I usually send the office wide emails so I tend to have things like that on my radar. I’m fine with fall back; spring forward takes days.
Lager likes it as I don’t change the time on his food dish. It pushes up his feeding from 1 & 7 to 12 & 6.

This is one of those things that makes me unreasonably happy. Thank you!
JaneDoe42:
Someone, I think it was Rocky, brought up DSL. I had no idea it was going to happen this weekend, how do you guys hear about it? Or are you just so used to it that you always know when it will happen? When will someone every stop this foolishness?
It took me a couple of years after moving from Indiana (most of my years there, it was us and AZ who didn’t observe DSL) to Tennessee to get used to it. Of course, irk always reminded us and the local news would remind us not to be late for church tomorrow.
Past 9pm here and time for the late-night final. Did my gym thing this afternoon and got home in time to refill the calories, munching on baby carrots right now which will be (maybe) the last food of the day. Shopping list is complete along with coupons, so that will be my primary chore tomorrow morning. Other than that been a quiet evening, nothing much on the calendar, so probably will do a little more internettin’ and then head off to bed. Did book a couple of tours for my April vacation and need to confirm some things–only 40 days out, this is the earliest vacation for me since Antarctica.
And see what everyone has been up to today…scrollin’, scrollin’, scrolling on the Mumpers…
Coppertone, hope they get it fixed right this time.
Flyboy, sounds like your talents are in demand. And I keep an eye on my credit and debit cards at least once a week, so far no problems…
Cookie, outside of beer (and I’ve only been beer-drunk twice in my life), I have never touched drugs…I am sorry for the hurt you must be feeling, drugs like fentanyl are killers and take way too many lives.
FCM, hopefully Otis wasn’t playing possum…
JtC, Been so long since I paralleled-parked I have serious doubts if I could do it today.
Think my last driver’s license road test was my first one back when I was 17 and getting my first license.
Mollie, welcome to the MMP…
And that’s about all I got. See y’all on Firday.
Yep. It still sucks. My feets are always kinda numb. Like that feeling when your foot falls asleep but hasn’t gotten to the point of pins and needles of waking up again, sorta just feels like a club.
doggio Hope roomie is recovering well.
A dog is insisting that is go outside time, or maybe just be annoying and try to get under the desk time. Either way it is close to bed time. 'Night y’all.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 5c/41f with a predicted high of 7c/44f and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s the perfect weather to clean your fucking house. If you have a llama, it’s also a good day to brush the fucking llama.”
I’m with you on that one, Mollie - I have a lot of eye trouble (ulcerative keratitis) so I am a frequent flyer at the emergency eye clinic, and have been warned never to entertain the idea of contact lenses. My optician mentioned the word “cataract” at my last eye exam but said it wasn’t serious enough to need anything yet, so I probably have a few years to fret about it.
It wasn’t too dramatic, we went through her staff review form and she seems happy with it so that’s all signed off now. She had some things to grumble about, none of which I can do anything about. And it wasn’t my turn for the Huddle, of course that just means it’s my turn next week instead.
That sounds very promising, we’ll keep our collective fingers and paws crossed for you.
That is very sad, she was lucky to have you in her life and I am sure she appreciated you.
doggio I hope Roomie is recovering well and the drive home today isn’t a painful one (for either of you). How will Spot cope being left alone overnight without access to the top shelf gin?
Yesterday was not a bad day, I got home in decent time so I tended to the needs of cats before zooming off to the gym for an hour. Back home to get showered and changed, then a bit of sofa time with Blossom while ‘im indoors was making dinner.
Today I’m back on campus, and so far TM is behaving herself. There’s three of us in today so she’s got two people to aim her grumbles at. No plans for tonight, I’m cooking so I got some mince out of the freezer but haven’t decided what to make with it yet. I have to be up early on Saturday as I’m seeing Amrit at the gym at 7.30am so I don’t want a particularly late night.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 62 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 83 and cloudy(ish) with the possibility of t storms around five p.m. I shall betake myself over to the church house around elevenish to deal with the weekly stuff and hang around for Stations of The Cross at noon. I will also pick up fish and chips from LJS whilst out for today’s main need to feed. Outside of that it will be the usual RDOS inactivities.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Firday Y’all!
Up, caffeinatrd, and sheveled. Surgury went well, they had roomie done by 4:40, and in a room by 6:00. Of course the forgot to tell my friend C and I that she was in a room. But at some point today there will be a drive home, and a walk down the hilll.
There will be glaring and tail shaking for sure.
I’m glad you have a choice. But I know what you mean about the lottery.
You get some weird weather comments, but this is truly among the weirder ones… ![]()
We’ve got patchy fog and 46 Ferrets this morning, on the way to mid-50s and no sun promised. FCD plans to work in his shop. I need to run a couple of errands and I’ll do that this morning before the weekly cleaning of dirty clothes. Beyond that, I’ll make it up as I go along.
After Ziva’s unnatural stillness yesterday (did I say it was Otis? I’m too lazy to go back and check) anyway, I got to thinking about where we’ll bury her. Our other critters are randomly in the back yard, but since Otis is a digger, I’m thinking Ziva will rest in the front. The trick will be finding a spot that doesn’t have too many roots to make digging a challenge. So that’s today’s morose contemplation.
On the less gloomy side, it’s just 329 days till our cruise. A little early to start packing… FCD was asking last night about how long the transit of the canal takes. According to the itinerary, it’ll be from 6AM to 4:30PM - give or take. Our cabin will be on the south-facing side of the ship and I expect we’ll spend much of the day on our balcony either watching the ground crew get us thru the locks or just enjoying the scenery. Anyway, we’ve got something to look forward to in January!
For now, tho, it’s dirty socks and what-to-do-for-supper (so I can pull something out of the freezer.)
Happy Firday!!
Good morning all. Awoke with the dawn (or my bladder, take your pick) and have broken fast and will shortly don shopping clothes and head out to Kroger for the Big March shopping trip. I have a coupon that expires in a couple of days for $14 off if I buy $140 of stuff, so we’ll see if I can reach that goal. Have some soccer from 5-7pm and will probably work some gym time in there too. Might sign up to referee soccer tomorrow, but it would be 15-20 miles away and there is an 80% chance of rain Saturday, so I will not do it until this evening, let someone else have that joy. Also need to schedule the leak detector sometime today for next week. So for me a fairly active Firday. At least the weather will be nice for it, 64F now and heading to 82F later in the day.
boo fae, do not have a llama to brush, and pitifully little hair on my head worthy of brushing. But glad the meetings were survivable.
swampy, happy Station-Keeping.
doggio, safe drive home and trust Spot has not plotted out your demise for such horrible treatment…
FCM, I leave 8 April so I’m only 32 days or so out from my travels, I’ve got everything necessary booked but need to take a day here and go over everything to make sure it’s all good. And the time of transit sounds about right, you can watch from your cabin but do try to get on deck forward to watch at least one of the lockages through the canal, they should be appreciated with a wider view (IMHO).
And nearly 7:30am, so all the kids should be in class and I need to dress and grab the shopping list. Back later.
Supposed to be 60 but staying home hoping Heat Co comes by. Maintenance dont work fri-sun so Im the only one who can let them in.
Mornin’ all.
It’s 42F, damp, and cloudy. It’ll be rainy pretty much most of the day, and the expected daytime high is 50F.
doggio, I’m glad the surgery went well. I hope the ride and the transition to the apartment are smooth.
Cookie, such sad news. Drugs are a scourge.
Flyboy, fingers crossed for the interview. It’s nice to have choices, but I get that it’s also stressful.
BooFae, I’m glad TM was not troublesome. Let’s hope it remains that way today.
Mollie, welcome aboard.
I’m one of the few people who prefer standard time to DST. I wish they’d just leave it.
I had to take a driving test even though I had driver’s education in high school. I think it’s because I was a minor. I’ve never had to take a test since.
I have an optometrist appointment on Tuesday, and today I’m going to have my husband call the surgery schedulers because he still hasn’t received a date nearly a month after his cataract consultation.
Yesterday we went to lunch in downtown Puyallup and ate at Wicked Pie Pizza. They make tasty cocktails and pizza. We brought our leftovers home and had them for dinner.
I think today will be a stay-at-home day, although my husband was making noises about going to the grocery store, so he’ll be out and about.
Well, I need more coffee. Everyone, take care.
Good morning all! The threesome walked again this morning. Mrs Magill had a long day yesterday. She could not get enough volunteers to chaperone the other two bands’ CPAs, so she had to fill in the gap. The Honor Bands’ CPAs were Tuesday, and the level 1’s and level 2’s were yesterday. The assessments ran long, and the intermediate band didn’t get to play until 5:00 pm. Unfortunately, the idle time was long enough for them to get their heads out of the game, so their performance was not as good as it should have been. She didn’t get home until 6:30. Seven hours is a long time to be around a bunch of teenagers. She was worn out when she got home, she forgot to take her evening meds[1], so she was not 100% on the walk this morning.
My father called last night. He wanted to go over his will, which he had updated to account for his new(ish) marital status and the selling of the house. He wants to make sure that my brother, my sister, and I are aware of what’s in there. Neither of my grandfathers were communicative about their wills, which lead to unpleasant surprises and siblings not talking for years. He doesn’t want us to go through that.
This morning, Mrs Magill noticed my toes were painted, and she complemented the color. I know this whole thing has been hard for her, and I appreciate the effort.
Between you all’s support, my sister’s support, and Mrs Magill’s adjusting support, I think I may have this.
Thank you.
One of her anti-cancer meds gives her splitting headaches, so she takes something to lessen them. That one give her brain fog, so she has another one to fight that, which she takes in the evening. ↩︎
Last week, we picked up some from the English Pub up the road. I love fried haddock and cod. This week we’re doing shrimp for dinner. I might pick up a Pizza Caprese for lunch instead of my usual Friday Pepperoni Stromboli.
Good to hear - except for the forgetting about telling you all part. Don’t you just love those hours of not knowing anything while a loved one is in surgery, and you’re in the waiting room with an overactive imagination? Ah, good times…
That shouldn’t bee too difficult nowadays.
I’m with you. I like having light in the morning.
I’m glad roomie’s surgery went well, doggio.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I need to do a couple of loads of laundry today and sweep the floors (mopping will have to wait). I also need to order a few things from da Jungle. After that, it’s RDOS.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
We did see that on our in-and-out canal trip 8 years ago. But we watched most from our balcony because no crowds and close-by terlit! ![]()
My daughter used to teach that age group - she’d come home totally wrung out. She’s so much happier and more chill in her gov’t contractor office job. She’s their Excel Queen!
Yanno, I’ve just assumed that my mom’s estate will be divided more or less evenly among the 5 of us, tho I know she’s giving some to her grands. Wonder if I should broach the subject with her. She gets weird about money and secrecy. I’d hate for there to be any nastiness, tho one sister is particularly entitled and another is less than diplomatic about her opinions about Ms. Entitled. Glad my bro is the executor.
Back from erranding and first load is in the washer. I returned 3 t-shirts to WalMart - the tags said XL, but FCD had a conflicting opinion. And, frankly, it’s not like he needs t-shirts anyway. I swear, until he lost all that weight and we donated all his clothes, he had twice as many garments as I do. Even now, he has more t-shirts and socks.
I also stopped at Aldi - and they had the barrel of pretzel rods again! Huzzah!! Then to Food Lion for a few of their specials, including a hunk o’chuck roast. I’ll cut it in half for 2 meals. I’m thinking we’ll have pot roast tomorrow or Sunday. They even had little spudlets on sale, so those will go nicely in the pot.
Once home, I stowed all my purchases and FINALLY swapped out the car seat for the booster. Tobias barely fit in his old one, and since Roxy passed the weight limit for having to use a seat, her brother gets her booster. And I get trunk space back (I was storing the booster back there rather than in the potentially dirty garage.)
So, laundry time. Rah.
Well, shopping is done and put away, cost more than planned but should have enough stuff (except for odds and ends) to get me to vacation time in April. Will do a little recuperation then head off to the gym for a shorter workout since I’ll be working with the soccer kids this evening. Beautiful day outside, but the chances for rain tomorrow are at 80% so that may cool us down some.
Coppertone, hope the waiting is worth your while.
Taters, one month is more than enough time, husband needs to stay on the phone until it is scheduled.
You ain’t kidding, the total even after coupon was over $200…hopefully it’ll be awhile before I stock up like that again.
FCM, I have about two dozen T-shirts and 12-14 polos which is probably too many, but at least I can divert myself from having to do laundry too often.
OK, some internettin’ to do and then off to sweat 1,000 calories at the gym.
Managed to drag my ass to exercise despite the arthritis flare-up. Heavy rain today, which may freeze tonight.
Another death to deal with, as someone in The Home died a few days ago. She was wheelchair-bound (motorized) since age 40 when a car hit her as she was getting into her own car. Pretty much paralyzed, with some movement in her arms. She stayed very active here and was uncomplaining about her condition. I didn’t know her well, but she was always pleasant.
Gotta hit the grocery today for lumpia ingredients and some essentials. It’ll have to wait until this afternoon, though.
Home early, my back is barking at me, so I took some sick time. Ms Peach is pleased with the situation.
I applied for unemployment benefits. Not entirely sure what happens next, but I’ll finger it out. I also applied to Washington Healthplan Finder. It offered a Kaiser policy for $1,500+/month, or another Kaiser plan (the one I seem to have until the end of the month) for $1,200+/month.
I assume if I could get Apple Health (Medicaid) it would have told me. So until I am eligible for Medicare, my options will be 1) Don’t get sick or injured.
My USPS orientation is scheduled for Monday the 16th from 07:00 to 15:00… in Seattle. Which means I’ll have to wake up at three, and be out of the house no later than four.
