(Old) Digging things up in the MMP

At the gym trying to kill some time and calories before the U8 soccer ‘jamboree’. Scheduled an electrician for Monday and did a water test and yep, another leak…or the house is using 13 gallons of water an hour with everything shut off and the toilets full and not flushed. Will run another check tomorrow just to be sure. I have money budgeted but I am getting tired of these annual leaks.

And if that wasn’t enough, my email is down, much like red it logs me in to the account page and when I tried to go to my email it sent me back to the login. Called them and the virtual voice said they were having problems, just hope it gets fixed soon.

At least the weather is good.

This session was productive. We talked about my Mother’s death two years ago, which I think I needed to talk about. We talked about the conversation I’d had with my sister a couple of weeks ago. We then discussed how I was feeling and my thoughts on things, and then she asked if I had another name. I told her my online name, and then I told her our real name, which I’d never said out loud before. She addressed me with that name. It felt good. I might use that name at the Culver’s tonight for dinner.

Anyhow - the important stuff: We don’t know Squeaky’s band’s score yet (Mrs Magill had a doctor’s appointment and had to leave before they were announced.), but she spoke with the Director of Bands at UT, who was there, and he was impressed. I’ll pass on the scores and the music difficulty level once I know it.

@Johnny_L.A Good luck with the interview tomorrow.

Squeaky just got home. They scored all ones (The highest score) and all their pieces were level 6.

Survival report:

Just woke up from a long nap after Emily brought me to her house. Came from the hospital and went right to bed, long morning, awake since 4am. Having a can of pop now. Not hungry yet. Waiting by the window for Harriet’s school bus.

Arm just feels like a dead log strapped in an elevation sling to the front of me, big ice packs on either side. To be iced, elevated and in a sling for 72 hours. The regional nerve block wears off slowly over 24 hours supposedly and then I have oxycodone [& Zofran] and Tylenol.

Wonderful!

Glad you’re on the other side of it.

Oh - and I’d forgotten to mention. To prove the universe has a sense of humor, The Kinks’ Lola came on the radio when I turned on the car.

DPS finally got the issue fixed and I now have an appointment for 1240 tomorrow.

WTG Squeaky!

Glad you did okay with surgery, BBBoo!

Howdy Y’all! We procured and stowed provisions and promptly went into RDOS mode. Then sup got fixed and et. That pretty much sums up the day here in swampland.

BBBoo glad the surgery went well. I am sure Harriet is givin’ you the very best of nursin’ care.

Red yay for the appointment. Hope it goes smoothly.

Coppertone sorry for the heatin’ woes.

Maus sounds like a very good session with the therapist. Conga rats to Squeaky!

FlyBoy good luck with the interview tomorrow.

Taters hope son finds the right house for him soonest.

MetalMouse hope the leak, if that’s what it is, ain’t too bad. Have fun coachin’.

Great news

We had an uneventful drive, apart from the sweving Hyundai that passed us on the runoff at hifh speed. The flat bed full.of junkers that was shedding parts, and Cletus the Slack Jawed Yokel towing a barely tieds down wrecked pick up Final Destination style in front of us in an I40 constrction zone. We’re now in Bermuda Run. NC. I’m at the Mexican restraunt across from the hotel having a Patron maragarita and enchiladas chilie verde. Roomie is on the 24 hour pre surgury fast, because apparently if you hornk during surgery, aspirate a Froot Loop and die, the staff becomes cross.

Cat walked on the keyboard?

Nope. All I did was put ‘Morgan Freeman’ and ‘/MF’ in brackets.

I do hope the rest of your recovery will be as uneventful as this part. I hope it isn’t horrible painful, please remember to take your pain meds on schedule instead of PRN. Your body will need them.

Rest and recover, you are important.

After moving to AZ, we always had a long commute to work. His was longer, over 60 miles one way, but mine (40 miles each way) had more stop and go traffic. Living ten miles away from grocery stores and restaurants is all new and different to me.

When is Roomie’s surgery? Do you guys have a plan to stop Spot from walking on her knee?

A 7 mile drive to work is something I always dreamed of. But that meant I would be living close to a lot of people so it never happened.

Dang about your headlight, I’ll bet you won’t be able to just buy the clip, they will make you buy a whole new assembly. Bastids.

I do hope it helps. Focus on taking your time, you aren’t building strength, you are building endurance and core fitness.

That just hurts my tree-hugger heart. We sold my last car because it was acting like it was going to start costing real money at 210,000 miles. The tranny failed at 150G so we replaced that but when the drive train started causing problems we knew it was time.

This probably won’t be my last car, but it will park in our yard for a bunch of years before it needs replaced.

Well good on you! I got a few tasks done, but they didn’t involve kitten help so I’ll bet yours were more fun.

How are they doing, btw? Any recent pics?

I hope you enjoy your meeting and lunch.

That sort of low mileage is just mind boggling to me, but then I remember that you ride a bus a lot. When I lived in Okinawa and Hawaii, they had most excellent bus systems. CA, AZ and WV…not so much.

I’ll chip in if you want to bring her some pizza, you can eat that one handed.

My friend who made her fortune writing bodice rippers was a post-menopausal widow. I sure did look at her a whole different way after reading the kissy parts.

Is that from your apartment window? Watching that fly-over must be pretty entertaining at times, it looks like rush hour probably sucks.

I hope your Mexican is good. I’m going to be out and about tomorrow and will probably eat tacos for lunch. Hubs can’t eat them now (carbs, beef, stoopid gout) and I would feel badly eating them in front of him.

Its supposed to be in the 80’s this weekend. That’s just insane, it will be cooler back in AZ.

That was lovely, I know that she isn’t the only one who is missing you.

Oh gosh, I gotta all Mom. I’ll finish later. Maybe.

Provisions for the next week have been procured. Mrs Magill’s parents are coming this weekend, I just found out. I now have a menu planned out for the next couple of days.

I chickened out at the Culver’s and gave them my “guy” name. Maybe next time.

Would you like us to start using your real name? That is very doable.

Soonish. And LOL on Spot. At least it’s not Gordie, that boy liked pulling off Band-Aids.

Evening all. Soccer went fine, had 26 7-year old boys running around, fortunately we also had 6-8 coaches to help mind them, so I still possess most of my mind. Went to Whataburger afterwards as I just didn’t feel like fixing anything myself so am nicely stuffed. Tried the Diet A&W Root Beer and found it good. Garbage is out at the curb so the major chores are complete. About 9:15pm now so will be heading off to bed sooner rather than later I think.

Maus, glad the session went well and Conga-rats to Squeaky and his mates in the band for a stellar performance.

BBBoo, glad you survived. Hope the pain isn’t too bad and you get a good night’s rest.

red, my email is back up and I think I am caught up on it.

swampy, I’ll do one more test run tomorrow and then bring in a professional leak detector before calling the plumber.

doggio, hope roomie didn;t have to sit there and watch you scarf down all that food…

JtC, had about a 9 mile commute, then a 14 mile one when they moved our office, then a 6 mile trip when they moved it again. Should have stayed working, I’d probably be a couple miles down the road by now… As for the car, I’m usually good for about 80,000 miles, but given the costs these days and the less travelling I do, I suspect the Hyundai will be my wheels well into my 80’s.

It’s 9:30pm now and despite sleeping in I feel rather weary tonight, so bedtime won’t be long coming. Catch y’all on Thorsday.

When I got hit by the dump truck, I looked at the price that they charged my insurance company for things. My headlights were ~$250 each in 2019. I’m thinking there’s something electrical wrong. We’ll see.

I have a feeling that this won’t be my last either. At some point, I’ll have to get something that sits higher because this one is hard to get out of.

In bed with two ice packs, water and oxycodone pills right here if needed, with some crackers for my stomach.

Maus is as close to my real name as Mollie is. I’m good with whatever - same thing with pronouns. As Suzie (nee Eddie) Izzard said, “Just don’t be a jerk.”

Besides, if you all knew my Real Name, then you would have power over me. Isn’t that how magic works?
