(Old) Face Off Against Moanday: A Start Of Hockey MMP

Maybe it will sort itself out? I know for me, if I have gastro issues from coffee, it’s the fat in the cream that causes them. If I use low fat milk, I can still indulge my addiction enjoyable tradition.

I sure agree about the getting old thing!

I know, right? Holy moly, what a game! I thought they were toast after Penn scored in OT, and then again when Moore’s 2-point conversion was intercepted, but their pictures were featured under the definition of, “Don’t Quit!” last night. It was great fun to watch. Have fun on the trail!

Sorry about your Dawgs, swampy. But congrats to metal mouse!

That’s a lot like how I make cornmeal mush polenta, only I add Parmesan cheese, too. Poached egg on top with bacon on the side – a favorite breakfast treat!

A very fair observation. Ollie would probably lose to a 10 point squirrel.

It’s plenty ambitious enough, red! And the local chamber singers ensemble will be lucky to have you.

FCM, hope the meeting with Otis goes well.

Me, too. It’s already bad. Oh, well. The ordeal will be over soon.

I finally sorta-kinda cleaned my rain gutters, since rain is coming tomorrow. The fellow who usually cleans them was unexpectedly called for military duty and unable to get them done before his departure. I do have a back-up person, but he can’t get to it for another week or so. Climbing ladders with hard cement below is something I don’t want to do anymore. I’ve never broken a bone. (As my ex-husband once pointed out, “You’ve just never been hit hard enough.” To be clear, he never hit me.) I’d like to maintain the streak.

Dinner last night was a quite yummy little pizza made from various leftovers: Pizza dough which I always make, freeze and keep on hand, then topped with pesto sauce I’d made from the last of this year’s basil, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, leftover chicken and sun dried tomatoes. Threw on a little fresh mozzarella and Parmesan, and it was the perfect game night feast!

I plan to spend my time today learning about VoIP phone options and setting up broadband streaming. At some point, Ollie and I will take a walk. I also have plans to make a skillet-baked tahini chocolate chip cookie. Thanks, New York Times!

Hope everyone enjoys a fulfilling, pleasant Sunday, whatever you’re up to.

I may have to try that. I’ve got an overabundance of Pecorino in the fridge.

The management set up one of the communal rooms for a downsizing event. We took a bunch of stuff down there this morning, including bowls, a slow cooker, a bunch of those plastic water containers that you get for free everywhere, some drinking glasses and our pencil xmas tree. Whatever doesn’t get taken goes to the Salvation Army. There is much more to get rid of, but it’ll have to wait until the next event. Honestly, I doubt that much will be taken by other residents. Everyone here is in the same boat that we are: trying to get rid of crap before you die.

Took a walk afterward. Damn hip is still acting up, but I made it about a dozen blocks round trip. Now I need a nap.

I liked it, but I avoid pasta. I’d do it again.

Afternoon all. Post-dinner I made the mistake of driving past Handel’s Ice Cream shop so after a triple scoop of Butter Pecan in a waffle cone I decided to go to the gym (after thinking about it over a banana and mini-apple pie). At least the tackleball games are on the machines and they have some comfy chairs for breaks (sitting in one now). Will get about making suitable replies when I get home, never been any good on quoting and responding from here.

It is walnut falling season here. The black walnut trees are shedding their fruit. Picture things about the size and color of a lime falling from tree tops. Then they degrade into a yucky black goo, sometimes before they fall. In fact one goo-ed me on the shin while I was sitting on the porch. The neighbor has a metal roof, poor choice, I think.

Dog was very good at the park today, ran circles around some of the bigger guys, got into a dance with a little guy. 45 minutes instead of the typical 10, then time to go.

Church was great. The message-gossip bad.
Our choir is the best, people standing, raising arms, etc. People should be enthusiastic about Jesus. Amen, yes pastor, were comments around me.
Eating hash browns right now.
76 degrees.
Go Ravens.

I have adopted a sneech. No star belly on this one.

Howdy Y’all! I (OYKW felt heathenish today) deheathenated, had a really good maple and pee-kahn scone and attended the adult forum (Whiskypalian for Sunday skool) which I found interestin’ (Baby Priest is learnin’ us on the Revelation of John), had a sammich, achieved nappage, day drank and et sup. Also the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Quite the day for me!

I am surprised at myself for attendin’ the forum. BP had mentioned the topic to me last Wednesday when he and I were havin’ a general conversation. It peaked my interest. I don’t do Sunday skool as a rule. Never much liked it. As a young cub of fifteen my folks let me make the decision whether or not I wanted to go to Sunday skool. I chose not to go. Skippin’ church was not an option, but I have always liked church. OK, I had a point somewhere, I think. Oh yeah, I think I will like this discussion enough to attend regularly.

Sticky_Buns so sorry about your friend. Hospice is such a wonderful resource, and I am glad hospice is there for her and her family.

MOOOOOOM I have no idea what K-Pop is, but I am glad I don’t have to endure it. Better thee than me and all that.

Oopsie hope you had a great belated bday with your dad and bro.

*BBBOO I have read grumblin’ and moanin’ about awful coachin’ etc today. Of course none of them has ever coached a team themselves. Heck, I doubt half of ‘em could even find Athens (where UGA is located) on a map. Folks be stoopid.

JtC high temps here will be high 70s to low 80s this comin’ week. I might have to make soup and put on my woolies!

VanGo someone needs to make the effort to see what the neighbors are up to. Peach is just doin’ her part for the neighborhood watch.

I cleaned, I dusted, I changed Spot’s litter. I did laundry. When I folded the comforter and put it in the underbed drawer, Spot crawled in and napped on the fresh, warm comforter. I took out the trash and recycling. The Panthers forgot how to handegg. I napped. Now it’s hockey time.

I tweaked a back muscle stretching this morning.

Gordie was alway good inside the dogpark. Outside, he’d try to fight every other dog he saw.

“I can see you HOA Code violations, Henretta!”

Dogs be weird (says the woman who just held a convo with hers ).

Picked up the cotton balls and rubbing alcohol at the dollar sto’, as well as a door mat and one hair catcher for the tub. I also cleaneded up the bathroom after KP. Go me!

I did some more sorting of pics and stuff. My dad’s side of the family was really big into sending post cards 100 or so years ago. Some are interesting, some are downright beautiful.

Now for chillage in the studio.

A kid (Teens? Late-teens?) came by a little bit ago carrying a small bowl. He’s looking for two missing cats who got out as the family packed to move. I hope he finds them. :crying_cat:

Losing full fat milk and cream would be a fate worse than death. I put heavy cream on and in every thing. I just had a bowl of frozen cherries covered with cream (the cream freezes inside and around the cherries) for dessert. The tortilla soup took a cup of cream. I had cream in my coffee and on my oatmeal this morning.

A world without milk fats is not a world worth living in.

We need to get someone out to clean our gutters, its been over a year. We do not own a ladder so Hubs can’t do it.

Tell us how it works out and share the recipe if it is successful, please. I depend on Mumpers to help keep me out of a cooking rut.

Thank you both. As I mentioned, I depend on you folks to help me mix things up.

I have also been known to buy things just because of the name. How was it? And what was it?

I’m totally in love with her white heels and toes. How cute is that?

I do too. Poor kitties and poor worried hoomans.

So, here I am 5 hours post jabs. Covid and flu. I went for a swim and came home and stitched. So far, that has helped the soreness and I’m not feeling all hot and feverish. I’ll probably be feeling a bit of malaise tomorrow, but that’s why I made a big pot of soup tonight.

The recipe calls for chicken breasts but I’ve always used thighs in the past. Today I used chicken breasts and we think we will go back to thighs for the next batch.

I didn’t go to the capital today. Today was the first day I was able to get my covid shot and I suddenly feel the need to be fully protected against the unwashed masses. There’s been an EO signed against my kind and the possibility of being in close quarters with many strangers is much higher nowadays. I’ll be back next week. Life in prison means much more to the young than the old.

So my arm is starting to twinge, its best that I go back to stitching. Gotta keep that vaccine bolus breaking up.

Evening all. Spent much time at the gym, I have decided I’m going to limit myself to burning about 800 calories there a day and spend more time on the weights, rather than just seeing how much I can sweat. So today I decided to see just how many I could use in about 3.5-4 hours, with breaks as needed. According to the machines, the answer was 2,200 calories, which it the first (and probably last) time I’ve broken 2000. Guess all that previous exercise has done me good, I feel pretty good now and not too tired (but expect I’ll sleep well tonight). Have sammiched and cookied since getting home so not in danger of starvation anytime soon, but will be interested in the Moanday weigh-in. Watching trains at Fort Madison, Iowa on the Virtual Railfan channel, awaiting the arrival of the SW Chief in a few minutes.

BBBoo, looks like the Chiefs will beat the Ravens today, hope you were able to catch a little of it.

FCM, hope Daughter made it back safely.

JtC, when I start coaching in the fall (August), we have no problems practicing until after 7pm; now with October upon us we’re lucky to make it to 6:30 and even that will be tougher as the days shorten. Fortunately we have some lighted fields so we can still practice. Enjoy the soup, it sounds delicious. And glad to hear that you are doing well post-jabs, and don’t forget we’re here if you need to post bail.

Meh, not a great Ali-bama fan, born and raised in Ohio so I still tend to follow the Buckeyes,

Bright Tree, I am not getting on any ladder to clean my gutters, but may have to get a service to come check them out.

Cookie, I keep a pile of stuff and every month or two a group called Purple Heart comes by and gets it. Hope the hip settles down.

VanGo, glad the pooch is doing well.

swampy, I’m not the religious sort, but glad you found the discussion stimulating.

You think I’d let you get away with that?!? Here’s a clip of elders reacting to BTS, maybe the best-known of the K-Pop (which is Korean Pop Music) groups. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1tA_arLVUM&list=PLwnD0jwK0yyl8dZxIvjrDsegurzHy-NdT&index=52

flyboy, hope he does too, but the odds may not be with him, sorry it happened that way.

And the Southwest Chief has come and departed for LaPlata, Missouri, so that’s all for now, will try to remember a late-night final, if not, catch you on the next MMP.

I just got a clever idea for tomorrows MMP thread.
Someone wake me at midnight.

It’s funny, because I use it a lot, too. It only bothers me when combined with coffee. I’m so sorry your coffee pleasure would be so impeded by its omission, but I do understand. We love our coffee as we love our coffee!

I will. Probably by tonight.

I will keep that in mind! < stage whisper > I’m not much of an Alabama fan myself. Their brand of smash mouth football has always left me a little cold. Give me finesse any day!

I once had a cat escape mid-move when we overnighted with relatives in Las Vegas on our way to California. He had never been there before and we thought that was it for him. We looked and looked, called and called. No joy.

Next morning, just as we were tearfully preparing to depart without him, the little miscreant strolled up like his private limo had arrived. You never know – I hope the youngsters have a similar experience!

I posted on the Blaine and Birch Bay facebook group, so there may be more eyes out. (Of course, the kid was going door-to-door.) I asked that if anyone finds out the cats’ names and the owner’s contact information to PM me. I took a little walk and found the house, but no one was there. They are diagonal across the block from us.

It looked for a while that Denny Hamlin was going to win the race, which would have made Mrs. Nott grumpy. I don’t know why she doesn’t like him. Anyway, there were a series of crashes and restarts. After the last one, Chase Elliott zipped past the two guys scuffling for the lead, and he won. During all that, I was working on a jigsaw puzzle called I Love Camping. For the record, I do not love camping. That’s how exciting my day has been.

Well, it’s Sunday night, and I’m caught up on my MMPs.

Maybe I’ll trim my eyebrows, to spice things up a little.

Daughter arrived safely. Supper was OK - the cabbage was overcooked. The kids both fell asleep on their way home - all of 20 minutes from here!

I’ve been using skim milk for so long, I can’t handle the fatty stuff. Well, except for my quiche - half-n-half for that. But then, I don’t drink coffee, and I don’t use milk in my tea. And lately, I have cereal with yogurt.

And now, I’m tahred. Till tomorrow…

Meh. Doesn’t matter. I just likes me some cabbage.

I reheated the Costco chikkin, and ate a leg, part of a wing, and maybe a bit of thigh with Picapeppa Sauce. Then I had one slice of provolone and two thin slices of havarti. The Spousal Unit did not partake, as she’d had lunch earlier.

Mmm…cabbage and noodles..
