(Old) Digging things up in the MMP

@BippityBoppityBoo

You are in our thoughts here. Remember I am just an hour away if you need anything. Once you are back in your own place let me know and I will bring your puzzles

Up and hope they fix my heat. Not fun.

FCD is constantly telling me that WD-40 is not a lubricant. The WD stands for Water Displacement which means it’s to keep things from corroding. Other products grease the wheels. That’s my TED talk for today.

That’s why I don’t go to Outback any more - well that and the last time we went, everything was a la carte. Dunno if it’s still that way but we’ll go to Texas Roadhouse if we want a hunk o’ cow.

Your forecast is very like ours, tho our high is predicted to be two more Ferrets than yours. It was another of those bizarro nights where it’s warmer at sunrise than when we went to bed.

I watched the movie Charade - another of those where the older man ends up with the much younger woman. My theory is those scripts are penned by older men who give voice to their wildest fantasy. And I did finish blanket #10. Yay!

We’ll be heading out in about an hour. Meanwhile, we both need to shower and don appropriate attire for boat work.

Happy Wednesday!

A real pea souper this morning and 36F at 0745.

Started off the morning with an optical migraine. At least it cleared up quickly.

My daughter is coming over on the weekend and we’ll be making lumpia. Tomorrow is an outing to a local Mexican restaurant. It gets good reviews, although that’s often just because the quantities are large. Think I’ll give their queso birria tacos a try. We ordered in a pizza last night from a place that gets good reviews; sadly, we weren’t impressed with it.

On with the day.

we are in the foggy, misty, damp portion of winter end. just icky. it will be dreary until sunday when there might be sun.

best of luck today, bippityboppityboo; and a nice easy recovery.

Up and walked. We saw quite a lot of folks out this morning. It was a good morning for it. Squeaky has CPAs[1] this morning, so Mrs Magill, being The Band MomTM is chaperoning.
I have counselling this afternoon. I don’t think I had any homework. I probably look at the gender questions she had sent me a couple of weeks ago, so I have something to discuss. I just feel awkward talking about myself.

  1. Footnotes=Concert Performance Assessment - basically an exam for the whole concert band. They sounded good last week during their rehearsal ↩︎

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After that, I shall get sheveled and ready to go to the license branch. I hope that it doesn’t take forever.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

There was a staph beating last Tuesday that I went down for. Got some thanks during that. Then there was pizza. Since I eschew carbohydrates, I didn’t have any; but the admin bought me a salad with a bunch of stuff in it (including jalapeños). [Confession: I had a slice of thin-crust pizza last night, since I didn’t know what to do for dinner.] La Jefa was in a meeting with a credit bureau all day, and I clocked out at 15:00 as usual. She did send me an email 20 minutes later: ‘I meant to call to wish you well before the day got away from me. All the best on your next adventure! Thanks for all the years and commitment you gave this place!’

I got this email from a cow-orker:

I really really really dislike change!!! I can honestly say with ALL MY HEART that I enjoyed working with you for the last almost 2 decades. Boring or predictable are not 2 words that pop into my head when I have thought of you, nor will they be words that describe you for the future LOL. Even though I’m not educated enough at times to know what you’re talking about, don’t think for one second that it stopped me from wanting to hear your input on the situation LMAO. If anything, I just tried to remember to look it up online later when I remembered to research.

link to video of the ‘Lonely Goatheard’ song from *The Sound of Music*, since I entitled my goodbye email ‘Auf Wiedersehen’.

I suspect you will be missed in what you did in your job too. Nobody really knows what all we do until after the door has been shut & the empty room just echoes with sadness & confusion. I got to know more about your day to day as the years went by, maybe more than most people. I know [El Jefe - the president before La Jefe, and now CEO] will miss you quite a bit too. It was so much fun to see the two of you exchanging your witticisms. Hopefully you two will keep in touch too.

Morgan Freeman\] Actually, El Jefe probably doesn’t care. \[/MF

Do you have a fog cutter knife?

Morning all. Except for a couple of bladder alerts, I slept in until after 8am today so caught up from yesterday’s early awakening. Fairly busy day for me, need to schedule an electrician to come out for a couple of issues, run a soccer ‘jamboree’ for 7 year olds and get the garbage out, among other things. Fortified myself with pancakes and bacon for breakfast, so belly is happy. Days keep getting warmer, it’s 64F now heading to 78F and dry as a bone.

boo fae, just curious, is there no place near your work station to go out to eat, or is it just easier to pack your food with you?

BBBoo, sending nothing but positive vibes and good wishes. Enjoy the kids and the drugs…

Coppertone, stay bundled and hoped the heat comes back on soon.

FCM, like you, I go to Texas Roadhouse (or Longhorn) for steak instead of Outback, just don’t care for the vibe and for some reason the place near me has booths that I have to squeeze into, even with my reduced weight.

cookie, mind the fog and enjoy the eating out this weekend.

Maus, good luck to Squeaky.

red, happy licensing!

flyboy, nice to know there was some good parting memories.

And need to move quickly to get life started later than usual. Take care all.

What’s with the weird formatting in my post?

Oh. The cow-orker who sent me that email has been with the company for at least 40 years. It’s the only job she’s had. (Started right out of high school, I think.)

No, but I used to wear a fog cutter (a Navy reference that you may not get).

I have a pea coat…

You really should carry a fog cutter knife, in case it gets too foggy. You can cut squares of it out so that you can see.

It seemed like a reasonable day, at least till the end. One package car go 6 chairs in 36" square packages. the middle car got 4 couches. I didn’t know JD Vance moved to Raleigh. I’m gonna take a nap them roomie will head out to Clemmons for tomorrow’s surgery.

Good luck to Squeaky!

Good surgery, BBBoo!

Mornin’ all.

It’s 48F, cloudy, and a little damp. Occasional morning rain showers will turn to steady afternoon rain with a high temperature of 50F.

BBBoo, I hope the surgery went well, and the recovery is speedy.

BooFae, yay for a TM-free day!

Flyboy, even if you weren’t physically present in the office, a quick Team/Zoom message (at LEAST) would have been nice. The email from your co-worker was very nice. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised.

My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has 79,800 miles on it. I drove it off the lot with less than 10 miles on it. It helped immensely that a great deal of my time while working out of Olympia was spent teleworking due to COVID and the policy that followed immediately after COVID. If I had to drive every day, I would have had many more miles because my round-trip commute was nearly 75 miles per day. That’s a mileage, not mention fuel costs.

I often took my Jeep on road trips for work until we got all the new vehicles in. The older fleet (2016 Hyundais) broke down often because they were lemons.

I slept in today, well, I guess slept, woke up, slept, woke up, but gave up and rolled out of bed at around 7:50. Mr. Taters got up and fed the pups at around 5:30. He is now back in bed napping, while I enjoy some quiet time.

My son is looking at a couple of houses today. I don’t expect he’ll find THE house today, but I hope he can find something he likes soon.

Alrighty, time get this day started. I’m behind as it is. Good thing the kitchen is already clean. Take care of yourselves.

La Jefa is a good example of “when they show you who they are, believe them.” Your consulting rate, should anyone ask, is double your last hourly pay equivalent, X hours minimum.

Heat Man was here. It needs a part. Couple days. Sigh.

My wife is still very angry with her.

In other news, Tomorrow I have a phone interview for what appears to be a full-time ‘teller’ position with a local credit union. I’ve already accepted the part-time USPS position.

Today’s tasks:

  • Mail a large envelope for The Missus.
  • Drop off all the stuff I have for my taxes.
  • Visit the Employment Development Department to get my unemployment benefits.

I think there’s a bill in the mailbox for the house insurance. Now that I’ve paid off the house, I have to pay taxes and insurance myself. I should shift some money around and take care of that. (Hm… I don’t have an actual deed. I’ll have to find out about that.)

It didn’t happen. I didn’t find anything about having to schedule an appointment on the website, so it was a bust. When I attempted to schedule one online, the website was borked, looping me back around to the blank form if / when the submit button was even functional. Sis seems to be having the same issue (her birthday is tomorrow and she needs to renew). I tried to do it on the desktop with the same results, then attempted to find the chatbot that the instructions said to use. !@#$ing DPS! However, I did get the grocery shopping done.

I used to make fog cutters when I tended bar.

The filled water tanks did a lot to balance the boat, but we’ll still need ballast. FCD plans to go get some tomorrow. I’m hoping to work in the yard. I just finished walking the path thru the wooded part of the back yard, cutting back overhanging stuff that would attack us as we drive thru. Once FCD gets the chainsaw back from servicing, we’ll cut up the trunks that are blocking a couple of areas. And I’m about to go back out there with my little chainsaw to hack back branches that are too big for my hand-held nippers.

Not sure what supper will be. We foraged yesterday and I feel like we should have real meals at least every other day. Must decide - it’s after 3 already.

OK, back to work. Quit distracting me!!!

You probably never made piss cutters, I’ll bet; that was the impolite name for that hat.
