Thanks, kind nurse! The pain is quite sharp, but usually goes away after several seconds, thankfully. It’s nearly impossible to even speak meantime.
It’s just weird how it comes so randomly. I smoke, therefore I cough, but I can go months between episodes, to the point that I pretty much forget about it.
I was gonna post a whine over in mini-rants about my papazan cushion always sliding down. Then I debated starting a thread asking peeps here for advice.
Then it occurred to me to Google the problem. Boy howdy, were there lotsa suggestions!
I need to comb through them (some of the results are about how to keep the bowl itself from moving, which isn’t a problem at all) and then see what’s easiest for me.
I think many of the solutions involve a sewing machine, which I don’t have, but I can hand-stitch something.
Probably some kind of loops.
Meanwhile, it’s making my only chair not so comfy. Bah.
Oh, and Monkey just jumped onto a low shelf on my bookshelf, knocked ALL THE THINGS off, then hopped back out into the nest of assorted papers and stuff, and chilled there for a while.
My two both enjoy verifying that we have working gravity. I suspect that in Allie’s case, she’s also getting opinionated aboout what items should be out. Buddy just makes room for himself where he pleases, and if that involves knocking human stuff down, too bad for the humans.
Those muscles are proportionately sooooo strong that when something tweaks them into a spasm it hurts like a you-know-what. After all those muscles work hard breathing 24/7/365 for a lifetime. They never get to rest and recoup like leg muscles that get to loll around doing not much at all a great deal of the time.
Intercostal muscles are tiny but mighty-it behooves us to never piss them off (not that you are, my dear).
I used to volunteer with cat rescue and have taken hundreds of kittens in for the big snip. Never lost a single one, even with the vet who did early neutering. It will be OK.
(Says the woman who carried her newly spayed cat around on a pillow until she deigned to go to the kitchen for a snack while I was cooking dinner.)
VBC has been known to get tired of GG for whatever reason and head out into the catio then sit by the door and smack GG in the face with the door every time he pokes his nose in. I’m fairly sure that dogs are jerks as well, so watch out for one of them figuring that lovely trick out.
I took out some kitchen trash, so I’m not a completely useless lazy bum!
The ratties are enjoying a feast of bran flakes, dried corn (actually popcorn) some doggy treats, birdseed mix, and the crumby bits from the bottom of a Triscuit bag - good food for bebehs and their tiny mouths.
Monkey got a can of Fancy Feast.
I brought home some pizza but really not feelin’ it, so I’m having restorative soup. It’s a Vietnamese pho, so I’ve doctored it up with fresh cilantro, green onion, and a bit of oil from a jar of Angry Grandma chili crisp.
It’s very yummy!
It’s this brand - I highly recommend it:
I intend to be drooling into my pillow before my co-workers have even started their closing duties!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I dreamed that Spot stole an egg from my pet turtle, and the turtle chased him down and was dragging him around.
Yeah, you need to. But glad you made it safe
If you’re picking up someone at a transportation hub, how can you not expect baggage?
Spot was rather small for a month or two,
[Airplane]Well, let’s see. First the earth cooled. And then the dinosaurs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died and they turned into oil…[/Airplane]
But welcome back! : tacklehug :
Da Jungle dropped off my new computer chair today. After geeting over his feral hatred of change, Spot really enjoyed knocking the Allen wrench off the kitchen table.

red sorry your boss is being a PITA about ADA accommodation.(most of those things don’t change, unless the Lord Himself wanders through for some handshakes)
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/47f with a predicted high of 12c/53f with rain showers. Weather app says “This rain is brought to you by the fucking letters B and S, and the number of the fucking beast.” Weather app does not like rain then…and it’s wetter than an otter’s pocket out there today.

Boo I hope you unleash the full force of your displeasure on Lyft for their behaviour. I’ll tell the ninja spiders to start packing for a trip!
shoe take care of yourself, I hope you’re feeling better after some Monkey snuggles.
sari you’re doing the right thing getting the pups neutered, it’s a simple process though and shouldn’t cause them any problems apart from some massive sulking afterwards! I brought Shadow home after having his pompoms off (he was an adult cat too), with instructions from the vet to give him soft food for a couple of days. Think chicken, rice, scrambled eggs etc. He looked at that with an expression that said “What do you call this? Where’s my tuna?” and promptly wolfed down an entire tin of fish.
JtC both sets of neighbours are idiots, so the fact their rubbish doesn’t get emptied is not really a surprise to us. 'im indoors looked at the orange tag on their bin, apparently they’ve put stuff in there in plastic bags but recycling is meant to be loose. That’s why it got rejected, although I suspect they have put bag of normal rubbish in there because their other bin is always overflowing. Last time their recycling didn’t get emptied, they’d cunningly put a collapsed carboard box across the top to disguise whatever else was in there. The binmen moved the cardboard aside and pulled out the frying pan underneath…and left it in the middle of their front pathway.
Right…better get on with what I’m allegedly being paid for.
I was out cold shortly after posting. Woke after a lengthy & very deep sleep for a rather urgent potty break, and am now guzzling water & chilling with y’all for a bit before Round II (Sleep Boogaloo).
And yes, Monkey was between my shins in the center of the bed where he’d maximize how much he was in my way - very snuggly!
He obligingly hopped down and accompanied me to the bathroom, for supervisory purposes of course, and is currently perched in a window looking out at the empty yard to make sure nothing suspicious is happening to the rapidly-melting snow.
I feel much better already. The soup was indeed restorative, and sleep is always healing.
Its supposed to be almost 60 here. In Ohio. In Feb
Yes, my D is prescription and at times, when I was first given it years ago, you can be given a high dose for a short time. Must call dr.
No weird dream. Thats weird itself!
I’m hoping to fall back asleeps; love all of you guys.
Back asap.
Yes, 60 indeed. Between the weird weather and my new ‘friend’ Perry the platopause, I never know how to dress anymore. I opted for t-shirt and lightweight pants. I am currently sitting here typing while a ferocious poodle who is on my lap is alternating between licking my arm and head butting me so that I will pet her head.
Our local hospice is aces! They were amazing thru FIL’s last days, so we’ll be in contact when we need to.
It’s so dependent on the kid. For as smart as she is, Roxy honestly didn’t care if she had pants full of poop. Whatever she was doing at the time was far more important. She was 4 before she finally decided that she’d be better off using the toilet, and even now, she waits till the last possible second.
Her brother, on the other hand, at 2 is very nearly out of diapers - in fact, he’s in pull-ups except at bedtime. Of course, there was the incident when they stayed with me last week - Roxy complained that her brother had pooped, and when I took him to get changed, well, it was an epic mess - a 4-wipe cleanup! Yeah, it’s a challenge.
Well look who the cat dragged in!! Believe it or not, I was wondering about you not too long ago. Welcome back!
I doubt my spaghetti sauce is anything close to traditional Italian, but we like it. And I use oregano and basil, so there! I’m thinking back - there was a family with an Italian name about 6 or 7 houses down from us, but apart from avoiding their kids (the boys were bullies) we didn’t have anything to do with them. So we had no one to teach us the old country ways! Anyway, my sauce is a variation on the sauce my mom made, and my daughter’s is a variation of her own. The evolution of cooking!
At the risk of jinxing myself, we’ve never had cats that did this. Not even Taz, who got into everything. Maybe we just adopted mutants?
FCD left before 6:30 - he wanted to be at the hospital when the cardiologist made his rounds, which he does early. I guess we’ll find out if MIL will come here today or if they’ll be able to fix her heart. I don’t know the criteria for valve replacement, but if they can’t do it, then she’ll be coming here to die. Knowing doesn’t make it any easier…
Once we know she’s coming here, we’ll take her first to her apartment to pack. I’ll also take a cooler so we can empty her fridge. And we need to bring her shower chair - the little stool we have isn’t ideal. And who knows what else - probably another change of address to have her mail sent here. Thankfully, all of her bank accounts are joint with FCD, so when she does die, we won’t have any hassle with the money. And her cremation is prepaid and will be handled by the same folks who did FIL. Once she’s gone, we’ll be taking a trek to Cades Cove - that’s where they want their ashes spread.
Depending on when we bring her here, I’ll pick a day to go see my mom. Meanwhile, Food Lion has Coke products and bags of jumbo shrimp at BOGO, so I’m heading there shortly.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 33 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 68 and N.O.S. for the day. We shall procure provisions this mornin’ which will lead to the need for nappage after bein’ out amongst the great unwashed. This evenin’ is the first of the Lenten soup and sammich and book discussions, which will go on for the next five Wednesdays. This will take care of sup today. As I mentioned earlier, I shall serve as facilitator for the discussions. Guess this means I should bother to go over the questions for this week and such.
Sticky_Buns :: tacklehug :: glad to see ya! Good to know you have a poodle that is willin’ to supervise and make sure you attend to your duties as servant in a timely manner.
Boo give 'em hell! Complain to everyone you can think of. Lyft and that driver deserve to be in all kinds of hot water.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother of bothers. I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Oh woe!
Wow. I leave you folks alone for 19 hours and there’s 50+ posts to read. Y’all are as yappy as those little dogs everybody at my former apartment had. And refused to control or discipline, but that’s a rant for another day.
Quick update on me then I’ll generate some responses to all your activities in a subsequent post.
Tue was a pleasant lazy breakfast wherefrom I last posted, minor erranding, collecting several Amazons from the POB, and a thought-provoking surprise.
There is an apartment complex going up a half-mile-ish from where HL & I lived & she still lives. A month or so ago they finally started leasing the first of their eventual two buildings. So I stopped by and took their tour.
Very nice. Roughly 200 units per 8-story building. All the modern toys. I could easily see living there. The location is not quite as good as HL’s, the complex is maybe 80% as zooty as HL’s but plenty zooty enough, while the price is correspondingly less too. Right now building 1 is already about 75% occupied & building 2 is expected to begin leasing in April or May. The whole complex will fill very quickly; lots of people are circling hungrily around building 2 already. Once the last unit rents, there won’t be an opening for a year or more. There are no other new-construction apartments being built in the zip code, nor are any planned; all the other mongo construction is condo$$$.
I was surprised at a) how much I’m enjoying living in a house with people, and b) how much I want a place just to myself.
So the good news is this place is out there. The bad news is I think the fuze on it is shorter than I’d prefer. If building 2 was opening in August that might suit the rest of my timeline better.
So overall, now I have a new ball of possibilities to juggle. A good problem to have individually speaking, but I’ve already got a LOT of balls in the air. Don’t wanna drop any.
My traveling pilot pal came up to join me for the evening & we went out for Greek while Mike the homeowner entertained his GF and they cooked live local lobsters. I had a beautiful whole Branzino with lemon potatoes & grilled veg. Pal had a gyro platter. We shared a pita + roasted pepper puree appetizer that resembled brick-red hummus, but tasted of … roasted peppers. Very yummy. And a bottle of OK Cabernet.
Lotta yakking about my living arrangements, his living arrangements, his GF of ~5 years who wants to get hitched, and my soon to be ex that shouldn’t have gotten hitched. This boys’n’girls stuff is an eternal mystery to us all. The more you play the game the less skilled you seem at it. Or at least the less skilled I seem at it. :Bewildered:
Talk turned to travel. He was going to work Wed afternoon & returning Thu; was I interested in tagging along to Kingston, Jamaica? He’d never been, but I sure have. Kingston is not a great layover. Ogther than an open-air jerk grill and beer stand in teh park across the street there’s nothing to do nearby and the area farther afield is not exactly safe for wandering gringos. So I demurred. But it got me thinking.
