Hun, compared to the City of Oaks, Nashville is a bloody vacation.
I’ve clocked out for the last time. TPTB have been in a meeting all day, so I can only assume that I am now officially unemployed.
They didn’t even come out to say good-bye?! That is really assholish.
Waters back on. Everyones heat working except mine.
Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and put in all its respective places. I also erranded. It is too a word! One of my favorite made up words even. Gas was $2.49 at Sam’s, so I texted OYKW to let him know. He went and gassed up his ride. We achieved nappage and day drinkin’ this afternoon. We want to sophisticate up our day drinkin’. After Lent (doesn’t sound very Lenten to experiment with exotic libations) we shall venture forth to class ourselves up. Sup got nuked and et.
Coppertone glad your water is back on. Hope the heat problem is figured out soonest.
Dicey EEW! Don’t think I have ever swallowed a skeeter. Pretty sure I have swallowed my fair share of gnats though.
Taters hope the dizziness is abated today. I went through a time of that for around a year in the mid nineties. Never did figure out what caused it and it pretty much suddenly stopped.
Going in for open reduction internal fixation surgery on my left arm tomorrow, from a fall in an apt complex parking lot two weeks ago-night, poor lighting, yada, yada. The fractures have displaced and need plates and screws and nails and bolts. I go in at 5am my time and surgery at 7am supposedly. Already picked up my oxycodone from the pharmacy for afterwards. I’ll get picked up from the hospital by either my daughter or son-in-law and stay with them and the grands for at least 24 hours afterwards, so I’ll be supervised as only an 8 year old can. She’s lending me her bedroom and no doubt a couple of doggie stuffies for the duration. Frankly, I’m relieved-sick of the pain around the clock.
Best wishes!
Good evening. Have fed myself sufficiently and have no plans until tomorrow, so internettin’ and readin’ will occupy the balance of the evening. Still 65F outside and only getting down to 57F tonight, so may have to consider trading in my heavyweight comforter for the lighter model. Just hope it doesn’t get so nice I’ll be tempted to mow my lawn in March…
Rather amazing that getting up at 4:30am, having a pretty full day including several hours at the gym and getting my car washed and vacuuming it, and still don’t feel all that tired yet either means all that physical conditioning is helping or I’m just too dumb to lie down. Do suspect once it does catch up with me that I’ll be off to Slumberland pretty quickly. Got soccer outdoors with the littles tomorrow and Firday, so no rest from finishing up the indoor season.
My e-mail is acting up for the second night in a row, it gives me the login page and when I do I get a blank page that ends up routing me back to the login page. It worked fine this morning/afternoon and on my phone, so it is a puzzlement.
Swampy , trust that laundering went well.
Knots, glad you stuck it out, and near-cramps on the arch sounds…unpleasant.
red, a cold rain is about as miserable a day that can be.
FCM, bought about 8 new pairs of underwear and am trying to discard the most worn-out ones I have (I wear boxer-briefs). I have 50’ hoses, but I suspect at least one of them is at or near it’s lifetime, so may have to replace it.
DIcey, impressed that your mom at 80 still takes cruises after her knee replacement…give me hope that I’ll still be sailing the Seven Seas when I’m that age.
Flyboy, sad to see you leave a place you’ve invested so much time and effort in, but at least you have plans for the immediate (and maybe long-term) future and I think they’ll find out pretty quick what they are missing without you.
Coppertone, glad the water flows once more.
BBBoo, best wishes for a successful and fairly painless surgery tomorrow. Write us when you can.
And that’s all from here. Need to printout some soccer info and do a couple of other things, so may catch up with you later and may not…we’ll see.
Unless you go with poultry smoked sausage, there’s red meat in this, but here you go. It’s delicious.
That looks very yum, thank you! Thanks for the other links, I’m starting to get inspired now!
He loves it when us kids get him a nice, traditional ball or engineer cap that fits (easy for me, since what fits my head with hair fits his bald head).
I do wish Hubs would wear something else than baseball caps. I’ve offered to buy him many styles and he refuses to even consider it. He’s such a fuddyduddy at times.
The Pollening starts today.
Love the song, I feel it in my lungs!
I think it’s a good idea to do that for everyday since I use a lot of onion, celery, peppers and such.
I am so lazy, this makes things much easier and I only have to wash the food processor once instead of daily.
And the clouds showed up just in time to obscure the eclipsed moon.
Of course! When I was in TX for the total one, we didn’t know if it was going to be overcast until about five minutes before it started.
I looked out, but as predicted, the clouds and mountains blocked my view here.
I’d appreciate any comments you might care to share.
I looked at a few of the ones in your link and they seem pretty standard. There are like seven or so forms of TC, I do Sun TC which is mostly focused on balance and flexibility. Its important that your routine includes a lot of warm up stretching before getting to the hard stuff, you don’t want to hurt yourself.
Try to avoid anything for self defense, they will try to teach you to kick head high and we are just too old for that shit. Also avoid the faster classes run by thirty-something kids because they are age appropriate.
I do hope you find something you like and that it helps you with your balance.
men’s fashion should turn back to wearing hats.
I totally agree! Men look awesome in hats.
I’m a big fan of hats and have six, none of which is a ball cap. I like floppy brimmed hats, but rock my fedora at times.
Some of the exercises looked impossible with my state of balance. I skipped those and did what I could.
Doing what you can is all that anyone could possibly expect, keep it up!
I’ve found that if my arches want to cramp, it sometimes helps if I put a bottle on the floor and then roll it around with my foot.
Thank Og I do not have to commute anymore.
I bought my car in 2018 and then retired. I used to drive a couple of hours a day so now looking at my less than 100,000 miles on the odometer just shocks me.
I’ve been fighting the dizzy (cue attendant nausea) the past few days.
That sounds pretty miserable, especially the part that you don’t know what is causing it. I do hope you start feeling better soon. Have you heard of the Epley Maneuver? I had a friend who used it very successfully and it won’t hurt you if your ear crystals aren’t the problem.
So much so, that he refuses to go back for skin checks at the dermatologist anymore.
Oh, MEN! I do understand your frustration.
Good job with the adulting, I hope you got it right the first time.
I’ll have to pull out my book and transcribe.
I would appreciate it, but please do not rush. Transcribing can be rather tiresome when I’m not in the right mood, I assume others feel the same way.
I’m a firm believer in mise en place as well.
Even if I don’t pre-measure everything, I have it all together before I start. Then I move things to a different counter as I move them. That helps me double check to be sure I didn’t forget anything.
My mom still wants to do everything, but she’s definitely slowed down some more after her recent knee replacement.
I don’t know if customer wheel chairs are a thing where you are, but when I take Mom out touristing, I always ask the business if they have a wheel chair we can use. They almost always have at least one.
I’ve clocked out for the last time.
No cake, no card? Ingrates. ![]()
Going in for open reduction internal fixation surgery on my left arm tomorrow,
I hope everything goes well and the pain decreases. I’m sure the stuffies will help a lot!
So today was full of sloth for me. It rained most of the day, I love watching the rain and now the river fog is so thick I couldn’t see the riverbank a block away when it was light.
I made a small pot of rice and heated up left over churro beans for dinner. He got a salad instead of rice and ate a piece of leftover cornbread.
Tonight is the last night of that greasy shit on his head, I’m hoping those two seeping sores dry up now. Hubs did wear one of his helmet liners and didn’t even get blood on his pillow case. I’m so happy Red suggested it, but I’m also kinda embarrassed that we didn’t think of it.
I love the MumpMind, all I have to do is whine about something and someone will come along and solve my problem for me ![]()
Bboo best wishes on the surgery. I’m sorry you have to go through it. Hopefully you will get some pre op Versed.
Up from naptime, having a Manhattan. Dinner tonight is chicken with rice, asparagus, and mushrooms with a mushroom/Herb de Provence sauce. Surfing YouTube a bit.
but I’ll use the Spanish version of chorizo as that’s easier to find here.
Completely different texture, but still tasty.
They didn’t even come out to say good-bye?! That is really assholish.
Welcome to Corporate America.

Ouch! Heal quick, and listen to the nurses.[Mom]And don’t pick at it[/Mom]
I bought my car in 2018 and then retired. I used to drive a couple of hours a day so now looking at my less than 100,000 miles on the odometer just shocks me.
Carmen is a 2014 Rio that I bought used in 2018. She has 83,380 miles as of thius morning.
The fractures have displaced and need plates and screws and nails and bolts.
What? No duct tape, baling wire or WD-40?
I hope that you heal quickly.

I drove my car out of the dealership in 2018 too. I was only driving 7 miles each way to work by then, so it was pretty low mileage even before I retired. It currently has ~65K miles on it. Once it’s jump started, I’ll get back to driving (about a month ago, a headlight came on and wouldn’t go off, so it drained my battery. First thing I’ll do then is take it to the dealership, which I have to find the closest Hyundai to me)
(((BBBoo)) - sending all flavors of healthy healing thoughts your way!
JtC - thanks for your input. I absolutely won’t do any head-high kicking! Not that I ever could… Just nice and easy stretching and such.
It wasn’t enough that I was organizing the storage room. I had to pull several storage bins out of a basement closet. FCD joined me and we tossed a lot of trash, filled a box of stuff to go on Marketplace, and filled another box to go to the shop. Good times!
Tomorrow, Otis will go to doggie daycare and grooming while we go to the boat and fill the water tanks… finally! Well, we’ll go to breakfast first (actually second, after dropping the dog off. And with luck, it’ll take less than 2 hours at the boat.
Now, tho, sleepy time.
Late night (and getting up at 4:30am means it’s been nearly 18 hours since sleepage so I should get a good night’s rest tonight).
My 2017 Dodge got traded in with about 78,000 miles on it, I’m doing about 500 miles a month along with trips to brother’s and other short vacations, plan on about 10,000 miles/yr so the new Hyundai should last me until I’m 80 or so.
And like FCM, off to Slumberland I go. Catch you up whenever I arise tomorrow.
We had our weekly dinner out. My lovely wife had seafood and I had a small steak, prepared a bit over-salted but still tasty.
I got many tasks done today, and will continue to tick them off my list in order of urgency x importance. A writing group tomorrow and meeting a writer acquaintance for lunch later in the week.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 44 degrees Ferret Height(6.667 Centipedes) outside.
What? No duct tape, baling wire or WD-40?
Duct tape, not WD-40. “If it doesn’t turn and it should, use WD-40. If it turns and it shouldn’t, use duct tape.”
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 5c/42f with a predicted high of 13c/56f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Just so we’re fucking clear, those fucking clouds aren’t your friends.”
I wasted a beautiful day yesterday lying about on the couch.
You weren’t feeling right, that’s not a waste of a day, that’s looking after yourself. I hope you feel better today!
Hope I can find something on TV worth watching. So many streaming options and so few that entertain me. First World problems.
Did you find anything exciting to keep yourself entertained?
I’ve clocked out for the last time.
I am sorry that your time there has come to an end, and also that management didn’t find a few minutes to say goodbye to you. That’s just rude, even if you are at home and they’re not, they could have scheduled something for your last day.
Going in for open reduction internal fixation surgery on my left arm tomorrow,
Eeek! Wishing you all the best for successful surgery, and post-surgery supervision by the little ‘un!
Carmen is a 2014 Rio that I bought used in 2018. She has 83,380 miles as of thius morning.
Keith is from 2016, he came to me in 2019 and has passed the 35K miles barrier.
Yesterday was a busy day after irk as I had to make campus food for three days. I’ve done all of it except chopping up some melon for Friday as I didn’t have enough tubs left. I will just wash up the ones I’ve used today when I get home, and chop some more fruit for Friday. As I was in the kitchen, I made a start on dinner as well. I’d got some spinach to use up and had some chicken thawed out too but hadn’t decided what to do with it.
I didn’t want to make curry because we had that the night before, and may go out for curry tonight. Instead, I made a variation of pasta primavera so I could throw in some veggies. I thought it was nice, but having scoffed it, ‘im indoors told me he doesn’t really like pesto. The leftovers are in the freezer with a label on to remind me not to give them to him!
I was up stupidly early to get dressed, get my hair washed and dried, then pack up stuff for work, tend to cats, make and drink tea, and get out of the house, all within an hour of getting out of bed. Now I’m at the office and enjoying the relative peace as Troublesome Minion is working from home due to eye appointments today. No meetings in my calendar either, so hopefully I can get on with writing staff reviews ![]()
Thank you all for the good wishes and moral support. Off to the sawbones hospital for a protracted session of percussive maintenance.Duct tape and WD would cost extra. My daughter will fetch me back to her house for an overnight stay. Sadly no kitty here for cuddles but three grand babies to look after me. Good drugs in my near future.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out with a dense fog advisory in effect until ten a.m. The predicted high is 78 and sunny this afternoon. We shall procure provisions for today’s big adventure. I will make peas ‘n carrots, mac ‘n cheese and rolls for sup. OYKW will go and procure fried chikin from the burly butcher sto’. We shall sup well. The afternoon will be spent in RDOS inactivities.
{{{BBBOO}}} I guess you are in surgery by now. Best wishes for a successful surgery, easy healin’ and good drugs. Good to know you will have expert overnight care. Will you have a bionic arm?
BooFae enjoy your troublesome minion free day.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Oh how I suffer!
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
