(Old) Don't Sleep On The President's Day Sales - A Mattress MMP

I don’t buy that big expensive shampoo and conditioner set that linked to, I use the much smaller 8 oz bottle cause who’s got 45 bucks for a bottle of shampoo!

Use less than you think you need, it is super concentrated.

Holy cow, that kind of cold needs three comforters at least. I really hope your financial situation turns around soon.

You are going to have a big crowd of people for the eclipse in about six weeks, can you maybe make some viewing boxes to sell to the crowd? I saw one once that sat on a coffee table with a small circular bit with a hole in the middle and a larger circular focus bit closer to the base so it looked like a microscope.

Now that I have money to travel and waste spend on experiences, I’d happily pay a hundred bucks or so for such a thing if I saw a vender selling them. (If you come up with one, I’d happily pay you two hundred bucks and shipping.)

I have been looking for a picture, but my google fu is failing me, hopefully someone else will find one for us.

Speaking of not being able to find things, does anyone know how to make a poll? Arizona allows one to vote in both primaries as long as you pay attention to the dates. (currently I’m registered as a Rep. That will change after their primary.) I want to make a poll about who to vote for that will help piss a certain someone off and just can’t figure it out.

He is indeed a very gorgeous boy!

Well, to be honest, the key came from the guy who usually opens up, presumably the school trusts him and he trusts me so…

Pants…wearing…morning??

Not a bad idea…I probably won’t do it, being me, but a good idea nonetheless.\

And it’s 12 minutes until Sunday, so bedtime is as soon as I send this and shutdown the computer.

There was no earth-shattering “kaboom” today. Things went damn smoothly, for a Saturday night.

We had around 20 online orders - not bad considering it’s been up & running for, like, two weeks and there’s been almost no advertising other than a few signs in the lobby & word of mouth (but don’t underestimate small-town chatter) and I think we didn’t mess any of those up.

So SHINY!! :star_struck:

My childhood dog was named Tina as well! She was a Very Good Dog, but then, I think all childhood doggies probably are.

Me, too. We learned A Thing tonight!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 39 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 67 and N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization wherein I shall plop myself in a pew as I don’t have to serve today. Of course I said that last Sunday and then ended up servin’. However, at last report the other Verger is all healthy and intends to be there. After that we shall return to da cave for a sammich N.O.L., nappage, day drinkin’ and so forth. Sup shall be grilled chikin strips, sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

Bright Tree what a keee-yooote doggie! I want to skritch those weenie ears!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

It did, till about 4AM when she went to the bathroom without asking for help, then fell and hurt her shoulder. I know she doesn’t want to inconvenience us and she wants to be as independent as possible, but her stubbornness is not only more inconvenient, but it’s dangerous. It’s not nice to want to shake a little old lady, is it? <deep cleansing breaths>

I got some good answers, and I’m to expect cataract surgery in the next 3-5 years. And my new specs should be ready in 2-3 weeks. All for $59 out of pocket - I’ve got good insurance.

I’d have a really tough time keeping snark under control if I had to do something like that. Eons ago at work, they tried some kumbya let’s all get along nonsense that got people more pissed off than anything. It didn’t help that the guy running it adopted the persona of the worst stereotype of a black Southern Baptist preacher that you can imagine. And, of course, we lost an entire day of productive work because of that idiocy. Another reason to love retirement.

As already mentioned, I’ve been up since 4. I read in bed till 6-ish, then tended the critters and fed my face. Once I’m done computering, I’ll read till the household awakens.

Today’s plans are making a pot roast with lots of carrots (FCD lurves carrots from pot roast) and much rollsucking. And other stuff as it develops. Or not. Whatevah!

Happy Sunday!

Morning!
Its Sunday so not only church, but a meal after church!
This is the second thing I check after waking.
The first is Wordle.

Mornin all. About 0730 here, clear skies 51/10 on the way to 75/24. Been reading about 90 minutes now. Would have preferred to sleep in but my wall-mates decided to get frisky early. Damn that would have been nice if only HL had been into such things. Sigh.

Anyhow, now running the shower until the water finally heats up. Yesterday at 5pm it took 15 minutes. I’m at the end of the building and apparently the bad end for HWH. You’d think here in the morning a lot of people would be up & getting the water moving. Evidently not so.

Can’t leave anyhow; other than Cracker Barrel & Hardees there are no breakfast eateries open before 9am on Sun. Besides, it’s stupid cold out there right now.

FCM, wanting to shake an old lady isn’t nice. But it sure is commonplace. It’s hard to remember they’re not deliberately trying to piss you off.

Shoe: glad the worknight went better. And a Sat to boot.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. It’s a balmy 32 degrees(ferret height, not centipede). Morning cleaning and afternoon sloth on the agenda. Spot was going to “help” me make my bed, but SQUIRREL!

He’s a Good Boy!

Rye whiskey.

Besides, hat would be close to a buck per hair for me at this point.

Make a voodoo doll, and use it to beat some sense into her?

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 7c/44f with no predicted change, and cloudy. Weather app says “Your moves are fucking weak, Sun. You need to fucking do better than this.” True, it was a lovely sunny day yesterday, today’s just grey.

Happy Doperversary, metal mouse

Yesterday turned out to be quite a busy one, I was up early for a Saturday to tend to the cats, then went to a couple of classes at the gym. Stopped off on the way home to get cat litter as we’re down to only one 30L bag, so now we have two more. Showered and got tidied up, then walked into town for lunch at the Good Chinese Place. Did a couple of errands and had arranged to meet 'im indoors in a pub.

More pubs ensued, it’s a mile walk home so we started off in The Posada, decamped across the road to the Lych Gate, then downhill towards home via the Clarendon and then the Combermere Arms. Ordered pizza on the walk home, collected it and had that for dinner. Leftovers for lunch today then!

It’s a quiet day in the house, not a day to be going out anywhere as there’s a football match on so a fair bit of traffic out there. I have no big plans for the day, I think 'im indoors is cooking tonight so I might just have a slothful afternoon on the sofa with a cat and a book.

Up, but not necessarily at 'em.

We’re headed out to youngest son’s place today for chili. Daughter will also be there. Also my college-attending grandson. Speaking of him, I got something in the mail yesterday looking for donations to a Seabee veteran’s organization. Turns out they give out annual scholarships, which is something I was unaware of for the past 34 years since retiring from the service. :man_facepalming: So I’ll be giving him the info to pursue the assistance.

My wife had cataracts removed, lenses implanted and Lasik surgery to correct her astigmatism ten days ago. I am just about used to seeing her without her glasses.

Now I’m wondering about snowman farts.

My dad sent me a picture of his incision - lots and lots of staples. I’m actually delighted, because this is the first email he’s sent since before his surgery. So he’s getting back on track.

Such a cutie!

New word for me. Seems to be a reasonable action for American Oreos, deep-fried or otherwise.

Better to put the energy into cleaning, gardening, etc. Hope she learns from her experience and wakes you up next time. {{{Moooooom}}}

Happy Doperversary @The_Stainless_Steel_Rat Hope you remember your borrowed keys.

Made cornbread today with extra sugar for hubby to go with the chili I made yesterday. Chili was a bit extra spicy, so I added some notes to the recipe. Last time it was a bit boring, and this time I overshot.

Still avoiding paperwork. I’m getting good at it.

Happy Sunday!

I have a small, easily detachable keyring attached to the main ring that I use for temporary keys (think rental cars, house keys for somewhere I’m staying as a guest, etc).

Growing up, my mom would often put a pot roast in the oven when she went to mass. My baby sister and I could’ve eaten our weight in the carrots that surrounded the hunk-o-beast, so she would divide the roast into two dutch ovens to have enough carrots for us.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, Sunday dinner in the crock (roasted garlic, mushroom, barley and vegetable stew and now my apartment smells amazing from roasting said garlic) and fixing to do KP / weekday meal prep. I’ll get back into the album once chores are done.

It was 28 ferrets when I walked Nelson this morning. We were both in our heavy coats and he was comfy enough to take his dear, sweet time smelling things, especially around the new neighbors’ apartment. I think they’ve brought their dog home now (she was staying with one of their kids during the move), given his sudden interest in the lawn in front of their home.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good morning all. Seems to be that when I stay up to around midnight I get up at about 7am, so that seems to be a pretty good routine. Heading over to Longhorn Steakhouse in a couple of hours for the Big Sunday Dinner and then unlock the gym at 1:30pm, and then maybe more pedaling, but we’ll see. It’s 44F now, going up to 67F and into the 70’s tomorrow with no rain to be seen. Have acquired the Sunday NY TImes and mailed a couple of letters and refilled the toilets, so I have been mildly active for a Sunday morning. Now watching ‘Kara and Nate’ on the You Tube and feeling the house warming up a bit.

So, no boom today. Boom tomorrow. There’s always a boom tomorrow. What? Look, somebody’s got to have some damn perspective around here! Boom. Sooner or later, BOOM. (Susan Ivanova from the TV show Babylon 5.

Truth

FCM, older people get stubborner, IMHO, about doing things ‘for themselves’. And you’ve told us she’s fallen at her apartment a lot, so I suspect this will not be the last time. Hang in there.

Boofae, sounds like you enjoyed the pub crawl (that’s what we call it here, think you do to).

Cookie, enjoy the family time.

Onward!!

See, I’d already have considered lifting a 30 # sack of anything to be equivalent to a gym session.

2 sacks = 2 gym sessions.

Damn. I could go for a Double Stuf right now.

Several weeks ago, one of the guys at work introduced me to the wonder that is deep-fried Uncrustables.

Now, I’m familiar with the product. Thaw, eat. Simple. Zero prep besides wait time and opening a cellophane bag. Good for kid lunchboxes.

But this Representative of Chaotic Good ™, bless his likely artery-clogged heart, brought in a box & chucked a few of those bad boys directly into the fryer on a slow night, for just a few seconds, and oh. my.

Practice makes perfect.

Oh, yeah! Coupla days ago, Sweet Manager shared with me a cornbread casserole thingie her mom made, and last night when I was working the drive-thru window - and even I had bundled into a scarf, hat, sweatshirt over my cardigan, plus two neck warmers AND made a cuppa tea - she plunked down a Tupperware of her mom’s homemade soup in front of me and essentially (very kindly) ordered me to heat & eat it.

Yes, ma’am!

Plus, last night, there were treats for a crew birthday, including a few trays of those mini cupcakes from any grocery store, yanno? The ones barely bigger around than a half-dollar coin, piled high with decorated buttercream?

Was gonna have just one, or maybe two before the teen boy inhaled them.

I think I stopped at four.

Wanted Needed some sugary comfort!

Also, before they evaporated, one tray was decorated in pink/blue/purple frosting with unicorn sprinkles - they went the fastest.

'Tis true: people eat with their eyes.

Now it’s nearly 10:30 a.m. and I’m settling into some mashed potatoes and freshly seared sirloin for “breakfast” cuz that makes perfect sense in my topsy-turvy little world.

A fried egg would’ve made it all perfect …

Then off to post-bio-break Sleep V 2.0 before returning (a scant 12.5 hrs after leaving) for an open → close shift with mostly the chicks who closed with me last night.
(But nOboDy WaNtS tO wOrK these days. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: )

I’m showered and dressed. Rollsuckage is done. Egg salad is made. Critter fountain is clean. I’m about to plant myself in the recliner for a bit to read and chill until it’s time to put the hunk o’ cow in the pot.

Mornin’ everyone.

You all have been very chatty, which is normal, but I haven’t been able to post here for day due to life.

It’s 48 degrees Fahrenheit and cloudy outside. The expected high is 50 degrees Fahrenheit; rain should move in within a few hours. The mountains are supposed to be stormy with snow accumulation. I almost committed to a trip to two east-side offices starting tomorrow but held back at the last moment. I’m so glad I opted not to go.

I am not able to reply individually to everyone because the pups keep me going, but I want to send yays, hugs, and boos as appropriate.

FCM, I totally get your frustration; I secretly felt that way about my MiL sometimes, too. I channeled that frustration into a hard chore.

Work was very hectic all this week, and I even worked some on Friday, even though it was my RDO. I also put in some time yesterday. I’m not super stoked about returning to work tomorrow, but those are the breaks.

It’s the usual Sunday agenda, laundry, some tidying with taxes thrown in just for fun.

The pups are clamoring for attention, so I have to run. Take care!

What shoe wants, shoe gets. Eventually. Within reason.

Anyway, I spent some time thinking about how much I wanted a nice runny yolk, and then how much time I’d spend lying in bed trying to fall back asleep while thinking about that damn yolk, and then how if I’d just started making it I’d be eating it already, and …

… yeah … :fried_egg:

… yum. Definitely worth de-coupling ass from chair.

Plus, ratties got the bits of egg white (not my favorite part) and they are *HAPPY right now, my friends.
Soft, high fat, high protein food … hope the bebehs get some before those big mamas gobble it all down!

That sucks. Your time off work should be exactly that.
