I’m taking it.
OK, time for evening apple and crocheting in front of TV.
But you’re eating cookies for a cause!
My last apartment had the patio and sucky AC. I do have a courtyard in the quad to take him out. We’re still looking for a good dog park though so’s he can go out off leash.
Have you tried the French fried onions like folks put on green bean casserole? My mom used to make Shepherd’s bread that had those in them. She made it in a cast iron Dutch oven.
I just leave the car’s clock on whatever time it is whenever the battery has been disconnected and the shop resets it.
It’s storming here. A couple of thunder claps got Nelson barking and I wonder if we’ll have to suit up for our bedtime walk. Towels are done, folded and put away. I decided to try to fold them as I pulled them out of the dryer and put them away, since the linen closet is right beside the W/D. It worked well.
