(Old) Digging things up in the MMP

Find a reputable broker. Those are the prices that I was looking at when I retired, but a friend recommended the broker that her disabled son used. Right now, I pay $42 a month for decent health insurance.

Supposedly, the State of Washington is a reputable broker.

That’s basically how it is. All his assets will be divided into thirds and we each get a third.

This was an exciting afternoon. We leave the front door open with the screen door closed, so we can get a breeze going through the house, and Chloé started going apeshit. There was a strange dog on our porch. Mrs Magill was able to get a number off his tags, and we were able to get him reunited with his owners post haste. Newman enjoyed meeting Chloé, and since they were both good puppies, they both got treats.

what a cute pupper. i’m sure his people were very happy y’all found him.

Well done, Mollie. Newman looks like a happy dog, imagine his owners were happy to be reunited with him.

Cookie, sorry about the acquaintance passing, sounds like she lived the best life she could and didn’t look back.

Flyboy, I pay $298/Month Medicare and$290/Month Blue Cross, but they are US Government plans with large numbers of people on them, so I get a lower rate. Hope red’s suggestion can help.

Gym was gymed, I have confirmed an appoitment for Tuesday for the Leak Detection and the electrical guy will be here between 8-9am Monday, so lots of stuff has been arranged.

And in about 30 minutes I’ll be leaving for soccer time with the 6 year olds, if I should survive I’ll drop a late night final in here…

I think the storefront next to the Chinese restaurant in Leonardtown is cursed. It was Pizza Hut for a while. Then Pizza Boli moved in - I don’t think it lasted a year. A couple-three months ago, Little Caesar moved in. Today, I saw a Going Out Of Business sign at Pizza Pizza. I guess they can’t compete with Dominos and Papa John’s. In fact, I think Dominos triggered the demise of Pizza Hut.

I had a yummy seared tuna steak for supper. FCD had a bowl of wheat chex - he said his stomach is bothering him. Honestly, I could eat tuna steak 3 or 4 times a week - me lurves it!!!

Kitchen is more or less tidied. Dishwasher is sloshing away. I had 4 loads of laundry and it was all done before 3 - not bad since I got a late start. Now I think I shall prep for an evening of crocheting and I’ll continue the series I’m watching on Lillie Langtry. Not sure how many episodes are left, but I may well finish it tonight. Thus is life at FairyChatEstate.

Hey everyone, I hope your days were good.

I’ve been experimenting with things to put in bread and this morning’s bake included far too much raw garlic. (yes, it is indeed possible to have too much garlic) I was going to toss it but Hubs reminded me that the Tombies (they don’t want brains, they want toast) at the old folks home might not be able to taste it anyhow. I’ve gotten in the habit of taking three or four sliced loaves over a week, it lets me play and not waste food. I should put up a sign saying that I don’t bake as much when it is warm.

As soon as James put a slice in the toaster, doors started opening. I’m not sure if it was because they smelled it or saw me coming in with my bread bag, but they were all lined up for GARLIC toast and fresh butter by the time we left.

James wasn’t feeling well today so we had a short shopping outing and then I took him to Tudor’s for biskits and sausage gravy.

When I got home, Hubs told me that he felt left out because he also wanted Mexican and could smell the tacos on my breath last night. :joy:

He also wanted to go to the distillery, it appears that beer is pretty much off the menu for the rest of his life (drinking beer is the number one way to bring on a gout attack) so he wanted some sipping shine.

I thought I would like something bright for summer sipping, but also remembered that Mrs Hatfield likes tiramisu, so I took her one of my flavored coffee pods and suggested adding some cream for the sweet and a shot of her tiramisu shine for added oomph. She thinks I am a pretty smart cookie and planned to try it as soon as they closed the store for the day.

I wanted a Sangria slushy but the nozzle was frozen up, so she sold me a frozen pouch instead. She said the booze board nixed selling them in the store because people might drink them on the way home, so she had them in the back freezer because she didn’t want to throw them away.

After a big of taste testing, I turned down her new lemonade shine for the watermelon flavored shine. The lemonade wasn’t tart enough for me.

I drank most of the slushy on the way to the Mexican place and had a mongo Margarita. Now I’m comfortably numb.

The Hatfields are making wine now and the Mrs promised me a handful of green grapes anytime I’m there and they are in season. She agrees that possums are good to have in the garden because they also eat snails.

Mollie, you are good people to help rescue that silly puppers. I’ll bet its people were really happy to have him show up at your doorstep, many people would have just shooed him off.

As the executor of Mom’s will, may I suggest that whoever is in charge of the parents estates find out where all of the money is now. Get the routing numbers if possible. Banks don’t contact people about inactive accounts, they just wait for the required amount of time and close the accounts and take the money.

If the executor doesn’t know that the dearly dead has a 300.00 xmas account with BOA, BOA will just rub their hands together and take it as soon as they can.

They look at total household income.

Be sure and pack food for your orientation, I’m pretty sure you won’t have time to go out and get something during your half hour lunch break.

I hope the drive isn’t horrible, usually traffic is pretty easy that time of the morning.

Does she cuddle up with you? Or is she just happy that you are in her den where you belong? Feel better soon!

Good on you, your body will appreciate it! Dang about the death, I hope her not complaining meant no pain, not just stoicism.

Grocery shopping has become such a shock every day. Last week I bought someone three oranges because she didn’t have enough money to pay for everything she needed and was going to put them back.

Does Nelson help mop? George always disappears into the bedroom when I fill the mop bucket, but Jolene thinks it is play time and when that’s done, it is swishy-tail cat-walk through the middle of the wet floor time.

And off with me, I promised myself that I would clean the windows in my car in and out and now it is starting to get dark. TTYL, stay out of trouble!

It’s nice that Chloe got to meet a new friend. Newman is a cute pupper.

My floors are 100% tile, so everything has to be mopped. When I use the steam mop, he treats it like he used to treat the vacuum cleaner: barks at it initially, then just goes to his bed for a nap. When I use the mop bucket, he has to have a sniff before naptime. Since I end the mopping at the recliner, he jumps in my lap when I’m done and we’re waiting for the floors to dry.

Second load is in the dryer. It only takes 24 minutes for a wash cycle unless something is really grubby, but the dryer takes 1.5-2 hours to dry, given that it runs on 110 instead of 220. I just deal and when it’s cooler outside, it warms the place up some.

Tunafish on toast and a nice garden salad for supper. It’s a little comical that among Sis, me, BIL and BIL’s bestie, we have 2 lapsed Catholics and 2 Catholic raised heathens. We all still do the fish on Friday during Lent.

I don’t think she had any feeling down south. She was very frail when we got here three years ago, her arms just skin and bones. But she was quite active, coming to exercise classes and doing what she was able, and running a weekly discussion of current events in the news and working on the monthly newsletter. I suspect that perhaps infection set in and couldn’t be dealt with, or perhaps a blood clot.

Howdy Y’all! I did the church things and did the Stations of The Cross. I also had a nice general chitchat with Priest. Even though we are of way different generations, we have some good talks. I told him that I really respect the fact that he wants to try different ways of doin’ things and even new (to us) things. He is also willin’ to admit when a thing doesn’t go the way expected and is not upset if the thing doesn’t work out. I remembered that Newk’s does good fish tacos, so I used their app (look at me bein’ all techie techie!) and ordered some after SOTC and picked ‘em up on the way back to da cave. OYKW was happy cause he really likes fish tacos.

doggio glad roomie’s surgery went well. Yeah, great about no one botherin’ to tell y’all she was in a room.

Coppertone hope the heat folks showed up so your whole day wasn’t wasted.

MOOOOOOM GMTA! I am doin’ a pot roast tomorrow for sup for two nights.

VanGo hope your back feels better soonest. I am sure Ms Peach is providin’ the very best of care.

Mollie what a handsome visitor y’all have this afternoon! Glad he got reunited with his family quickly.

JtC I feel I must now investigate sippin’ ‘shine. It sounds to me like sump’n to enjoy at the cee-mint pond. I always smile when you mention takin’ stuff to the home. I bet you are by far the most popular visitor.

red Fish on Firday is not exactly a Whiskypalian thing, but we always do it durin’ Lent. It just feels wrong not to.

Cookie sorry about the death of your acquaintance. Sounds like an active life for someone in her circumstances.

No show from the heat people. It was 64 out too. Tomorrow it rains.

Squeaky had to begin training for his new job at Whataburger tonight, so Mrs Magill and I ordered in some sushi.

Earlier, I had to jump into my counselor’s app to check something, and I noticed she had changed my profile name. I’d never seen it written down before. It made it real and scary but also joyful and exciting. My god, this is turning into a real roller-coaster.

Yanno that spray stuff the windshield guys use when they make your new windshield as clean as it has ever been? We have a can of it (Sprayway and I’m not going to say how much it cost, fainting couches would be required.) and I went out and cleaned the inside and outside of my windows so easily that I did his too.

I smoke weed in his car (I’m not driving) and that stuff just cut through the oil scum like it wasn’t even there, I was super impressed. I used to struggle so much to get that oil off my windshield back when I was working. I didn’t smoke and drive, I just smoked and did important government works.

A few weeks back, Mom told me she was missing some tax documents from her mail box, so she was going to go to a PO box and get a new place for her mail. She did that and changed the mailing addresses for a few of her money places and then promptly forgot what she did with the piece of paper she had the new address written on. !!!

She finally found it today and I have it now. That’s a good thing, she’s probably going to want to know what it is again next week and the daughter who is living off her won’t be any help.

I really am happy for you. Keep the joyous parts in your memory and forget about the not so joyous feelings.

Ya gots to be careful, it goes down so smooth that you forget its booze until you think you should stand up for some reason.

I have learned that watermelon shine works great for sittin’ on the porch and watchin’ the forest.

I hate to admit it, but I’m sure you are right. It is a state run poverty place and honestly is pretty grim. They get fed and cleaned up after, but they are mostly forgotten by everyone, even by family.

I usually spent half an hour or so just chatting with whoever comes over to talk, but it sometimes feels like I’m walking through a kill shelter and all of those doomed, homeless dogs are following me with their eyes, just begging for one last pat on the head.

I like the blood clot theory the most. That would be fast and infections can take a while. I’m sure she will be missed, she sounds like she was a very nice lady.

When you are better recovered will you be able to run a bit of clothesline on your back porch? As I recall, it does get rather warm in the summer where you are and you have already mentioned that your HVAC isn’t as robust as it could be.

Tomorrow I am going to make a tuna-noodle casserole for me to eat. Hubs won’t eat it, noodles are kryptonite as far as he is concerned, so I forget about that sort of thing.

I don’t like tuna so will use canned chicken instead. I’ve got some wide noodles in the freezer that need to get used and the cream sauce is fairly simple to do. That settles MY dinners for a few days, now I have to think of a new way to bake chicken breasts for him. :joy:

So a combination of pain, insomnia, being hangry, and being awakened twice in 30min for blood and vitals turned somebody into a cranky hag this morning. Luckily C had to deal with that, as I went to the hotel. the drive home wasn’t bad(apart from the usual RDU airport traffic, and Roomie made it down the hill pretty well. We got hockey on, making salmon with rice, peas, and 'shrooms for dinner, and having a Monte Casino for cocktails.

[Seinfeld]Hello..Newman[/Seinfeld]

Well, he honked on the section in protest, yowled at me when I walked in, refused petting, and shunned me. But he’s better now.

What color you go with, Mollie?

Personally I’d like DST, but Standard Time is better for everybody all around.

:frowning:

Well, I’ve got to embrace the frightening as well as the joyous. I have found myself on a scary road. Facing my fears and doing what needs to be done anyway is what makes us human. Basically, my life has become a Gom Jabbar test, and I don’t think failure is an option.

I’ll take “Things I’ll never miss ever again for $1000, please Alex.”

Just a neutral beige so they won’t attract attention during yoga.

No back porch and my AC in this apartment rocks. Even if I had outdoor space, you could drink the air here in the summer. Fortunately, I have an indoor drying rack. During the cooler months, the dryer helps keep the apartment warm, so no biggie.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. The rest of the household has stopped kvetching, and gone to sleep. It’s currently 63 degrees Ferret Height(17.222 Centipedes).

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 6c/43f with a predicted high of 8c/47f and cloudy. Weather app says “The weather is fucking boring. Let’s talk about the fucking things we can make with kale.” That has the makings of another MMP!

That’s a very sensible approach - if you know in advance what’s in the Will, there’s much less chance of arguments and families falling out over such things. It’s a difficult enough time already, without adding any of that kind of drama.

doggio good to hear that Roomie’s surgery went well!

What a sweet pupper, I’m glad they got on well together. I bet the treats were welcome too

Cookie sorry to hear about the loss of one of your Homies, very sad situation.

That’s what I did with mum’s estate. I pretty much looked after her finances and kept her accounts up to date. I put it all in a simple spreadsheet so I’d got account numbers, contacts, insurance policies and all that stuff so after she passed, I handed it all over to the solicitor who was her co-executor (with me) and he was easily able to deal with it all.

I’ve had some very entertaining conversations with the campus chaplains  If we have distressed students in our office, I often used to suggest they went to see a chaplain, even if they weren’t religious. Those guys make a mean cuppa, and they just love to talk!

That’s very good of her, and I am sure that it will help you when you see it. It’s been a big step for you, Mollie, but one that I hope continues to bring you joy.

We get the same treatment from ours when they’re left alone overnight, they have a warble at us when we get home and then can’t decide whether they want to be reassured with fuss and attention, or whether they’re going to sulk instead. Usually a combination of both!

Yesterday at irk was not too bad, I was trying to get some stuff done but TM was very chatty so it took me a while to get something straight in my head before I could send some info off elsewhere. Stuff got done, I got home in good time and made chilli for dinner. We decided to forego the usual Friday night film as I needed an early night, so might have a film night on Sunday instead.

Today I was up by 6am, tended to the needs of cats, then went to the gym for a 7.30am session with Amrit. Home by 9am, showered, got my hair dry and then started reading stuff here after a cup of tea to restore my equilibium.

‘im indoors is up now, I need to get some food sorted out, get some clothes packed, set up the automated feeders for the mogs, give them some extra food, check litter trays and then we can head off on our way up north to sunny Bradford. Musical shenanigans for the rest of the day, and we’ll be heading home tomorrow after lunch.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 62 Amurrkin out and sunny with a predicted high of 84 and sunny. We shall be RDOS sloths today as is our wont. Shortly I will get a pot roast goin’ in the slow cooker. There will be baby carrots, onions and N.O.T. Baby lima beans, squish and cornbread muffins will accompany. OYKW wants an English pea and spare guts casserole.:face_vomiting: He is welcome to make and eat it if he must. It involves canned peas and :: shudder :: canned spare guts.

And now this…

AHEM < CLEARIN’ THROAT > AHEM

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY DEEEAAARRR BBBOOOFFFAAAEEE!!!

HAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

I spent yesterday morning quilting my project on the long arm machine
