(Old) Digging things up in the MMP

Up from naptime. I dreamed I was loading package cars < cheks CBA to see if I can get paid for this > Having the usual Old Fashioned and bacon cheeseburger with fries and corn. Spot is having dry, flavorless bits.

Indeed.

Congrats!

Brought to you by the doorman?

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 41 degrees Ferret Height(5 Centipedes) The Pollening starts today.

Yellow haze, all in my brain,
Trees have airborne sex, I inhale the same
Can’t keep my sinuses free, no matter how I try,
'Scuse me, while I sneeze into the sky

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 7c/44f with a predicted high of 10c/50f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Overcast fucking sadness.”

Yes, getting back to an exercise class that’s gentle enough for her would be a good idea if you could persuade her to do it.

The stuff that washes out is a good way to start. I may have to change the colour I use because it’s getting harder and harder to find it.

That would be better for him than fish, a kitteh will keep him occupied and entertained, and he’ll get more of a sense of purpose having her to look after.

Are they the really tiny ones that are so fiddly to change?

Conga-rats! That’s perfect timing as your previous job comes to an end. I hope everything works out for you and you enjoy the new job.

Yesterday was quiet and uneventful which is how I like my Mondays to be. I worked at home, nipped out to the supermarket at lunchtime, and vegged on the sofa while ‘im indoors made curry for dinner.

Today will be a bit busier as I have irk, and I need to do campus food for the rest of the week, and it’s my turn to make dinner. I have some chicken thawing, and there’s a bag of spinach I need to use so I’m thinking either a curry, or some kind of pasta primavera type of thing to use the spinach as I can add some carrots, peas and beans to it. Decisions, decisions!

My bladder demanded I awake at 4:20am so decided to check to see if the Moon was out or obscured by clouds. Wonder of wonders it’s out and about 80% eclipsed, totality will start in about a half-hour so guess I am up for the day. Since I’m up so early, may make a Brauschweiger run when the stores open at 7am so I can get back home in time for my 10am Hearing checkup. After that much excitement for one morning I’ll probably vegetate for the afternoon and maybe go to the gym later. Nappage is a definite possibility. At least it is in the mid-50’sF outside (heading to 72F later) and no rain in the area.

Coppertone, ah, planned emergency… :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

JtC, I have natural gas heating so the price is what the Gas District charges me each month. So far it’s been less than in most years due to a mild winter and should really start going down as we climb into the 70’s.

red, I almost always wear a cap when I go outside to referee soccer or do anything around the yard, given my hair is pretty sparse up too.

doggio, happy heaving and hope the pollen is a little smaller than that…

And totality in about 10 minutes, don’t know if it will photograph or not, we’ll see. Have a good 2sday all.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 57 Amurrkin out and cloudy, so no eclipse viewin’ for da bear. The predicted high is 76 and partly cloudy. It’s laundry day. It’s all I can do to sit still as I am so overjoyed. A few errands need to be done, so those will get achieved this mornin’. That leaves the rest of the day for RDOS sloth. Since sup is leftovers all tnat needs to be done is nuke and eat.

JtC I have been known to pre-chop stuff when a big cook time such as turkey day approaches. I think it’s a good idea to do that for everyday since I use a lot of onion, celery, peppers and such.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, laundry and errands await! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

And the clouds showed up just in time to obscure the eclipsed moon. Have broken fast and will shortly get ready for my early shopping run.

Rainy today. Heater blowing cool air again and not stopping running for hours. Maybe this has something to do with the water issue, others have said their heat is off.

Rainy obscuration of the eclipse as I expected. I remember seeing a blood moon thru Daughter’s telescope when we lived in FL - really cool! But even if it had been clear here, I doubt I could have seen much as it would have been low on the horizon and we live amidst trees. Oh well…

Regarding caps, FCD loves these. He has one and is planning to order another. He’s not a fan of baseball caps but he is all skin up top, so a hat is a necessity.

JtC - I wasn’t wanting you to yea-or-nay the videos so much as alert me if there’s something you think is way wrong and/or dangerous for a n00b like me. Nothing about the ones I’ve seen tingles my spidey-sense, but since you know stuff about it, I’d appreciate any comments you might care to share. I’ve followed along with a couple and am appalled at how bad my balance is for some basic moves. I had no idea!

I woke to rain and 32 Ferrets (but no Centipedes  ) and according to weather radar, it’ll rain on and off till early afternoon. There’s a little residual snow, mostly in areas under the treeline where the rain was less effective, but we’re promised upper 40 and that bodes ill for the remaining flakes. Since we’re most like not going to the boat, I don’t know what today holds. We’ll see what we see.

I need to cogitate further about the stove/oven situation in the galley. The stovetop I bought ages ago may not work with the pots I have. I hate the thought of buying all new cookware just for the boat - it’s an induction-top style and I failed to take heed when I bought it. I need to see what, if any, of my pots are magnetic. That will determine my next step. Always something, right?

Anyway, Happy Tuesday!!

i believe in slop, slip, slap. i have many hats. usually i wear baseball caps. for fancy-er things i have found The Original Scally Caps | Newsboy, Irish Flat Caps | Boston Scally Co
they are very addicting. i have bought way too many. they make it really easy because they have many payment options and i don’t have to dig for my card. they ship very quickly. i also have brimmed hats as well.

men’s fashion should turn back to wearing hats.

Howdy, folks! Were you up early enough to see the eek-lipse? Neither was I. I’m not even sure I have the right day.

I’m somewhat sore from yesterday’s workout/therapy thing. My right foot’s arch is right on the edge of a cramp. That’s worrisome. Some of the exercises looked impossible with my state of balance. I skipped those and did what I could. I made it through the whole thing.

This part of the state is big in the RV biz. The radio tells me there is a protest about a kind of wood used in RVs. “RVs shouldn’t kill orangutans.” I don’t understand this well enough to explain it, though.

Maybe I’ll get a haircut today.

Hear, hear!

I just pulled the last tissue from the box in the studio. A four pack is on the grocery list.

Have you considered putting in a request to the Kroger store that you usually shop? IME, Kroger is good about taking special orders.

One Thanksgiving about 30 years ago, my niece rode up to Indiana with me in my vehicle (her folks were ahead of us). The whole weekend, it was about 34F and raining. On the way home, we determined that if there was such a place as hell, it wasn’t hot, it was 34F and raining. Pure misery.

I didn’t realize that induction cooktops had specific pan requirements. Upon looking it up, all of mine, with the possible exception of the 7” nonstick that I use for scrambled aigs would fit the bill.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. On the agenda today is putting together my documentation for getting my DL changed tomorrow. Other than that, it’s a day of sloth.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good morning.

It’s cloudy and 45F at the moment. The day will remain cloudy with occasional rain, and the daytime high will be 54F.

I missed the lunar eclipse, but by all accounts, I probably wouldn’t have seen it because of clouds.

Johnny, congrats on the new position. I’m glad you finally found something and that the start aligned with your last day of work at the former job.

As of right now, the cost for regular unleaded at the gas station near me is $4.09 a gallon, and premium (which both my husband and I must use) is $4.55 a gallon. Part of that is due to the stupid carbon tax here, and part of that is due to the craziness going on. Thank Og I do not have to commute anymore.

JtC, I was also going to suggest a silk or satin do cap for your hubby. But, others beat me to it.

I wasted a beautiful day yesterday lying about on the couch. I’ve been fighting the dizzy (cue attendant nausea) the past few days. They come and go, and yesterday was kind of bad. So, I just lounged on the couch. I was pretty annoyed. I dealt with these a few years ago, and they never did figure out what was going on. All my labs were good; my heart, everything. I don’t see the point in going to the doctor. I already know I need to lose weight and get back to more regular exercise, which is what they told me last time when they couldn’t figure things out.

I need to tidy up the kitchen today and sweep both yesterday’s and today’s dog hair up. Those dogs shed a LOT. I did a lot of adulting yesterday morning, so today will just consist of some household chores. At least, that’s the plan for now.

When I first met my husband, he was big into baseball/trucker caps. Eventually, he stopped wearing caps, and now he only wears a baseball cap when the little hair remaining on top of his head is unruly. He is mostly bald on top.

Alrighty, time for more coffee. Then the chores. By afternoon, I’ll be able to catch up on trash TV and a couple of other shows. Did anyone catch the first episode of DTF St. Louis? I think it might be good, so I plan to watch the second episode next week.

Morning, all. Too cloudy to see the eclipse. Ah, well.

Mr. brown also has issues with skin cancer on his head. He has had a couple of divots removed, and the last one was an unpleasant experience. So much so, that he refuses to go back for skin checks at the dermatologist anymore. If it’s skin cancer that does him in at the end, I won’t be surprised.

I’ve had a morning of setting up a new payment system from our income-producing Schwab IRAs. Schwab used to have a cool system called “Intelligent Income”, which for a modest fee handled all the payment chores and also provided free access to CFAs as part of their service. It worked really, really well, and we were very pleased. But, like all things that work well and that we love, they stopped providing it. But the investment strategies and portfolio robo-rebalancing part of the system remain the same, Schwab assures us.

So starting this month, I had to manually set up our recurring monthly payments. I think I have it all set up properly, with tax withholding for both fed and state. We’ll see with the next paychecks at the end of this month if I’ve goofed them up.

We’re expecting a new rug to be delivered today. It goes underneath our dining room table and will replace an old cheesy Home Depot rug that has been there for about twenty years. We moved the table, rolled up the old rug and removed it, then vacuumed and mopped the vinyl plank flooring underneath with laminate vinyl floor cleaner. The dining room is right next to the kitchen, and greasy cooking steam settles in unused corners, mixes with dust, and becomes gummy grime that needs going over four times to get it really clean. So that’s done and I’m taking a load off while we await delivery of the new rug and Mr. brown escorts the old rug to its final resting place at the dump.

Much to Chloé’s delight, we were a threesome again this morning. It was too cloudy in the west to see the eclipse. Rats.

I thought they were on my phone, but they were not. I’ll have to pull out my book and transcribe.

One thing I DO NOT miss about Raleigh is the pine pollen.

We went to the Mart of Wal this morning to return the unders I bought for FCD yesterday as he found 10 brand new pairs in the bottom drawer. Why he had those and continued to wear stretched-out, droopy, no longer tighty whities… who knows?? But that wasn’t the only reason for the trip. He wanted 3 more pairs of the cargo shorts that I got for him - he needs shorts - we had to donate all his others as he’s no longer size 46. He also picked up bathing trunks as his old ones, beside being too big, were so old that the elastic waistbands were totally shot. And as we walked towards the garden center, he saw t-shirts, fairly heavy work-type shirts, so he had to get 3 of those.

In the garden center, we got 3 100’ hoses. The ones we have are either 50’ or 75’ and most have leaks (we have either 4 or 5 old ones.) So once the weather is decent, we’ll stretch out the oldies and see if any of them are worth keeping. But that’s a chore for a warm day.

Bulbs are starting to push greenery skyward - I saw some that I’m pretty sure I transplanted to the newly landscaped area. Or maybe they were there before the new plantings went in. I guess we’ll see when they bloom.

Since getting home, I’ve been organizing some of the mess in the storage room. Slowly but surely, I’m restoring some order. I also hung the wireless thermostat on the side of the 3-D printer cabinet and I was able to turn on the heat, which was nice. We’re taking a lunch break and I’ll give FCD maybe another hour of my labors. It’s still rainy and dreary and cold - mid-30s with permeating damp. Rain will continue on and off till the wee hours, then cloudy tomorrow. Warming quite a bit after - low 80s forecast on Saturday!!!

Anyway, I’ll do a bit more manual labor before plopping in my recliner and finishing my latest lap robe. Hope I can find something on TV worth watching. So many streaming options and so few that entertain me. First World problems.

I was back in 200 Middle White today. Which didn’t seem bad till the end when they sent a surge of irregs. Which bricked up 2 of my cars. Plus one irreg jammed another under the boxline cages and knocked one off the track, so that took maintenance 15min to prybar it back. After heaving, I went and voted in the primaries, importunately there was no box for “give those responsible a fair trial, then bury them at a crossroads with a stake through the area the heart would be.” I also went and got Carmen’s oil changed. Now it’s naptime.

This.

I’m a firm believer in mise en place as well.

I like those as well.

He needs this one

It’s gotten better. I remember one time in band camp it was so think visblity was less than a quarter of a mile.

Good afternoon all. The braunschweiger run was a bust, all the stores only had tubes that expired today so maybe try again Thursday or Friday. The hearing aid appointment was quick, no problems with them and my next appointment is in 6 months. Also stopped at the Home Despot and got a new doorbell, I have been without one for a couple of years and since I need to get an electrician for a couple of other small problems, might as well get that set up again.

Red, interesting idea, but all the stores near me (Kroger, Publix and Wal-Mart) do not carry it so I’m willing to make a 20-mile drive every 6-8 weeks. Gets me out of the house.

At the gym now taking a break and will doy second set here in a bit. Then home and get down to the soccer stuff. Take care all

Not Jane doe, but I’m also following the hunt for lentil stew, so thank you for sharing the recipe. That looks like something hubby might like, but I’ll use the Spanish version of chorizo as that’s easier to find here. I’ve even seen chicken chorizo at the nearby Aldi.

Work is busy - everyone’s trying to get a bunch of projects launched and I’m hopping between tasks. Not sure it’s going to slow down any time soon.

Also trying to get stuff planned for the pre-cruise activities in the Netherlands - enough stuff to be interesting, but not too much, or my parents will get worn out. My mom still wants to do everything, but she’s definitely slowed down some more after her recent knee replacement. It’s not so easy to recover from joint replacement when you’re over 80.

And spring’s popping out all over - yesterday I swatted my first mosquito. In March. :frowning:

And you’re OK in the Nashville bowl? EVERYBODY in middle Tennessee has a couple of regular OTC allergy meds that they turn to.

Hope that you’re undizzy soonest, taters.

I may not have been clear. Kroger and Publix will special order it if you want to buy 6-8 weeks worth.

I’ve used both Mexican style and Spanish (I can’t get that in soy, but it’s not as greasy as the former) so that works, given that the recipe calls for Spanish. I’ll check for chicken chorizo at Aldi the next time I go.
